ROUND TWO: THE DELICIOUS EIGHT HAS BEEN DECIDED!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
We asked for your votes and you delivered! Over 15,000 votes were cast in the first four days of Turkey Hill’s Ultimate Flavor Tournament and eight winners have emerged from the Sweet 16 round. Those favorites will now face off as the “Delicious Eight.” The new polls are up on the right, so be sure to get your votes in to decide who makes it to the “Frosty Four!”
Remember, at the end of the tournament, we’ll give away a free one month supply of ice cream to 10 commenters chosen at random and one lucky reader will receive a ONE YEAR supply of ice cream.
As always, here’s Ernie’s expert feedback and predictions on this week’s match-ups:
Raspberry Duetto vs. Light Recipe Moose Tracks
“These are two very different flavors, except for the fact that both are lower in fat and calories than most ice creams. Both cruised to easy wins over their competition in the first round, so I expect a hard fought battle here. In the end, I predict a narrow win by Moose Tracks over the Duetto rookie.”
All Natural Mint Chocolate Chip vs. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frozen Yogurt
“Mint Chocolate Chip had the biggest margin of victory in the first round and really looks strong in this tournament. It’s got momentum, it’s got flavor and it definitely has fans. It’ll take an upset for frozen yogurt to win this match-up.”
Eagles Touchdown Sundae vs. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup
“I’ll be watching this one closely throughout the week. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is a favorite in the tournament, but Eagles Touchdown Sundae is coming off a big upset over Phillies Graham Slam in the first round. Anything can happen here.”
Vanilla Bean vs. Black Raspberry
“Does anyone stand a chance against the vanilla powerhouse in this tournament? There are a few flavors that might be able to put up a fight, but I think this might be the end of the line for Black Raspberry. Don’t get me wrong, I love Black Raspberry, but they just look a little overmatched here.”

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

I can’t believe that chocolate peanut butter cup (ugh!) is winning over raspberry duetto, and vanilla bean is ahead of mint chocolate chip. Wake up America!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 2:07 pmI missed the vote for this one!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:15 amI totally love your chocolate peanut butter cup.
March 22nd, 2008 at 5:49 pmMy dream job is to taste test new ice cream flavors. I’ve been told God will give us the desires of our hearts in Heaven, so I can’t tell you how many times I’ve prayed that endless delicious bowls of Turkey Hill await me in eternity!
March 22nd, 2008 at 1:16 pmVan. and Mint Choc. are going to be the last 2 standing.
March 21st, 2008 at 11:42 pmI think the chocoholics missed the voting on this one! Since theres’ no Extreme Cookies and Creme or Chocolate Marshmallow, I’ll have to go with the Mint Chocolate Chip.
March 21st, 2008 at 3:32 pmMy daughter had her wisdom teeth out yesterday, so my kids have eaten a whole carton of Vanilla Bean light in peanut-butter-banana-chocolate smoothies in less than 24 hours. I went to the store to get more ice cream, and they had Turkey Hill ice cream samples. This was my first time for the Root Beer Duetto. Yum!
For the tournament, I’m hoping one of my favorites — the mint chocolate chip — wins it all.
March 21st, 2008 at 12:01 pmI see lotsof Vanilla fans in these comments, but I think Mint Chocolate Chip will win in the end.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:23 amvanilla????? how lame is that???? raspberry duetto totally rocks!!!!!! why settle for same old same old when you can take your tummy on a frozen fruity sleigh ride!!??? vanilla is soooo last century.
March 19th, 2008 at 7:30 pmAs a weight conscious consumer, I’m a big fan of the new Duetto and Light Recipe flavors! Keep’em coming!
March 19th, 2008 at 7:18 pmCome on Mint Chocolate Chip or Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.
March 19th, 2008 at 6:59 pmMy pick to win is Moose Tracks! Although I also like, Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Peanut butter Cup. Aww shucks I like all the flavors :).
March 19th, 2008 at 4:55 pmNo flavor has a chance against Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup. I predict it will beat out Vanilla!
March 19th, 2008 at 2:09 pmEven though surveys show vanilla is America’s favorite ice cream flavor, chocolate peanutbutter cup is my pick, like a Reeses.
March 19th, 2008 at 1:53 pmEagles Touchtown will score! Raspberry Duetto is another winner!!
March 19th, 2008 at 11:17 amI think it will come down to mint and vanilla in the end
March 19th, 2008 at 9:42 amAll the flavors are great. I have never passed up any. I would like to know when Duetto is going to have chocolate venice ice and vanilla soft serve? Now thats what I’m talking about! Moose Tracks will probobley win for the light ice cream. Just keep them coming Turkey Hill. Great job!!
