SECOND SCOOP: ICE CREAM DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR?
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
As many of you may have noticed, the Ice Cream Journal was down for the count over the last few days. We apologize for the outage and hope you were able to indulge your informational sweet tooth in other ways. Speaking of indulgences, here’s an entry that was originally posted in July 2007, but we thought it deserved a second look. Enjoy!
Since we started the blog, we’ve heard from a lot of people who used to live in Pennsylvania or other areas where Turkey Hill Ice Cream is available but have since moved away. The result is a nagging craving for Turkey Hill. Sure, they try to fill that void with “another brand,” but that doesn’t always work.
If you or someone you know is among these long distance Turkey Hill lovers, you’ll be happy to hear that we offer packages of ice cream shipped right to your door. That’s right, you can still enjoy Mango Duetto (or any other Turkey Hill flavor) even if you live in Los Angeles or Topeka or El Paso.
We won’t lie, shipping ice cream isn’t cheap, what with all the dry ice and special handling (four 48-ounce or 56-ounce containers costs $86). But if you’ve gotta have some Turkey Hill, you’ve gotta have some Turkey Hill. If you want to order some Moose Tracks for yourself-or if you’re lucky enough to live in a Turkey Hill area and want to surprise someone with a shipment-check out this page for more information.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

My husband and I eat the Fat Free/No Sugar Added vanilla bean ice cream every night! We recently went to Arizona and tried several different kinds of Fat Free ice cream but none could begin to compare with the creamy texture of Turkey Hill.
September 2nd, 2008 at 2:30 pmWe are trying to decide if we should move to Arizona and I honestly said, “I bet we couldn’t get “our” ice cream there” and he said, “Then we can’t go”!
I think it’s a wonderful idea to be able to order Turkey Hill from anywhere we go in the country. Keep it up!
Excellent – send me some Turkey Hill Ice Cream!
August 18th, 2008 at 12:55 pmI am glad I have Turkey Hill in my supermarket. I just bought Moose Tracks, Cookies n Cream, and Tin Roof Sundae. My husband loved the Moose Tracks and it was a toss up for the other ones for me. Um Um Good
August 18th, 2008 at 11:04 amFour containers for $86.00?? That’s absurd! How can Omaha Steaks ship their products, dry ice, et al, and continue to keep shipping costs down? I should think that Turkey Hill, with its patrons’ mammoth weekly consumption of ice cream, could/should keep shipping affordable.
August 16th, 2008 at 2:31 pmMy daughter in Salt Lake City is an ice cream addict. If I really want to surprise her, I’ll definitely keep Turkey Hill in mind.
August 16th, 2008 at 9:11 amWaiting for a shipment of ice cream? I don’t think I could wait that long. Thank goodness the grocery stores are five minutes away and fully supplied with Turkey Hill.
August 16th, 2008 at 7:54 amI’m glad that I can just walk to get Turkey Hill
August 16th, 2008 at 7:20 amThank goodness, we live in Turkey Hill land where your ice creams are readily available. Haven’t located the Junior Mint one and also, did I read in one of the comments that you have something out called “box of chocolates”? Haven’t seen that one yet either? Are they short time flavors, or will they be year-round? At least, we can “drown our sorrows” in all the other delicious flavors. Keep bringing them on!!
August 15th, 2008 at 2:08 pmI used to bring half gallons of TH tea back to Albuquerque when I visited Lancaster…with the new regulations, was no longer able to do that! Sure do miss your products in NM ! We have Kroegers stores…why not TH products?
August 15th, 2008 at 10:50 amI have to hand it to you guys (gals)! Every new flavor you come out with is such a happy surprise which taste out of this world. My favorite is chocolate/coconut which I got to taste when it first came out, but I’m so frustrated because I can’t find it any more. If I could afford the $86.00, I’d order it from the site and would be in ice cream heaven!! Unfortunately, I can’t. I purchase you’re Duetto flavors from A&P in Pompton Plains (or Wanaque, not sure of the town)New Jersey. I would buy 4 containers at a time if they carried the chocolate/coconut. By the way, the word must have gotten around how wonderful the Duetto is because Eddy’s has now come out with root beer/vanilla and another, I can’t remember the flavor. Keep up the great work, and if you can tell me how I can get a hold of the choc./coconut, I would appreciate it immensely.
August 14th, 2008 at 9:54 pmWhat a great idea! Ice Cream shipped for a special gift! We find Turkey Hill ice cream to be the creamiest and best tasting of all of the brands for sale in the supermarkets in Lancaster County. I have never had a container that had ice particles mixed in the ice cream like some of the other big brands.
August 14th, 2008 at 9:02 pmThat’s great for people who can’t get Turkey Hill! I am fortunate enough to be able to buy it in the supermarket
.

