CYNTHIA G. OF COLMAR, PA, ASKS: I took the opportunity to “sample” lots of gelato (with whipped cream) while on a recent trip to Italy. The flavors and texture seem very different from ice cream. What makes them so different?
Italy?! I’m jealous. Gelato (or gelati) is delicious and you’re right, the texture is a lot different. Gelato is denser than ice cream because it contains less air. It’s also made with whole milk with less butterfat than most ice cream, which can also affect the feel and texture.
If you like gelato, you might like our Duetto! The soft serve ice cream in Duetto is inspired by gelato and the flavored ice in Duetto is patterned after Italian ice! It might not compare to REAL Italian gelato, but it’s the next best thing!

I LOVE the Duetto…one of my favorites. My daughter spent 3 weeks in Italy and had the “real” Gelato which was out of this world according to her! The kit looks like it would keep a child busy with hours of fun!

I have had gelato in Italy and Duetto in America and both are great tasting! Being an American, I prefer Duetto!

I love the Turkey Hill Vanilla soft serve with cherry Venice Ice, which is what is in my freezer right now. It’s great to serve at this time of the year! I like the one that tastes like creamsicle also. Nice combination. The childs ice cream set would be perfect for my granddaughter as she has a play kitchen in her play room.

Haven’t been to Italy to compare, but am more than satisfied with Duetto chocolate and coconut. UMMMMMMM!
We have a local store that specializes in gelati. It’s that type of ice cream that is good for a once in awhile treat i.e. if you want to try something different. But I will stick to Turkey Hill when I want something on a daily basis.

Duetto is awesome too. I live in western Pa. near Pittsburgh but haven’t been able to find the Chocolate Coconut Duetto. Just wondering TH, if you distribute that flavor in our area?
I love the raspberry and lemon duette other than chocolate marshmallow I will buy those. A mango coconut duet would really taste good. What a cute playset but I think the kids would like to play with the real thing because it tastes great.
Whether scooping ice cream or duetto, the Turkey Hill scoop works the best. Much better then the other expensive scoops I have from culinary stores. A Turkey Hill scoop and a Turkey Hill gift certificate make a GREAT gift combo for ANY celebration.

Yes Cynthia, I also recommend you try the Duetto brand from Turkey Hill. I must admit, I was skeptical of it at first, and preferred the over 20 flavors of hard ice cream with many add ins and swirls of goodies, but when I got a free coupon to try the Duetto for free I couldn’t pass up the offer. And let me tell you I am so glad I did. It is the perfect combination of melt in your mouth icey swirl, and soft super creamy ice cream. It really does melt in your moth, coating your tongue with a sugary blanket, and leaving a lingering tingle. The soft serve does taste richer, but smoother too. Its so hard to get the super creamy soft serve ice cream, but Turkey Hill manages it. You could even leave it out for the freezer for 10 minutes before serving it, and it will be the perfect consistency. Yum, yum yum. And since I am recommending, I have to say that the coconut duetoo with the chocolate ice cream is my personal favorite. Its simply fabulous! The consistency is thicker and closer to gelato, but still has the delectibly delighting dessert treat taste of Turkey Hill.

I love the Duetto’s from Turkey Hill. They are delicious!
When my daughter was in Italy a couple of years ago I think she lived on gelato. I know one day she ate four servings!
Our first taste of it was in the King of Prussia mall and it was yummy.
I first tried gelato back in the 70’s while on a Med cruise when I was in the Navy. Some great eating while we were over there.
Where can I buy Gelato, so I can compare it with the Duetto?

My wife and I planning to go to Italy on our 30th Anniversary in 2 years. However we are not suffering because we throughly enjoy Turkey Hill Duettos, YES YES All flavors, my favorite is Chocolate/Coconut and her favorite is Cherry.
