FEATURED PHOTO: PEPSI ICE CREAM?
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team

No, this isn’t Photoshop magic, it’s a real Pepsi product. Before you get too excited, I should tell you that this product is only available in Russia. But it’s also sort of available in the U.S. That’s because “Pepsi Ice Cream” is really the Russian version of “Pepsi Vanilla.” Same recipe, different name! Actually, you can’t get Pepsi Vanilla any more. It’s been discontinued. But you can still purchase its similar-tasting rival, Vanilla Coke.
For the record, Pepsi makes all sorts of interesting flavors only available in other countries. Check out the whole list here, including Pepsi Ice Cucumber (a Japanese version with cucumber flavoring), Pepsi Fire (cinnamon flavored Pepsi sold in Mexico, Thailand and other Asian countries) and Pepsi Blue Hawaii (a pineapple and lemon flavored variety sold in Japan and blue in color).
Speaking of overseas, Turkey Hill Dairy and Turkey Hill Minit Market’s “Operation Hometown Hello” is going very well. In just two weeks, we’ve collected more than 750 pounds of donations (75 boxes) to be shipped to the troops serving overseas. Look for the Operation Hometown Hello box at one of 250 Turkey Hill Minit Markets throughout eastern, central and southern Pennsylvania and make a donation. It’s a shame we can’t send the troops some Pepsi Ice Cream!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

When I was a kid, 50 years ago, the local soda fountain would serve Chocolate Coke.
July 28th, 2009 at 8:43 amThey mixed Coke Syrup with Chocolate Syrup. Delicious!
Hey! How about Chocolate Coke Ice Cream.
Root Beer Float is great. We also love (and can never find) “Purple Cow” which is grape juice with vanilla ice cream. I used to make my own when I made grape jelly and had the leftovers which we put over vanilla ice cream. The kids loved it, and still talk about it even though they now have kids of their own.
July 27th, 2009 at 12:51 pmKeep the heat away – have a scoop of turkey Hill everyday!
July 24th, 2009 at 2:16 pmI like Pepsi and Turkey Hill Ice Cream is awesome. What a combination of flavors.
July 22nd, 2009 at 12:12 pmWow…maybe Pepsi should have used that terminology in the US:)
July 21st, 2009 at 5:26 pmthis not up my alley, moo over for better flavors
July 17th, 2009 at 7:45 pmI think if Pepsi brought this back to the US with this name and made it ACTUAL ice cream, people would buy it. Better yet, just have Pepsi come out with their own ice cream. I think that would be interesting.
July 17th, 2009 at 4:23 pmI’d try it.
July 17th, 2009 at 6:18 amYes,I love Pepsi.Yes,I love Turkey Hill ice cream.I’m not so sure if I’d like Pepsi flavored ice cream alone.MAYBE Pepsi with vanilla ice cream.or even better yet,how about a Pepsi float………basically the same idea.
July 17th, 2009 at 6:00 amI definitely I would like Pepsi Ice cream
July 16th, 2009 at 9:40 pmI think I would like Pepsi Ice cream
July 16th, 2009 at 9:38 pmcoke does flavored sodas better
July 16th, 2009 at 4:06 pmsounds good for sure
July 16th, 2009 at 11:20 amWhen traveling overseas, it’s always interesting to visit a grocery store and check out the products that are so different from what we have at home.
This post also brought back childhood memories. At the drugstore where my mom would get her perscriptions, they would always give us coupons to enjoy a free Coke float while we waited for the perscription to be filled. I was so disappointed when they eventually did away with their lunch counter and thus, the free Coke floats.
July 16th, 2009 at 10:39 amVery interesting!!
July 16th, 2009 at 6:56 amThank you for your thoughtful “Operation Hometown Hero” program. Great idea!!
as a kid i loved pepsi so why don’t you start making pepsi ice cream and send me a half gallon or so. I believe i would love the taste.
July 16th, 2009 at 6:19 amYours in ice cream
Roger Dennis Johnson
As a kid, I loved going to the local sweet shop and ordering vanilla coke with my friends. Great nostalgia.

July 16th, 2009 at 5:00 amauthor of THE DROWNING POOL–ask for it at your local library
Ice Cream in a can, just let it melt and drink it. You can hold the Pepsi, just put the Turkey Hill Ice Cream inside.
July 16th, 2009 at 3:22 amThat was a tease!
