DUETTO WINS BEST IN SHOW!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Each year the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) gives out awards to the best promotional efforts by its members. This year’s awards were handed out at the IDFA’s annual SmartMarketing Conference in New Orleans, La.
As members of the IDFA, we entered our promotional campaign for Duetto in the category of “Best Overall Mixed Media Campaign,” which basically includes any marketing campaign that uses multiple methods of promotion or communication. The Duetto campaign definitely fits that description. It used TV ads, billboards, the internet, a public relations campaign, Giant Cow sampling events and much, much more.
After all the competition was scrutinized, analyzed and judged, our Duetto campaign won first place in “Best Overall Mixed Media Campaign” AND it won “Best in Show”! According to our Consumer Marketing Manager, Melissa Mattilio, the Duetto campaign is “one of the most successful new product launches in company history.” That’s says a lot considering we’ve been launching new products for over 75 years.
Needless to say, everyone here at Turkey Hill is extremely happy about the award. It means a lot to us recognized by the IDFA. They’re a big part of the dairy industry, with over 570 members. Below is a picture of the Turkey Hill team with our new award. We’re still trying to figure out where to hang the plaque.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

April 29th, 2008 at 2:25 pmCongratulations to all you fine folks at Turkey Hill. You are so very deserving of the award. I will celebrate with you by walking over to my freezer and helping myself to a bowl of the Mango Duetto right now!!
April 29th, 2008 at 1:01 pmThat’s Awesome!!!!I like the time clock idea as well. It sounds like a fun place to work, who wouldn’t love making people happy. Congratulations. Amy
April 29th, 2008 at 10:55 amHang your plaque above the time clock, and when everyone arrives, they will feel proud of the achievement and work for the next award. When they leave work, they will be tired, but know their day’s work will be recognized by all the Turkey Hill ice cream lovers. Make two copies and hang them in the rest rooms where everyone goes several times a day. This will remind them of the future rewards to come with their efforts.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:32 amCongratulations!! You deserve it Turkey Hill. Duetto is the best. I love all the flavors, BUT, my favorite is mango. Ho my it is heaven. I always brag about Duetto to everyone, its the best, haven’t tried root beer yet, as soon as our store gets it, I will buy it!! Thank you again.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:16 amCongrats to the entire Turkey Hill Team! Duetto is a treat deserving it’s own top prize, and the campaign speaks for the product. Well done!
April 29th, 2008 at 8:41 amThanks everyone! Good work comes easily when you love your job and we definitely love what we do.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:36 amCongratulations! It couldn’t have happened to a better ice cream.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:18 amFor how long a period do you offer your Limited Editions? I live in NEPA and haven’t seen Box of Chocolates yet. Strange, since Gertrude Hawk is made in the next town. I’LL CONSOLE MYSELF WITH CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOW.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:07 amCongrads on the award. The best ads do not sell a product but the best product does and that is where you lead with all your TH products. My hubby reminded me in the 50’s Piel’s beer had the best ads with Harry & Bert. People would call up the TV stations for when they would appear but did it sell Piel’s beer. No since it was one of the worst in a crowded local beer market. Remember that as long as your quality is number one word of mouth will sell more products than the best ads. Ads will let the public know about a new product but its the product that sells itself after the consumer’s first taste.
April 29th, 2008 at 7:51 amCongratulations!
April 29th, 2008 at 7:26 amFantastic!!
April 29th, 2008 at 7:09 amMy favorite is the raspberry/vanilla.
Been waiting for this combo. It’s a great summer treat.

What a wonderful honor and well-deserved. Congrats to all and I’m sure you’ll find a prominent spot for the plaque to be displayed.

April 29th, 2008 at 5:55 amCongrats to all the staff. I love Duettos!
April 29th, 2008 at 5:05 amCongrats on your award; you certainly deserve it!
April 29th, 2008 at 5:01 amCongratulations to all the staffers (Ernie’s Elves). But even the best ad campaign can only get me to try a product once. Fortunately, Duetto flavors are quality products and now I am hooked. But I still haven’t tasted the lemon Duetto. I order from ACME for home delivery, and they don’t list it on their Internet site yet. I’ll be patient.
April 29th, 2008 at 1:14 amThat is too Awesome for words! Congrat’s TH team!! You rock, like I always say!
