WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH EAT ICE CREAM

Posted by: Turkey Hill Team

There’s a reason ice cream is considered a comfort food. You can’t eat ice cream while you’re mad. Go ahead, try it. It’s like trying to sneeze with your eyes open. Impossible. It works for sadness too. In movies and TV we always see jilted lovers healing their post break-up wounds while curled up on the couch with a big carton of ice cream. Something about that double fudge swirl just makes everything better. It’s a proven fact.

Ice cream even helped our nation through the Great Depression. One soothing flavor – Rocky Road – was named after the bumpy times many Americans were facing and quickly became a national favorite. And though we’re not facing a depression today, we still see proof of the healing powers of ice cream when we take a look at some of our local ice cream shops. Even in the midst of a sour economy, people are still lining up for a scoop or two of their favorite flavor.

Yes, business is booming for scoop shops, because no matter how many points the Dow is down or how bad the housing market is, ice cream always tastes good. And for those 10 minutes while you’re enjoying that frosty treat, nothing else matters.

I love Turkey Hill ice cream! My favorite flavor unfortunately lost recently-Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup. I wish that there was a No Sugar Added Neopolitan flavor.I hope that Moose Tracks wins over Vanilla Bean. :-)

Can’t go wrong with ice cream. Light Recipe Moose Tracks is still in the lead. Will Vanilla Bean make a comeback?

I have always had a sweet tooth and if I ever got diabetes, I would miss some of your ice cream the most!!!

Vanilla Bean has always been my favorite. When things get stressful, I agree that ice cream and a spoon come in handy. It kind of reminds me of an episode of Friends or the old show Golden Girls with their cheesecake.

Linda Leffler wrote:

Being a caregiver to my older brother puts me under alot of stress. Thank God he loves to eat ice cream (Turkey Hill), so whenever he wants ice cream I have it too. It doesn’t cure the stress, but it sure tastes great and keep him and myself calm while eating it, and we eat it often. Linda

I just love the sweet, creamery, easy to eat taste of Turkey Hill ice cream–the Vanilla Bean is my favorite–It goes so well with apple pie, especially when the pie is warmed up–the vanilla bean just melts and blends in with all the flavors–America does love apple pie and ice cream, especially Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean–Its the one for me!!!

Mary wrote:

Ice cream is a get away in a bowl. It always reminds me of summer or the last time I enjoyed a treat with a friend.

Amen, Ellen! You hit the nail on the head! Go Moose Tracks!!!
Now we just have to hope that the milk price for the farmers doesn’t go so low that it creates a milk shortage. I guess all the fluid milk and cream would have to get funneled into ice cream production. Then we all would have a great excuse to have ice cream with cereal for breakfast!

Ice Cream is a pleasant food. It’s not harsh, tough, hard to swallow, chewable or bad tasting. It’s flavorful, easy going down your throat, enjoyable and can be eaten as a dessert or a snack. And when you have the name of “Turkey Hill” on it there’s nothing better.

Dani wrote:

It’s true! There’s nothing better at the end of a hard, stressful day than to have it melt away in my ice cream bowl… yum!

Ellen wrote:

Nothing makes you feel better than ice cream especially Turkey Hill Ice Cream. The price has been lowered and Light Recipe Moose Tracks is still in the lead over Vanilla Bean. What could be better?

Using that theory parents of teenages should be the biggest eaters of ice cream and grandparents the smallest. Somehow I must be the one who proves the hreoy by being the one to break the rule. I am a grandma and love to curl up with my tub of TH.

Sarah wrote:

Wow, it’s hard for me to see Light Moose Tracks beating vanilla. I like LMT and buy it often but it not nearly as good as vanilla with a slice of cherry or apple pie.

Edie wrote:

Ice cream and especially TH tastes great, but curing depression I don’t think even TH can do that.

Margaret M wrote:

Thank you, Turkey Hill, for helping the economy by lowering your prices. You certainly are one of a kind!
Ice cream has always been a favorite of mine, in good times and bad times! Didn’t realize how Rocky Road got its name…..interesting. It’s right up there with my favorites, Moose Tracks and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.

Wow, am I disappointed in this years voting pool. Two very boring flavors. What was everyone thinking? I guess I have to go with vanilla bean. At least you can add great toppings to it!

Susan Johnson wrote:

Light Moose Tracks is good…but Coconut Cream Pie is my absolute favorite. Since it only comes out once a year…we bought 15 half gallons and put them in our downstairs freezer. This will at least let us have it once a month until it comes back again.

If I were down to my last ten dollars – I’d buy a bag of dog food for Rocky and a bag of cat food for Gizzy (hope I had coupons) and an ice cream cone for me. Of course if I had a Turkey Hill coupon and the store was running a sale, why then I could buy a carton and I’d be good for almost a week!

As we celebrate this hoilday weekend, this is a reminder that the simple pleasures in life are often the ones we take for granted. Ice cream is usually close by, you don’t have to travel far for it, it is affordable to almost all even on a lean budget, plus who do you know that doesn’t like ice cream. Hope all have a wonderful, safe, and happy holiday, and a bowl of Turkey Hill.

I have to agree. My mother-in-law, a very wise woman, once said to me: “Whenever I feel really down, I treat myself to an ice cream soda. It always makes life look better.”
