AND THE WINNER IS…

Posted by: Turkey Hill Team

vanilla-bean.jpgIt started with 16 flavors, but only one would be named the winner. After four weeks and over 20,000 of your votes, the winner of the first annual Turkey Hill Ultimate Flavor Tournament is…Vanilla Bean! In the final round of the tournament, Vanilla Bean narrowly beat Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup by a 52 percent to 48 percent margin (257 votes to 238 votes) to take the title.

We really couldn’t have asked for a closer final match-up. The race went back and forth all week, with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup actually leading by just a few votes as late as Friday afternoon. But in the end, it was the ever versatile Vanilla Bean taking home the win. A big congratulations goes out to Vanilla Bean and all of its fans. As for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, don’t worry. It’ll return next year to make another run for the title.

Speaking of next year, the Ultimate Flavor Tournament will be back, but since it can only feature 16 flavors, we need your help to decide which ones should be included in the Sweet 16 next March. On the right is a series of polls featuring all of the Turkey Hill flavors that weren’t included in this year’s tournament line-up. If there’s any that you’d like to see in next year’s games, now’s your chance to sound off.

Also, as promised, today we’ll be choosing one comment at random from the past four weeks to receive a year’s supply of Turkey Hill ice cream. Ten others will also be chosen to receive a one month supply. We’ll let you know who the winners are as soon as we can. Good luck!

I love Turkey Hill Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream! There is no other ice cream on the market that comes close to it in taste. My local store did not have it and I went 15 miles to another store just to get it. I will make the trip everytime to get it as it is worth it! Keep making Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream!!!

my puppies only eat; # 1 Turkey Hill Ice Cream;; they are special guys; just picky for good ice cream

Both vanilla and chocolate peanut butter cup are too plain for me. I really enjoy more complex ice creams like Gertrude Hawk Box of Chocolates.

turkey hill vanilla bean ia most likeable ,you can add any topping for any one in the family

Niecarrah wrote:

Well, Vanilla is the base for any creation! So it only makes sense. But next year will be different not basic.

My hat is off to Vanilla Bean! My absolute favorite. I eat it plain…I eat it dressed up…I eat it anyway I can. I love trying all the flavors but I keep coming back to Vanilla Bean.

Darcy F. wrote:

I knew it….funny though how know one really eats it alone. It’s either a la moded, floated, drizzled or
glammed up with cookie pieces, sprinkles, etc. It’s a classic.

Now it’s time to turn my attention to next year’s tourney…go coconut creme pie! You’ve got to try it, it’s to die for. I saw the chocolate cocnut duetto on a quick non-ice cream buying trip to the market during Lent, but haven’t seen it since. Am looking forward to trying that out!

Hey, how about an ice cream Olympics?? And August is the perfect time to have to try out all the flavors in the competitions! Just a thought!

Hurrah for vanilla. I add different things if I want to change it, but usually go with the plain old vanilla.

I think Vanilla Bean is appropriate for March Madness. After all, it is very much a team player and combines with so many other syrups, nuts, fruits, and flavors. Thank you, TURKEY HILL. This was another fun contest.

Turkey Hill’s best-selling ice cream in 2007 was….drumroll….Vanilla Bean! It was closely followed by Neopolitan and Butter Pecan. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup didn’t show up until tenth place!

Yeah Vanilla Bean! and congrats to CPBC for such a close finish. Either way, how can any of us go wrong with TH ice cream? I have truly enjoyed reading the posts during the competition. I also got some great ideas for flavor combinations. Hmmmm, where to start?? With TH of course.

Well, vanilla bean is a very flavorful ice cream as opposed to plain vanilla. We like it, also, but it comes after Party Stix, pretzels and cookies and stuff. And our no. one chocolate peanut butter cup.

Artemis wrote:

wonderful I can add my peanut butter cups to this flavor!!!

Mike Y wrote:

Vanilla is the most versatile and is great by itself

Amy K Gross wrote:

Once again, Congrats to Vanilla. I’ll tell you an awesome yogurt…the orange cream and vanilla one. Oh my goodness! The whole family loves it. Amy

Way to go, Vanilla Bean! It was a hard fought battle. While I usually stick to my core group of favorite TH flavors, this contest has made me want to try them all!

