FEATURED PET: CAPPUCCINO THE YORKIE
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Who doesn’t love Party Cake ice cream? Cappuccino the Yorkie sure does! Thanks to Patrizia P. from Ossining, NY for sending us this priceless pic.
NOTE: Because some dogs and other pets are prone to lactose intolerance, care should be taken when feeding your pet ice cream. Like most “people food” treats, moderation is the key. Talk to your veterinarian if you have questions about your pet’s ability to eat ice cream.
Our poll for July is also up-and-running (on the right). We know it’s not the most fun question we’ve ever asked, but your honest feedback will be valuable to us. The question is about a “widget,” which is a piece of software you can download from our website (it’s very simple to install). It would create a tool on your computer desktop that would display information like new recipes, new flavors or other Turkey Hill news.
We haven’t figured out the specific details of what the widget would do, but we’d like to know if you’d be willing to use it and what you’d like the widget to communicate to you. We can design it to deliver just about any type of information. Let us know your thoughts with a comment!
In other news, we’ve got some fun things planned throughout July here on the Ice Cream Journal. Feel free to visit us daily or enter your email address on the upper right to have new blog entries sent directly to your in-box. Thanks, and let the countdown to National Ice Cream Month begin!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

I would definitely make use of widget! It would be perfect for advertising and letting me know about new flavors or recipes that include Turkey Hill ice cream, or good ice cream combos with other foods. Even daily facts about ice cream, or letting us know what local grocery stores or chain grocery stores have turkey hill products on sale. Also maybe a designated “flavor of the week” or monthly give aways would be cool too.
July 20th, 2008 at 2:18 pmHow cute!
July 19th, 2008 at 11:11 pmThe pup has a great stylist!
And the ice cream can’t be beat after a long day at the salon!
*Now* I have a problem: A craving for Party Cake, but none left in the house, and at this late hour!
(I do hope it’s a year-round flavor, and not just a summer fl^H^Hthing — otherwise I won’t be able to properly celebrate my December birthday!)
(And while we’re at it, ditto for *pink* peppermint — why do folks think of it being for the winter holiday-time only?) (And don’t tell me “candy canes”!)
Uh-oh… now it’s a double-trouble problem — you guessed it — a craving for *both* Party Cake *AND* Pink Peppermint!
…Though the image has given me an idea for my next afghan design; now I just have to figure out how to get Turkey Hill to hire me as their official knitwear designer; I bet that poor cow doesn’t have even a single scarf to keep her neck warm in the winter!
What color do *you* think she’d like to wear?
Staving off the dual craving until the morning (what’s better than ice cream for breakfast, anyway?),
— Renee, wishing a very merry
Ice Cream Month to all,
and to all a good night
(Widget-comments next time; right now, the knitwear-designer/ice-cream-craver in me is designing the stitch for the cow’s first scarf… also known as the answer to the question, “How does a knitter eat her ice cream cone?” “Lick one, swirl two; lick one, swirl two…”)
July 16th, 2008 at 11:46 pmJunior mint ice cream….where can I get me some!!!
July 15th, 2008 at 12:18 amYour Rum Raisin first caught my eye this spring. We used to have a hard time finding it only at specialty store. Now we can enjoy it all time and we now have been trying all your flavors. We really love your ice cream. Good Job!
July 13th, 2008 at 6:32 pmI love Turkey Hill ice cream so much that sometimes I lick it from the bowl like the cute little puppy.
July 12th, 2008 at 7:55 pmIf you want a swell treat, this is it:
July 12th, 2008 at 1:33 pmA yummy ice cream and syrup BANANA SPLIT!
My two cockaliers Bella and Carmela always wait patiently for a taste of the Turkey Hill ice cream anyone eats and they are so adorable you just have to share
July 11th, 2008 at 12:27 pmReading about Turkey Hill brings back childhood memories of how much our cat, Noel, loved to lick the ice cream bowl! Also, the Kutztown Folk Festival was a great day around Fourth of July…
July 5th, 2008 at 8:40 amMy daughters are looking forward to traveling to Lancaster Co. next week to view and taste the wholesome country offerings.

