MOOSE TRACKS UPSETS VANILLA TO WIN ULTIMATE FLAVOR TOURNAMENT!
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
In the history of sports, there have been only a few upsets of truly unimaginable proportion. Team USA over the Soviet Union in the 1980 “Miracle on Ice.” Joe Namath leading the Jets to a stunning win over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. Buster Douglas outpunching Mike Tyson to shock the boxing world in 1990.
And today, Light Recipe Moose Tracks joins that list of legendary underdogs with an amazing win over defending champion Vanilla Bean in the second annual Turkey Hill Ultimate Flavor Tournament.
It’s no doubt that the win is among the greatest ever, but some might argue that what Moose Tracks accomplished over the last seven days qualifies as perhaps the greatest upset in history. That distinction is granted not just because Light Recipe Moose Tracks – a 40-to-1 underdog entering the tournament – beat the number one flavor in the nation, but because of the incredible margin by which that victory was achieved. After more than 1,600 votes were cast by ice cream lovers across the nation, Light Recipe Moose Tracks handed Vanilla Bean a meltdown of epic proportions by grabbing a whopping 63 percent of the votes. Just minutes after the polls opened, Moose Tracks jumped out to a 12 to 1 lead and, by the end of the first day, everyone knew they were witnessing history in the making.
The win is truly legendary for other reasons, too. Vanilla Bean – the top-selling flavor in the nation, “the flavor that goes with everything” – wasn’t just beaten by any old ice cream, it was beaten by a light ice cream. Yes, the victory is an historic moment in ice cream history and signals a new era for light ice cream flavors worldwide. The defeat of the world’s greatest ice cream flavor by Light Recipe Moose Tracks has put light flavors on an equal freezer shelf with their regular peers. Equal in taste. Equal in quality. And now, finally, equal in the eyes of ice cream lovers worldwide.

April 14th, 2009 at 5:35 pmIs the win % close enough to have a recount? I think there were some loose chads that didn’t get counted somewhere….

On another track – I tasted Turkey Hill’s peach iced tea today for the first time (due to the fact that our store just got it in). Puh-lease, keep it coming! Even better, can you send in some diet peach?

April 14th, 2009 at 12:51 pmHi Turkey hill fans, I have been sick with a very bad cold. I am back now. I like this moose ice cream, but I really love the Chocolate box Ice cream or the best vanilla Tureky hill ice cream. Now since I am well. I can buy me some turkey hill ice cream.,

April 14th, 2009 at 12:07 pmWay to go, Moose Tracks! I’ll have some tonight to celebrate this historic win!
April 14th, 2009 at 9:56 amIts about time the voters realized Vanilla makes a great base for sundaes and other flavor ice creams, but by itself it is very bland to our taste buds. The early popular mixture was vanilla fudge which gave the sundae flavor minus the whipped cream, then came rocky road followed by many other mixtures.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:48 amMy house still thinks “Box of Chocolate” should have won.
I think the light ice cream had an advantage over vanilla bean with more people being health conscious or calorie counting. Not exactly fair but I will concede
April 14th, 2009 at 9:13 amAnd it makes me wonder…. how would a Light Recipe Vanilla Bean flavor have fared in this battle…. hmmmm???
April 14th, 2009 at 8:56 amVanilla lovers, we must demand an investigation, and take this to the “courts”. All we need is one of the major political parties to assign some of their lawyers and strategists to this “dessert” cause.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:52 amWait until the next election!
EVERYONE JUST LOVES MOOSE TRACKS, SO HOW COULD IT LOSE. MOOSE TRACKS IS THIS YEAR’S AMERICAN IDOL!
April 14th, 2009 at 8:51 amCan’t believe a “light” ice cream won. Maybe I will be forced to try it, but I’m not convinced.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:47 amIt was rigged! I tell ya the elections was rigged! Blame it on the hanging chads!
April 14th, 2009 at 8:36 amWho are these people that voted for moose tracks?
April 14th, 2009 at 8:33 amI KNEW YOU COULD DO IT- MOOSE TRACKS- YEAH!!!!!

April 14th, 2009 at 7:55 amI am very happy that my favorite won the tournament but I’m not surprised. It’s so good, it’s hard to believe that it’s “light”. It tastes full-flavored and not artificial. Hooray for Moose Tracks!!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:41 amI believe it shows that everyone is looking for a “healthier” ice cream and so the light ice cream is not a surprise. Plus Moose Tracks is fantastic!

April 14th, 2009 at 7:30 amMoose Tracks all the way around the track!!!! What a celebration:) Vanilla Bean is still a good one but hooray for the goop!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:25 amYes, the fact that a “light” ice cream won is interesting. Does this mean Turkey Hill will soon be offering new “light” versions? Hope so!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:13 amHonestly, I’m a big vanilla fan. But my husband loves chocolate. We both enjoy light Moose Tracks though. It’s a great taste. Keep up the good work!
