This Saturday, May 2, Turkey Hill will be hosting its 10th annual Country Classic at the Central Manor Church of God in Washington Boro, right here in Lancaster, PA. If you’re printing directions via MapQuest, the address is 387 Penn Street, Manor Township in Lancaster.
The Central Manor Church is nestled in one of the most picturesque corners of Lancaster County, so if you’ve been thinking about making a trip to our neck of the woods, this is a great time to do it!
The Country Classic features sporting events for runners and cyclists, but it also includes lots of fun and games for the whole family. There will be free kids rides, games, costumed characters, music and, of course, the baby derby (featuring the fastest babies around!). And if you haven’t registered for the races (baby, child or adult), don’t worry…you can still sign up on the day of the event, beginning at 7 am Saturday morning.
Turkey Hill’s very own Giant Cow will also make an appearance along with plenty of Turkey Hill ice cream and drinks, Herr’s chips and Hatfield hot dogs. All the ice cream, snacks and drinks will be available by donation with all proceeds benefiting the Lancaster Farmland Trust. The Lancaster Farmland Trust is an organization Turkey Hill is very passionate about because they work hard to preserve beautiful farmland throughout Lancaster County.
More information about the Country Classic can be found on our website. Hope to see you there!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
I’d love to attend. Unfortunately, the timing is just not right for me this weekend. It’s Kentucky Derby Saturday, which has been a tradition in my family for many years.
would love to, alas i have other plans and no money for gas. all my money is saved for ice cream
Interesting dilemma, Linda! Gas or ice cream? We could argue that one all day!
I hope you make lots and lots of money for preserving farmland.
Wish I could attend, I will mark this on my calendar for next year. This sounds like a great family event and we get to sample the best products made in the area !
We will have to pass on it. Yesterday we were in the area at Hershey. If we had dry ice we would have stopped at the Turkey Hill stores for flavors we don’t see locally since you had big sale signs out for the TH @ 2 for $6. That might be an idea to carry dry ice in the stores so out of area people can buy the TH.
Oh, I wish I had known sooner! But I already have plans for Saturday… what better way to finish up a good 5K run than with a bowl of Turkey Hill ice cream in the shade of the Giant Cow!
I live in Hazlet NJ. Will there be any festivals near me in the near future. I would love to bring my granddaughters. It sounds like so much fun.
I will be in Lancaster this summer. We always go for a weekend and never miss Miller’s and Turkey Hill!! The farmland is beautiful!! Good luck!
maybe I be in area someday
Friends are going there today the first of May, I have to let them know about the event. Thanks
This sounds like a great time and hopefully the weather will cooperate. I will have to see how far this location is from my home in Maryland. I would travel 100 miles to be able to enjoy some Turkey Hill ice cream.
I wish I could come, but my brother is sick and needs me. I am his caregiver. I will tell you that I will certainly have TH ice cream on Sat. but then I have it every day. My freezer is always stocked with TH. Linda
Sorry already have plans-lots of luck in your endeavor!
Sounds like fun, and I hope the rain that is heading in this direction will have passed you by on Saturday.
Sounds great! Wish I could be there.
other plans maybe next time
Wish I had had notice a little earlier. Sounds like it could be a really fun day.
