DID YOU KNOW: SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS FOR ICE CREAM
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
More ice cream is sold on Sunday than on any other day of the week. It makes sense. There’s no better way to end a relaxing weekend than with a cone at your favorite stand or a big bowl of ice cream at home.
TODAY’S PRIZE: What kid wouldn’t want this? It’s the Scientific Explorer’s Ice Cream Kit. Like it says on the box, it’s pretty much a crash course in how to make your own ice cream. It’s also says “invent colors and flavors.” Who says this prize is only for kids?

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

Nothing like a hot fudge sunday on Sunday. Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry on top

December 26th, 2007 at 7:48 pmSOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS FOR ICE CREAM
More ice cream is sold on Sunday than on any other day of the week.
just because more ice cream is sold on Sunday, do not make it better to eat ice cream.
I protest.
every day is a good day for ice cream
What a treat that would be!
December 25th, 2007 at 11:33 pmIce cream solves all problems
December 25th, 2007 at 5:01 pmI have always told the ones I love that when the world is going mad, one should eat ice cream for breakfast. It balances life and takes the idea of putting something so wonderful as ice cream away for the future. Instead, any time is time for ice cream.
December 25th, 2007 at 3:46 pmsomething seems amiss with your 24th post. (i like the purple cows best). I cant seem to link to that, nor could anyone else, it seems, so I am posting here at the end of the 23rd in hopes it counts toward the prize…

December 24th, 2007 at 11:33 amOur favorites are the Mint Chocolate Chip, for myself and my 6 year old, but Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream are the stables for the rest of our clan consisting of four other children and “Dad”. At least we have a local chain of grocery stores which starts their sales on Wednesday so I can shop towards the end of the week and still ensure our favorites will be available…ummm.
December 24th, 2007 at 11:27 amTurkey Hill is just the best and so is this enticing prize. Merry Christmas!
December 24th, 2007 at 11:27 amWhat a great prize! A day without ice cream is like a day without sunshine
December 24th, 2007 at 11:20 amI can see more being sold on Sunday’s since perhaps a grocery shopping day for many, but as far as consumption, not that way in my house. Spread equally over the week, lots and lots each and every day, no favorites.
December 24th, 2007 at 11:11 amToday, Tomorrow (Christmas Day), the next day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s day and every single day of ‘2008′ makes me think, what a fine day for some ice cream, how ’bout you? Bravo to the fine folks at Turkey Hill for making a yummmmmy-good product. We love it! Merry Christmas …….. Sandy Guisewite
December 24th, 2007 at 11:10 amI agree most people shop on the weekend and most store sales start on Sundays. If you don’t get to the store the first day of the sale, all your favorite ice cream flavors are normally gone!

FICTION:
December 24th, 2007 at 9:54 amSOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHER DAYS FOR TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM
ANY DAY is the best day for Turkey Hill!!!!! but I suppose Sunday is most popular with the kids…
December 24th, 2007 at 9:52 amSome days are better than others!!!!!I don’t think so. I’ve never had a day in my life when I din’t want ice cream. It’s true. When we were little kids after dinner my dad would take us to the local ice cream store and buy us a cone. Every night. I got used to eating ice cream everyday and nothing has ever changed for me. A day without ice cream is like a day without sunshine (or coffee).
December 24th, 2007 at 9:41 amfor us shopping occurs on Thursday since we work on the weekends
December 24th, 2007 at 9:36 amUmmmmmmm! I’ve got a real smart granddaughter that could use that kit.
December 24th, 2007 at 9:35 amHappy Christmas to all
Back when I was a kid, we would watch the 7pm disney movie and have pretzels and ice cream. I am the 11th of 12 children, so that was a big deal for us. I’m 39 now and still remember that fondly. As for my 6 kids and husband now, anyday is good. My neighbor came over the other day and actually found a box of melting popsicles behind my bathroom door from my 2 year old:O I guess she really was angry at me when I told her she couldn’t have ice cream at 8 am. I’m such a mean mom. Merry Christmas to all. Amy
December 24th, 2007 at 9:33 amhappy holidays to all. My kids would love the prize, of course and the TH ice cream tonight
December 24th, 2007 at 9:09 amSounds like a great prize- my grandkids would love it.

