Nothing beats a home made ice cream sundae, does it?
As Turkey Hill expands into new states to the west and south, we find ourselves being invited to show off our goods on morning TV news shows. This Sunday, a member of the Turkey Hill team will be in Detroit for a morning segment on the local FOX affiliate. He’ll be leading a demonstration on the air about fun ice cream sundae recipes…made with Turkey Hill ice cream, of course.
Below are some of the recipes he’ll be using during the four minute demonstration. The last one (the Motor City Sundae) is one we made up just for this appearance. If anyone makes any of these recipes at home, let us know how they turn out!
PEACHES AND CREAM SUNDAE
INGREDIENTS:
Turkey Hill Vanilla Ice Cream
4 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 passion fruit (cut in half crosswise)
1 cup raspberries
DIRECTIONS:
Combine peaches, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium bowl; toss gently. Cut passion fruit in half crosswise, squeeze juice over peach mixture and fold in raspberries. To serve, spoon ice cream into sundae cups and top with fruit mixture.
TURKEY HILL TWINKIE SPLIT
INGREDIENTS:
Turkey Hill Ice Cream (two different flavors)
1 box Twinkies
Whipped cream
1 jar maple walnut sundae topping
Chocolate syrup
Chopped walnuts
Cherry
DIRECTIONS:
Split Twinkie in half lengthwise and lay it on a dessert plate. Add two scoops of Turkey Hill Ice Cream (your choice of flavors) on top of split Twinkie, then top with whipped cream on each mound. To top off the sundae, drizzle chocolate syrup and maple walnut sundae topping, sprinkle with chopped walnuts and top with a cherry.
MOTOR CITY SUNDAE
INGREDIENTS:
Turkey Hill Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream
Chocolate covered pretzel wheels (pre-made)
Graham crackers (the “chassis”)
Chocolate syrup (“motor oil”)
Chopped nuts and chocolate chips (“nuts and bolts”)
Whipped cream
Cherry
DIRECTIONS:
To make the chocolate pretzel wheels, melt chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Dip the pretzel wheels in chocolate and lay on waxed paper. Chill or freeze until set.
To make the sundae, place four small scoops of chocolate ice cream on a dessert plate and press one pretzel wheel into the side of each scoop. Place the graham cracker on top, with the ice cream scoops simulating wheels. Place one large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the graham cracker. Top with chocolate syrup, chopped nuts and chocolate chips. Add whip cream and a cherry if desired.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
Oh YUMMY! Thanks for the recipes. Maybe I’ll have an Ice Cream social here at the house for friends and family. What a neat idea for summer!
Detroit is in for a treat!
Too much guilt for me to eat all of this. But I can imagine the yum…
I can’t wait…I am definately going to try that Twinkie sundae tonight!
That is awesome. Having a ice creamsocial isalways part of the beginning of our school year. You can have a party with kids just around the themeof ice cream. They can makeit, eat it andtop it with all sorts of wonderful gooodies!
Mmm…all of these recipes look great, I am going to try the Motor City sundae recipe and let you know how it turned out……..thanks for the great recipes..and as a bonus Turkey Hill Ice Cream is on sale at Giant Eagle this week….
These look delicous. Perfect for all my racing friends.
I was wondering about your plans to expand after seeing all your ads on TV for the Iced Tea and Ice cream. Florida would be perfect so the “Snow Birds” can have their TH all year round.
The Twinkie sundae sounds delicious. I am heading to the store to get everything I need to make it. Turkey Hill Ice Cream happens to be on sale this week at our local TOPS Market. Maybe it will be my lunch(have to indulge once in awhile).
I love Turkey Hill Ice Cream no mater how it is served!!!!!!!
The sundaes sound delicious. We come from a family of ice cream lovers. At our recent family reunion, while serving ice cream with the dessert, a family member commented: “Have you ever seen anyone in this family refuse ice cream!” It’s our bedtime snack!!
Peaches and cream sounds absolutely delightful.
