I remember getting a drink of KoolAid or Funny Face at my neighbor's house in metal cups. I was really jealous of the neat stuff they had. Everything we used came out of a laundry detergent box. Anyone remember that?

My girls and I have ice cream just about every nite - no kidding. Its our little family tradition. NO matter what the mood in the house, or the schedule, or who has to be where, we have ice cream in our tried & true ice cream mugs. The "retro" bowls are great.

Ice cream is the best food invention. I eat it when I'm happy, depressed, excited, worried, tired, energetic, at home, on a trip, when it's hot, when it's cold (outside), with my family, alone, and in any room of the house (really)! The bowls are very nice but I want the year's supply!!

bowls weren't of interest to me when my mother made ice cram. I wanted to have the paddle to lick off, especially when she made fresh peach ice cream. Back in the 1930s, I was glad to turn the handle of the ice cream maker in order to get the paddle.

The aluminum ice cream bowls bring back wonderful childhood memories. We had aluminum glasses the same colors. They kept the drinks cool and looked great. My mom still has them. Thanks for the great journaling. It was a wonderful idea. P.S. I'd like to win the bowls.

What better way to "ring" in the "NEW YEAR" than to win "TURKEY HILL" ice cream for a year. May everyone have a healthy, happy 2008. Bless you all!!! P.S. Serving all that yummy ice cream in those aluminum bowls would be awesome. I remember drinking kool-aid out of those aluminum tumblers. Such sweet childhood memories.

The bowls remind me of a set my mother had with matching tumblers. My mother would freeze them. They kept the ice cream, milkshakes and floats cold on a hot summer day.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Very fun dishes that remind me of when I was a kid. We had cups like that. Like I've told you in past excerpts, I'm one of 12 and have 6 kids myself. We had a mismosh of all different cups and dishes...nothing matched and we didn't know any better nor care. I can remember how cold they were when we would drink anything with ice in them. Now all these years later, seeing them, it brought a smile and memories back. I know my siblings would laugh and smile as well. I would prob. break them up and send one to each of my older siblings that needed a laugh. Once again, I'm glad to have signed up for your 12 days of Christmas. I have so many memories that I'm so fond of and you brought alot of them to mind. God Bless all of you and keep the ice cream coming. Amy

Wow Those bowls do remind me of those aluminum tumblers from the past and of course I guess I,m showing my age! First thought of those bowls reminded me of all the colorful flavors of icecream that Turkey Hill has to offer. I guess I would love these bowls and would continue to fill them with all the great kinds of ice cream!!!!!!

what U mean retro? when did they go out of style? does this mean I am retro also?
I was merely midle aged when they were introduced. I can still eat a bowl full as long as its turkey hill class

Oh WOW! Do those bowls ever bring back memories! We had these bowls when I was young. They seemed to keep ice cream more solid for longer. I'd love to have them!

No matter the price Turkey Hill Ice Cream is number ONE in our house. To decide a favorite flavor becomes a household debate so we pick Turkey Hill as our favorite

My emailed article about the bowls came on Wed. 12/26, but some people posted comments on Christmas day.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

I don't remember how I first found the Turkey Hill site, but I am sure glad I did! This is my most favorite site,,, it's the most fun,,informative and you can win prizes too,, what more could anyone ask for?! We too, had the aluminum tumblers when I was young. My Mom might still have them around somewhere,, but I never knew there were other pieces to match. I love those ice cream bowls, they are really cool. If I won them,, they would ONLY be for eating Turkey Hill ice cream out of!

I remember those bowls from when I was a young child. As soon as I saw them it brought back memories of a slower paced and more innocent time. The only problem was the limited flavors of ice cream but then we didn't know what we were missing!!!

Merry Christmas to all.

Happy Holidays to everyone - I still prefer my ice cream in a tall dessert dish, just like the restaurants serve.

My grandma had glasses like this, but not bowls & she unfortunatley didn't have TH ice cream either.
I don't remember when I first had TH ice cream or when it became common in the markets around here where I live. That would be interesting to find out. Keep the great flavors & quality ice cream etc coming!!

These aluminum dishes remind me of ice cream dishes that a neighbor of my mother's had when we were kids. My neighbor, the late "Aunt Emmy" made the best cookies and pies served with vanilla ice cream. Those were the days!

I've always thought the aluminum dishes were the coolest. My mother did not have any when we were kids but a neighbor did. I used to go over to their house and ask for a drink of water just so I could drink out of an aluminum glass. How funny is that?

These aluminum chalices remind me of the precious vessels we used to receive our local dairy's finest ice cream in when I was a youth. After a ballgame, there was no better place to go to celebrate youth, America, and baseball than our local dairy. It reminds me of the little cone-shaped water cups on Final Jeopardy. Euclid (Ohio) Race Dairy, where are you now????

Wow the 12 days went sooo fast. The bowls can go with my mother-in-law's scoop from the 50's.
My family wishes all a joyous holiday and a Happy and Healthy 2008. We also look forward to all the 2008 new flavors of TH. Good luck to all in the drawing for the year supply of TH and if it is not me I had fun writing my entries so all would not be lost.

What a fitting closure to your "12 Days of Christmas".....I am imagining finishing a Christmas Dinner with a lights-out (candles lit) presentation of Ice Cream Snowballs served in aluminum bowls. This has been a happy contest! Whether we win anything or not, I have enjoyed so much reading the comments of other ice cream lovers. Thank you, Turkey Hill!

I wouldn't mind eating some Turkey Hill ice cream out of these bowls. I remember these when I was a kid growing up. You never know - what goes around comes around. I am glad I am still around to see these cups come back in style.

It is so fitting that you would have a retro prize for the last day of Christmas. Turkey Hill ice cream flavors do bring back many memories of those wonderful days when ice cream was such a special treat. We are so fortunate now as this wonderful ice cream is so readily available.