December 24th, 2007 at 8:15 amEspecially if it’s dessert!
We stock up on the ice cream on Sundays because that is when the sales start for the week. In my store, if you don’t get it on Sunday, chances are the Turkey Hill is gone until the next delivery!
December 24th, 2007 at 8:14 amMerry Christmas to all and enjoy ice cream with the festivities!
December 24th, 2007 at 8:12 amWorst use of ice cream ever.
December 24th, 2007 at 8:11 amTime: 1931
Actors: Mother and child
Mother:”It really won’t hurt to get your tonsils taken out and then you can eat as much ice cream as you want.”
Sunday shopping often includes ice cream because the guys like to watch sports and enjoy treats. Also, we tend to have company over and need good desserts.
December 24th, 2007 at 8:01 amIce cream is great any day of the week in my book.
December 24th, 2007 at 7:55 amMy family would love this prize.
December 24th, 2007 at 7:42 ammost ice cream may be sold on sundays, however, the best days for eating ice cream are: birthdays, graduations, christenings, weddings, reunions, homecomings, the dog ate the mail day, you had a flat tire, got caught in traffic for an hour, bad hair day, missed the meeting, kids tearing up the house, and any day you darn well need to relax. i am sure you can think of many more times when ice cream can take us to that soothing, relaxing, calm place we need to be !
December 24th, 2007 at 7:17 amI believe ice cream is sold mostly on Sunday. I just came home Sunday with Turkey Hill’s Banana Split ice cream, and in place of some figgy pudding, I’m going to dig in and enjoy!
December 24th, 2007 at 7:13 amwhat a cool prize…ice cream is a staple at my house!
December 24th, 2007 at 7:11 amthe kids would love to make ice cream. afterall, they usually do ice cream every couple of days. as far as the most being sold on a Sunday, i bet most is eaten around wednesday since it’s such a terrific pick me up.
December 24th, 2007 at 7:00 amwhat a neat prize!
December 24th, 2007 at 6:53 amWe just love ice cream any day of the week. Would love to win it for a year - would be a GREAT Christmas present and enjoy it all year long!
December 24th, 2007 at 6:39 amI think that any day is good for ice cream. Turkey Hill Ice Cream goes good with anything that I could have for dessert or just by itself!
December 24th, 2007 at 6:38 amNot only is Sunday a big day to buy ice cream, when it snows is also when a lot of ice cream is sold.
December 24th, 2007 at 6:35 amSundays or any day of the week is great for TURKEY HILL ice cream, that is if you can get it! I can’t and I really do miss it. Originally from Cumberland County in Penna. so TURKEY HILL ice cream was in my mom’s home ALL the time. MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEARS everyone!
December 24th, 2007 at 6:31 amI think everyday is a perfect day for some Turkey Hill ice cream! Sometimes after a long hard day, there is no better comfort than a big bowl of your favorite Turkey Hill flavor. Thanks for making the tough days so much better!
December 24th, 2007 at 6:26 amWHEN IT COMES TO EATING ICE CREAM, I DON’T
December 24th, 2007 at 5:11 amHAVE TIME USING A BOWL OR A CONE, IT’S JUST A SOUP SPOON AND I’M A HAPPY CAMPER!
Aftr our family Sunday dinners ice cream is usually desert. I put the Turkey Hill on the table with various toppings amd let them build their own sundaes.
December 24th, 2007 at 4:20 amFunny! We just went out and bought some ice cream earlier this evening!
December 24th, 2007 at 1:24 amI just want ice cream!!!!
December 24th, 2007 at 1:22 amEven though it’s freezing here i noticed my family has all had at least 1 bowl of ice cream today—guess your right!
December 24th, 2007 at 12:55 amThat sounds like a fun prize!
December 24th, 2007 at 12:49 amIt sounds like a fun prize but I’d still continue to buy Turkey Hill ice cream even if I did make my own.
December 24th, 2007 at 12:41 amToday is Sunday. I am sick and lost my voice. Recently I purchased Turkey Hill egg nog ice cream. I ate some to soothe my throat. It felt so good and tasted good too. For me, Sunday was the perfect day for ice cream, not once, but twice.
December 24th, 2007 at 12:35 amWe like our sundaes on Saturday!
December 24th, 2007 at 12:33 amToday is Sunday. I am sick and lost my voice. Recently I had bought Turkey Hill egg nog ice cream. I ate some to sooth my throat. It felt good and tasted great. For me, Sunday was the perfect day for ice cream, not once, but twice.
December 24th, 2007 at 12:32 amToday is Sunday. I was sick and lost my voice. I had recently bought Turkey Hill egg nog ice cream. It felt so good going into my throat. For me, Sunday was the perfect day for ice cream, not just one time, but twice. So was that flavor.
December 24th, 2007 at 12:29 amToday is Sunday. I am sick and lost my voice. I had recently bought Turkey Hill egg nog ice cream. It felt so good going into my throat. For me, Sunday was the perfect day for ice cream. Egg nog was the perfect flavor, too.

December 24th, 2007 at 12:11 amI usually buy my ice cream on Saturday or Sunday.
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:49 pmSunday was the day my Mom would always make something extra special for dinner when I was a kid. It was usually roast beef or roast pork with roasted potatoes. It would melt in your mouth, just like Turkey Hill Ice Cream.
I miss those days, but at least I can enjoy Turkey Hill Ice Cream any day of the week.
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:40 pmThis sounds like a fun science experiment for kids!
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:40 pmThis big kid would love to play with that ice cream kit!
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:35 pmI’m sitting here eating Turkey Hill Peppermint Stick ice cream, but I bought it on Friday. My family would enjoy playing with the kit and exploring some possibilities. We had fun making ice cream in nested plastic bags and in nested coffee cans we rolled around the yard. Oooh, this Peppermint Stick ice cream is yummy. Almost as good as the Eggnog ice cream last night.
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:24 pmSince Sunday is the first day of the week, there’s no better way to star the week off than with a big bowl of TH, especially when coconut creme pie was a flavor (hint-hint–although I notice it’s # 4…maybe #4 should be the full-time flavor, not #1 for a change!)
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:05 pmMany years ago I worked in an ice cream shop. We were always busy and I had the bruised wrists to show for it. It didn’t matter what day or what time of year. The ice cream kit looks like a lot more fun!
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:42 pmI think the Scientific Explorer’s Ice Cream kit sounds like as much fun for adults as for kids Sounds like a great project for the entire family!
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:25 pmA year long is ice cream time.
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:25 pmEvery day is an ice cream day!
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:22 pmMy favorite Turkey Hill ice cream flavor is Moose Tracks, any day of the week. It tastes so rich and creamy, you would never know it’s light. I never feel cheated with Turkey Hill Light Ice Cream. It really satisfies my ice cream craving.
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:20 pmIce cream, any time. But you are right, a hot summer Sunday after noon on the back porch with a bowl of ice cream, that is a true luxury.
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:20 pmWhy make your own, I ask, or “colors and flavors” invent
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:19 pmWhen Turkey Hill makes so many delicious varieties that are truly heaven-sent?
When I was a kid, while driving home from church on Sunday, my family would stop at a mom-and-pop grocery in our small town for a half-gallon of ice cream. Thanks for bring back that great memory!
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:16 pmTurkey Hill sundaes on Sunday (or any day) make it a more fun day!
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:08 pmA piece of warm apple pie and a scope of Turkey Hill vanilla ice cream will make sunday the best day of the week.
December 23rd, 2007 at 10:04 pmAny day that ends in the letter “Y” is a great day for ice cream…
December 23rd, 2007 at 9:57 pmthe Ice Cream Kit sounds neat, even for we adults.

December 23rd, 2007 at 9:45 pmall ice cream flavors from turkey hill are good, it is the tastyestand creamiest ice cream. my favorite flavor was the german chocolate cake,i only found it once, hope they make it a regular flavor. yummy.

December 23rd, 2007 at 9:22 pmWho’s winning these daily prizes anyways, I want to know.
Embarassed as I am to admit it all three of my children (ages six, six, and two) were eating Turkey Hill this morning and it was barely Eight AM - at least it’s Sunday.
December 23rd, 2007 at 9:21 pmBacon?!?!?!
December 23rd, 2007 at 9:20 pmI guess ice cream on Sunday makes sense but not for me I need my Turkey Hill every day.
December 23rd, 2007 at 9:19 pmTurkey Hill makes every day seem like Sunday
December 23rd, 2007 at 9:17 pmWe love to make our own ice cream. Our family’s favorite flavor? Bacon. No joke. Vanilla base with real bacon bits, a tradition started by my brother-in-law in teasing his uncles. It’s actually quite tasty! Will Turkey Hill steal our idea? I doubt it…
December 23rd, 2007 at 9:11 pmin our house every day is a good day for ice cream !! We eat it most every day - a little bit of icecream is a great way to end the day, the kids would love to explore making it !!
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:58 pmHeigh Ho! Heigh Ho! Heigh Ho!
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:55 pmOur hearts are all aglow
Enjoying Christmas soon we will

Making ice cream is fun, but buying it sure is easier!
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:38 pmInvent Colors? Now, that’s some wild science!
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:26 pmMakes sense, I mostly buy food on the weekends.
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:12 pmNICE
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:11 pmWhen I was a kid in the mid 50s it was always a thing to do to go get a cone of ice cream on sunday afternoon.
Had to eat it fast. Hot summer heat tried to get it first.
Good memories!!!
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:07 pmA day without ice cream is like a day without sunshine.

