Just a reminder for those of you with access to the Pennsylvania Cable Network. The station will be airing an episode about the Penn State Creamery (the largest university creamery in the nation) this Sunday at 8 pm according to the PCN website. Here’s a list of PCN cable providers and channels.
If you’ve never seen it, PCN’s show “PCN Tours” is pretty interesting, with their behind-the-scenes looks at factories and manufacturing facilities throughout Pennsylvania. Their tour of the Turkey Hill Dairy aired last week but is scheduled to re-air on July 20. Don’t worry, we’ll post another reminder about it right before then.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
I’ll have to remember to tune in.
As a PSU alumnus, I have great memories eating Peach Paterno outside the Creamery as the squirrels waited for us to drop some for them. Yes, the squirrels loved the ice cream and the cones!
Penn State makes some great ice cream, yum! Nothing like it! But I love love love Turkey Hill!!!! Just tried the German Chocolate Cake flavor last week, it was awesome!
I’ve marked the calendar for july to watch the PCN tour, those shows are so interesting. I’ve seen Food Network shows about ice cream, but I bet this will be very “cool” to see!
I live near the town of McKeesport, PA and every year we have International Village. Ethnic Church groups, spend all spring, preparing and freezing food to sell at this 3 day food extravaganza. One of the booths there is also Penn State Ice Cream. Since International Village is in Aug,, the ice cream booth ALWAYS has a very long line.I”ll bet if Turkey Hill brought the crazy swirly cow and sold Duette ice cream,, there would be another long line! BTW, I also work for Dorothy’s Candies, a candy factory/store in White Oak, near McKeesport, and our store was recently on PCN,,, Very informative show!
I have been to the Penn State campus several times during their July arts festival. What a great way to spend a summer’s day…artists, music ,street performances and fantastic ice cream!
I love butter pecan !!!