July 3rd, 2008 at 6:32 amMy dogs always get to lick the carton when we’re done, but this is one lucky pooch to get a bowl of his own!
July 2nd, 2008 at 10:34 pmLove the cute pup. Love the TH even
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:06 pmmore!! The only thing better than
buying TH ice cream at my favorite
store is when it is Buy 1 Get 1 Free
week for TH. I really eat up then!
Thanks TH for keeping connected to and supportive of the community. I also appreciate that you guys haven’t shrunk your cartons like some others. I think a neat new flavor would be butterscotch.
July 1st, 2008 at 11:36 pmThe dog is adorable but my pick is the ice cream. Could the dog and cow be friends, playing in the field with thoughts of ice cream shown above their heads?
July 1st, 2008 at 11:24 pmThe dog is adorable but my eyes were drawn to the ice cream. Who could possibly share such a treat? Not me.
July 1st, 2008 at 11:20 pmFor me, there is nothing like the taste of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream! Mmmm. It’s very simple and oh so smooth on the palete. throw on some chocolate syrup and some peanuts and it just hits the spot!
July 1st, 2008 at 9:22 pmI tried the chocolate peanut butter ice cream and found it too sweet, so I mix it up with vanilla ice cream and find it is a better flavor for my tastes.
July 1st, 2008 at 8:36 pmI’d use the widget if it was an easy download that didn’t take up to much space!
July 1st, 2008 at 8:35 pmCute dog! Looks like he enjoys TH ice cream as much as I do.
July 1st, 2008 at 5:18 pmI just celebrated Ice cream month with a double scoop cone of Chocolate Cherry Cordial…yuuuuuuuuuuuuum!

July 1st, 2008 at 2:20 pmMy hubby sits with our 2 dogs and they have an ice cream party. Shep & Cody know when he is eating ice cream and they beg until he shares. Our favorite is the root beer duets. Love your ice cream, its the best.

July 1st, 2008 at 11:09 amWe have two dalmations, the oldest knows its her job to lick the empty container and lid. If you don’t give her both she whines till she gets it. Turkey Hill is my all the favorite brand.
July 1st, 2008 at 10:44 amI enjoyed seeing the party yorkie, but I was under the impression that ice creme is bad for dogs?
July 1st, 2008 at 10:02 amYorkie is sure enjoying his Turkey Hill ice cream.
July 1st, 2008 at 9:54 amMy very, very favorite ice cream is:
July 1st, 2008 at 9:34 amTurkey Hill Butter Pecan. It is so fine. It is hard to even try a new flavor since I know it can’t possibly be as good as Butter Pecan–all those big pecan pieces–only in Turkey Hill!!
Party Cake Ice Cream is the best for ice cream for Cake & Ice Cream Birthday celebrations!!

July 1st, 2008 at 9:01 ami thought sugar and sweets weren’t good for dogs. doesn’t it give them worms?
but then, how would it look if a person licked the ice cream out of the bowl?
actually, it would be pretty funny!
July 1st, 2008 at 8:58 amThat Yorkie is just adorable and definitly has good taste!
July 1st, 2008 at 8:22 amI have never heard of a widget before but after reading other people’s comments, it sounds like a good idea and a quick way to get recipes, coupons and news from Turkey Hill.
I’m not sure about the widget. If it can be utilized by those who only use the computer for emails and to order online, count me in. You can’t teach a 70 year old too many new tricks.
July 1st, 2008 at 8:10 amWidgets are great, we will know all the promotions you are offering and never miss out on any specials or tasting events….great idea
July 1st, 2008 at 7:59 amI think Id Like the widget to tell me news abotu contests and promotions - freebies and events…. I guess like an instant calendar….. Hey, the sooner I know if an event, the sooner I can make plans to get there!

June 30th, 2008 at 9:41 pmOMG! What an adorable picture! That dog has great taste when it comes to icecream. One of my 2 boys favorite flavor next to chocolate chip cookie dough! I break the rules when it comes to parenting. They have icecream before their meal!!!!!!

