RECIPE: ICE CREAM LOAF
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Meat loaf is good and ice cream is good, so an ice cream loaf must be really good! We’ll admit, this one doesn’t sound that exciting, but we like any ice cream recipe that resembles another food. This one would go well with ice cream baked potatoes (look for that recipe later this month).
INGREDIENTS
• 1/4 cup chocolate wafer crumbs
• 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
• 1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened
• 1/4 cup chopped peanuts
• 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 3 tablespoons evaporated milk
• 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
• 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
DIRECTIONS
1. Cut a piece of foil into 12-in. x 3-in. rectangle. Line the bottom of a 5-3/4-in. x 3-in. x 2-in. loaf pan with foil, so that the foil comes up over the ends of the pan. Combine wafer crumbs and melted butter; press onto bottom of prepared pan. Spoon ice cream over crumbs; smooth with a spatula. Sprinkle with nuts. Freeze until firm.
2. In a small saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to simmer. Cook and stir for 4 minutes or until thickened. Refrigerate mixture until completely cool, stirring occasionally. Spread over ice cream. Cover and freeze until firm. Remove from refrigerator 10-15 minutes before serving.

July 26th, 2007 at 12:55 pmI always keep frozen strawberries sweetened in the freezer. Defrost and serve over ice cream anytime. Put whipped heavy cream and cherry on top; perfect for everyday or company!

July 14th, 2007 at 6:35 amto loafer,
this would be great for you.
place some Turkey Hill ice cream sandwiches in a square glass dish, top w/ whipped topping and drizzle w/ chocolate syrup or chocolate shell topping. You can add nuts if you want, but that takes more effort, lol
You can share, or just grab a spoon
July 12th, 2007 at 5:19 pmSounds like too much work. I think I’ll just enjoy good ole Turkey Hill Dairy ice cream and “loaf” around for awhile.
July 10th, 2007 at 9:26 amTurkey Hill is fabulous between two big soft Chocolate Chip cookies! The recipie looks good too. I will try it.

July 9th, 2007 at 9:41 amBanana Split Ice cream and Black Cherry!
Also, I have sent gifts to several people and they love PA. ice cream.
I think the Fried Ice Cream tastes a LOT like a snickerdoodle. And the Southern Lemon Pie rocks, I think there needs to be a move toward making that one permanent. Pineapple Upside Down Cake is pretty awesome too.
July 8th, 2007 at 9:14 pmIf you haven’t tried the Southern Lemon Pie, you have to, I bet the recipe would be great with nilla wafers.
July 8th, 2007 at 6:27 pmI have a three year old and I’m 6 months pregnant…needless to say, I’m on my way to the grocery store to buy the ingrediants I need to make the meatloaf…it is a good source of calcium for me and the baby….
July 8th, 2007 at 1:48 pmchocolate syrup over top in a dish and go to town
July 8th, 2007 at 12:20 pmSounds very tasty but keep the nuts. That’s a question I have, why do so many of the flavors have to have “nuts” in them? I am not a fan of nuts and since you put so much in a flavor picking them out is not possible.
July 8th, 2007 at 11:20 amI love it! I will try the recipe soon.
July 8th, 2007 at 9:38 amWhat a great recipe, I can’t wait to try it. It would be easy to mix up the cookie and ice cream flavors to make dozens of yummy combinations.
July 8th, 2007 at 1:36 amMust make this for my husband! He would eat ice cream sandwiches every night if I had them. I’ll try this with cashews — his favorite nut. After this freezes I’ll cut and wrap into individual pieces. Thanks for the recipe. I wish I had some now!
July 7th, 2007 at 10:56 pmWow that sounds like a great recipe, I’ll have to try it real soon. I think I will put moose tracks in mine though.

I once bought rectangle pieces of chocolate cookie,to make your own ice cream sandwiches, can put any flavor if Turkay Hill in between to make your own special sandwich. Mine of course is chocolate, and death by chocolate, and sometimews Butter Pecan, OH they are all my favorites!!!
July 7th, 2007 at 6:04 pmThis recipe sounds good for a croud!!
How about Snickerdoodle ice cream between two snickerdoodle cookies. Snickerdoodle was my husband’s favorite, but we haven’t seen it in the store for a long time. Will it ever come back? Now he goes back and forth between the Cherry/vanilla Duet and Candy Cane flavor. Love all the flavors and varieties of Turkey Hill ice cream .. keep up the great work and flavors!!!
July 7th, 2007 at 2:49 pmA great recipe. My son’s birthday is next week, maybe I’ll give this one a try.
Incidentally, I found the list of current Turkey Hill flavors elsewhere on the website. But am still interested in all flavors ever produced. What goes into choosing new flavors? Who decides and how are those decisions made?
July 7th, 2007 at 1:16 pmThis look like a larger version of something we make at home. We take two homemade chocolate cookies and sandwich a dip of icecream between them. Voila! Icream Sandwich. We experiment with different cookies and different flavors of Turkey Hill Icecream. Our favorites are chocolate cookies with Mint Chip icecream, chocolate chip cookies with Dutch chocolate icecream, and snickerdoodles with French Vanilla icecream.
July 7th, 2007 at 11:43 amI’ll have to add this recipe to my “to try” list!