It’s 10 AM and now I want ice cream
The twinkie sundae sounds like one my family would love. I’ll have to think about it.
After reading the twinkie sundae I knew that would be the one for me but then I read the motor city and now I can’t decide. They both sound delicious.
I wish we had access to the TV show I’d love to wash the demo.
That Motor City Sundae sounds great…wish we could watch the program!
Those recipes are fantastic. I am so glad Turkey Hill keeps expanding. The more you expand the better my chances that I will find you wherever I go!
All the sundaes sound delicious but the first one I’ll try is the Twinkie Sundae….sounds so good! As was stated earlier, Turkey Hill is on sale at Tops and I also had a coupon for it.
Doesn’t get better than that!
The peaches and cream sundae sounds great to me. However, I don’t think I’ve ever seen passion fruit at my grocery store. Is there a substitution?
I think the Motor City Sundae sounds awesome! We will definately try it on our sundae night.
All sound wonderful, but will definitely try the Motor City Sundae. Now come to North Carolina and create a sundae for the Tar Heels.
All of them sound delicious. Hard to decide which one first.
I LOVE sundaes. They all sound delicious. I will definitely try the Twinkie first. I wanted to share my mouth watering experience this week. I finally was able to purchase the Junior Mint flavor. WOW! It was GREAT. HMM maybe on top of the Twinkie Sundae?
Loved the recipe with the twinkies. It just so happens to be birthday weekend coming up so maybe we’ll have to try that one!
There are certainly many ways to spruce up ice cream and call it a sundae. There must be enough Turkey Hill flavors combined with numerous fruits, syrups, nuts, sprinkles, etc. to make up a sizeable ice cream sundae recipe book.
If you need a taste tester just let me know. They sound delicious!
As if I need another excuse to put ice cream in front of me….
They do sound yummy. Twinkies, hmmm.
OMG! I’m going to have to try to make the Twinkie Split today! Yumm-o!
Sundaes are always a big hit for dessert! I love trying to decide what to put on them–can I have more than one. The Motor City one sounds cute and yummy!
For the diverse population of Seniors,
Chubbies, and Over-Indulgers, place two
scoops of TURKEY HILL FROZEN YOGURT IN A DISH WITH SLICED BANANAS and feast
calorically lower and boosting your
electrolytes after a day of heat surge!
I’m having my Mom’s birthday party at my house mid-August. Her favorite fruit is peaches. Peaches and Cream Sundae solves my problem of what to have for dessert. Thanks Turkey Hill!
My vote’s for the Motor City Sundae — you can never have too much chocolate! Thanks for sharing these great recipes!
Peaches and Cream sounds divine!!! I think I will be trying that one real soon!!
The peaches and cream sundae sounds like just the thing on a summer day. How devine!
my daughter kennedy had a icecream fund raiser to help children with special hearts, kennedy & her friends served Turkey hill brand flavors for their customers delight, their choice of cone or dish, rocky road, vanilla bean, chocolate, mint chocolate chip & strawberry for a generous donation!!! it was a win win day for all!!!MmmmmMMMMMM good!!!!!
sunday morning breakfast, Ice cream on waffels Beats going to Ihop Cause seconds dosen’t cost any more. Banana Split from turkey hill. life is good.
these are some very creative ideas! Me, I like strawberries on TH Vanilla!
The Peaches and vanilla ice cream sundae will be served to my guests tonight. Since I do not have any “passion fruit” in the house I’ll substitute bananas instead. A nice cool yummy dessert on a hot July night.
They sound icecreamelious!
Hmmm Twinkies and Ice cream. Sweet overload. The Detroit looks good. Last night I gave the family TH Duetto (Mango) in a oreo cookie crust topped by Crushed Nilla wafers and whipped cream. The asked me what it was called I told them it was an italian duet ice cream pie NY style. I didn’t have any cause I’m a chocoholic. I did taste the mango it was very good. I just don’t like vanilla plain, bean, French or otherwise.
