AND THE WINNER IS…
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
It started with 16 flavors, but only one would be named the winner. After four weeks and over 20,000 of your votes, the winner of the first annual Turkey Hill Ultimate Flavor Tournament is…Vanilla Bean! In the final round of the tournament, Vanilla Bean narrowly beat Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup by a 52 percent to 48 percent margin (257 votes to 238 votes) to take the title.
We really couldn’t have asked for a closer final match-up. The race went back and forth all week, with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup actually leading by just a few votes as late as Friday afternoon. But in the end, it was the ever versatile Vanilla Bean taking home the win. A big congratulations goes out to Vanilla Bean and all of its fans. As for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, don’t worry. It’ll return next year to make another run for the title.
Speaking of next year, the Ultimate Flavor Tournament will be back, but since it can only feature 16 flavors, we need your help to decide which ones should be included in the Sweet 16 next March. On the right is a series of polls featuring all of the Turkey Hill flavors that weren’t included in this year’s tournament line-up. If there’s any that you’d like to see in next year’s games, now’s your chance to sound off.
Also, as promised, today we’ll be choosing one comment at random from the past four weeks to receive a year’s supply of Turkey Hill ice cream. Ten others will also be chosen to receive a one month supply. We’ll let you know who the winners are as soon as we can. Good luck!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

May 4th, 2008 at 4:40 pmBoth vanilla and chocolate peanut butter cup are too plain for me. I really enjoy more complex ice creams like Gertrude Hawk Box of Chocolates.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:30 pmturkey hill vanilla bean ia most likeable ,you can add any topping for any one in the family
April 27th, 2008 at 8:29 amWell, Vanilla is the base for any creation! So it only makes sense. But next year will be different not basic.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:04 amMy hat is off to Vanilla Bean! My absolute favorite. I eat it plain…I eat it dressed up…I eat it anyway I can. I love trying all the flavors but I keep coming back to Vanilla Bean.
April 10th, 2008 at 8:31 pmI knew it….funny though how know one really eats it alone. It’s either a la moded, floated, drizzled or
glammed up with cookie pieces, sprinkles, etc. It’s a classic.
Now it’s time to turn my attention to next year’s tourney…go coconut creme pie! You’ve got to try it, it’s to die for. I saw the chocolate cocnut duetto on a quick non-ice cream buying trip to the market during Lent, but haven’t seen it since. Am looking forward to trying that out!
Hey, how about an ice cream Olympics?? And August is the perfect time to have to try out all the flavors in the competitions! Just a thought!
April 10th, 2008 at 5:28 pmmy little dogs ,well there are not little ,but when I say or spell Turkey Hill ,they know they will get a dish of vanilla bean , too .that”s there flavor,says Max AND Jackson ;;;;;
April 10th, 2008 at 11:36 amHurrah for vanilla. I add different things if I want to change it, but usually go with the plain old vanilla.
April 10th, 2008 at 6:30 amI think Vanilla Bean is appropriate for March Madness. After all, it is very much a team player and combines with so many other syrups, nuts, fruits, and flavors. Thank you, TURKEY HILL. This was another fun contest.
April 10th, 2008 at 2:50 amNo!!! NOT another poll
April 9th, 2008 at 11:37 pmoh no, the April Ice Cream Poll:

April 9th, 2008 at 8:12 pmcherry,
chocolate, cheescake, or just vanilla, so many choices, all so good
yes, vanilla bean. I voted for it except on days that I voted for chocolate-peanut butter cup. let’s face it sometimes I feel vanillaish and sometimes I need my chocolate-peanut butter.

April 9th, 2008 at 10:05 amTurkey Hill’s best-selling ice cream in 2007 was….drumroll….Vanilla Bean! It was closely followed by Neopolitan and Butter Pecan. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup didn’t show up until tenth place!
April 9th, 2008 at 7:58 amYeah Vanilla Bean! and congrats to CPBC for such a close finish. Either way, how can any of us go wrong with TH ice cream? I have truly enjoyed reading the posts during the competition. I also got some great ideas for flavor combinations. Hmmmm, where to start?? With TH of course.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:03 pm1. Congrat’s to Vanilla for being the top dog!!

Go Vanilla Bean!!! Vanilla is always a good choice.
Although I have many favorite flavors

