DECEMBER BRINGS FLURRIES (AND POLLS)
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Happy December everyone. Sure enough, as we type this a flurry of snow is coming down. Well, it was. Not anymore. It looked like December for a few minutes at least. Speaking of a new month, thanks to everyone for your input on what December’s poll should be. We got so many great ideas that it was hard to choose just one.
In the end, we settled on Adrian’s suggestion about asking everyone which Limited Edition flavor from 2007 you’d most like to see become a regular flavor. It seemed appropriate being the last month of the year and all. Feel free to let us know your thoughts on the right and/or with a comment to this post. And don’t worry, we wrote down all of the other poll ideas, so some of those will no doubt pop up in the near future.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

December 18th, 2007 at 9:31 pmBeing a Baby Boomer from Texas. I am very picky about Ice Cream. I grew up used to home churned. Since I found Turkey Hill Butter Pecan it reminds me of the Ice Cream I grew up with. It is the only kind I will buy now. The pecans taste fresher than the other brands I esed to buy. Great job!!!!!!!!!

December 18th, 2007 at 11:56 amYummmm!!! Best word to describe your ice cream and frozen yogurt. I love the peanut butter marshmallow frozen yogurt. I cannot imagine life without my Turkey Hill for dessert or a light snack, refreshing, cool, and satisfying to the “T” ….. to Turkey Hill I say…

Fill a bowl with your favorite dry cereal (corn flakes are great) and top with a scoop or two of Turkey Hill vanilla. Now crunch away!
December 17th, 2007 at 2:24 pmA few years ago I moved from Long Island, NY to Pittsburgh, PA, and to my sad suprise the supermarkets did not carry Turkey Hill. WHAT???? I figured being made in PA I would get to expierence even more delicious flavors. I shopped supermarket after supermarket with no luck. Then it happend…Turkey Hill came to Pittsburgh, well, let’s just say that I embarrassed my kids in the supermarket when I jumped for joy in the icecream isle. (Talk about a kid in a candy shop!-or should I say icecream shop?)I must have purchased 5 half gallons that day, in fear it was a fluke. Glad to say its been around ever since, and we just keep broadening our love for this ice cream with all the new flavors.
December 17th, 2007 at 10:17 amI could not get enough of the duetto’s- all flavors- they were outragiously delicious
December 16th, 2007 at 3:50 pmkeep um coming-

After moving to North Carolina from Pennsylvania,I really miss Turkey Hill products.Especially their ice cream!!After searching high & low,I finally found a store that carries it.Those coupons will certainly be used down here.

December 15th, 2007 at 11:10 amIf it’s not to late to vote for a favorite flavor, I’d like to say Turkey Hill Moose Tracks Lite. I can eat it every night and usually do. I can’t resist!
December 15th, 2007 at 10:36 amI received my 2008 calendar. Reviewing the calendar month by month makes me want to return to Lancaster/York area sooner than June 2008 for the Ice Screamers convention…Come on Spring!
December 14th, 2007 at 8:00 pmLET CHICKEN TASTE LIKE CHICKEN
ROOT BEER LIKE ROOT BEER
ICE CREAM LIKE ICE CREAM
WHY CHANGE WHAT WORKS, OR IF IT’S NOT
BROKE, DON’T FIX IT

