RECIPE: ICE CREAM SNOWBALLS
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
Snowballs in June? Why not! These are fun to make and probably the easiest recipe we’ve ever featured here on the Ice Cream Journal. Ready? Here it is:
DIRECTIONS
1. Scoop 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls of ice cream, using your favorite flavor
2. Roll ice cream ball in your choice of topping, place in a mini-muffin wrapper and place in freezer.
That’s it! Easy, right? Feel free to use any of the following toppings to roll your ice cream balls in. If anyone has any other ideas for toppings, let us know with a comment.
- Crushed cereal (Fruity Pebbles or Fruit Loops make a colorful snowball)
- Mini-chocolate chips
- Chopped walnuts, peanuts or any other kind of nuts
- Shredded coconut
- Sprinkles (aka “jimmies”)
- Crushed candies (toffee bars and Butterfinger bars are good)
- Brown sugar
- Shredded white chocolate
- Melted chocolate

I love Turkey Hill Ice Cream, especially vanilla. I use it to make my Pina Colada Semifreddo
July 27th, 2009 at 12:10 pmI would like to see a “No Sugar Added” Neopolitan variety of Turkey Hill ice cream. I believe that many people would buy it since our society is trying to be more health conscious – watching fat, calories, carbs and sugar intakes. My favorite flavor is Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup!
July 6th, 2009 at 9:40 amI wish you could put flavor in without the pecans in butter pecan.

June 19th, 2009 at 1:50 pmI have made these! They are always a hit at parties! Be careful though, you can eat way more than a ’suggested serving size’ because they are that good!
June 19th, 2009 at 1:31 pmThis is a great idea. You could make the ice cream balls any size you wanted. I wonder if you coated the ice cream with melted chocolate and froze it would it turn out to be like a piece of candy when the chocolate got hard. The only way to find out is do it. That’s my task for tonight.
June 19th, 2009 at 12:41 pmthis sounds so delicious and easy, I really like the idea of the crushed colorful cereal
June 19th, 2009 at 12:33 pmwith the weather we’ve had lately,we could have REAL snowballs.
June 19th, 2009 at 8:14 amThanks for the recipe…I have not tried ice cream balls but hopefully will try it soon. All the toppings sound delicious….I used to get fried ice cream when we lived in Atlanta but then again it wasn’t Turkey Hill ice cream. Just bought my daughter Chocolate Peanut Butter but, of course, I had to try it and now I am hooked! Thanks Turkey Hill.
June 19th, 2009 at 8:00 amI like to make the ice cream balls when I got company for dinner. They are a nice dessert after a meal, so pretty. The party cakes are delicious, little pricey, but worth it. Linda
June 19th, 2009 at 7:37 amHi, My topping for making the ice cream balls – bake a cake of your choice to compliment the flavor of your ice cream. Chocolate with vanilla, etc. When the cake has cooked shred it with a fork and roll the ice cream balls in it. Freeze. Serve with hot fudge, hot carmel, etc. Very good.
June 19th, 2009 at 7:31 amSo so pretty. Tint that coconut first, and roll, baby, roll!
June 19th, 2009 at 7:10 amtoo much work-just eat that great ice cream out of the carton-unless someone wants to make it for me? Brenda’s idea sounds extra yummy-maybe Turkey Hill should package those….
June 19th, 2009 at 7:04 amHi Turkey Hill fans,
June 19th, 2009 at 5:53 amI have a recipe what that one too, but I rolls my ice cream balls into cookies crumbs, then dip them in ice cream topping or sauce, them roll them into cookies cumbs again and freeze them. I make my ice crams from large to tiny ice cream balls.
Seems like a party food that would have to be served right away. Kids wouldnt appreciate it. Adults might, but if it was at a barbecue, would probably melt before served.
June 19th, 2009 at 5:41 amI’m going through ice cream…jus bought 2 gallons recently at the Turkey Hill Convenience Store on Hershey Avenue, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Got my favoriate, chocolate, and then, my second favorite, Vanilla, but only cuz I also bought Hershey’s Hot Fudge syrup to pour over it?
Right now, that’s sort of all that’s in my freezer, I threw food out while ago?
Can’t wait till I get hungry for it? I’m ready to enjoy ice cream! Got a small pizza today? From “Metro” pizza? I like pizza n ice cream parties, I guess? Sometimes? Thanks for illuminating my world. I love to look over all the different types of ice cream available, I did purchase that Party Cake, or whatever, flavor, but then, never got to try it, cuz I threw all the food in my freezer out weeks ago? Will prolly get it again and try again in future?
Guess what! I think I found my ice cream sundae glasses, were in the basement? I forget what I did with them now, maybe I put them in my kitchen cabinet? If my 11-year old son ever visits me again, maybe I can at least make him a good hot fudge sundae
Nutty…I don’t really like peanus though, sort of…like peanut butter?
Oh well, thanks for always being here. I told Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI in a handwritten letter sent to the Vatican that I really wanna purchase Turkey Hill stock? Don’t know when I’ll get around to askin ya’s if you trade publicly?
Whatever
?
Love you guys! Thanks for the recipe, maybe I’ll get a chance to make them someday, even if I’m 70, by the time I get around to it? Still good to know, love recipes?
Oh well, thank you!
Carolina! From Lancasta, Pennsylvania, America, as always!
