THE EAGLES TOUCHDOWN SUNDAE EATING CONTEST IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Many of you many know that that Turkey Hill’s Eagles Touchdown Sundae ice cream is the official ice cream of the Philadelphia Eagles football team. It’s a distinction we’re very proud of, which is why Turkey Hill has partnered with Philly’s #1 sports radio station, 610 WIP, to host this year’s Eagles Touchdown Sundae Eating Contest.
Long story short, if you love ice cream, love football and don’t mind being whisked around New York in a limousine, this contest is for you. Here’s how it will work:
The contest will feature four preliminary showdowns held at the WIP game day tent at the Wachovia Center before the first four Eagles home games of the season. In each contest, eight contestants will battle to see who can eat the most ice cream. But there’s a catch: They can’t use their hands (you didn’t think it would be easy, did you?). The winner will advance to the final eat-off on November 8 and will also receive a poster and helmet autographed by Eagles star Brian Dawkins.
On November 8, the four winners of the preliminary rounds will face off and the champion will receive two tickets to see the Eagles take on the Giants in New York as well as limo transportation and hotel accommodations!
We may be a little biased, but it’s a pretty sweet prize package. A lot of us around the office wish we were eligible, but we’re not, so it’s up to you to take a shot at it! The good news is, you don’t have to have Eagles tickets to compete. You just need to sign up on the WIP website (here) and show up at the booth on game day. We’ll keep you posted about the winners of each round and offer complete coverage of the championship round here on the Ice Cream Journal. Stay tuned and good luck!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

September 9th, 2008 at 9:25 amI wish I could be there to enjoy this tasty contest but not this time. I will be cheering on the lucky participants from my home as I endulge in a huge bowl of Turkey Hill ice cream!!!!
September 8th, 2008 at 6:36 pmGood luck to all!!!!
This is one of my favorite flavors, though I am not a fan of football. My husband is from Detroit, and remains faithful to his Detroit Lions, watching them play…eating Eagle’s Touchdown Sundae! (I don’t think he pays attention to the packaging!) Hey, we are all winners with Turkey Hill!

can you also please post the names of the participants in the 4 groups of 8 plus the winners of those rounds, plus the finals winner?
What a game! Big rivals. Thank you, Turkey Hill.

September 7th, 2008 at 2:15 pmSounds like a fun contest for those who live in that area and I’m sure it would be hilarious to watch. Good luck to all who enter that yummy contest.

September 6th, 2008 at 9:17 pmWhat could I say I live in Cleveland (Go Browns) so for all the ice cream I want count me in.

September 6th, 2008 at 8:12 pmSounds like a great time! Good Luck to all the winners!
September 6th, 2008 at 7:25 pmSounds like fun to me, but I can’t get away since I am a caregiver to an elderly brother. I bet any money he could easily win a TH Ice Cream eating contest, he eats it at least 2-3 times a day. At 82 yrs. old and in bad shape like he is, ice cream is what he loves and the Dr. says give him what he wants. Good luck to all who enter. Linda
September 6th, 2008 at 7:08 pmI think I might have a problem…..I am a Philly fan…..yah for Donavan…but my husband is a die hard Giants fan….could be trouble in paradise!!
September 6th, 2008 at 6:30 pmOoh, Lordy! I like me some TH ice cream, but I think an eating contest with no hands… that’s a bit rich for my blood!
(…unless it was Baked Apple Dumpling….hm…..)
September 6th, 2008 at 6:19 pmHi Turkey Hills Fans
September 6th, 2008 at 6:16 pmI love your story, sorry I wish i could come up there to see the game. I love Turkey Hill ice cream, but I am a Redskin and Dallas fans. Now it would be so nice of you to come up with a ice cream call redskin or Dallas ice cream, I sure would buy it. everyone have nice weekend
No “offense”, but being a diehard Chicago Bears fan, I feel somewhat slighted! I mean, we have Brian Urlacher & Devin Hester, Lance Briggs, Mike Brown, Robby Gould, (Robby is from Schuylkill Haven & a PSU grad!!) Aren’t they worth being honored with their own TH ice cream, too? I can see it now, the new flavor name could be “Monsters of the Midway” and feature their big “C” and bear head on the side of the packaging. Come on guys .. whaddya say?!?!? GOOOOOOOO BEARS!!!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 5:50 pmI can’t wait for this and to try the ice cream!! Barbara
September 6th, 2008 at 3:54 pmI’d love to be part of the contest, but I can’t eat much at one time. Sounds like fun.
September 6th, 2008 at 3:42 pmToo far for us to travel, but may the best “Turkey” win, that being the fastest Turkey Hill Ice Cream eater!!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 3:21 pmgood luck to those harty ice cream eaters
September 6th, 2008 at 3:14 pmlove to go
September 6th, 2008 at 3:08 pmSorry to far away, to even participate, would like to watch. Cannot do that either. Good luck to all that participate!
September 6th, 2008 at 1:54 pm[...] it out, Turkey Hill Ice Cream is hosting a Eagles-themed ice cream eating contest. I find it oddly [...]
September 6th, 2008 at 1:45 pmMay the best Eagle soar! Better get in some conditioning before the big event. Peanut Butter & Chocolate is hard to beat! Maybe warm up with Coconut Cream Pie first.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:33 pmJust went to Lancaster last weekend. Had a great time. Bought some nice mums and vegetables from a farm stand on the road. No Turkey Hill, though!
September 6th, 2008 at 1:22 pmGo EAGLES
September 6th, 2008 at 1:21 pmHi Turkey Hill, I just came home from 12 days in Seoul, Korea. Nice place to visit but there is NO Turkey Hill there. I’m glad to be home and have ready access to my favorite flavors of Turkey Hill.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:01 pmAs Turkey Hill is now a larger regional company, how about expanding the contest to include other teams. Here in Ohio, you might offer trips to the Browns or Bengals, (I would prefer the Browns, myself) or offer Western Pennsylvanians trips to see the Steelers. I realize you started with the Eagles as your home team, but not all consumers of Turkey Hill root the same wasy.
September 6th, 2008 at 12:42 pmI love the Touchdown Sundae I.C. It is one of favorites that Turkey Hill makes.I can’t compete in the contest, it’s too far for me to get there.
September 6th, 2008 at 12:25 pmSOUNDS FUN BUT I LIKE TO ENJOY EACH MOUTHFUL OF THE ICE CREAM WHICH I DON’T THINK I COULD DO IN THE CONTEST.
September 6th, 2008 at 12:19 pmGOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ENTER!!!!!!
OMG I’m going to sign my husand up right now. Gotta Run and he has to practice!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 12:16 pmWOW!!! TH ice cream, a limo, hotel and a Giant’s victory—Hog Heaven!!!
September 6th, 2008 at 11:49 amOh, my, I feel a HUGE ice cream headache coming on — the idea of diving into ice cream mouth-first sends chills up my spine. I prefer a spoon–but it would be great fun to watch others! Happy ice cream eating to those who compete!
September 6th, 2008 at 7:18 amOh my!! I wonder how they do it without getting a polar bear headache!! It would be a great competition to see!
September 6th, 2008 at 7:00 amI wish I lived closer - the chance to participate and down all the TH ice cream I can shove into my mouth is the best prize!!
