PHOTO OF THE WEEK: WELCOME TO SOFT SERVE MOUNTAIN
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
That ribbon of vanilla-meets-chocolate running down the center of this photo is almost hypnotic. Your eye travels down the ice cream and back to the top, waiting for it to drip, drip, drip. Thanks to Joits over on Flickr for taking this one and letting us feature it here.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

March 13th, 2008 at 6:12 pmEnjoyed news for July-My husband and I were fortune enought to tour your plant with the Ice Screamer’s group in June.
August 7th, 2007 at 11:24 pmOur next adventure is to serve Turkey Hill Ice Cream and Ice Tea at our annual neighborhood Ice Cream get together this Sunday evening.
The neighbors love to make their own ice cream sundae/banana splits, etc.
Our ages range from a young 76 yr old to a very young 1 1/2 yr old.
Thank you Ernie for a great tour.
How in the world did they get it ‘ruffled’ like that? When we had our Ice Cream Parlor, ours were more like a ’star shape’ twist. And boy did we love making them! ’specially the really big ones! I love chocolate SS.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:44 pmWell, almost as much as TH!
Thank you TH for making all your GR8 products. Please don’t ever stop. 96 degrees here in Olyphant PA today, but anytime is a perfect time for TH ice cream AND ITS’ DRINKS.

August 1st, 2007 at 8:41 amThe swirl Ice Cream looks like the swirl Ice Cream that came out years ago. It looks very good and I’m sure it is delightful to Taste. I would like to taste this new Ice Cream but is isn’t on the shelve yet.
Sincerely,

I’m always ready for soft ice cream
July 31st, 2007 at 12:41 pmand even when I eat non-soft ice cream,
I let it get soft and creamy.
I hope everyone gets to enjoy ice cream.
I must have missed this yesterday. It’s a great shot and making me want my nightly serving of ice cream at what’s now noon.
July 31st, 2007 at 12:38 pmMmmmmm….. this looks sooo refreshing!! My mouth is watering now!! I would have to agree with Sarah…. mint chocolate chip soft serve would be to die for!!
July 31st, 2007 at 11:52 amThis may be the last day of National Ice Cream Month but it won’t stop me from buying and eating my usual carton and a half each week. Chocolate Peanut Butte Cup is the current favorite closely followed by Moose Tracks and Rocky Road. There is nothing wrong with plain old chocolate either and a nice dish of vanilla with some chocolate topping and walnuts is hard to beat. Hurray to Turkey Hill for all their fine products.

July 31st, 2007 at 11:41 amI missed your blog over the weekend, I am glad your back.
MMMMMMMMMMM that ice cream cone sure looks good. I better go have some ice cream!
July 30th, 2007 at 11:41 pmI just love it…winter, spring, summer or fall
July 30th, 2007 at 9:08 pmI love soft ice cream but I’ve never seen a chocolate look so dark and rich.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:33 pmI worked at a restaurant that was famous for their many flavors of ice cream and huge sundaes (many years ago). I actually thought I would get tired of eating ice cream while working there but it never happened!
July 30th, 2007 at 7:57 pmThank you Turkey Hill for having your line of fat free, sugar free ice creams that are as delicious as your regular ice creams. I only buy them and can still enjoy ice cream whenever I want.
Oh but that picture does look tasty! I too used to work at an ice cream shop and loved to make the soft serve cones, at first it is not as easy as it looks, but you get better! Just today I got an email from an Aunt in Israel telling me they are having a heat wave, 100* every day and even at night. Usually it goes down to the 70*’s at night but it has not for the laSt few days. I sure feel for her, wish I could send her some ice cream cones!!
July 30th, 2007 at 4:50 pmIce cream, in any form, is such a beautiful piece of work.
July 30th, 2007 at 4:11 pmLooks delicious!! Mmm, I can just taste it now! My tongue licking the little ‘loop’ as Carol says.
Athough I do enjoy “regular” ice cream (they don’t have Mint Chocolate Chip soft serve), this looks particurally good.
Mint Chocolate Chip tasters unite!!!!!!!!
July 30th, 2007 at 3:54 pmJust Yummy!!!! Just what I need in this humidity!
July 30th, 2007 at 2:20 pmIt looks picture perfect BUT if I had it within a minute it would have dripped the chocolate on my white outfit.
PS Does Ernie think up the 2 words we have to type in?
July 30th, 2007 at 2:20 pmYahoo for Turkey Hill. This month has record heatwaves everywhere and the only reason I survive is with my Turkey Hill ice cream to look forward to. A different flavor every day for my evening meal. With the humidity I have not gained an ounce. Some day I will have to stop, but it’s grand while it lasts.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:46 pmI am not particularly fond of soft serve but I must admit this one looks good enough to eat! Picture perfect.
July 30th, 2007 at 12:50 pmYum! No caption needed for this photo. When I was a teen working at the DQ, we had to make a loop at the tip of our cones. Children just loved that loop. They would bite it off and then start licking their cone. I made nice looking cones… just to brag a bit.
One day the advertising company can in. I was selected to make the cones to be photographed for the new posters. I was honored! I ate DQ soft serve every day I worked. I never got tired of it. It’s a good think I was in alot of highschool sports. I burned up all those calories. I would of looked like a blimp. LOL!
July 30th, 2007 at 12:42 pmWhat a great picture! I have to agree with CJ, that chocolate does look really rich!
July 30th, 2007 at 11:50 amOh, so soft and perfect. And what I love about the picture it that it makes the ice cream seem larger than life, almost like you could slide down it!
The chocolate in this combo looks particularly rich…
