The following will be sent out via e-mail to our mailing list, but we thought we’d announce it here on the Ice Cream Journal to give you all a head start. By the way, if you’re not already on our e-mail list, you can sign up here.
We know it’s only October, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the holidays. That’s why we’re happy to announce Turkey Hill’s Ultimate Holiday Recipe Contest.
It’s pretty simple. All you need to do is create a recipe using either Turkey Hill’s Egg Nog Seasonal Premium Ice Cream (in stores now) or our Peppermint Stick Limited Edition Premium Ice Cream (in stores in mid-November) and send it to us at icecreamjournal@gmail.com by December 1. Your recipe can be anything you’d like – a drink, a pie, or something entirely different! The only requirement is that the recipe includes one of those two flavors, preferably as the main ingredient. Oh, and even though it’s not required, if you can take a photo of your finished product, please do so and send it in along with your recipe.
The best recipes will be featured on the Turkey Hill website and the authors will receive a one month’s supply of ice cream. In fact, you can visit our recipes page right now for inspiration. The top four recipes – two for Eggnog and two for Peppermint – will be featured one at time on the Ice Cream Journal, from December 8-11. Using the blog’s poll, visitors will then be able to vote for their favorite recipe, with the winner receiving a year’s supply of Turkey Hill ice cream!
Good luck and feel free to submit as many recipes as you’d like!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
oooooooo! Eggnog ice cream! will have to start experimenting right now!oh, it is only 7am-will wait an hour or two…….
Will have to get busy in the kitchen!!
Peppermint Stick Limited Edition should be sold year around! It is one of my favorites. I can’t wait to start experimenting with different ideas to see what I can make with it. I must on 2 on hand so that I can eat from one and work with the other!
I’m always in charge of making the desserts for our family holiday meals. What t great time for new recipes and for making up some of my own! Just hope I can find the “new” holiday flavors at my store.
Always good to get new inspiration every holiday season. And although I look forward to feature flavors at Christmas like Peppermint Stick and Egg Nog, I wish Turkey Hill would have a Christmas flavor featuring Chocolate Covered Cherries!
Well, I’m old-fashioned when it comes to eating ice cream. I only want it plain, with toppings, or on a pie or brownie. I don’t want to incorporate it into a recipe.
By the way, Ernie, I guess I missed the email notifying us about your appearance on Unwrapped. However, I did happen to be channel surfing that night and heard the words moose tracks so I stopped and caught most of the segment. Good job and nice to see TH get some national recognition.
Why dilute a good thing. I am now into your “Orange Cream Swirl”. Last nite even after brushing my teeth I had to raid the freezer for some more. I agree with Sarah it can be used as a topping (Pie) or be topped like a Sundae.
Sorry but I don’t get involved with the blogs but just wanted to say thanks for the update on the Peppermint being available in mid-November. It is our favorite and we plan on “stock-piling several in our freezer for the summer months when it is so cooling.
I also want to thank the person who sent me some coupons earlier. Sorry to be so slow to do this.
Have a happy Halloween!
Loretta
Can’t wait to see what recipes everyone has. Trying them will be even better!
If anyone looked in my cookbook cupboard, they would know I just love a good recipe!
I don’t make many ice cream recipes,as it is a dessert all in itself. I will look for the flavors for the holidays.

I am not interested in a receipe for the new flavors but I plan to try them .by the way I looked all summer for a blueberry ice cream not cheesecake just pain blueberry ice-cream.
I would make a chocolate sponge roll up cake filled with Peppermint stick ice cream and serve it with whipped cream & maybe a little hot fudge…Yummy!
Thanks for the 2009 calendar, I have already used one of the coupons as Turkey Hill is on sale this week.
Two of my favorite foods are bananas
and peanut butter. I just realized that a couple of my grandchildren like the combination, as a fast snack. It would be wonderful to find this combination in your ice cream!
Thank you.
I would like to see the combination of bananas and peanut butter in one of your ice creams. They are both nutritious. Favorite foods of mine and my grandchildren, I notice.
Thank you .