August 14th, 2008 at 7:45 pmGreat idea, but glad to be living within a mile of my nearest Turkey Hill and even closer to the market that carries it! Buy nothing but!!
August 14th, 2008 at 7:05 pmI live in NJ and, fortunately, all of my local supermarkets carry Turkey Hill. It’s the best!!!
August 14th, 2008 at 5:10 pmsure glad I live where I can get Turkey Hill …. and do not have to spend money on shipping …. I just spend it on more Turkey Hill!

August 14th, 2008 at 3:15 pm$86…that’s crazy talkin!!! I’m glad I live in NJ for one thing. Amy
August 14th, 2008 at 3:02 pmthis is so exciting, I will now send some to my sister in florida even if there is a turkey hill near her, it makes a great gift
August 14th, 2008 at 2:09 pmI’m so blessed — the last 3 places I’ve lived have been less than a block and a half from a Turkey Hill! Never a midnight craving gets away that easily!
August 14th, 2008 at 1:58 pmWhile we’re on the topic of having Turkey Hill products near you, we should point our Product Finder tool on our website. Just enter your zip code and it’ll give you a list of stores near you that carry Turkey Hill products!

August 14th, 2008 at 12:25 pmTurkey Hill does make it around, but I am in Florida with my family, Port St Lucie and we miss it here. Luckily I get to return to PA, but they don’t so I think you should expand down to FL so my family can enjoy as they used to in New York.
August 14th, 2008 at 12:03 pmThank goodness TH is in my local super market. With all the children grown up and married we now have our own flavors. Along with his and her items, chairs, mugs — we now have his and her flavors. We have plenty of room out here on Long Island for a Turkey Hill Plant come on over to the East-end.
August 14th, 2008 at 11:26 amI’m aware of Turkey Hills’ presence on the moon, but on Mars, I’m not so sure.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:56 amShipping Turkey Hill sounds great but just too pricey for me. Nice to know that option is available.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:13 amShipping ice cream (what a great idea)but a little too pricey for me. My daughter in Hawaii will have to wait till she visits home to enjoy Turkey Hill.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:10 amWhat a great idea, expensive, but great! I guess if you have to have your Turkey Hill, you have to have it!
Still looking for that Junior Mint here in Staten Island???
August 14th, 2008 at 9:11 amGreat innovation, Turkey Hill IS a leader! That is just wonderful that people can get a taste no matter where they live in the USA! Kudos to Turkey Hill!
August 14th, 2008 at 8:58 amWell, I’ve had items packed in dry ice delivered before. They always arrived completely frozen even when I worked and the package sat at the front door in the sun until I came home. However, with ice cream I wouldn’t surprise anyone but would tell them so they could be home to receive the delivery. In addition to a completely frozen product it would also afford them the opportunity to grab a spoon and dig right into the yummy TH.
August 14th, 2008 at 8:56 amThis would be a great gift idea, especially for senior citizens that may not be able to get out often, or are on a strict budget. The seniors I know all love ice cream! The perfect answer for that hard to buy for person too! Another wonderful item from Turkey Hill. Thanks!
August 14th, 2008 at 8:25 amWOW, THATS LIKE FLYING COW’ S AT YOUR DOOR;;;COOL ,
August 14th, 2008 at 8:23 amWe are fortunate enough to be able to get Turkey Hill at our grocery store and the Turkey Hill Minute Markets here. When we drive to Lancaster, I sometimes count the Turkey Hill trucks on the road, delivering their products. And there are a LOT of them!!
August 14th, 2008 at 8:19 amFortunately we live in the areas that Turkey Hill Ice Cream is available…..would hope that if I ever moved out of the area, that someone would mail me Moose Traks.!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 14th, 2008 at 8:18 amWe are lucky enough to live in the TH distribution area. The ice cream is a great gift idea since the receiver will not have another dust collector in their home. One thing they should save is the shipping box. We have gotten them as gifts of steaks and keep them in the trunk of the car to put the TH we get at the store in for the drive home. They weigh little so you also don’t reduce your gas mileage.
August 14th, 2008 at 8:09 amwe are fortunate enough to live where Turkey Hill is sold. but I am sure there are people who would pay the price to have it delivered.
August 14th, 2008 at 7:56 amI’m glad I live in NJ where Turkey Hill is readily available. We’re going marketing today and two containers of T.H. are on our list. Can’t live without it!
August 14th, 2008 at 7:29 amOrdering TH ice cream delivered by mail, would certainly have to be a SPECIAL treat, at those prices, but I”m sure it would be worth every cent! I think, instead, I’d really work hard to try & get it carried in my local stores so I could enjoy it regularly
