washington-cherry-tree.jpgHappy President’s Day! We’re not sure what the appropriate celebration is for President’s Day, but we suggest digging into a little Cherry Duetto while reading the story about a young George Washington chopping down his father’s prized cherry tree. Check out the original writing of the tale here.

It’s a great story about the value of honesty, even if some people doubt its authenticity (that’s irony at its best!). Feel free to read it aloud to your children or grandchildren, or just read it to yourself. But don’t read it aloud to yourself…unless you want to attract strange looks from people around you.

A little cherry duetto sounds good. I prefer the mango though. Either way it’s a fitting tribute to our forefathers.

  2. Beth Katz says:

Black Cherry is appropriate and very yummy.

  3. Rosemary says:

Sounds delicious. Will have to give it a try in honor of good old George Washington.

My husband’s favorite flavor of anything! He loves cherry pie and cherry ice cream. In fact, the nonfat cherry chocolate cordial is his favorite flavor. We’ll try the cherry duette in honor of George.

A great story, thank you, it made me remember my days in grammer school. And speaking of Duetto, I didn’t have the cherry so I celebrated with mango and some chocolate pretzel!!

  8. Bob Kessler Jr says:

You can take any Turkey Hill flavor and add cherries to it to celebrate. Cherry syrup on vanilla ice cream is worth a try.

My service Dog loves Turkey Hill too and snaged some cherry Duetto out of the frezzer at the store for us on our last shopping trip ….. for some reason all the Duetto was gone except for the one container way in the back …. the cherry is her favorite!

Boo-hoo-hoo, no Cherry Duetto at the store today and no Turkey Hill Gertrude Hawk’s Box of Chocolates ice cream. I wish I could reserve one of these two flavors for next time, but there are no guarentees. maybe next week.

  12. Pat says:

I think the celebration deserves a little Moose Tracks denali, with some cherry duetto on the side. All sounds great!

I never saw the chocolate cherry cordial in our store! Now I’m gonna have to find out why not! That’s one of my all time favorites!

I like the Mango better than the Cherry but it is all good to me. I did not see the chocolate cherry cordial either. Maybe I did not look in the right place!

    My favorite CHERRY TOPPING:

1 can or glass jar of cherry pie filling
    1/2 cup of orange marmalade
    1/2 cup port wine

Heat in a saucepan until marmalade is melted. Serve warm over ice cream or pound cake.

Since I couldn’t find Box of Chocolates in any of 6 stores had to buy Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream instead. Must have cherry pie and Cherry ice cream for George Washington’s birthday. Oops, hope I can get out tomorrow and get the pie. I have the ice cream.
