Like we said last week, lately some members of the Turkey Hill team have been travelling to various cities to talk about Turkey Hill on local TV news shows. The theme for most of those appearances is “cooking with ice cream” and what we usually make is our famously simple Duetto Lemon Pie. Of course, as you’ll see from the recipe below, it’s not really “cooking” but that doesn’t mean it’s not delicious. Has anyone used ice cream as a cooking ingredient, even if it’s something simple like this?
INGREDIENTS:
Turkey Hill Lemon Duetto
8 oz container cool whip
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 lemon
1 Graham cracker pie crust
DIRECTIONS: Scoop Lemon Duetto ice cream into piecrust. Fill 3/4 to top. In a bowl mix cool whip with lemon juice. Cover Lemon Duetto with cool whip mixture. Cut lemon slices to garnish top. Serves eight.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
Turkey hill ice cream is the only kind of ice Cream I use. The sherbets and yogarts, are the best. I love vanilla bean when I am making sundaes. I love the orange and rainbow sherbets. My favorite ice creams are Rocky Road Butter Pecan and Chocolate Marshnallow. The other ice creams like Bryers taste like powder.Keep on doing what you are doing.
Yes, I did. I made brownies in two pie pans and baked. When cool I topped the brownie crusts with mint chip ice cream to the top of the pie dish. Then I placed them back into the freezer until ready to serve. To serve I garnished each piece with drizzled hot fudge and whipped cream. Very rich but very good!
This recipe is positively divine! I made it recently for guests and it was a big hit. I am making it again this weekend. I can’t wait! Yum!
This recipe is absolutely divine! Thank you! I made it last week for guests and it got rave reviews from a tough “foodie” crowd of difficult to please friends.
Yum, I will have to give this a try. I love simple recipes!
My friend who bakes the most amazing pies I sent this to her can not wait to try this via made by my pie baking friend!!!!
I make a pie similar to this one, only I use a prebaked pie crust and the Peach Mango Smoothie Yogurt. I do top it with cool whip and peach slices. It is wonderful. Linda
this one is going into the recipe file!
YUMMY!!
I do not bake but I believe I can handle this one. Thanks Turkey Hill!
I make angel food cake, slice off the top and bottom and layer with Turkey Hill strawberry ice cream and strawberry preserves. The only hard part is slicing the angel food, but any piece that breaks off belongs to the cook!
I never tried Duetto, but now that I’ve seen this recipe, I know I’m going to have to get some.
woo looks so good ,and easy to make ,love this cool pie
I’m lucky that I had a notion
To try Turkey Hill “Creamy Commotions.”
Moose Tracks set my heart aflutter
With yummy chocolate fudge and peanut butter!
Oooh! My son loves lemons. I think I’ll make one of these for when he comes home from Boy Scout camp on Saturday.
I’ll be making this for the weekend,
What a great dessert and a great way to use Turkey Hill. I like to make a Smore version with chocolate ice cream and a graham cracker crust. I sprinkle on toasted marshmallows and it is so good!
Another great idea with another Turkey Hill product!
mmm…I know Duetto is offered in three other flavors besides lemon…so can’t wait to discover more delicious possibilites!
yummy!
I will definitely give this recipe a try. Our older son loves lemon pie and lemon meringue pie. When he visits, I intend to serve this for dessert. Thanks for the idea.
that sounds so refreshing-great for these hot summer days!
A great summertime dessert! I hate to turn on the oven in the summer!
That looks yummy!! Will have to try it.
Sounds soooo good. I like all the Duettos, will try it.
Thank you. Looking forward to trying this.
i dont think i have the willpower to put into a recipe. i think i would end up cheating and eating it as it was scooped from carton into pie shell.
Yummy! Sounds so good!
That’s so easy! I love cool whip, yummmm
I’m thinking some kind of caramel ice cream pie…oh the possiblities. Amy
Sounds delicious. Wonderful dessert idea. Can’t wait to try it.