July 15th, 2009 at 9:40 pmI like coke products better anyhow! Those different flavored pepsis from different countries do not even interest or sound appealing to me. I will just stick to eating Turkey Hill icecream at separate times than when i drink soda.
July 15th, 2009 at 9:39 pmi’m not a soda drinker….but i make up for it by eating more than my share of T.H. ice cream!
July 15th, 2009 at 9:14 pmI like both of the separately – Pepsi when I want a drink – ice cream when I want a treat!
July 15th, 2009 at 8:39 pmPepsi Ice Cream…what an interesting idea. But, I agree with a previous comment: Turkey Hill Vanilla and Pepsi would make a great float. (the sweetness of the Pepsi and the amazing creaminess and luscious taste of the Turkey Hill vanilla ice cream. It almost makes you want to run out to the store and buy some.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:28 pmA pepsi float with Turkey Hill French Vanilla Yum!
July 15th, 2009 at 8:13 pmI wouldn’t mid trying some of the different flavors of Pepsi as long as had some Turkey Hill ice cream to go with it.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:39 pmOh! It would have been to die for when I drank Pepsi all day long when I was younger! Still might be nice to try!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:25 pmMaybe TH should come up with a Pepsi-Vanilla Ice Cream Duo.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:25 pmdid not like pepsi vanilla did not taste good at all
July 15th, 2009 at 7:14 pmMaybe Turkey Hill & Hires(or A&W)should get together. They could market Root Beer Float pop and You could market Root Beer Float Ice Cream.Sounds like a winner to me!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:10 pmI have been to the World of Coca-cola in Atlanta where I got to sample coke products from different countries.
July 15th, 2009 at 6:36 pmOne word…ewwwww.
July 15th, 2009 at 5:48 pmI agree with Robin, TH’s Diet Mojito Ice Tea is the bomb!
July 15th, 2009 at 5:26 pmMakes me wonder…If you folks at Turkey Hill were to market your ice cream abroad, what “culturally influenced” flavors would you create?
July 15th, 2009 at 5:02 pmIt sounds like a float.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:43 pmThose are some weird Pepsi flavors; they do NOT appeal to me at all!
July 15th, 2009 at 4:37 pmNever was adventurous enough to try Pepsi Vanilla. I stick with tastes I know like TH ice cream. MMMMMMM still on the lookout for Peaches ‘n Cream, hope my grocer gets it before the Limited Edition is over.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:27 pmVanilla Coke is great. Try to mix coke with milk, over ice. Also nice.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:16 pmI checked out the whole list. When I saw Pepsi Mojito it reminded me of the Turkey Hill Diet Mojito Ice Tea I purchased last week. It is awesome! I only bought one because I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. I’m now addicted to it. Anyone who drinks diet tea out there, please try this.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:14 pmIt reminds me of “Laverne & Shirley,” when they’d make milk and Pepsi! I loved that when I was a kid – haven’t had it in ages!
July 15th, 2009 at 3:20 pmPepsi Vanilla was very good and I’m sorry they discontinued it. I haven’t had an ice cream float in so long, all the comments are certainly making me thirsty for one. That may be the perfect dessert for tonight!
July 15th, 2009 at 2:52 pmMy first thought was “An ice cream float in a can! How did they do that?!”
Ice cream floats are good – but ice cream without the soda is so much better!
July 15th, 2009 at 2:24 pmMy first thought was “An ice cream float in a can? How do they do that?!”
I like ice cream floats – but much prefer the ice cream without soda!
July 15th, 2009 at 2:22 pmI am a true Pepsi and Turkey Hill fan, have been making my own floats with Vanilla bean and pepsi for a long time. I also put a dab of vanilla bean in my cup of coffee….delicious!
July 15th, 2009 at 1:14 pmI’ll stick with a root beer float.
July 15th, 2009 at 12:40 pmat Penn State we have an ice cream called brown cow, which is root beer flavor ice cream and vanilla ice cream, which is delicious. I think it would delcious if Turkey Hill made this coke or pepsi (im not biased) product.
July 15th, 2009 at 12:29 pmSince you can’t send them the TH ice cream, nor the pepsi ice cream, why not send the rival. Vanilla coke? I am sure that they would enjoy that almost as much!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:15 pmI’ll take my vanilla in Turkey Hill Ice Cream please!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:14 pmI don’t even want to try it. Both root beer and Pepsi taste nasty to me. I’m a Coke Classic drinker.
