ROUND FOUR: THE FINAL MATCH-UP IS HERE

Posted by: Turkey Hill Team

ultimate-flavor-tournament-logo.jpgFirst of all, let’s give a big round of applause (and by “big round” we mean “big bowl”) to Raspberry Duetto and Mint Chocolate Chip. They may have lost their match-ups in last week’s round of the Ultimate Flavor Tournament, but they still finished among the top four flavors and that’s something to be proud of. Both fought hard over the last few weeks and we expect, with a little off-season training and improvement that they’ll be back in next year’s tournament ready to make another run at the title.

Which brings us to our final two flavors: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and Vanilla Bean. They’re both great and both are worthy of the “Ultimate Flavor” title. But who will win? That’s up to you. Voting begins right now (on the right) and the winner will be crowned next Monday.

Once again, at the end of the tournament, we’ll give away a free one month supply of ice cream to 10 commenters chosen at random and one lucky reader will receive a ONE YEAR supply of ice cream. Also once again, here’s Ernie with his opinion of this historic match-up:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup vs. Vanilla Bean

“These two flavors couldn’t be more different, but I’m not surprised to see these two facing off in the final week. Vanilla is a classic – a staple of the root beer float or banana split and capable of being topped with just about anything – while Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is chock full of goodies and represents the perfect marriage of two of the greatest flavors ever created by nature.

I can’t predict a winner here, but this is essentially a battle of new school versus old school. One is the product of (relatively) modern ice cream flavor technology and the other has been around since the earliest days of ice cream history. Look for this one to come down the wire, with only a handful of votes separating these two fierce competitors.”

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup all the way, baby! It deserves some recognition. Vanilla’s already known as the most popular, sales-wise.

Wow! A dead heat. I can’t believe it. I must’ve led a sheltered youth. I never realized vanilla was so popular. The only plus noted by many folks is that it can be dressed up in so many different ways.

But Choco PB can be dressed up too – choclate crunchies, chocolate syrup, caramel, fudge, cherries, whipped cream, and my favorite BACON!!!!!!!!!!

I still give my vote to Choco PB for being able to stand on its own, unadulterated and be something vanilla will never be – sinful!

My favorite is mint chocolate chip, but the kids finished off that carton tonight. Vanilla is pretty darn good melting on top of apple crisp. So I’ll vote for that. The mint chocolate chip came upstairs, but my vote here goes to vanilla.

Nothing is as versatile as Vanilla Bean. Would you want fruit pie ala mode with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup? Can’t wait to see which one wins. This has been fun!!

Dani wrote:

Wow!!! Could this race be any closer???

I figured the classic Vanilla would win by a mile, but CPBC is really holding it’s own! If it were just vanilla, I could understand all the “plain” arguments… but Vanilla Bean has that extra little something (ahem… grains of the actual BEANS) that give it that kick which keeps it from being just plain vanilla.

Of any candy in the world, chocolate peanut butter cups are probably my favorite. But combining them WITH my ice cream… too much. Go Vanilla Bean, Go!!!

brenda wrote:
