Remember a few weeks ago when Ernie said he first started working in the dairy industry when he was about 18 months old? That’s right, Turkey Hill’s official ice cream tester got his big break carrying empty milk buckets to his dad when he was milking the cows.
Well, the folks in our customer service department worked a little magic and dug up the picture below of a very young Ernie hard at work on the family farm. According to Ernie, this picture was probably taken sometime in March or April of 1940.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
I can see the fire in his eyes! He was destined to work in the dairy industry.
How cute! They sy practice makes perfect, all that practice on the dairy makes Turkey hill perfect for us all!
Thank you Ernie!
Looks like Ernie was destined to be in the Ice Cream business, from the very start! No wonder he’s so good at what he does! (I still wish I had his job lol) Ernie sure was a cute little baby. Happy even then, working in the Dairy business
Yes, he was a hard working little guy. He still is (hard working…not a little guy).
Wow! That had to bring back memories! I have to tell you seeing that picture made me feel YOUNG! Thanks so much for starting my day off with an ENERGY BOOST!
Oh my goodness – there is a cute picture! A boy who knows his dairy, and the importance of sharing Turkey Hill through the land!
Its amazing, Ernie you still have the same face with the same smile! Ice cream makes everyone happy from toddler to adult. I know it always makes me smile. Keep up the good work, you were meant to be in ice cream!!
What an adorable little boy! Something in that smile seems to know that hard work carrying empty bottles today will pay off in the end with all the ice cream you can taste-test!
He is so cute! So everyone, who’s cuter- Ernie or Quinten (if I spelled your name wrong sorry!).
That is too adorable!