July 15th, 2009 at 12:01 pmi would just as soon add TH french vanilla ice cream to my pepsi as have the pepsi that way, this way you get the best of both worlds.
July 15th, 2009 at 11:51 amIt’s not for me……
July 15th, 2009 at 11:48 amI agree, a good ice cream soda would be nice to have today!
July 15th, 2009 at 11:07 amHaven’t had an ice cream soda in a loooong time. Might be a good night for the whole family to have one or two or three, etc.
July 15th, 2009 at 10:45 amNO COKE-PEPSI!!! I own Pepsi stock & like Sue’s idea of Pepsi/Vanilla Duetto like having an ice cream soda or float in one!!! GO PEPSI!!!!
July 15th, 2009 at 10:43 amSORRY, I NEVER LIKED THE PRODUCT TO BEGIN WITH.
July 15th, 2009 at 10:01 amThis sounds positively ghastly.
July 15th, 2009 at 9:56 amif it really was ice cream I would try it but I am a Coke person and probably will stay a Coke person. new ice cream flavors are always intersting to me.
July 15th, 2009 at 9:43 amNah, just bring on the ice cream!
July 15th, 2009 at 9:35 amNot a soda fan so the idea of pepsi ice cream doesn’t really do anything for me. I love the operation hometown hero work that you do for our troops overseas! Way to go!!!
July 15th, 2009 at 9:31 amWhy do companies try to jazz up their beverages? Was their a great call for it by the public? Keep sodas simple. But keep providing us with the various selections of Turkey Hill ice cream.
July 15th, 2009 at 9:22 amI wrote a letter to Pepsi when they discontinued Pepsi Vanilla…so they sent me coupons for other Pepsi products!
July 15th, 2009 at 9:20 amGotta find the Vanilla Coke flavor…yummmmy!
July 15th, 2009 at 8:55 amVanilla colas are ok but don’t remind me of ice cream
July 15th, 2009 at 8:43 amThere is nothing better than a Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean/Pepsi float. Those two flavors just taste great together.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:37 amThanks TH and everyone who is supporting our troops…I’m a Pepsi Fan,but I had an opportunity to visit the Coco Cola Building in Atlanta and was able to taste the differnt flavors they make for different countries. Some were very good and others …I quess if you lived in that country they probably tasted good… I would like to try the Hawaii flavor and the cinnamon one also
July 15th, 2009 at 8:36 amVanilla Coke is good, but I’d rather be eating vanilla ice cream!
July 15th, 2009 at 8:35 amwhy not justmake a pepsi float? barbara
July 15th, 2009 at 8:33 amOur organization sent 1,515 bags to the troops the today! It would be great if we could send them ice cream, but we send them other goodies(we can only send chocolate in one of our 3 mailings because of the weather.)
July 15th, 2009 at 8:28 amWhat a difference it makes when you add “ice cream” to a product.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:16 amI love Pepsi, and would give that flavor a try. I do make my floats with Pepsi and I wanted to let Awilda know that pepsi vanilla is still available in the Pittsburgh area.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:15 amI don’t drink much soda, but Turkey Hill Ice Cream…….I Love !
July 15th, 2009 at 8:14 amThis was definatley a tease. I think I may just have to have an bowl of ice cream to make up for it.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:13 amNothing beats a Root Beer Float with vanilla ice cream!
July 15th, 2009 at 8:13 amThe thought of pepsi ice cream or perhaps other soda flavored ice cream sounds like an interesting idea to an ice cream lover but as a non soda drinker vanilla Pepsi doesn’t thrill me.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:12 amI’ll stick with ice cream over soda any day.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:10 amI have not had a float in a long, long time. I like my Turkey Hill straight up.
July 15th, 2009 at 8:05 amWe like to have Turkey Hill Vanilla with rootbeer. Not a big fan of Pepsi in this house.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:51 amThe soda companies must now be hiring us seniors in their marketing department. Back in the 50’s and before there were local luncheonettes and soda fountains where they would add a dab of another flavor to the cola drink like cherry or vanilla or even the 2 cent plain (seltzer). The best thing about those long gone places was what they did with ice cream which now a days are chains that have a standard boring menu.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:38 amI’m like Coke Vanilla with my Turkey Hill Ice Cream.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:28 amCola (or Rootbeer) and ice cream float, is much better than just the beverage alone.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:27 amI would try the pepsi van. ice cream. I tried Rootbeer float ice cream and it was good. I personally would have my ice cream in a dish or cone and soda on the side. Linda
July 15th, 2009 at 7:26 amSome Wawa’s have a machine now where you can go in and make your own yummy Diet Coke with Vanilla. I think I am becoming addicted to it. Add a scopp of Turkey Hill ice cream and you will become addicted too!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:25 amPepsi Vanilla was nice, but oh-so-sweet! But a Pepsi float, made with vanilla ice cream? Heaven!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:24 amInteresting product!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:18 amI loved Pepsi Vanilla…. it’s a shame they don’t have it anymore. Thank goodness for Coke Vanilla. Its perfect for a ice cream float.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:16 amIce cream and soda go together perfectly.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:15 amGlastnost with Turkey Hill; perfect together!
