WELCOME SUMMER!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Today marks the official start of summer…also known as “ice cream eatin’ season.” Yes, we know ice cream doesn’t need a season and that it tastes good all year round, but you have to admit, there’s something about the summer months that makes ice cream taste just a little bit better.
Feel free to celebrate the approach of warmer weather with a big bowl of your favorite flavor out on the porch. Better yet, pay a visit to your local ice cream shop and have a double dip cone with sprinkles. You deserve two scoops and you definitely deserve sprinkles!

My family and I enjoyed soft Turkey Hill ice cream at Citizens Bank Park (Home of the Philadelphia Phillies) but haven’t been there in years. Does anyone else serve soft Turkey Hill Ice Cream?
July 9th, 2008 at 6:57 pmMy husband and I make special trip to the store wondering what flavor we are going to choose today because all of them are our favorite flavors and we
July 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pmalways have more than 3 flavors in the
refrigerator to enjoy with our friends.
The Graham Slam is absolutely awesome! Everyone at our house loves it and there’s nothing else even close. What a great taste sensation, whoever thought of it is a genious. We’ll enjoy it all summer long.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:05 pmThere is NO Turkey Hill flavor that isn’t scrumptious!
July 7th, 2008 at 5:22 pmjimmies, freddies, stevies whatever I’ll take them!!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:22 amMy 8-year-old son Bennett loves sprinkles, and he isn’t choosey about which flavor he “sprinkles” the sprinkles over, either! Personally, I prefer digging out the peanut butter ball in the chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream (before my hubby beats me to it!) and enjoy that with some of the delicious chocolate ice cream. Yummmmmmm! God Bless!

July 5th, 2008 at 10:26 amTurkey Hill Ice cream is the best!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:24 pmWe call them sprinkles, or shots, never heard of jimmies.
Who doesn’t love “Turkey Hill” ice cream with or without sprinkles in the summer, or, all year long for that matter. Every night, and I do mean every night, my husband has to have a cup of “Turkey Hill” vanilla and chocolate before going to bed. Sometimes during the night he’ll get up and get another one. The calories do not show on him at all so I love the fat free frozen yogurt. It is the best. I sure would like to see an all strawberry carton of fat free frozen yogert. Gotta love it for sure.
July 3rd, 2008 at 1:04 pmIn upstate NY Ive heard both but at home we call them sprinkles
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:11 amThey’re “Jimmies” here in South Jersey as well. And we like the option of choosing between the all chocolate ones or the rainbow ones (rainbow are my favorites – reminds me of my summer days at a local Church carnival – jimmies and ice cream dripping down the cone and down over your hand as well!)
So nice to see summer is back!
July 1st, 2008 at 8:47 pmWe call them “Jimmies” here in Philly, also. When my nephew Jimmy and his sister Julia were small kids and would order a cone, he’d ask for rainbow Jimmies and she wanted rainbow “Julia’s”.
July 1st, 2008 at 11:54 amBowl? We always have fun cones on hand, such as wafer (my favorite), sugar and when I can find them, little tiny wafer kids’ cones for our 2 yr. old’s little hands. We take our Turkey Hill Ice Cream eatin’ time very seriously. We don’t mess around.
July 1st, 2008 at 11:51 amfrom PA , grew up in the Western part an now living in the Northeast. I call them jimmies and my kids do too. But I think my husband from Boston calls them sprinkles
July 1st, 2008 at 9:36 amIn my house we call them rainbow sprinkles. I grew up in Bergen County, NJ. My husband is worse than a kid. He love his sprinkles and won’t eat a cookie, cupcake, and most of all his favorite ice cream,Turkey Hill, without them on. His eyes widen when he sees his dish or cone approaching with his T.H. icecream covered with a “rainbow”.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:58 pmYeah, summer and ice cream…brings me back to the days when my parents loaded all of us in the station wagon and drove to the ice cream parlor. What I was thinking then was a hurrah ice cream! But now I have come to treasure those moments. How much fun we had, how we laughed and enjoyed the time together. I have since created those wonderful memories with my own children and can’t wait til the day I can share them with my grandchildren. For me

June 23rd, 2008 at 11:08 amI’m from NY and sprikles are what we’ve always called them. When I first heard of jimmies I didn’t have any clue what they were talking about. Now either will do. My kids can eat sprinkles without ice cream but not me. I’m all for Turkey Hill with or without the toppings.