I promise to try all the sundaes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I wonder which wil be my favorite?
they all sound good
What great recipes. Perfect for this hot weather.
all those ideas are great, my husband likes to put a piece of pound cake in a bown, than turkey hill ice cream, bananas and whipped cream.
My husband is from an area in Michigan very close to Detroit. Almost his entire family lives in Michigan. He LOVES his home state with a passion, and would one day like to retire there. (UGH!!! No thank-you.) I will try all these recipes out on my husband. My guess is the one with the Twinkies will be his favorite. I know he will be thrilled to know Turkey Hill is reaching out to his home state. Though I see it as a potential problem for me as I have said I could not possibly live in a state where there is no Turkey Hill!!!
I have to say that if I were voted for the best of these sundaes, my first choice is the peaches n cream, but the other 2 are very close seconds and maybe they will be the seconds I have after having the peaches n cream sundae.
HOLY COW, GLAD TO GET NEW ICE CREAM RECIPES, SUPER ,CAN NOT WAIT TO TRY THEM.SPECIALY WITH THE WONDERFUL TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM,CRAM OF THE CROP BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD
brownie in a bowl, topped with mint cookies and cream chocolate syrup and a girl scout thin mint stuck in the top with a small dollop of whipped cream! yeah, baby!
Ice cream with anything tastes great!!! Thanks for the ideas!!!
My favorite recipe is any flavor icecream topped with Cherrios or Rice Crispies. The best topping was Post Alphabets til they discontinued them.
We love anything that has peaches in it. We also like homemade peach ice cream, so when we can not make any peaches and cream sundays will hit the spot. Thanks for the ideas on new recipes.
My favorite is still a scoop of TH mint chocolate chip ice cream on a big brownie square, topped with hot fudge sauce.
I was always worried that making recipes that involved ice cream would only lead to the ice cream melting and making a mess of the dessert and making it look entirely un-appetizing…but I did try the “Motor-City Sundae” recipe and my guests gobbled it up soooo fast because it was delicious that it didn’t even have time to melt at all. It was a success!
These sundaes sound so good! I wish you could bring the great taste of Turkey Hill (and these sundaes) to Las Vegas.
I am going to try all those sundaes they sound sooooo good!!!!!!
I wish you would bring back the Turkey Hill plastic containers that we used to get ice cream in. I have been using mine over and over again. Currently I make homemade applesauce and these containers work great. Thanks T.H. for great ice cream.
We love Turkey Hill!
I live in the northeast, so I doubt I’ll be able to get that show. I will try though. That peach sundae sounds delious. Our peaches are just coming in here, so I’ll definitely try it. Peg
I will definately try your recipes. Thank you so much. Twinkies are my favorite since I was a little girl. I haven’t had one in a long time, so here’s my excuse to buy them. My grandkids will enjoy this also. Thank you again!
Those sound really good, especially the twinkie one. I’m going to try and make a tiramisu one this summer. My husband I both love eating tiramisu, but it can be a bit time consuming to put it all together. Maybe the ice cream version will be easier and last a bit longer!
Am I the only one who doesn’t know what a tiramisu is?
I don’t really have time to make sundaes. I’m too busy eating my Turkey Hill from the carton!
I hope everyone like my husband and myself have enjoyed ice cream every day in National Ice Cream month. Must go and get today’s serving. Will enjoy making the sundaes.
Good grief! Is 10:47 AM too early to have a sundae?!? My coffee just isn’t cutting it, and after ready those yummy sundae ideas, that’s all I can think about!
A major improvement to your Detroit Peach Sundae idea: Instead of TH Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (which I love), substitute TH Peach Ice Cream (which I love even more).r
Think I’m behind on this, but keep Turkey Hill creating. I love it.
Loretta
The PEACHES AND CREAM SUNDAE looks really good!
Thank-you. Sounds delicious will have to try them sometime soon.Yummmy!!
we have been making something like the Motor City but with TH peanut buter ripple. My wife calls it “the perfect bite”
Thanks for bringing Turkey Hill to the Motor City! Ice cream! Ice cream!