Thanks for the Turkey Hill coupons, too. They sure are budget stretchers.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:14 amI’m a Coke addict, and love the vanilla and cherry Coke flavors. I might try the cinnamon or blue hawaii flavors, but I’m pretty much a purist when it comes to flavoring of things.
July 15th, 2009 at 7:06 amI was never a fan of the pepsi flavored soda, cherry flavored for me!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:06 amI’m game for trying that Hawaiian version with pineapple and lemon, but the others, I’ll let someone else be the guinea pig.
July 15th, 2009 at 6:42 amI LOVE Pepsi products but none of those crazy flavors, offered in other countries, EXCEPT the Ice Cream one,,sounded appealing! Hey Ernie, how bout Pepsi/Vanilla Duetto?
July 15th, 2009 at 6:37 amSounds like an ice cream float is in order.
July 15th, 2009 at 6:14 amI prefer coke products. But I think it sounds yummy.
July 15th, 2009 at 5:26 amIsn’t that just like making a root beer float, only with Pepsi or Coke and yummy Turkey Hill Vanilla? Mmmmmm!
July 15th, 2009 at 5:14 amGood Morning Turkey Hill fan
July 15th, 2009 at 5:05 amThat is nice, but I am staying with Turkey Hill vanilla Ice cream,If I wanted Pepsi Ice cream…I will buy Turkey Hill vanilla ice cream and add my own ingredient to it.
interesting.
July 15th, 2009 at 4:50 ami prefer cream soda floats and pepsi for drinking plain
July 15th, 2009 at 4:34 amWe have already had a pepsi float, instead of using rootbeer we used Pepsi.
July 15th, 2009 at 3:49 amIt was really good try it
It’s a shame that we can’t get all the flavors of soda that are available worldwide.
July 14th, 2009 at 10:11 pmWow this Pepsi sounds amazing. I would love a Pepsi float with Turkey Hill ice cream, delicious!
July 14th, 2009 at 9:54 pmI am a Milatary Family (Ohio National Guard) and am completely blown away by Turkey Hills generousity in helping out Our Men and Women in Uniform.. I’ll continue to buy your product even if it costs more… because it means a lot that your here for Us! Great Job!
July 14th, 2009 at 9:24 pmLove Pepsi! Great work your doing for the troops wish I had a Turkey Hill store near me so I could help!
July 14th, 2009 at 7:59 pmNot a Pepsi girl, Coca-Cola is much better…haven’t had vanilla Coke though, sounds good, I like cream soda, so vanilla Coke would be good.
July 14th, 2009 at 7:45 pmInstead of cucumber substitute pickels.
July 14th, 2009 at 7:40 pmHere’s to ice cream! *takes a sip*
July 14th, 2009 at 7:20 pmBring it on!
July 14th, 2009 at 7:19 pmI rather have Coca Cola Ice Cream — much better!!!
July 14th, 2009 at 7:13 pmSome of the flavors list were not very good sounding I am more a plain Jane when it comes to my drinks I don’t even like flavoring in my coffee
July 14th, 2009 at 7:03 pmPepsi Ice Cream sounds awesome.
July 14th, 2009 at 6:43 pmI got so excited when I saw this photo and recognized the cyrillic alphabet and russian words on the top of the can. They after reading it was only found in Russia I was so ready to book a trip (especially because I took 5 years of Russian language in school!) But after reading a few lines later that it is jsut pepsi vanilla I frowned. Trip canceled! But it did give me a good idea for a dessert tonight…a delicious pepsi float with turkey hill vanilla bean ice cream = yum : )
July 14th, 2009 at 6:42 pmI like Vanilla Coke. Looks like its time to try it in a float.