March 19th, 2008 at 9:02 amMy favs are mint choc. chip and reg. choc. chip. I love ur “flecks” of chocolate thru out…AWESOME!
March 19th, 2008 at 7:31 amI agree with Barbara (March 18, 9:29PM)
March 19th, 2008 at 5:23 amSouthern Lemon Pie and the Lemon Duetto seem to have gotten left out of this round.I can never find the Southern Lemon Pie even though the Turkey Hill calendar had it listd for distribution in January. This is one that should be a regular year round. Getting to the ones in the race at hand, there is no flavor that can ever beat VANILLA BEAN. It’s a flavor that is savored and can go very well with any dessert. GO VANILLA BEAN
I think Vanilla Bean will win
March 18th, 2008 at 10:45 pmI think Vanilla Bean will win in the end
March 18th, 2008 at 10:44 pmI think Vanilla Bean will win out in the end
March 18th, 2008 at 10:42 pmwhen did anyone ever see chocolate and peanut butter voted out of any place. Best when we can keep it on our tongue and savor the great taste and TURKEY HILL flavor.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:38 pmVanilla Bean–Vanilla Bean—Vanilla Bean—-It’s tops
March 18th, 2008 at 10:34 pmLooks like a pretty tough competition. I think it’s gonna be Vanilla Bean or Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.
March 18th, 2008 at 9:50 pmWhat a fun contest, but so hard to choose. All Turkey Hill ice cream is great!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:35 pmWhen it all said and done Mint Chocolate chip
March 18th, 2008 at 9:32 pmMaking my selections just makes me sooooo hungry for some ice cream. How about a different flavor to sample each week of the year? That would be HEAVEN!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:29 pmI’m still looking for a way to vote for Southern Lemon Pie, but maybe next contest. Tukey Hill has left other ice cream competitors in the dust, and Lemon Duetto and Southern Lemon Pie prove it.
March 18th, 2008 at 9:29 pmUpon selecting just one choice each time, I sure am ready for some ice cream. It sure would be great to have a sample of each for the year!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:26 pmYou know how I like Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, but Turkey Hill Tin Roof Sundae is pretty good too. How come that one didn’t make the cut?
March 18th, 2008 at 9:21 pmI am not a big fan of chocolate ice cream with chocolate in it. Would rather have the peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream. But hey you can’t please all the people all the time and there are enough flavors for someone to find one they like.
March 18th, 2008 at 8:03 pmI love the Mint Chocolate Chip but Chocolate Marshmallow is my real favorite. It must be everyone’s favorite because I have a hard time finding it in the supermarket.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:34 pmI enjoy the contest and the ice creams.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:32 pmThanks for the chances to vote.
We are upset that the Phillies Graham Slam got eliminated since it is time for baseball season. I picked the top winners again and love all flavors of Turkey Hill icecream I only wish that we could win and it’s esp time for someone from NJ to win
March 18th, 2008 at 6:43 pmboo hoo! what happened to my chocolate??
March 18th, 2008 at 5:52 pmWhatever flavors win, Turkey Hill is always a winner!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 5:44 pmAll natural vanilla–What could be better and “gooder” than that?
March 18th, 2008 at 5:42 pmWho picked the flavors? My favorites were never included:
March 18th, 2008 at 5:33 pmCherry Duetto
Death by Chocolate
Okay, not enough of you out there eat the Skinny Minty….it’s gone….thank goodness it’s still in the stores!!!!
So, that being said…going to have to think the Raspberry Duetto will take it all. Although, never underestimate the the power of a true classic (as they truly never do go out of style like the trendier ones do)….vanilla. I wouldn’t be surprised to see vanilla make it to the final, I mean, frosty four. Oh yah, and ….go UCONN!!
March 18th, 2008 at 5:19 pmOk, interesting flavors, but I got them all right so far. As for the Eagles comment in the beginning, Turkey Hill is a hometown ice cream from PA, so…who better to choose than a hometown team. Go Turkey Hill. Amy
March 18th, 2008 at 5:16 pmWho picked the flavor match ups? I didn’t want to vote for either the Mint Chocolate Chip or the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, but wanted to vote for both the Raspberry and the Vanilla. By the way, although I may really like the ice cream I will never eat anything named for the Eagles football team - change the name - Eagles are not popular with everyone!!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 5:01 pmVanilla! Vanilla! Vanilla! is and always will be
March 18th, 2008 at 4:39 pmLight Moose Tracks is the best…..It is hard to believe that it is a “light” ice cream….
March 18th, 2008 at 4:39 pmDecisions, decisions! Some of the choices were easy and some too hard. Classic Vanilla goes with so many things… including fresh black raspberries! I almost always keep vanilla in the freezer (I put some in my coffee this morning) but for a second choice it just depends on my mood!