June 30th, 2008 at 7:07 pmJuly is the perfect month for ice cream - especially if it’s Turkey Hill.
June 30th, 2008 at 7:05 pmTurkey Hill is the best ice cream around! I like the widget idea but I do not like to download stuff too much. The website is great…more flavors please!
June 30th, 2008 at 7:05 pmLove your ice cream!! :
June 30th, 2008 at 7:03 pmThat dog is adorable, and obviously well cared for. I would much rather have the dog then a widget! I am way too computer challenged to be adding anything.
June 30th, 2008 at 7:02 pmI wouldn’t use a widget because I don’t like to clutter up my computer with stuff like that. However, as a suggestion for content, coupon links/alerts would be nice. I love the cute Yorkie picture! Great dog name too!
June 30th, 2008 at 6:54 pmI’ll try to snap a photo of my service dog getting TH from the grocery freezer and send it on to you. She is a good dog and gives it to me to purchase and waits very patiently for a little dish of TH after dinner. She loves the fruit flavors

June 30th, 2008 at 6:21 pmLove the website and the ice cream! Yes a widget would be nice, easy etc. Would love to have some fun recipes for my grandkids to “sample”!
June 30th, 2008 at 6:17 pmI Love Turkey Hill ice cream, but most of all I love the coupons we recieved with our calender from Turkey Hill. With the new widget comming soon Im hopeful there will be coupons to download and use at oue local grocery store. Thanks Turkey Hill.
June 30th, 2008 at 6:11 pmOK first great pic! Neat eating dog!
June 30th, 2008 at 6:05 pmI’m holding out hope hoping that the milk increase which is scheduled to go up tonight at midnight is not as high as they say it will be. I miss the half gallon, 1.75 was fine, 1.5 for Philly is OK too as long as it stays affordable. I have bought only TH even when Breyers is on sale but I supplement my “quick fix” with HD pints (Hint how about ‘Philly style’ pints?) Will this increase in milk affect TH development of new flavours, and the sizes again? Well as we ponder the price and future endevours I’ll raise my Dbl scoop of Philly style choc on a choc wafer cone rolled in Oreo crumbs (used for pie crusts in a box) (No there is no such thing as too much chocolate to a chocoholic!!)
THE BEST THERE IS. HAVE TO HAVE LIGHT OR NO FAT AND IT CANNOT BE BEAT!!!!!
June 30th, 2008 at 6:02 pmTHE PUPPY KNOWS THAT TOO…..
That dog sure loves Turkey Hill!

My wife & I have tried quite a few of different names of ice cream & “Turkey Hill” is by far the best !!

June 30th, 2008 at 5:15 pmWe are an Ice-Cream-Lovin’-Family. It’s a family affair on the weekends. All flavors are welcome in my house! Whip cream and sprinkles and chocolate syrup only add to the flavor.
June 30th, 2008 at 5:05 pmTurkey Hill has the best selection of ice cream flavors. It’s so hard to pick a favorite. Party Cake is probably my family’s favorite - it truly is like birthday cake without the cake. Excellent!!!

June 30th, 2008 at 4:51 pmBella, my Jack Russell puppy, loves Turkey Hill vanilla - she’s all white w/brown ears and it gets all over her whiskers when she eats it from her bowl. She licks her whiskers clean cuz it’s sooooooo good!!!

June 30th, 2008 at 4:29 pmTurkey Hill is the best ice cream. You have so many flavors. It’s hard to pick a favorite one. I love them all.I’m a big ice cream fan!