Good Morning to all Turkey Hill Fans,
That is how I make my Lemon Ice Cream Pie, But, I Add 1 cup of lemon pie filling to my Turkey Hill Lemon Pie duetto. It give it a little more lemon pie taste. I cook my lemon sliced until they are like candie, chill slices; place on top of my pie. I love your recipe. I used any kind of bake pie crust too. Now All we need a cranberry duetto. That would be good in the fall and winter season. I love the picture of the pie too.
I will definately surprise my grandchildren with this one! Thanks!
Sounds easy and good
This recipe sounds so good and since I don’t turn my oven on all summer, this would be the perfect dessert to make especially when the grandkids come over because I always try to have something special for them. I have never used ice cream in a recipe before except for sundaes or banana splits….there’s a whole new world of recipes out there. Thanks Turkey Hill!
I make a quick Mousse using TH Philly style Chocolate and Whipping cream. My neice made me use Cool whip cause it’s quicker and we can eat it faster.
Soften the ice cream gentle fold in Cool Whip with spatula. Layer in a tall glass the choc mixture followed by a sprinkle of crushed cookie crumbs (I use Oreos my nephews graham crackers, my niece Nilla Wafers, then Coolwhip, cookie crumbs, then choc mixture. Top with small (melon ball scoop) of ice cream refreeze then serve. Hmmmm a chocoholics dream.
I love lemons so this recipe is perfect. Thanks for all your good tips.
Sounds great and I love an easy pie fix! My favorite duetto is the cherry. Hmmm, I guess you can do it with any fruit duetto.
Never tried any of the TH Duettos, but this sound easy and delcious. Something that could be an easy desert for unexpected company.
Ahhh, cool, easy, refreshing….
Sounds absolutely refreshing!!!
One need never light an oven again to bake a dessert! With Turkey Hill ice creams, duetto’s and sherberts,, the possibilities are endless! Just use your imagination!
I agree with linda with the lack of willpower to put it in the pie shell. I prefer to save the energy and just eat my TH from the carton undiluted.
This morning I saw on WB11 competition giving out free ice cream in front of their building (Old name “the Daily News building”. If you did it maybe Superman will come back there.
a few years ago i came up with something for my grandkids when they were visiting. we have tried many different combinations, and toppings, but this is the basic recipe.
jello made in bowl or squares. layer jello, ice cream, cool whip and then a topping. simple, easy, the kids can make one kind or vary it as they like by themselves as i put out different types of goodies, and they get creative. make many layers, or whatever. it is fun and delicious. adults love doing it too. but best of all everyone loves eating turkey hill ice cream this way !
This recipe is wonderful and simple enough for me to have my kids help. My daughter will love it.
This sounds delicious but it’s always tough for me not to stick with my favorite Turkey Hill flavor (Vanilla).
I can’t wait to try it! Sounds just like something I would totally love! Thank you for the idea!
I can’t wait to try this!
Going to the store to buy the ingredients, I’ll bring a spoon to do a “quality control check” of the Turkey Hill ice cream in the car on the way home…don’t worry I won’t “double dip” I’ll bring a BIG spoon!
AHHHHH! Talk about refreshing.
Sounds delicious! I might try it tonight
i love all the favors of the duets. so the lemon would go onto my reciepe boos
so thanks
Haven’t tried this flavor yet. The pie sounds cool and delicious. A great summerime dessert.
Mmmmmmmm…….. just like lemon meringue …….. my favorite. AND that Southern Lemon Pie Ice Cream can’t be beat!
This sounds sooooo good, I can’t wait to try it!
I’m not too hot for mixing ice cream and lemons. I guess it shows my age.
That makes up my mind on what to have tonight. Thanks.
Sounds great. Definately have to try it.
Since I don’t have the lemon Duetto flavor in my freezer now, I’ll have to stop on the way home from the Y and pick up the fixings for this pie. It’s a must have for dessert tonight!
I’M GOING TO TRY THAT RECIPE, IT SOUNDS GOOD. ALSO EASY.
Sounds like a refreshing twist to the traditional lemon meringue pie…customized for the summer. Kudos!