June 22nd, 2008 at 8:47 amAround the Washington DC area they are called sprinkles. It would be interesting to know where and how the word “jimmies” began. The debate may go on forever but I’ll just go to the freezer and have some Turkey Hill with sprinkles on top.
June 22nd, 2008 at 6:05 amBetty Crocker calls them Decorating Decors. Got an open bottle in my cupboard waiting to sprinkle my evening treat of TH peanut butter ripple. Can’t wait.

June 21st, 2008 at 8:21 pmI don’t think I heard them called “jimmies” until I moved north of the Mason-Dixon line. In California, Louisiana, Florida, and West Virginia, I never got funny looks for calling them “sprinkles.”
I’m glad it’s now “official” to eat ice cream! But as far as I’m concerned, eatin’ ice cream is a year-round season!
Here’s a scoop of Cookies and Cream to toast — cheers!
June 21st, 2008 at 2:44 pmI grew up in the Lake George area of New York State. We always called them sprinkles;both the chocolate and colorful toppings. I love them on my TH ice cream, whatever flavor I happen to be eating at the time! Enjoy your summer, and your TH ice cream!

June 21st, 2008 at 12:53 pmI know I didn’t have the sprinkles for the ice cream, but I certainly enjoyed a big dish of Cherry Ice Cream, and the cherries were to die for. Thanks for being so good!!!!!
June 21st, 2008 at 10:20 amI started life in Brooklyn, New York, and live on Long Island now, we call them rainbow sprinkles and chocolate sprinkles and I prefer the chocolate ones. As a matter of fact, I prefer chocolate anything! And I’ll take some Turkey Hill ice cream under it!

June 21st, 2008 at 8:58 amI grew up in central Ohio and there they were called “jimmies.” My first thought when I hear the word “sprinkles” is the episode of THE OFFICE where Dwight killed Angela’s sick cat.
June 21st, 2008 at 7:55 amI’m also from Long Island NY, Bay shore and we call them sprinkles. Being of British Descent jimmies are something guys wear (if ya know what I mean)! I prefer choc ones but nowadays give me choc cookie crunch on choc peanut butter (yeah I’m an avowed chocoholic), and I’m allover it. I really like the Philly style the best!!
June 21st, 2008 at 7:42 amI don’t know if you guys push for these or what,, but our local grocery store RARELY ever has Demonstrators. Yesterday (1st day of Summer), they had a lady giving out samples of TH ice cream! You can believe she was a very popular lady! Even the employees were stopping buy for their little taste of Heaven! No sprinkles but it didn’t matter.

June 20th, 2008 at 9:00 pmI always called them Jimmies. Then had to revert to sprinkles because people never knew what I was talking about, lol! Sprinkles rule though.
I just had this conversation with the people I work with at my hospital, toppings are a necessity in my world. You’d laugh if you saw what I did with my TH Vanilla bean the other day. I had a cone and filled it with half ice cream, put in a layer of Apple Jacks cereal as a change, then a layer of ice cream, layer of chocolate syrup, ice cream, then some peanuts. It sure was one little adventure in that cone! But It was good!
Feel free to laugh.
June 20th, 2008 at 8:59 pmI am from New york we here call them sprinkles~
June 20th, 2008 at 6:43 pmHelp us decide a debate that has been raging at the office! What do you call the brightly colored ice cream topping sprinkles or jimmies? Let us know your opinion, and possibly where you are from, because we think that where you grow up has something to do with it.
