AN INTERVIEW WITH DYNAMIC DUO #1: CARAMEL CONE CHAOS

Posted by: Turkey Hill Team

Turkey Hill’s newest line of ice cream flavors, Dynamic Duos, features two different but complimentary ice cream flavors packed into the same container. To introduce you the Duos, we sat down for a series of unprecedented one-on-one interviews with each new addition. We caught up with our first of four interview subjects, Caramel Cone Chaos early on Tuesday morning in the Turkey Hill warehouse.

TURKEY HILL DAIRY: As one of our newest flavors, we know you must be busy, so we’d like to thank you for taking some time to chat with us.

CARAMEL CONE CHAOS: No problem at all, I was chillin’ out in the warehouse for a bit.

THD: One half of you is a caramel flavored ice cream with chocolate-covered cone pieces and the other half is vanilla ice cream with a creamy caramel swirl. How does it feel to be the most caramel packed flavor in the Turkey Hill family?

CCC: It’s an honor. No doubt about it. When I first learned that there would be caramel flavors in both sides of me, I wasn’t sure what to think. But then I got my name and it all made sense.

THD: Speaking of your name, how chaotic have things been for your and your Dynamic Duos cousins?

CCC: For a while it was non-stop. There were meetings and discussions and taste tests followed by adjustments to the recipe. Then there were more taste tests and quality control checks. Then we got fitted for our new package designs. It’s been pretty hectic, but we’re just taking it one day at a time and doing whatever it takes to make everyone proud. Now we finally have a chance to catch our breath and appreciate being part of the Turkey Hill family.

THD: You won’t have much time off though. You’ll be hitting the road and on shelves soon, right?

CCC: That’s what they tell us. I’m looking forward it, personally. I know my Dynamic Duo caramel cousin, Movie Night, is a little nervous about it because she’s not sure how people will react to popcorn flavored ice cream.

THD: What do you tell her to help her get over her nervousness?

CCC: I just told her to relax and enjoy the ride. Everyone loves ice cream and everyone loves popcorn, so why wouldn’t people love popcorn flavored ice cream?

THD: It sounds like you’ve sort of taken a lead role as sort of a big brother in the Dynamic Duos family.

CCC (laughs): I don’t know. I just try to go with the flow and make people happy.

THD: It looks like you’re already doing a great job at that. Thanks again for meeting with us.

CCC: No problem! By the way, I’m still kind of new to this place. How do I get back to the warehouse?

THD: Down the hall, take a left and go though the double doors.

CCC: Of course. Thanks!

I am so looking forward for this ice cream duo: caramel flavored ice cream with chocolate-covered cone pieces and the other half is vanilla ice cream with a creamy caramel swirl. and when I get it, the rest of the family will have to do something wonderful for me to taste it.

The coffee/fudge ripple idea gets my vote! I love mocha anything.

Carmel Duo is the best, but Box of Chocolates pulls a close second. I truly believe these two flavors should be an everyday available item in the freezer section of our grocery store, not just a yearly come back. Keep up the fantastic job.

That was a cute interview. I enjoyed it

Great flavor.

Just last week I came across your
limited edition flavor “Box of Chocolates”. It is delicious. I vote
to make it a permanent flavor.

Whoever came up with this idea deserves a BIG pay raise. G-R-E-A-T idea! How about a poll of which flavors we would like to see as Duos. Will the Gertrude Hawk Box OF Chocolates be back this Valentine’s Day?

Darlene wrote:

I cant wait to try it!

Carol C wrote:

Cute Article! I can’t wait to try this one. Got the PB Explosion, and it was gone before I even got a second bowl! (I’ve gotta learn how to hide this stuff!) Caramel is next on my list.

Cheryl S wrote:

I can’t wait to try this–my husband loves vanilla and I love chocolate–now we can share even more if they make this combination in the Dynamic Duos!

Saw all your “dynamic” flavors. Have to try them all—especially since they are all made with light ice cream!!!

Sarah wrote:

As Rachel Ray would sum it up in one word, YUMMO! When are you going to do a story about the special flavors, like B-rocky Road, you created for the big PA party during the inagural week in Washington?

peg wrote:

I have to look for this one. Caramel is one of my favorite flavorings of all times.

Peg wrote:

Ummmmmmm, caramel! Even though I have lived in PA for four decades, I still pronounce it with 3 syllables.

Nancy N wrote:

Can’t wait to try this one!

Tianna wrote:

I actually saw this flavour in Shoprite yesterday. There were only a few but by the time I made up my mind to get it. Thay were gone. I did get a pint of TastyKake Peanut Butter Kandy Kake. Ate the whole thing. Plus I got peanut butter and chocolate 500 ml. Everything tasted fine. So boohoo to the nay sayers.

Sounds like an interesting flavor.

Deb wrote:

This is what I’ve been waiting for — for years we always had vanilla and chocolate in one container, but never any of the “coveted” flavors together. This is gonna be BIG! Can’t wait to go to the store!

Bob Kessler Jr wrote:

It must be quite a decision for what two flavors should be in a package. Complimentary flavors is a good idea. You have Duetto why not Duo??

brenda wrote:

Hi Turkey Hill fans and family, I have been waiting for this ice cream for a long, long time. You have two flavor. I can’t waite to buy it. NOw I have to see if Giant or Shopper have it. If not I am going to ask to whY Turkey Hill YOu are #1 in my famly.

mary frey wrote:

that is really a good idea, two different flavors in one container

Jeffrey Hersh wrote:

How about a duo of low fat coffee and low fat vanilla fudge ripple. I remember ordering those as a combo from Baskin Robbins years ago (of course then I didn’t worry about low fat).

Dani wrote:

What a cute article! This is definitely a flavor I’m interested to try. The popcorn one…. we’ll see. ;)

Caroline wrote:

The 2 flavors in the tub got my hubby wondering. He thought the old Van-Choc-Straw in the brick was done by merging the 3 together on the production line and then wrapping the carton around it. That can’t be done in a tub or there would be a lot of waste ice cream. So he wants to know how you get more than one flavor in the tub and not mix them up where they abut each other. Now thinking of that you can run a series of blogs on how the production is done.

Alicelynn,

I will be available wherever Turkey Hill products are sold. If you can’t find me (or my Duo cousins), just ask your frozen foods manager to stock me!

Thanks,
Caramel Cone Chaos

OMG< wait till my mother sees this! When she was expecting me she told me she ate a half gallon of butterscotch ice cream every night, following the swirl with her spoon till she ate the whole thing – I can see this being gone in no time! I hope it will be in Wilmington soon!