What flavor is Turkey Hill’s number #1
seller? I know there are lots and lots of serious Turkey Hill consumers out there that do not have computers, especially senior citizens. Another consideration is the consumer that does not realize this site exists. Is Vanilla Bean the #1 in sales? I think ALL the Turkey Hill flavors are a winner with somebody! Thanks T.H.T.!!!

christie wrote:

Congrats to classic Vanilla Bean – You can have it as is or really add whatever toppings tickle your fancy for the day. Yahoo!!

Susan wrote:

Congratulations to Vanilla

Maryann wrote:

Congrats to you Vanilla Bean and to Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup for giving a good run. I had a piece of blueberry pie topped with Vanilla Bean, all I can say is WOW!!! Thanks again Turkey Hill!

Yes, Vanilla Bean is a great flavor but hands down the best Turkey Hill flavor made is TIN ROOF SUNDAE. Don’t ever stop making trs but do me a “favor” and please add more NUTS to the recipe.

When I saw this email in my inbox I jumped to it right away!! Hooray for Vanilla Bean!!! (But I will continue to support the long-shot Baked Apple Dumpling until it gets a shot at joining the race!!) :)

Yay – Vanilla Bean!

I wish you had the descriptions of the limited edition flavors on the web site. It was tough to vote when I wasn’t sure what the name was really telling me about the ingredients.

Karen wrote:

I eat vanilla literally every night. The other flavors sound fantastic but I was happy to see vanilla take the title.

Karen wrote:

Wow I thought it was difficult to vote during the sweet sixteen but this was tough as well. I’m sure for all the ice cream lovers I’ll find agreement. I love so many flavors.

mary frey wrote:

I think your cows are the Winners ,they give the great texture and rich cream to any flavor, but my best pick is vanilla .

Sarah wrote:

What about a sherbet flavor vote? I think Cherry Orchard is the all time best flavor TH ever made. I have not been able to find it at my Giant lately and am having withdrawal symptoms.

Bob Kessler Jr wrote:

Vanilla Bean was the ultimate winner but there was no real loser when you pick the other Turkey Hill flavors. Could another vanilla flavor win next year? Anything is possible!!

Bonnie wrote:

Ah – vanilla, It’ so vanilla!

Can’t wait till next years contest

Caroline wrote:

I am not a vanilla fan but for your new poll I feel it is not fair to the vannila lovers to have both french and original since it will split their vote and make others look better. I voted for Strawberries & Cream

Rolande wrote:

Congrats to Vanilla Bean..It was my 2nd choice…Don`t fret, I`m still a good “Chocolate Peanutbutter Cup ” Lover no doubt about it…………

This was fun….

Congratulations Vanilla Bean! I was rooting for peanut butter, but, I can always add peanut butter sauce to Vanilla Bean.

Christine wrote:

Well even though I might have done poorly in the actual bracket, I still picked the ultimate winner! How could you go wrong with a classic like Vanilla? :)

Margaret M wrote:

What a close contest! I voted for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, which I love, but how can anyone be disappointed when all Turkey Hill flavors are winners.

Donna wrote:

How many flavors of ice cream were
inspired by adding to vanilla bean, so no wonder it won!

Cinda wrote:

Well I was originally voting for vanilla but changed in the end to choc. peanut butter cup. As it goes vanilla can be plain and good if not feeling well. It can also be dressed up with toppings as many as you want . Great topper or add in to pies and fruit desserts or to make an icecream soda. Whatever Turkey Hill always rocks for quality and great taste.

Sue wrote:

I wasn’t surprised to see Vanilla Bean win the contest,, but to be honest,,, as far as it winning because “its so versatile”,,,,, I do that with alot of the flavors! If you use your imagination, you can make all sorts of combo’s!

Vanilla Bean is a deserving winner. Tastes so good I feel like a sinner. Ontop of hot waffles covered in berries
or in a simple cup smothered with cherries. Makes no difference how its eaten, Vanilla Bean can’t be beaten. Thank you Turkey Hill!

Amy K Gross wrote:

You can never go wrong with Vanilla. I think it’s the add ins that are the key. You can add smashed pretzels or put it in coke or rootbeer. You can have it with pie or put caramel on it. So…Vanilla deserves to win. :) Amy