March 18th, 2008 at 4:38 pmvanilla! vanilla! vanilla! still the best!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 4:37 pmchocolate peanut butter cup ,can’t get any better then that!!!! that will be the winner!!
March 18th, 2008 at 4:28 pmI think chocolate peanutbutter cup will be the winner! peanut butter and choclate!!!!can’t get much better than that…………
March 18th, 2008 at 4:26 pmLots of great flavors but for me everything starts with Vanilla Bean!
March 18th, 2008 at 2:23 pmLove vanilla bean it will be the winner.
March 18th, 2008 at 1:36 pmCan Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup go all the way to the finals???? Hope so!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 1:30 pmTough to vote, since all the ones that made it this far are my favorites.
March 18th, 2008 at 1:30 pmSo may the best Turkey Hill Ice Cream which just might be Vanilla comming out on top. Good Luck and looking forward to round 3.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup all the way!!!!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 1:29 pmI hope Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup goes all the way!!!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 1:28 pmChocolate Peanut Butter Cup all the way!!!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 1:27 pmOkay, I’m batting 1000-the wrong way. All my favorites have lost.
March 18th, 2008 at 1:20 pmI have one more week to go before I can sample all the flavors listed here. It really was a sacrifice giving up ice cream for Lent. I think I am going to go crazy and taste them all. I do hope my favorite grocery store has ice cream on sale this week.
March 18th, 2008 at 1:18 pmno, matter what choice, you pick turkey hill is a winner in our household and hopefully around the whole world too
March 18th, 2008 at 1:06 pmRaspberry duetto, yum, yum, had it last night again. I am ADDICTED, so many delish flavors, but I still wind up with Raspberry duetto.
March 18th, 2008 at 12:51 pmYour still can’t beat Light Recipe Moose Tracks for it’s creamy texture. It’s the best.
March 18th, 2008 at 12:44 pmWOW!! Decisions, decisions, decisions. This is becoming a really tough playing field! Especially when all Turkey Hill Ice Cream flavors are soooo good!
March 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pmI would have to say, of the flavors left, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is my favorite!
March 18th, 2008 at 12:26 pmMan, this is tough! How can anyone pick just one favorite flavor of TH ice cream? My favorites change with my moods. I’m having a tough time voting,, cause some of the ones I REALLY like, aren’t even in the running,, but I choose from the two, the one I like best of them. I”m anxious to see the final outcome!
March 18th, 2008 at 12:06 pmThis one I am being nice to hubby by giving him the vote. I am sure he will pick the Moose Tracks and Peanut Butter which I would differ but then again we often do that at elections. We did both want that Box of Chocolate which I never found in all our local stores. It could be that it sounded sooo good those that found it bought mutiple packages of it.
March 18th, 2008 at 11:34 amTough choices…they are all delicious!
March 18th, 2008 at 11:23 amGreat choices…they are all my favorites!!
March 18th, 2008 at 11:17 amOrange Swirl and Black Cherry are still my all time favorites , with Black Raspberry a very close third
March 18th, 2008 at 11:05 amVanilla is the best - especially with thick fudge swirled throughout!!
March 18th, 2008 at 10:46 amI`m still a maple walnut favorite. Just can`t wait for it to come in the stores…I also love the chocolate peanut butter……..I can feel it in my mouth right niw…..YYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMM………
March 18th, 2008 at 10:27 amI’ve not seen Cherry Orchard sherbert in the contest and that is my absolute all time favorite. I just love the way it is loaded with humungous sweet black cherries.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:26 amI’m just not a chocolate fan, so I can’t even bring myself to vote on the sports vs. peanut butter; but it made for an easy decision on the duetto vs. light. I’m not a mint fan either, but I’m a sucker for the cookie dough, so that was a no-brainer. And as much as I dig fruit, I think nothing will ever beat a classic. That’s why they’re called CLASSIC!
March 18th, 2008 at 10:18 amHow can I possibly choose between Black Raspberry and Vanilla Bean? They are both wonderful and even better together.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:00 amWhile black raspberry is my favorite, any Turkey Hill flavor is great!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:57 amWhat an upset it would be if Vanilla didn’t make it to the Frosty Four! I think it might be a final contender as well!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:49 amI just voted after looking at the flavor descriptions once again. It’s such a tough decision especially for the ice cream lovers.
March 18th, 2008 at 9:37 amThis is hard to do, especially when 2 of my favorites are together and I have so many favorite flavors but the top of my list is Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and Moose Tracks.
March 18th, 2008 at 9:18 amIt’s getting tougher to choose… a dirty job, but I guess we TH lovers gotta do it!