April 8th, 2008 at 7:18 pmIt is callChocolalte Ice Box Ice cream…You will love it..it is like eating a box of chocolate candy, but this is ice cream. It is so gooood. You take one spoonful and you can’t stop eating it. You will love it.
So close! All you chocolate lovers, get ready for next time and get out the vote!
April 8th, 2008 at 6:28 pmWell, vanilla bean is a very flavorful ice cream as opposed to plain vanilla. We like it, also, but it comes after Party Stix, pretzels and cookies and stuff. And our no. one chocolate peanut butter cup.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:26 pmwonderful I can add my peanut butter cups to this flavor!!!
April 8th, 2008 at 3:53 pmVanilla is the most versatile and is great by itself
April 8th, 2008 at 12:23 pmOnce again, Congrats to Vanilla. I’ll tell you an awesome yogurt…the orange cream and vanilla one. Oh my goodness! The whole family loves it. Amy
April 8th, 2008 at 12:18 pmWay to go, Vanilla Bean! It was a hard fought battle. While I usually stick to my core group of favorite TH flavors, this contest has made me want to try them all!
April 8th, 2008 at 11:11 amWhat flavor is Turkey Hill’s number #1
April 8th, 2008 at 10:29 amseller? I know there are lots and lots of serious Turkey Hill consumers out there that do not have computers, especially senior citizens. Another consideration is the consumer that does not realize this site exists. Is Vanilla Bean the #1 in sales? I think ALL the Turkey Hill flavors are a winner with somebody! Thanks T.H.T.!!!
Congrats to classic Vanilla Bean - You can have it as is or really add whatever toppings tickle your fancy for the day. Yahoo!!
April 8th, 2008 at 10:16 amCongratulations to Vanilla
April 8th, 2008 at 10:04 amCongrats to you Vanilla Bean and to Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup for giving a good run. I had a piece of blueberry pie topped with Vanilla Bean, all I can say is WOW!!! Thanks again Turkey Hill!
April 8th, 2008 at 9:45 amYes, Vanilla Bean is a great flavor but hands down the best Turkey Hill flavor made is TIN ROOF SUNDAE. Don’t ever stop making trs but do me a “favor” and please add more NUTS to the recipe.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:30 amWhen I saw this email in my inbox I jumped to it right away!! Hooray for Vanilla Bean!!! (But I will continue to support the long-shot Baked Apple Dumpling until it gets a shot at joining the race!!)
Yay - Vanilla Bean!
April 8th, 2008 at 9:30 amI wish you had the descriptions of the limited edition flavors on the web site. It was tough to vote when I wasn’t sure what the name was really telling me about the ingredients.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:30 amI eat vanilla literally every night. The other flavors sound fantastic but I was happy to see vanilla take the title.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:29 amWow I thought it was difficult to vote during the sweet sixteen but this was tough as well. I’m sure for all the ice cream lovers I’ll find agreement. I love so many flavors.
April 8th, 2008 at 9:28 amI think your cows are the Winners ,they give the great texture and rich cream to any flavor, but my best pick is vanilla .
April 8th, 2008 at 9:26 amWhat about a sherbet flavor vote? I think Cherry Orchard is the all time best flavor TH ever made. I have not been able to find it at my Giant lately and am having withdrawal symptoms.
April 8th, 2008 at 8:58 amVanilla Bean was the ultimate winner but there was no real loser when you pick the other Turkey Hill flavors. Could another vanilla flavor win next year? Anything is possible!!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:57 amAh - vanilla, It’ so vanilla!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:54 amCan’t wait till next years contest
April 8th, 2008 at 8:40 amI am not a vanilla fan but for your new poll I feel it is not fair to the vannila lovers to have both french and original since it will split their vote and make others look better. I voted for Strawberries & Cream
April 8th, 2008 at 8:34 amCongrats to Vanilla Bean..It was my 2nd choice…Don`t fret, I`m still a good “Chocolate Peanutbutter Cup ” Lover no doubt about it…………
This was fun….
April 8th, 2008 at 8:25 amI love my lemon, I want to see lemon sherbert alone all the time!!!!!
April 8th, 2008 at 8:09 amCongratulations Vanilla Bean! I was rooting for peanut butter, but, I can always add peanut butter sauce to Vanilla Bean.
April 8th, 2008 at 8:06 amWell even though I might have done poorly in the actual bracket, I still picked the ultimate winner! How could you go wrong with a classic like Vanilla?
April 8th, 2008 at 7:45 amWhat a close contest! I voted for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, which I love, but how can anyone be disappointed when all Turkey Hill flavors are winners.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:37 amHow many flavors of ice cream were
April 8th, 2008 at 7:17 aminspired by adding to vanilla bean, so no wonder it won!
Well I was originally voting for vanilla but changed in the end to choc. peanut butter cup. As it goes vanilla can be plain and good if not feeling well. It can also be dressed up with toppings as many as you want . Great topper or add in to pies and fruit desserts or to make an icecream soda. Whatever Turkey Hill always rocks for quality and great taste.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:15 amI wasn’t surprised to see Vanilla Bean win the contest,, but to be honest,,, as far as it winning because “its so versatile”,,,,, I do that with alot of the flavors! If you use your imagination, you can make all sorts of combo’s!
April 8th, 2008 at 7:14 amI don’t find RUM RAISIN listed any where. WHY?? We think it is very good.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:02 ami loooked and loooked,real hard….. and didn’t find any losers - but lots of winners ! !
April 8th, 2008 at 6:45 amCongratulations on your Sweet 16 win, Vanilla Bean, I knew you could do it! You are the best of the best and the most versatile. You go with anything!
April 8th, 2008 at 6:21 amBack to basics! I guess vanilla is still best. You can always dress it up.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:40 amCongrats to Vanilla Bean!!!!
April 8th, 2008 at 5:20 amCan’t wait til next years contest,,Way to go Turkey Hill is the BEST ICE CREAM….
Congrats to Vanilla Bean! What a classic and what a winner. This was the tastiest contest ever. Thank you Turkey Hill! This contest proves everyone is a winner win they eat Turkey Hill because it tastes so good.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:47 amCongratulations to Vanilla Bean! The most versatile flavor. I was cheering for both. So really no loser in this contest. Any way you look at this Turkey Hill has the best ice cream around. Can’s wait until next year’s SWEET 16.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:26 amWell, I can’t say that I’m disappointed, I was cheering for them both. Can’t wait till the next contest.
April 7th, 2008 at 2:22 pmVanilla Bean is a deserving winner. Tastes so good I feel like a sinner. Ontop of hot waffles covered in berries
April 7th, 2008 at 12:52 pmor in a simple cup smothered with cherries. Makes no difference how its eaten, Vanilla Bean can’t be beaten. Thank you Turkey Hill!
You can never go wrong with Vanilla. I think it’s the add ins that are the key. You can add smashed pretzels or put it in coke or rootbeer. You can have it with pie or put caramel on it. So…Vanilla deserves to win.