June 30th, 2008 at 3:38 pmWe love turkey hill ice cream. It is the only ice cream we buy. The only think is that we have a big family that includes 5 kids so when it comes to making a choice of what kind we are going to get is not easy so we end up getting like 3 different flavors to make everyone satisfied.
June 30th, 2008 at 3:33 pmMy children have moved back in and we all love your ice cream. The problem is we all like different flavors. Thank heavens I have two freezers!
June 30th, 2008 at 3:24 pmWe love icecream!!! With 4 kids it is hard for them all to agree on what flavor. Cookie dough is an easy pick most of the time though!!!
June 30th, 2008 at 3:20 pmThat puppy is almost too cute to be real.It looks like he enjoys his ice cream almost as much as my kids so, but they make more of a mess!
June 30th, 2008 at 3:17 pmYummy, in my tummy!! Those words are what describe Turkey Hill to me! The variety is unending and so happy to see the Junior Mint flavor is going to come back to us. Fantastic job in delighting us all!
June 30th, 2008 at 3:09 pmI suddenly have a craving for Turkey Hill Party Cake Ice Cream, thanks to Cappucino! My dog Kobe and I are hopping in the car now to buy some!
June 30th, 2008 at 3:05 pmI simply enjoy Turkey Hill ice cream. It creamy, love most of the flavors. the only suggestion I might have for you is, make a carmel favor ice cream with carmel and marshmellow running through it…..
June 30th, 2008 at 3:04 pmHahaha My max just had some columbian coffee by Turkey Hill this week. He absolutely LOVES it. We limit his caffine consumption though.
As for my husband, he’d been eating mint chocolate chip as he sits out back watching the ducks and birds fly by. Simply Summer!
My favorite is snuggling up to an old movie with my banana split from Turkey Hill.
It’s THE ONLY brand we buy.
June 30th, 2008 at 3:01 pmTurkey Hilll is always good - all ways!
I really enjoyed browsing the site - especially reading about how it all began & seeing the vintage photos. Thanks for making the site so interesting.
June 30th, 2008 at 2:39 pmI just picked up Party Cake ice cream today. I guess that makes me a Yorkie. I used to think of myself as a New Yorker, but now we know!
Party Cake is an awesome flavor too, not too sweet just sweet enough!
June 30th, 2008 at 2:22 pmThe dog is luckier than me. We don’t have Turkey Hill Ice Cream in the San Francisco Bay Area….
June 30th, 2008 at 2:20 pmWe love Turkey Hill ice cream and I don’t think we would be able to get thru the summer without it!
June 30th, 2008 at 2:16 pmThis is one smart Doggie.
June 30th, 2008 at 2:16 pmGREAT ICE CREAM PRODUCTS-Doing the weight watcher’s Program-and Always save points for the DUETTO.Love It

June 30th, 2008 at 2:13 pmThe Yorkie is so cute we have doxies and they love Turkey Hill ice cream. The only ones they are like is what ever Mommy is eating, they do not get chocolate as unsure of it. Although our other doxie ate a whole bag of the chocolate chips semi sweet for cooking after getting sick he was fine lived a long full life. I still limite on what Sassy and Joey eat or I let them have. My husband and I as well love the Turkey Hill brand and love the specials such as Coconut cream pie. Is there a particular store that carries a lot of your products vs Food Lion in Hampton Roads, VA area??
June 30th, 2008 at 2:10 pmI have a bad leg but I would hobble a mile with a big spoon to dig into the sundae. WOW
thanks janice
June 30th, 2008 at 2:08 pmthat is a cute humorous pic wit the dog. i haven’t had turkey hill ice cream in a couple of days so i think i will get some party cake ice cream today. its funny though when i’m not eating the ice cream i am drinking the tea, gotta love turkey hill!!
June 30th, 2008 at 2:08 pmMy husband and I really enjoy Turkey Hill Ice Cream. But, I have to say, that if we were to win ice cream for a year, I would want to know how we could send it overseas to all the men and women serving this country to protect our freedoms to enjoy such a tasteful treat. Our every day indulgence would be such a luxury for them!! Especially in 100+ degree temperatures!! Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!!
June 30th, 2008 at 2:05 pmAdorable puppy. My Scottie Dog - Heather-Bump also loves Turkey Hill Ice cream. Sadly, she is very ill and will be leaving us soon - but you can bet she’ll get her little bowl of Turkey Hill every evening until that time comes.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:48 pmThe first time I tasted your delious ice cream was at the Race For The Cure in Pittsburgh. After a long 5 K walk, it sure hit the spot!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:47 pmLove the dog! Our dogs love ice cream too! As far as the widget, I’m very careful about what I download. I don’t think a widget is necessary for this website.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:45 pmWow–great ice cream AND an interesting blog…lol. Love the Yorkie pic. Our chocolate lab, Willow, adores your product as well, especially Party Cake! Maybe it’s a dog thing…(Ok, I’ll admit it…it’s my favorite too!!) As for the widget…I think it’s a grand idea, as long as there is a way to control when it’s on and communicating. I do a lot of downloading/blogging/etc., and I’d like to think I could minimize the load on my huffing little old computer whenever possible.
Thanks for always giving me something to smile about–a great treat in my freezer!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:42 pmI just love Turkey Hill icecream, if I could buy all the flavors at the same time I would have a ice cream feast.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:41 pmI just Love Turkey Hill ice cream. Everynight after everyone goes to bed I go and fill up my mug with chocolate ice cream and relax with a book. It is a nice way to end the day.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:32 pmYour Turkey Hill guy gave out samples of Duet-raspberry and vanilla. I loved it and buy it whenever I can. Anything with chocolate or coffee I like. My granddog also likes Turkey Hill–all flavors. She’ll patiently wait until one says “Take.”
June 30th, 2008 at 1:25 pmWelcome to all of our new readers! We’re happy to have you in our growing Ice Cream Journal community and hope to see you more often in the future.
Thanks to everyone who have weighed in so far with their feedback about our upcoming widget. Your input is so valuable to us!
We like Nancy’s idea of dry fruit in ice cream and Elizabeth’s suggestion of an ice tea flavored ice cream! We’ll pass both suggestions along to our flavor development team.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:25 pmWay to go - ice cream for a year - guess my diet will wait until 2010 - yum, yum.

