HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Happy New Year to everyone! We hope the celebrations went well and 2008 is going well for all of you so far. We’re happy to announce that the last two winners of our 12 Days of Ice Cream prizes have stepped forward to claim their prizes. They are Pamela Q. of Star Junction, PA (Everybody Loves Ice Cream book) and George S. of Dansville, NY (Ice Cream: The Full Scoop book). The grand prize of a year’s supply of ice is STILL unclaimed!
We’re not sure how many of you are the type to make New Year’s resolutions. Some of us around the office make them every year. Others don’t. One co-worker’s resolution (she shall remain nameless) is to “not make any resolutions this year.” Sounds like a resolution to us, but we’re not going to split hairs.
For those who haven’t made any resolutions — and even those who have — we thought we’d offer a few ice cream-related committments you might choose on make in ‘08. Here’s what we came up with:
- Expand your ice cream horizons. Try one new flavor of ice cream per month.
- Make homemade ice cream and invent your own signature flavor.
- Explore ways to use ice cream in drink and dessert recipes.
- Visit your local scoop shop more often.
- Eat ice cream for breakfast (not often, but try it…you might like it!)
- Use a special ice cream bowl and ice cream spoon.
- Learn more about the history of ice cream and its production process.
- Visit an ice cream factory.
- Offer to buy a stranger an ice cream cone on a hot summer day (no guarantees with this one…he or she might just look at you funny and walk briskly in the opposite direction.)
- Visit the Turkey Hill sampling tent at an event near you in 2008!
Okay, the last one was a little self-serving, but we couldn’t resist. If anyone has any suggestions for other ice cream resolutions let us know with a comment.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

January 21st, 2008 at 12:23 pmMaybe the winner doesn’t check e-mails or was flooded with them over the holiday and missed it. Can’t you send a second one to have this lucky person come forward. Thanks to you and congrats to the winner. Keep spooning in 2008.
January 12th, 2008 at 6:53 amYes, they are good resolutions, especially making home made ice cream, as a little girl, I so enjoyed it.
January 9th, 2008 at 6:47 pmI will be looking for Black Forest Ice Cream in 2008. May all ice cream lovers have a safe, healthy and ice creamy New Year.

January 5th, 2008 at 11:39 amMy New Year’s Resolution was to give up horse racing. That way I knew I’d break it the very first day and not have to worry about it anymore and could sit around and drown my guilt sorrows for breaking it….with big bowls of ice cream to soothe the pain. So far it’s been a great new year. Love that ice cream!
January 5th, 2008 at 11:05 amHow come I have a yard of turkeys and no turkey hill ic cream?
January 5th, 2008 at 10:42 amHappy New Years eveyone! I hope you all made resolutions that you can adhere to.
January 5th, 2008 at 9:08 amMy resolution is to try more flavors of Turkey Hill ice cream. Yea! I know can accomplish this resolution very eaily.

Well Enjoy the rest of Year everyone. Chat with later.
A Happy and Healthy New Year wish to all. Just bought our usual 2 cartons of Turkey Hill last night. Purchased Butter Pecan for the first time in a LONG time. Delicious! Tasting tent and a factory tour would be wonderful. My Girl Scout troop would certainly be more than interested, in addition to myself - of course! Please let us know if either will be possible on the future. Thanks
January 4th, 2008 at 9:47 pmHAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
January 4th, 2008 at 6:20 pmDO YOU MAKE A PEPPERMINT ICE CREAM?
MY HUSBAND LOVES PEPPERMINT ICE CREAM.
I MADE SOME ONE TIME BY TAKING VANILLA ICE CREAM AND CRUSHING UP SOME PEPPERMINT CANDY BLENDING IT TOGETHER AND THEN FREEZING IT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WASN`T AS GOOD BUT HE LIKED IT.
Tasting Tent????
January 4th, 2008 at 12:46 pmWhere do we find it?
Got my resolutions in place and TH is #1
I never have made New Year resolutions but I wouldn’t mind the ones you came up with. Your resolutions are positive and not negative. I can certainly live with “do, do, and do” rather than “don’t do, don’t do and don’t do”. Long live Turkey Hill ice cream!!
January 4th, 2008 at 9:15 amI can’t believe the grand prize winner hasn’t spoken up yet! If he or she, doesn’t, will an alternate winner be chosen? If your taking volunteers,, I”m volunteering!lol
January 4th, 2008 at 8:17 amDid I read tasting tents???? Where are they going to be in 2008? I can see a road trip is in order…
YUM!
January 4th, 2008 at 7:42 amI can’t wait to see the new flavors for Turkey Hill in 2008. Hopefully some more chances to win prizes too!
January 4th, 2008 at 6:26 amThankfully we moved back into Turkey Hill country this year and my husband and I have enough Turkey Hill ice cream in our freezer to keep us happy for the winter! We could hibernate!
Oh, and if the winner of the grand prize doesn’t step forward, I’ll be MORE than happy to be the alternate!
January 4th, 2008 at 1:20 amHow about a flavor called Wedding Cake! My fiancée and I are eloping on Feb 29, 2008. It will just be him and I. Any suggestions for places around here? Anyway thought the ice cream could have coconut and . . .
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:44 pmLisa L near Harrisburg PA
I have always felt that ice cream is the perfect answer to when you have a bad day at work or if things just didn’t go right, to come home and have your favorite bowl of ice cream.
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:03 pmI SEREVE ICE CREAM TO MY KIDS IN THE FORM OF A MILKSHAKE THAT I MAKE EACH NIGHT. THAT WAY THERE ARE GETTING PART OF THE REQUIREMENTS THEY NEEDED FOR THE DAIRY GROUP BECAUSE THEY WON’T DRINK PLAIN MILK. THEIR FAVORITES IS CHOCLATE COVERED PRETZEL AND COOKIES AND CREAM. MY FAVORITE IS MOOSE TRACKS.
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:34 pmWhere is your tent event?
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:07 pmHappy New Year To Everyone!
January 3rd, 2008 at 8:08 pmIs there a schedule of where and when the sampling tents are set up? Also, to Artennis…GREAT comment! I agree!
I would like to participate in a tour of your ice cream plant and a brain storming sessions to follow. Hope this generates some thought.
January 3rd, 2008 at 4:26 pmI’d like more Egg Nog ice cream too.
January 3rd, 2008 at 3:35 pmPlease to Baltimore send a few!
I’ll claim it if no on else does.
January 3rd, 2008 at 2:03 pmYeah, what happened to Death By Chocolate, haven’t seen it in the local T. Hill, or ice cream shop that carried it
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:37 pmI live in Western Penna. Any tent sampling events scheduled in this area?
Do you still make the Green Tea Mango Smoothie Flavor? and if so, is it available year round. it sounds like a great flavor but I can’t find it in my area.
Is the Cocolate Coconut Duetto flavor available yet?
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 amWhat type of events in 2008 will the Turkey Hill tasting tent be??
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:55 amHere’s a recipe:
Ingredients - Turkey Hill ice cream sandwiches, cool whip, hot fudge sauce, carmel sauce.
Remove the wrappers from Turkey Hill ice cream sandwiches, in a freezable container layer the ice cream sandwiches side by side, drizzle warmed hot fudge sauce (as much as you want), layer of cool whip, more sandwiches, hot fudge sauce, cool whip, then drizzle carmel sauce on top. Freeze for a couple of hours. Something different!
Hey, what great ice cream resolutions! Sounds like they would all be delightful to follow. I like the one about, “Visit the Turkey Hill sampling tent at an event near you in 2008!”. Will you be providing a schedule of these tasting events so we can definitely attend?
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:54 amMy resolution would be to get skinny, then get pregnant with my seventh (Lord willing), eat lots of yummy ice cream and then some and get fat again…only to start all over.

