For years my family had our own version of snowballs for holiday dessert. I was told the recipe was copied from a dessert at Ben & Mildred’s Chicken House Restaurant in Middleboro, Mass. It’s an easy simply delicious recipe, so I will share. Bake a chocolate cake, let cool, crumble. Scoop vanilla ice cream balls, then roll ice cream ball in the chocolate cake crumbs, making sure to press the cake into the ice cream, so it won’t fall off. Place cake covered ice cream balls in individual dishes. Pour Hersey’s chocolate syrup over then cake encrusted ice cream balls, top with whipped cream, (my family always used homemade, though when I grew up, I made them with canned whipped cream) and then splash on top of whipped cream with a bit more chocolate syrup. I swear that last splash of syrup is very necessary, don’t know why but it enhances the flavor. This dessert is out of this world delicious! Anyone who tries it, I say Enjoy!

I would like to see a “No Sugar Added” Neopolitan variety of Turkey Hill ice cream. I believe that many people would buy it since our society is trying to be more health conscious – watching fat,calories, carbs and sugar intakes. My favorite flavor is Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup!

With 4 grandkids ages 2 to 8, I know we’ll be making the snowballs. They will love eating it and making them.
I think we’ll try chocolate and vanilla bean and use sprinkles for the outside. Sounds so good…HSING

I like to put a good amount of Icecrean in between two cookies of your choice and roll them in sprinkles or choclate chips. I make my own flying saucers. Delicious.

I have made these! They are always a hit at parties! Be careful though, you can eat way more than a ‘suggested serving size’ because they are that good!

This is a great idea. You could make the ice cream balls any size you wanted. I wonder if you coated the ice cream with melted chocolate and froze it would it turn out to be like a piece of candy when the chocolate got hard. The only way to find out is do it. That’s my task for tonight.

Thanks for the recipe…I have not tried ice cream balls but hopefully will try it soon. All the toppings sound delicious….I used to get fried ice cream when we lived in Atlanta but then again it wasn’t Turkey Hill ice cream. Just bought my daughter Chocolate Peanut Butter but, of course, I had to try it and now I am hooked! Thanks Turkey Hill.

I like to make the ice cream balls when I got company for dinner. They are a nice dessert after a meal, so pretty. The party cakes are delicious, little pricey, but worth it. Linda

Hi, My topping for making the ice cream balls – bake a cake of your choice to compliment the flavor of your ice cream. Chocolate with vanilla, etc. When the cake has cooked shred it with a fork and roll the ice cream balls in it. Freeze. Serve with hot fudge, hot carmel, etc. Very good.

Hi Turkey Hill fans,
I have a recipe what that one too, but I rolls my ice cream balls into cookies crumbs, then dip them in ice cream topping or sauce, them roll them into cookies cumbs again and freeze them. I make my ice crams from large to tiny ice cream balls.

Seems like a party food that would have to be served right away. Kids wouldnt appreciate it. Adults might, but if it was at a barbecue, would probably melt before served.

I’m going through ice cream…jus bought 2 gallons recently at the Turkey Hill Convenience Store on Hershey Avenue, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania Got my favoriate, chocolate, and then, my second favorite, Vanilla, but only cuz I also bought Hershey’s Hot Fudge syrup to pour over it?

Right now, that’s sort of all that’s in my freezer, I threw food out while ago?

Can’t wait till I get hungry for it? I’m ready to enjoy ice cream! Got a small pizza today? From “Metro” pizza? I like pizza n ice cream parties, I guess? Sometimes? Thanks for illuminating my world. I love to look over all the different types of ice cream available, I did purchase that Party Cake, or whatever, flavor, but then, never got to try it, cuz I threw all the food in my freezer out weeks ago? Will prolly get it again and try again in future?

Guess what! I think I found my ice cream sundae glasses, were in the basement? I forget what I did with them now, maybe I put them in my kitchen cabinet? If my 11-year old son ever visits me again, maybe I can at least make him a good hot fudge sundae