March 18th, 2008 at 9:10 amHate to see 2 of my favorites go against each other early in the contest but though vannila bean is my regular black rasberry has that special taste
March 18th, 2008 at 8:48 amI love of the ice creams with choc., nuts, candies any of the goodies in it. I truly love lemon sherbert and would like to see lemon sherbert. Go Turkey Hill!!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 8:41 amLots of Vanilla and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup lovers sounding off! Could those be the final two flavors? We’ll have to wait and see!
March 18th, 2008 at 8:25 amMy life is pretty busy and not at all dull (3 young kids, a full time job etc..) but I couldn’t wait to find out the winners from last week.
March 18th, 2008 at 8:10 amI wasn’t thinking about how the new flavors would be paired. I haven’t voted yet but it’s going to be fun (and difficult).
March 18th, 2008 at 8:09 amIt’s too difficult to vote. I love all flavors.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:54 amNice choices. Anything chocolate or peanut butter does the job.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:42 amMake all your ice cream with peanut butter and I will be in heaven. the lite Moose tracks gets my BIG vote. I buy TH all the time but how about some coupons for $1’s off!
March 18th, 2008 at 7:41 amLet’s keep collecting those Black Raspberry votes. That smooth true taste has to win. It is a local flavor!
March 18th, 2008 at 7:32 amThis is great. Results are very interesting, in that everyone’s favorites are obviously quite different.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:19 amI agree with every commentor’s view. Every single favor is a winner. There are no losers when you select Turkey Hill. The hardest decision is which favor do I choose this time!
March 18th, 2008 at 7:17 amI made brownies yesterday and served with vanilla ice cream,(turkey hill of course) they are a great combination.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:04 amThe number one USA Olympic canadate should be Vanilla Bean. So versitile, you can add anything to it as fruit and it goes so well with warm apple crisp.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:50 amIt appears that the front runners are the more traditional flavors. Simple, but elegant!
March 18th, 2008 at 6:16 amOkay, I voted, picking my favorite flavors. I look forward to seeing the final results! Actually, I’d enjoy any one of the flavors so it’s always hard to choose.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:13 amI’m so very happy to see my all time fav still in the running!
March 18th, 2008 at 6:12 amV-A-N-I-L-L-A!!! GO Vanilla!!!!
This is the creamiest competition ever. Who will win in the race of the classics of chocolate mint and chocolate chip cookie dough? Will it be fruit or vanilla that America favors? Whoever wins, everyone wins when they indulge in Turkey Hill!
March 18th, 2008 at 5:34 amI love peanuts but I can’t stand peanuts or peanut butter in ice cream.
March 18th, 2008 at 5:33 amMint chocolate Chip will be the overall winner.
someone mentioned rootbeer duetto? havn’t seen that flavor yet! I’d better get to the store!!!
March 18th, 2008 at 4:48 amOh, my, since health problems have downgraded my ice cream consumption to minimal and infrequent….this tournament is making me VERY ANXIOUS! I would love to load my freezer with every competing flavor and give each a substantial taste test. But, alas, my dr. has my hands tied….no ice cream scooping allowed.
March 17th, 2008 at 10:56 pmSorry folks, you can’t touch the All Natural Mint Chololate Chip in this tourney. It will freeze the competition right out of the box! Besides, you can’t go against the green on St. Patrick’s Day!
March 17th, 2008 at 9:57 pmI never thought I’d be voting for a plain Vanilla bean in all of my life!! I’m all about chocolate and toppings!!! What’s going on with this picture!!!!
I do thoroughly enjoy this tournament!!! I got myself the Banana Split light yesterday and some Rootbeer duetto which is absolutely exciting!!! Can’t wait to see who wins!!!
March 17th, 2008 at 8:00 pmAs much as I am not a Vanilla person, I think it will beat out my beloved Black Raspberry.
March 17th, 2008 at 7:57 pmChocolate Peanut Butter Cup vs Eagles Touchdown Sundae…what a tough match-up!
March 17th, 2008 at 7:01 pmBlack raspbery Rocks!
March 17th, 2008 at 6:52 pmHey, Hey, Hey - Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup just cannot be beaten by any other flavor.
March 17th, 2008 at 4:37 pmWhy not combine two for a new flavor?
March 17th, 2008 at 3:47 pmMy vote would be on Raspberry Duetto Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. YUM!!!
My prediction for upset special of the week is Black Raspberry over Vanilla Bean. The Turkey Hill fruit flavors are too true to go down without a real fight!
March 17th, 2008 at 1:47 pmI beg to differ. Classic vanilla bean!Goes with everything!!!!
March 17th, 2008 at 11:57 amI’ll put money (or ice cream) on Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup as the winner of the entire tournament!