January 3rd, 2008 at 10:34 amNo problem trying all the Turkey Hill resolutions. My resolution for 2008 will be to take better care of myself and slow down, so I can eat more ice cream. I’m always on the go so I usually eat on the run. My son being home from college eats all the ice cream, he loves the Duetto! He tells me that I’m too slow, he says someone has to eat it or it will get freezer burned. Thank you again TH!!
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:30 amA couple of things.
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:25 amFirst your co-worker should make 1 resolution only. It would be to make no resolutions and then abide by it.
Next I like the resolution to visit the TH tasting tent so please let all of us TH fans know when and where it will be. About David’s question on TH tours which the answer was mostly no why not have a TH Day at the plant for all us fans with special tours that day. We would all love to wear crazy TH hats probably required by the health department.
Just wanted to wish every one at Turkey hill a Happy, Healthy New Year.

January 3rd, 2008 at 9:46 amSorry about that Raymond. Our Egg Nog flavor is pretty popular and therefore hard to find sometimes. If you’re ever missing a flavor at your local store, it never hurts to ask your freezer manager. You’d be surprised how often they take customer suggestions into account the next time they’re placing an order.
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:35 amI resolve to have at least one container of Turkey Hill “Tin Roof Sundae” each month. Also, how come TH Egg Nog ice cream is so scarce??? Only came across two cartons during the holiday season. Now that is a flavor I would enjoy year round!!!!!!!
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:31 amThe resolutions sounds good, I think I`ll take some hints from there….
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 amThanks a bunch!!!
I will follow all of The Turkey Hill resolutions this year!
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:06 amI’ll try new ice cream flavors as long as they contain chocolate-how about hosting an ice cream sundae party? they are always so much fun-everybody makes their own with all different toppings-use Turkey hill icecream natch
January 3rd, 2008 at 8:28 amSomeone on one of the other topics mentioned a dark chocolate flavor. Whatever happened to Death By Chocolate? That seemed to go away like the round plastic artistic containers. You could set up a museum for those.
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:30 pmWhen we get to the bottom of a carton and there’s only one serving left, we use a special spoon (iced tea spoon) to eat that last serving from the carton.
I will definitely be at the Turkey Hill Classic in May. It’s a great neighborhood event. Thank you.
I don’t think I’ve ever had ice cream for breakfast. Hmmm.
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:24 pmAll your resolutions sound good to me. Since I haven’t made any I’ll steal some of your ideas, if you don’t mind.
January 2nd, 2008 at 10:24 pmDAVID - We do give tours to certain groups now and then (Ernie is our official tour guide), but unfortunately our factory isn’t set up for regular public tours.
January 2nd, 2008 at 6:25 pmCan you take tours of the Turkey Hill factory? If so how? Is it actually at Turkey Hill?
January 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 pmHug a cow since they are the ones who supply the milk to make ice cream!!!!
January 2nd, 2008 at 5:08 pmI’ll commit to all of them!