July 14th, 2009 at 4:29 pmMmmm…the name Pepsi Ice Cream makes me want to have it for dessert! Now, if I could only order my favorite ice cream flavors with the drink, that would be great!
July 14th, 2009 at 4:27 pmAwww, can’t we have some of the cool flavors? What is wrong with us? Not adventurous??? That would be neat!
July 14th, 2009 at 4:08 pmThis is wild. What fun!
July 14th, 2009 at 4:05 pmi learn new things every day but i would like to no if there is any new flavs comin out???????
July 14th, 2009 at 3:52 pmOMG i was sooo excited i love pepsi and i love ice cream too so that sounded really yumm! so happy about hometown hero toooo!!!!! Good luck with it
K bye
July 14th, 2009 at 3:51 pmmmmm… I like Vanilla Coke!
July 14th, 2009 at 2:47 pmThanks for teaching me so many new things–Pepsi Ice Cream, who knew?
July 14th, 2009 at 2:39 pmI learn so much from this blog!
July 14th, 2009 at 2:36 pmOk…not fair….Russia? Sounds good.
July 14th, 2009 at 2:26 pmI’m a Pepsi girl, but cucumber… YUCK!
July 14th, 2009 at 2:13 pmI wouldn’t like ice cream flavored soda…
July 14th, 2009 at 1:56 pmsounds interesting… i thought i saw vanilla pepsi the other day.
not the same as an ice cream soda made with philly vanilla turkey hill though.
July 14th, 2009 at 1:52 pmIt did seem surprising to have ice cream in a soda can. Leave it to the Japanese to have some “interesting” flavor like cucumber!
July 14th, 2009 at 1:13 pmI’m a HUGE Pepsi fan, but there is no way I would drink anything with cucumber.
July 14th, 2009 at 1:08 pmPepsi float, like root beer floats, are great with TH vanilla! A real fun old-fashioned summer treat!
July 14th, 2009 at 1:07 pmMmmm, Pepsi Ice Cream… Guess I will have to make a trip to Russia…
July 14th, 2009 at 12:46 pmSharon, TH does have a root beer duetto. Yum yum.
July 14th, 2009 at 12:38 pmIt sounds good but I prefer Coke too!
July 14th, 2009 at 12:32 pmCoke – no Pepsi!!
July 14th, 2009 at 11:59 amGreat idea with Operation Hometown Hello. Thanks for giving the rest of us a way to show we care.
Coke – no Pepsi!!
July 14th, 2009 at 11:58 amGreat idea with your Operation Hometown Hello. Thanks for remembering our troops and giving the rest of us a way to show we care.
This makes me think Turkey Hill should try a “Coke Float” ice cream — someone already tried a Root Beer Float flavor and I bet Coke Float would be a hit!
July 14th, 2009 at 11:46 amA real ice cream float is much better than fake flavoring in soda any day.
July 14th, 2009 at 10:58 amPineapple and lemon Pepsi does not sound good, bu Pepsi ice cream sounds interesting
July 14th, 2009 at 10:55 amSo Pepsi Ice Cream is the same as Pepsi Vanilla….hmmm, I’ll have to get the lowdown on that from our Russian daughter-in-law. I love Vanilla Pepsi – no wonder I haven’t seen it lately; didn’t know they stopped making it. It was great to make sodas with TH Vanilla ice cream. Now I’ll have to resort to buying Vanilla Coke.
July 14th, 2009 at 10:48 amI’d rather a root beer ice cream drink. Yum!
July 14th, 2009 at 10:48 amNow I have to go make an Ice Cream Soda!
July 14th, 2009 at 10:29 amThat doesn’t sound very appetizing to me, but I would be willing to taste Pepsi ice cream, if it were offered to me.
July 14th, 2009 at 10:16 amwell, pepsi isn’t one of my favorites, but wouldn’t it be kinda’ like a float like robyn said? guess it would be ok, but i’ll just stick to the floats instead of travelling to russia.
July 14th, 2009 at 10:13 amWouldn’t that taste like a float, kinda. Sounds good to me!!
July 14th, 2009 at 10:09 amI agree Coke Ice Cream sounds pretty good. Glad to hear that Operation Hometown Hello is going very well. Way to go Turkey Hill!
July 14th, 2009 at 9:36 amNot a Pepsi fan but make it with Coke and I would be all over it.
July 14th, 2009 at 9:31 amAt first I thought YUCK. But the more I thought about it, I would try it.