December 14th, 2007 at 6:34 pmTurkey Hill is my absolute favorite Ice Cream. It is much better than all the others out there because it is much creamier than the others! I loooove Tastycake!!!!!1
December 14th, 2007 at 12:08 pmLoved the apple dumpling. It made me homeick for Pennsylvania. Also enjoyed the Snyder pretzel. I miss my Berks County roots.
December 14th, 2007 at 11:28 amI have been purchasing Turkey Hill since its introduction to the supermarkets. The only problem I have encountered is that I never know when to stop eating it. How about a “Black Forest” flavor complete with red cherries.
December 14th, 2007 at 11:09 amHey How did i miss so many neat choices??
December 14th, 2007 at 10:27 amI never saw most of thoes flavors in my store’s dairy case.
I do shop at different place frequently and a few of them would have drove me crazy… stuffed my freezer for the long haul…
Thanks and please bring back thoes flavors to try again. especially the Tandy cake one.
My family has eaten turkey hill ice cream for years. One of my favorites is egg nog flavor but a friend of mine tried the tastykake flavor and loved it. I would like to see that as a regular flavor and not just limited edition.
December 14th, 2007 at 9:29 amAs a child I always remember eating vanilla ice cream with bits of candy cane in it around Christmas time.
December 14th, 2007 at 9:05 amI just wish you would make Rum Raisin around the Christmas/NewYear’s Holidays.
December 14th, 2007 at 8:56 amMy family loves any Turkey Hill ice cream, but our favorite is coconut cream pie.
December 14th, 2007 at 7:14 amAll your flavors are great. I love the holiday specials.
December 14th, 2007 at 2:55 amWow, I got my calander, but not many receipes like this years. All your flavors are good. How about a pumpkin cheese cake ice cream. thanks
December 14th, 2007 at 2:53 amAny Turkey Hill Ice Cream is great . I love the new duettos they are all good but pineapple upside down cake…. YUMMY!
December 13th, 2007 at 11:04 pmWhat can I say , I have been eating turkey Hill ice cream since it came out on the open market. It has to be the best ice cream ever made.
December 13th, 2007 at 10:45 pmWe are on Long Island NY - east end, and got our first real snow today - 12/13. No matter what the weather, Turkey Hill is comfort food!!!!!!
December 13th, 2007 at 10:36 pmI loved the blueberry muffin and the
December 13th, 2007 at 9:26 pmbaked apple dumpling. Unfortunately, I
only got to buy them once before they were gone! I’d love to see them back again.
Ahh… The taste of coconut ice cream.
December 13th, 2007 at 8:55 pmMmm… in my coffee, making a pina coolota, coconut ice cream pie, whatever the use the taste will be great!
Well, I’ve never seen any of those flavors but, my favorite limited flavor is Phillies Graham Slam which I find every once in a while at a local supermarket. Just found some a couple of weeks ago and it is yummy!
December 13th, 2007 at 7:49 pmI called 1-800-MY-DAIRY for my calendar, and got a very sweet real person! What a surprise THAT was!! Mex.fried, choco coco sound pretty weird…I’d probably like them!
December 13th, 2007 at 5:41 pmNot sure if this was a Turkey Hill ice cream flavor - but we have looked to no avail to find Apple Pie Ice cream this winter season, of it was not a Turkey Hill flavor, I can’t imagine it not being delicious with the rich creamery texture and goodness in all your products!
December 13th, 2007 at 3:33 pmMy friend in the supermarket business tells me a high percentage of all ice cream sales are when the product is on sales. That doesn’t matter to us…we always buy Turkey Hill with the great selection of flavors and varieties. when it’s on sale, that a double treat.
December 13th, 2007 at 1:45 pmMy favorite thing to eat in my Turkey Hill Ice Cream is pretzels. And what could be better than chocolate covered pretzels? I love that sweet and salty taste all at once. MMMMMM!!!!!
December 5th, 2007 at 9:34 pmLife is a bowl of ice cream which ever flavor is your favorite!!!!!Ps though I picked Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy
December 5th, 2007 at 3:27 pmI would love the chocolate pretzel to be a regular flavor. I love the combination of my three favorite snacks. Chocolate, Pretzels, and of course Turkey Hill!
December 5th, 2007 at 6:42 amI am really disappointed that a lot of these different flavors never made it down to south Jersey. And I check out the TH display two or three times a week! They ALL sound great, and it’s a tough choice, but Apple Dumplings –geesh — how much better can it get? Now, I can’t wait to get my calendar!
December 4th, 2007 at 10:54 pmWow so many choice, they are all good!
December 4th, 2007 at 9:21 pmBut my choice would be Southern Lemon pie. Great suggestion Adrian!
I vote for Coconut Creme Pie, minus the pie. How about some pieless, crustless, cakeless ice creams in the future.
December 4th, 2007 at 8:31 pmI LOVE this month’s poll!!! I love special flavors, and having one become a regular would just be heavenly… Gosh I can’t wait for June!!!! I have to have that German Chocolate Cake!!!!!!!
December 4th, 2007 at 6:42 pmcoffee and ice cream, what a delightful idea. I will have to use my ice cream this way too.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:41 pmKELLY - Feel free to sign up to receive the Turkey Hill calendar by calling 1-800-MY-DAIRY. The back of the calendar will list all of the Limited Edition flavors (ice cream and frozen yogurt) for 2008!
December 4th, 2007 at 11:58 amso many flavors i see here today, Mex.fried, choco coco?/ never saw these and T Hill calender? where do you get that???
December 4th, 2007 at 10:13 amBaked Apple Dumpling is delicious but a close second is Snyders of Hanover Chocolate Pretzel. I put chocolate pretzels in my ice cream, now I don’t have to anymore, it’s wonderful!
December 4th, 2007 at 9:58 amI’ve never tried any of the Limited flavors so I’m not sure if I’ll vote but do any of the limited flavors come in light or are they always premium ice creams?
December 4th, 2007 at 9:29 ammy family makes a claim ,your ice cream has most richest texture and favor ,it is like eating champagne
December 4th, 2007 at 7:58 amWith the cold weather, I’m putting chocolate, vanilla and chocolate chip flavors into coffee and hot chocolate. Makes for tasty treats.
December 4th, 2007 at 7:54 amMy kids and I rather enjoyed the Mexican Fried Ice Cream flavor… even my fairly “picky” son who usually only eats vanilla!
December 4th, 2007 at 5:08 amI got my Turkey Hill calendar today- can’t wait to try the Root Beer Duetto and the Chocolate Coconut Duetto! The Box of Chocolates and the Junior Mint sound great!
December 3rd, 2007 at 9:29 pmWow! I’m honored you took my suggestion. I guess I’ll have to vote for Baked Apple Dumpling since it’s so much a part of Pennsylvania Dutch culture. I’m tempted to go for Southern Lemon Pie though, because it was awesome.
