Turkey Hill’s newest line of ice cream flavors, Dynamic Duos, features two different but complimentary ice cream flavors packed into the same container. To introduce you the Duos, we sat down for a series of unprecedented one-on-one interviews with each new addition. Our final interview took place late on a Friday with Movie Night, whose popcorn flavored half makes her arguably the most unusual of the Dynamic Duos flavors.
TURKEY HILL DAIRY: So, popcorn flavored ice cream. No one would have been able to predict that 10 years ago.
MN: Certainly not, but then again who could have predicted Sylvester Stallone would make another Rocky movie and another Rambo sequel?
THD: True. On one half you’re vanilla ice cream with a creamy caramel swirl – a pretty normal sounding combination. But on the other half, you’re popcorn flavored ice cream packed with candy-coated popcorn pieces and praline peanuts. Caramel Cone Chaos said you were a little nervous about whether America is ready for a popcorn flavored ice cream.
MN: In the beginning I was nervous, but after talking to Party Cake and Phillies Graham Slam I felt more comfortable with my status as an unusual flavor. They’re both non-traditional flavors yet they’re extremely popular. That was really inspiring for me.
THD: Yeah, you’ve got nothing to worry about. The focus groups all loved you and in taste tests, you were voted “Most likely to be eaten in one night.” Sounds like you’ll be a hit at slumber parties.
MN (laughs): Well, that’s an honor! I just hope if they eat me in one night, they hurry out to buy more of me. I’m just as good the second or third time around as I am the first time. Sort of like watching your favorite movie…you appreciate it more each time.
THD: Speaking of films, we feel like we should ask you: What’s your favorite movie?
MN: Wow. I have to choose one? I really like family comedies and anything with animals in it. I’m a big fan of pretty much anything that comes out of the Disney Pixar studios. Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Cars. They’re all great. Of course, a scary movie is good now and then. But not too late at night, or else I can’t sleep.
THD: On the subject of toppings, what do you put on popcorn ice cream? Would chocolate fudge or sprinkles be good on you?
MN: We actually talked about that in the focus groups. Some people thought chocolate and popcorn wouldn’t mix, but a lot of people actually liked the combination. Truth is, I don’t really require a lot of extra toppings, but I guess if you were going to put something on me, you can take a cue from my more traditional half and try some caramel syrup.
THD: Sounds good to us! Well, it’s getting late, we should probably let you go. You got anything else planned tonight?
MN: Of course. I’m getting together with Butter Pecan and Rainbow Sherbet to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Ernie said it’ll give us a whole new appreciation for life here at the Dairy.
THD: So who at Turkey Hill would be Willy Wonka?
MN: Ernie, of course. But don’t tell him I said that. I’m not sure if that’s a compliment.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
Think I could sneak some into the movie house?
OK, out of curiosity I’ll try the popcorn, but no promises. How about chamomile ice cream for those of us with sleeping problems (it’s 4 a.m.)!
Something for pain would be nice too!!
I have actually had chocolate drizzled popcorn and it’s really good. Chocolate goes with anything.
Wow this sounds so good, my favorite flavors all together. Thanks Turkey Hill, it sounds delicious!
I don’t know-I guess I like my ice creams without a lot of added stuff-would be interested in trying it though
I’ve tryed the Dynamic duo it’s delious I’ll buy it again.
Good Morning to all Turkey Hill fans,
Turkey Hill duet Popcorn ice Cream sound good, with the other sie with vanill ice cream. I am going to see if my store has yet so I can check it out. I love popcorn and vanilla. I will let you know how it taste.
not so sure about this one to be honest
I don’t know about this flavor, but I will give it a try and get back to you.
interesting….
Sounds good! I’m going to try it as soon as I find it!
What will you think of next???
Oh my gosh! Incredible combination! I would probably try it.
I’m not sure I’ll buy this one–I didn’t like Jelly Belly popcorn jelly beans–it’s not a flavor I crave when I think of Ice Cream–Ice Cream? Did someone say ice cream?
I will definitely try this. I love all different flavors and this sounds yummy.
The interviews are so entertaining and I’m sorry this is the final one. I think you should interview all your flavors to see what they have to say.
Somebody is really creative. I will sure give it a try!
Nope!
Popcorn flavored ice cream! Would it taste salty and sweet at the same time? The popcorn pieces would probably be crunchy instead of soft because of the coldness of the ice cream. My curiosity is getting the best of me and now I have to try this unusual duo.
I would suggest toffee bits as a topping for popcorn ice cream.
I tried root beer and vanilla, it’s ok. That’s the only flavor in our store. I love all duettos, especially coconut and chocolate. Will try to find and try the weird flavors being put out. Please just stay to ICE CREAM .
I’m looking forward to trying them all!!!
sounds good
THE POPCORN FLAVORED ICE CREAM SOUNDS REALLY “NIFTY” AND I’VE HAD CHOCOLATE ON POPCORN “YUM,YUM”. MY SYRUP OF CHOICE WOULD BE CARMEL, BANANNA, MARSHMALLO, (MAYBE EVEN CHERRY), AND WELL I EXPECT ALMOST ANYTHING WILL DO! BUT I HAVE TO SAY I THOUGHT THE “PARTY CAKE” ICE CREAM WAS RATHER “DULL” [MAYBE BUBBLE GUM WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER].
My choice would be carmel! What a great idea! Cannot wait to find it!
I love any kind of flavors and will surely get this one. Turkey Hill, keep them coming. Linda
going to turkey hill sore right now
These two flavors sound so good–can’t wait to try them.
I am so glad that the nearest TH to me is only 1 mile away! I can easily walk there, buy the ice cream, and by the time I get back home it would be just the right softness to dig into! My only problem is which flavor do I eat first? I think the popcorn flavor sounds good, I have to see if I can find it!
I can’t wait to try the new flavors. I love popcorn so I am sure I will love the popcorn flavored ice cream. Keep the good things coming Turkey Hill!
I wasn’t going to try it since it sounds yucky BUT my sister bought it and told me your Popcorn ice cream is better than the popcorn at the movies. She now has a problem choosing that or the box of chocolate
Popcorn in ice cream does sound strange, but I have had several varieties of gourmet popcorn with added flavors as well as chocolate covered popcorn and they were all delicious. Popcorn flavored Jelly Bellys are also one of my favorites. I think I’m going to love this new TH combo.
this was a very “sweet” way to introduce a flavorful ice cream. when my ice cream starts a conversation, it usually is just calling my name so I can have some more
Ok — that’s next. I saw it in the store tonite, but hesitated (not sure about the buttery popcorn in ice cream) and got the coconut instead. Think I’ll go back tomorrow and pick it up!
My diabetic husband would be thrilled with popcorn flavored ice cream if it was sugar free! I’m searching high and low for a carton of Box of Chocolates.
Yea Turkey Hill. Got the 2 new flavors of the Duo’s, I love the popcorn one as well as the other. Keep the flavors coming. Linda
I’ll try any flavor!
WOOOOOW……POPCORN ICE CREAM AND A GOOD MOVIE……I THICK I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN! (I HOPE)