Mmmmmm! I would like to try this with the cherry duetto, make my own graham cracker crust with some chopped roasted almonds in it, add 2 tbsp of maraschino cherry juice to the cool whip, then sprinkle some maraschino cherries on top. I bet that would be heavenly!! I think I will be on my way to the grocery store shortly, although it seems every time I turn around they are out of the cherry duetto…
(
Not a big lemon fan…I think I’ll try mine with Mango Duetto add some pineapple juice and top it off with coconut…I’ll lety yiou know how it works out.
Thanks everyone for all the other great recipe ideas
OOOHH, and I’m thinking of the coconut/ soft serve chocolate mix with chocolate whipped cream and almonds -
my favorite deserts always include Turkey Hill.
Love the duets especially the rootbeer one. I made lemon duets cups and in between the layers I put fresh rasberries ( or blueberries) from my garden. Looks so pretty and tastes so good.
someone please save me a slice, this sounds so delicious, I hope to get to try it soon
This is a great recipe, tastes almost like Lemon Merangie (or however you spell it!) Lemon Duetto is also great with chocolate syrup on top!
I will be making this pie next week to surprise my son who comes home after a year in Japan! Don’t think he was able to get Turkey Hill ice cream there….I know he will appreciate this treat!
Oh Yummy! I have been meaning to try a duetto. Just last night we bought the nutty caramel carabou flavor of frozen yogurt. First time buying a frozen yogurt and I have to say it was AWESOME!
Even a child can make this pie. I’m not too fond of lemon as a flavor. Do you have one with coconut, pineapple, and almonds? I do love the root beer flavor, though. Love your ice cream, no matter what flavor. It’s just plain good.
Simple is good!!! This recipe sounds perfect for guests or when you don’t want to get busted for eating right out of the box…
This recipe sounds lemonlicious!
It sounds absolutely delicious! Only problem is finding the lemon Duetto!
I’m not a big fan of lemon, but the cherry one that someone made sounded great. Now I have to go looing for the ice cream.
Sounds GREAT!!! I love the ice cream recipe ideas. Can’t wait to try this one.
What a cool recipe for a hot summer night. Can’t wait to try it. Come on over for a slice!
I would like to try this, as my husband loves lemon.
Could you make root beer pie with that flavor of
Duetto? We love it! We also bought the cherry flavor and it would make a great pie.
I have recently discovered Choc Peanut Butter Cup – we absolutely love it even though we never thought Vanilla Bean could be replaced. Now I shall have to try this Lemon Duetto ice cream and make this awesome pie. I’ve never tried to buy this before and I’m hoping that it’s readily available in the supermarket. I cannot wait to make it..
I love lemon flavored desserts!! I hope I can find the Lemon Duetto here so that I can try this pie. It sounds like such a refreshing dessert or snack to have on a hot summer night:)
I am usually not a huge fan of lemon, but the Duetto lemon is probably my favorite out of all the Duetto flavors. This dessert looks very appealing. Thanks to all of you who submitted other interesting ideas and variations to try. Maybe we’ll see a Turkey Hill recipe book available in the future!
Simply DELICIOUS!!!
I am definitely going to try this recipe, sounds delicious! It easy to make too!
Sounds wonderful. My husband will like this one.
This one sounds wonderful.
Since lemon duetto is my very favorite I just know this lemon duetto pie is going to be scrumptuous!!—can’t wait to make it. Thanks for the wonderful ideas
This one is a keeper……absolutely
delicious……thank you for the treat!
Thanks so much for the recipe – sounds delicious. I haven’t tried the lemon duetto flavor, but I will soon and I will be making this pie also!
My e-mail’s been down for a few days, but I did want to comment on the ice cream headache article, and thank you for the tips. I have gotten these headaches for years, especially when I eat too fast. I always take a drink of water and it goes away, but it was I had never heard of the pressing on the roof of your mouth. It’s interesting also that I suffered with severe migraine headaches for 20 years before I got relief. I had never heard them mentioned together before. Very informative article!!!
I will be needing a desert in a couple of weeks for a family dinner and the duetto lemon pie will be the one I’ll make.
I just bought the Duetto Root Beer float! Can’t wait to taste it!
Wow what an easy and delicious sounding dessert, I can’t wait to make/eat it!
This looks easy enough for even me to make. Thanks for sharing.
