SECOND SCOOP: ICE CREAM ON DEMAND!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
The following was originally posted in July 2007. Who wouldn’t want to have one of these machines around the office — or in their home?!
You can get soda and coffee from a vending machine, chips and candy from a vending machine, even egg salad sandwiches and soup from a vending machine. So it was only a matter of time until someone invented a vending machine that dispenses custom made ice cream.
That’s exactly what the folks at MooBella have done. We first heard about their creation when they won a Food Network Award in the category of “Icy Innovations” (a category Turkey Hill hopes to win next year for its work with Duetto).
As far as we can tell, the machine exists only in a few markets in the Boston area, but it’s designed for use just about anywhere—malls, cafeterias, museums, universities, living rooms. It uses a touch-screen (below) and a flash freezing method to create 12 flavors of premium or low-carb ice cream with your choice of several mix-ins.

In movies about the future, this would be one of the crazy inventions the main character uses before strapping on his jet pack and zooming off to work. Except this thing is actually real!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

SURE WOULD LOVE TO SEE ONE OF THESE MASHINE IN MY LIFE TIME
April 7th, 2008 at 4:53 pm[...] is where MooBella steps in with their Ice Cream Vending Machine.
March 20th, 2008 at 8:22 amThis is like a dream come true! Not only is icecream on demand a great idea, I am very excited about the flavors available. I’ve never seen Maple icecream or Cake Batter icecream. This might be worth a trip to Boston!
March 17th, 2008 at 9:11 amYes that is a great idea and I would love to have one also. But what is even better is to see my Grandsons faces when they would see it in our home, filled with only Turkey hill ice cream!
February 28th, 2008 at 1:48 pmI want to let everyone I know I found Box of Chocolates at my local grocery store. I do live in Lancaster, but hopefully this means that it will be arriving in stores further away shortly, because it tastes even better than it looks!!!!
February 28th, 2008 at 1:20 pmA really great idea. At work we are always craving ice cream, especially in the summer but no one wants to drive to get it. We have a soda machine, it would be great to have an ice cream machine. My thought, wouldn’t it have to be cleaned inside??
February 27th, 2008 at 12:24 pmThe more I have thought about this vending machine the more I think I would not mind saving up for one an putting it in my kitchen I am sure I could make room for it!!!!
February 25th, 2008 at 3:56 pmtalk about a way to keep employees happy !
February 24th, 2008 at 4:12 pm[...] Read the rest of this great post here [...]
February 24th, 2008 at 1:16 amI happened to see the Foodnetwork show on the vending machine. Pretty interesting. Most people who tries it, loved it. I’ll take o9ne in my house, filled of course with TH.
I’ve also been to 5 grocery stores in my area (in western PA. near Pittsburgh) and can’t find any “Box of Choclates” flavor. If any one in this area has found any,let me know.
Thanks
February 23rd, 2008 at 6:20 pmWhere are these machines? I live in the Boston area and haven’t found one. Of course I want it to be filled with Turkey Hill. Yum, yum.
February 23rd, 2008 at 11:17 amYUMMY!
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:44 amI clicked on the link that you provided for MooBella. It was interesting to hear all the favorable comments. Since this was back in July 2007 I wonder where this machine ranks today. It seems like you get a small portion in a cup. I still like the idea of going to my freezer and getting as much Turkey Hill ice cream as I want,
February 23rd, 2008 at 7:27 amLove to see one of those in my plant lunchroom
February 23rd, 2008 at 4:37 amLove to see one of those at my plant
February 23rd, 2008 at 4:34 amMoo Bella would probably ban me from the premises. One look at that machine face and I would be drooling all over the metal! LOL
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:47 amYa know those litte rest stops along the turnpike? Wow,, those ice cream vending machines would be GREAT at those!
February 22nd, 2008 at 8:52 pmWhat a great idea …. when will it come to a mall near us all?
February 22nd, 2008 at 4:47 pmWow that is a great machine.
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:46 pmI’m not sure how good this would be because most things from a vending machine are not the greatest. I’ll continue to buy my Turkey Hill ice cream from my local grocery store and I know that will be excellent!
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:31 pmI would have to have a second or maybe third job to pay for the ice cream from the machine, especially if it were filled with Turkey Hill!
February 22nd, 2008 at 11:59 amWhere is the machine? If I find it maybe I can get a taste of the “Box of Chocolate” ice cream. So far I have been to 5 local supermarkets in the central NJ area and have not found it.