June 30th, 2008 at 1:22 pmThe other day we went out to get ice cream at a local store.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:21 pmWe thought we would enjoy a double dip each.
Lo and behold the prices jumped sky high! We did not get our double dip!
We came home and I quickly got out my Turkey Hill Ice Cream coupons recently sent to us and said to my husband, let’s go get some of our favorite Turkey hill Ice cream Flavors at the local store near us,and we can have More of Turkey Hill Icecream made affordable with the help of our Turkey Hill coupons,so kindly sent from Turkey Hill.
We had such a good time eating our icecream along with our dog Chang a pug/pom mix and it surely was double dipped and made affortable!
Thanks Again to Turkey hill!
Fay and Ben Harple And Chang
Turkey hill has many interesting flavors, but with cappachino it is coffee ice w/ choco. Why not vanilla ice cream w/ real coffee. Also how about ice cream with dry fruit?
June 30th, 2008 at 1:20 pmI like the idea of having the ability to access information such as new flavors, news and especially recipes, with one simple click via the widget. I am a very busy working mom who is always looking for new and fun ideas for the family and the time saver would be great! I would, however, like to continue receiving the newsletter after the widget is implemented. I look forward to receiving it ;). One last comment - Three cheers for the Junior Mint Icecream!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:18 pmI was looking through the Turkey Hill website and was wondering - it there a iced tea flavor of ice cream (they make coffee) but I think iced tea or peach iced tea would make a great refreshing flavor.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:18 pmParty Cake is a family favorite in our house. We dance (to burn calories so we can eat more) before we dive in!
That’s the most patient, neatest-eating pup I’ve ever seen when it comes to ice cream!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:16 pmI’m hooked on your Jets Blitz and can’t wait for the new season to begin so I can get some again.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:15 pmHappy Ice Cream Month (a.k.a. July)! A big thank you goes out to Turkey Hill on behalf of me and my entire family. I’m due to graduate from nursing school in the beginning of August and couldn’t have gotten through it without your delicious ice cream! Many long, arduous nights spent cramming were made bearable because of the sweet companionship of Turkey Hill’s frozen desserts. I feel as though your dairy is just as deserving of an RN licensure as me! Thanks and keep up the great work!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:12 pmBe careful not to give dogs any ice cream with chocolate in it, as chocolate is very toxic for pooches.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:12 pmthis photo captures the essence of seeing man’s “best friend”celebrating life and especially with turkey hill ice cream; we have jack, a scottie and ben, a westie and we share turkey hill with them. Here’s to life, celebrations, friendship and ice cream!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:07 pmMy yorkie, Ruby, also loves Turkey Hill Vanilla Ice Cream! She patiently waits til I am almost finished then is right there waiting for her fair share! I would love your computer “widget” to give the current and newest ice cream flavors available monthly and also recipes would be great!
June 30th, 2008 at 12:57 pmI have two Yorkies. And they both love Turkey Hill ice cream. Not sure what their favorite flavor is, but mine is Tin Roof Sundae!
June 30th, 2008 at 12:56 pmCute puppy!! Yummy ice cream!!!
June 30th, 2008 at 12:42 pmA widget would be great!