December 23rd, 2007 at 8:02 pmEvery Sunday, and all the days in between, are great days for ice cream!
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:56 pmI usually do have ice cream on Sundays too and I have it on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
:)
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:55 pmI usually buy Turkey Hill ice cream on Sundays - that’s when I shop.
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:49 pmI never really thought about it, but it makes sense, it really doesn’t make any difference to me every day is a day for tirkey hill ice cream.
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:47 pmI guess we must be unusual - we seldom if ever buy ice cream on Sunday. Although, we do enjoy eating it anyday, including Sundays. We may even have some tonight before we head to bed. Everyday is a good day for ice cream.
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:40 pmWorking on one of my favorite self-made combinations. A scoop of coffee, and a scoop of chocolate chip. Alright, it’s holiday time, make it two scoops of each. try it, a great combination of two super flavors. Maybe someday they package it that way.
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:26 pmMy grandson would love the scientific explorer ice cream kit.
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:24 pmNow I’m curious as to which week of the
December 23rd, 2007 at 7:23 pmyear and which month does ice cream
sell the most. I’m thinking it’s
a summer month (at least in the North
East).
In this house we eat ice cream 5 to 6 days a week. I agree that Sunday is more relaxing of a day and we will go out for an ice cream but we always have some in the freezer at home.
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:47 pmwill it be Turkey Hill?
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:37 pmIce cream is good on any day
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:27 pmI love ice cream every day!
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:23 pmThat Scientific Explorer’s Ice Cream Kit looks pretty cool. Yum…anything (and any day!) that has to do with ice cream is a good thing.
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:22 pmOn our honeymoon, my new wife was surprised when I stopped to get some ice cream before noon but agreed that it was a good treat on a hot day.
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:19 pmAny day is good for a sundae
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:15 pmI suspect Sunday would be the biggest day since most people are off the weekend and most stores ads start on Sunday. When TH is on sale I try to go early to get the best selection of flavors. Eating TH is another story since that is a 7 days 52 week affair. Must get that extra calcium.
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:10 pmI’d love this ice cream kit… and I’d even share it with the kids!
December 23rd, 2007 at 6:03 pmSunday is the day I usually stock up.
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:40 pmMy children would LOVE that ice cream kit! They are excited about attempting those flaming snowballs from earlier in the week. And I’m with some of the other comments-many people seem to shop on Sunday for groceries and Sunday is sometime a bit less hectic–perfect time to enjoy consuming ice cream.
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:36 pmI would have guessed Saturday as the more ice-cream was sold…oh well, and day is a great day for ice-cream to me ! This is a wonderful science kit for kids and adults alike…lots of learning fun ~ Thank you !
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:29 pmWow that is really cool Ice Cream Science kit. Wonderful Idea. I like ice cream everyday
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:27 pmMy favorite day is also Sunday.
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:26 pmWe love ice cream every day of the week! The Scientic Explorer’s Ice Cream Kit sounds like a lot of fun to work on and to eat when you are done!
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:20 pmI agree with mary lou. people do their shopping on Sundays. I would imagine, surveyors would find most food products are purchased on Saturday or Sundays. Its when people get paid and when they have time to grocery shop. I would imagine ice cream shops are busier on Sunday too, because again, people are less likely to be working. I doubt anyone would restrict their ice cream eating to Sunday. That would be silly.
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:16 pmI don’t think one day is better than another for eating ice cream……..every day, at least once, seems like a good choice to me…………
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:12 pmBy the way… for the first time, the only local store here with TH ice cream just had “Party Cake”. WOW, I’m thrilled to death. It tastes just like it! Another taste sensation winner, Turkey Hill. (But I’m still hopin’ and prayin’ for the return of Butter Brickle)
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:07 pmOh, how CUTE, Ms. Mary Worth, if you don’t mind me saying so. Of COURSE we should eat ice cream sundaes on Sundays!!! How clever is that?!?! I guess we need to come up with treats for the rest of the week, too. Hmmm… tomorrow’s Monday. Better get started.
December 23rd, 2007 at 5:03 pmmy consumption of turkey hill is going up during these 12 days…
are you hiring tasters?
December 23rd, 2007 at 4:28 pmIt is the one Day that the family can get together and enjoy things together and Turkey Hill ice cream is a great way to bring families together.
December 23rd, 2007 at 4:25 pmIt’s Sunday just about out of TH ice cream, better get to the store.
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:54 pmwhy do you think they call it an”ice cream sundae”?????
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:44 pmIt’s new, creative, and involves ice cream. My daughter would love it!
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:36 pmI’m sure my kids would like the Explorer’s Kit.
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:27 pmIt may well be that more ice cream is SOLD on Sundays, but maybe not eaten.
December 23rd, 2007 at 3:27 pmMany people do their weekly shopping on Sundays. Then again, as a child we usually went out for ice cream on Sunday afternoons.
FACT: EVERYDAY IS A GOOD DAY FOR TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM
FICTION: SOME DAYS ARE BEETER TAHN OTHER DAYS FOR TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM
