ASK ERNIE: A COW ON THE LOOSE IN BROOKLYN
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Elizabeth B. from Acushnet, Mass. (favorite flavor Vanilla Bean) offers this two-parter:
HI ERNIE,
HOW MUCH DOES A TURKEY HILL WINROSS TRUCK COST AND ON WHICH PARKWAY DID THE GIANT COW GET STUCK?
The Winross Truck costs $39.95. You can find that and many other Turkey Hill-related items on the “Turkey Hill Gear” page of our website.
For the second part of your question, in July of 1995, while traveling on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn, New York our Giant Cow was being towed by one of our Turkey Hill trucks when it got stuck in an underpass (she is, after all, a GIANT cow). It sounds funny now, but she caused a bit of a traffic jam and even drew some attention from the police who arrived on the scene to help get her back on the road.Feel free to check the full story here, and thanks for your question!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

It’s not fair to ask for the answers to the questions - you’re supposed to hunt for them, just like I did, for hours at a time - not write in and ask for the answers. That is just NOT fair to the rest of us, who found ALL the answers on our own!!!!!!!!!!!
April 12th, 2007 at 12:40 pmI don’t think it’s fair that your entry gets entered in with all the entries from people who found the answers on our own. The cost of the Winross truck and the name of the parkway were two questions in the contest, and you apparently couldn’t find the answers on your own - not quite kosher, do you think??
