Last week we told you about the Turkey Hill Eagles Touchdown Sundae Eating Contest we’ll be co-sponsoring this year with Philly’s #1 sports radio station, 610 WIP. The first contest was held this past Sunday before the Eagles season opener and needless to say, it was a battle!
In the end, Matt Clement of Lafayette Hill, PA emerged as the winner by eating 36 ounces of Eagles Touchdown Sundae ice cream in just three minutes (that’s the champ on the right). For those keeping count, that’s over two pounds of ice cream, and he wasn’t even allowed to use his hands! Congratulations to Matt. For his effort, he won a poster and helmet autographed by Eagles star Brian Dawkins. He also advances to the final showdown on November 9, where the winner will receive a prize package that includes limousine transportation, hotel accommodations and two tickets to see the Eagles take on the Giants on December 7.
The next Turkey Hill Eagles Touchdown Sundae Eating Contest will take place on September 21 before the Eagles/Steelers game. If you think you’ve got what it takes to win, feel free to sign up on the WIP website. Good luck!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
[...] Report on first Philadelphia Eagles ice cream contest qualifier [...]
since ice cream is sold by volume, and this contest is judged by weight, approximately how many quarts is 36 ounces of TH Eagles Touchdown Sundae ice cream? or, to put it another way, is that about one box (1.75 qts size) or more?
did any of the 8 contestants report brain freeze?
how close was the contest? did Matt consume twice as much as the last place person? can you list the weights eaten by the other 7 contestants?
were all the contestants men? any kids?
any video of the contest we can view?
thnx.
Wow what a great victory. I bet he couldn’t have eaten as much if it wasn’t Turkey Hill. This is real ice cream love.
Good Morning to all of Turkey Hill fans,
That is the prettiest Picture.I can tell he had a good time. I could not have eaten all of that ice cream in 3 minutes. That is a good time to get all of that ice cream. Everyone have a good Turkey Hill ice cream.
I wonder how much practice that took — it would seem extremely difficult to me to eat ice cream without your hands and do it so fast — but I guess with Turkey Hill Eagles ice cream, that made it easier.
OMG…you like ice cream as much as I do!!!
WOW, HOPE HE ENJOYED THE ICE CREAM;;;;
I prefer toeat mine alot slower. Much more time to enjoy it and also to avoid getting an ice cream headache.
He is my kind of guy, he loves his TH ice cream as much as my brother and myself. I wish him good luck in the next contest. Linda
I would love to be in an ice cream eating contest! We don’t have that flavor here! Barbara
I am glad for Matt! I just can not watch those contests people eating fast I have to hold my stomach an swallow!!!
i bet it tasted good
I would have a definite ice cream freeze head-ache! Good for him!
He looks so happy! Today is 9-11, a reminder to celebrate each and every day of our lives. Get a bowl Of T.H. and lift it up as a toast to those we lost, and those we love. Thanks T.H.T. for making our lives a little sweeter.
Wow congrats! Did he get brain freeze?
Good Luck to the next contestants.
36 ounces, that is over 2 lbs, but I am sure it could add over 10 lbs if I ate it, so I am glad I do not do these contest. I am sure it was delicious
As to all those folks who mentioned brain freeze, maybe that’s the face Matt makes when he gets one. As for me, I shut my eyes real tight and tense my body. I’ve tried the tongue on palate thing but it doesn’t seem to work since my tongue is cold from all the TH that’s already passed over it.
WOW! How did he do that without getting a brain freeze?
How exciting – thanks for providing us with the photo. Looks like Matt had a great time!
36 ounces in 3 minutes? ROOKIE
My son did an internship with WIP while he was a student at Temple U. He really enjoyed it. I hope it helps him find a job–soon.
Too bad my daughter lives in Salt Lake City. She would definitely be up for the Ice Cream competition!
Yes, we’ve been to Eagles training camp in Bethlehem, PA. It was very interesting and fun.
Wow! That is some serious dedication… to both the Eagles and to Turkey Hill Ice Cream!
At least it wouldn’t have time melt before he got it ate. LOL
