Sure, you could just buy ice cream cones from the grocery store (something we don’t do often enough), but you can also make ice cream cones at home! Because we all know, when it’s homemade, it just tastes better. Usually, at least.
Now you can make your own cones with the Chef’s Choice 838 Waffle Cone Express Ice Cream Cone Maker. It’s kind of like a waffle iron, except it can be used to make sugar cones “in about two minutes.” It even comes with a cone rolling form and recipes. What a great giveaway! Last night I ate a big dish of the Chocolate Peanutbutter–it was yummy and had lots of peanut butter. My husband had the Black Cherry and it was loaded with cherries! Wow, what great ice creams you make. Sugar cones are my favorite and I would sure love this.

I believe that is how the ice cream cone began. At the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904 ice cream vendors put ice cream in another vendor’s wrapped up waffle. It was a hit and the ice cream cone evolved. How technology has advanced! Now we have a special ice cream cone maker. Home made cones and Turkey Hill ice cream would make anyone’s day.

Well my grandson and I were just looking over my emails when we came upon this waffle cone maker. He asked me what that was and I told him and he said can we get that for Mommy for Mother’s Day because she is always making something special for us and now we can give her something special, can we? Waffle cones, waffle bowls? All I know is that without Turkey Hill in them, they never seem to be worth eating. Of course, with a waffle cone my favorite part, since I was a child, is to bite off the tip and suck out the remaining ice cream my mouth can’t get to from above and then eat the cone. Years ago I worked at an icecream store. Everyone told me I would be so sick of icecream. Not so. I had a banana split Saturday night – 2 on Sunday – and another on Monday night. Turkey Hill icecream of course! I wouldn’t have to dirty a bowl if I won this super prize. BTW – now that light moose tracks has won – I can’t seem to catch it in stock at my local supermarket. Maybe it was better before everyone knew how good it was!

I do not go to icecream parlors very often as they do not sell turkey hill ice cream and it is about the only type I eat. Once in a great while I will get dairy queen soft serve but mostly I buy the turkey hill in the store and it is much better and I can eat as much as I want then.

We stopped for ice cream last week and the ice cream parlor was completely out of waffle cones. They had waffle bowls but ran out half-way into our order for 6. Two of us had to share the same bowl. How disappointing. Making our own cones would sure keep that from happening again!

I have been an ice creamaholic since I was a small child. The cone maker is very cool and it would be the perfect pairing with either the Southern Lemon Pie or Mocha ice cream that I love. I am such a nut when it comes to ice cream, that my neighbor allows me to store extra cartons of ice cream in her large basement freezer when I have run out of space in mine!!!!
