FEATURED PHOTO: PEPSI ICE CREAM?

No, this isn’t Photoshop magic, it’s a real Pepsi product. Before you get too excited, I should tell you that this product is only available in Russia. But it’s also sort of available in the U.S. That’s because “Pepsi Ice Cream” is really the Russian version of “Pepsi Vanilla.” Same recipe, different name! Actually, you can’t get Pepsi Vanilla any more. It’s been discontinued. But you can still purchase its similar-tasting rival, Vanilla Coke.

For the record, Pepsi makes all sorts of interesting flavors only available in other countries. Check out the whole list here, including Pepsi Ice Cucumber (a Japanese version with cucumber flavoring), Pepsi Fire (cinnamon flavored Pepsi sold in Mexico, Thailand and other Asian countries) and Pepsi Blue Hawaii (a pineapple and lemon flavored variety sold in Japan and blue in color).

Speaking of overseas, Turkey Hill Dairy and Turkey Hill Minit Market’s “Operation Hometown Hello” is going very well. In just two weeks, we’ve collected more than 750 pounds of donations (75 boxes) to be shipped to the troops serving overseas. Look for the Operation Hometown Hello box at one of 250 Turkey Hill Minit Markets throughout eastern, central and southern Pennsylvania and make a donation. It’s a shame we can’t send the troops some Pepsi Ice Cream!

  6. Mary Anne says:

I’d rather a root beer ice cream drink. Yum!

  9. Yvonne says:

So Pepsi Ice Cream is the same as Pepsi Vanilla….hmmm, I’ll have to get the lowdown on that from our Russian daughter-in-law. I love Vanilla Pepsi – no wonder I haven’t seen it lately; didn’t know they stopped making it. It was great to make sodas with TH Vanilla ice cream. Now I’ll have to resort to buying Vanilla Coke.

  10. Janet says:

Pineapple and lemon Pepsi does not sound good, bu Pepsi ice cream sounds interesting

  11. Tricia Ostermann says:

A real ice cream float is much better than fake flavoring in soda any day.

  12. Sharon says:

This makes me think Turkey Hill should try a “Coke Float” ice cream — someone already tried a Root Beer Float flavor and I bet Coke Float would be a hit!

  13. Cindy Gerhart says:

    Coke – no Pepsi!!

I’m a HUGE Pepsi fan, but there is no way I would drink anything with cucumber.

not the same as an ice cream soda made with philly vanilla turkey hill though.

  33. Lori says:

I like Vanilla Coke. Looks like its time to try it in a float.

  34. Meg S says:

I got so excited when I saw this photo and recognized the cyrillic alphabet and russian words on the top of the can. They after reading it was only found in Russia I was so ready to book a trip (especially because I took 5 years of Russian language in school!) But after reading a few lines later that it is jsut pepsi vanilla I frowned. Trip canceled! But it did give me a good idea for a dessert tonight…a delicious pepsi float with turkey hill vanilla bean ice cream = yum : )

  55. Denise says:

I was never a fan of the pepsi flavored soda, cherry flavored for me!

  56. jane conrad says:

  65. J Mike says:

I’m like Coke Vanilla with my Turkey Hill Ice Cream.

  66. caroline says:

The soda companies must now be hiring us seniors in their marketing department. Back in the 50′s and before there were local luncheonettes and soda fountains where they would add a dab of another flavor to the cola drink like cherry or vanilla or even the 2 cent plain (seltzer). The best thing about those long gone places was what they did with ice cream which now a days are chains that have a standard boring menu.

  67. Jennifer says:

We like to have Turkey Hill Vanilla with rootbeer. Not a big fan of Pepsi in this house.

  68. Fred says:

  69. Karen Justin Rachel says:

I’ll stick with ice cream over soda any day.

  70. Karen Justin Rachel says:

The thought of pepsi ice cream or perhaps other soda flavored ice cream sounds like an interesting idea to an ice cream lover but as a non soda drinker vanilla Pepsi doesn’t thrill me.

  71. Russ says:

Nothing beats a Root Beer Float with vanilla ice cream!

  72. Karen Justin Rachel says:

  73. Marcy says:

I don’t drink much soda, but Turkey Hill Ice Cream…….I Love !

  74. Carol Triano says:

I love Pepsi, and would give that flavor a try. I do make my floats with Pepsi and I wanted to let Awilda know that pepsi vanilla is still available in the Pittsburgh area.

  75. Joe B says:

What a difference it makes when you add “ice cream” to a product.

  76. Mary says:

Our organization sent 1,515 bags to the troops the today! It would be great if we could send them ice cream, but we send them other goodies(we can only send chocolate in one of our 3 mailings because of the weather.)

  77. barbara kendall says:

why not justmake a pepsi float? barbara

Vanilla Coke is good, but I’d rather be eating vanilla ice cream!

  79. debbie F. says:

Thanks TH and everyone who is supporting our troops…I’m a Pepsi Fan,but I had an opportunity to visit the Coco Cola Building in Atlanta and was able to taste the differnt flavors they make for different countries. Some were very good and others …I quess if you lived in that country they probably tasted good… I would like to try the Hawaii flavor and the cinnamon one also

  80. Lilly says:

There is nothing better than a Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean/Pepsi float. Those two flavors just taste great together.

  81. Alexa says:

Vanilla colas are ok but don’t remind me of ice cream

  82. Art Fairy says:

Gotta find the Vanilla Coke flavor…yummmmy!

  84. Bob Kessler Jr says:

Why do companies try to jazz up their beverages? Was their a great call for it by the public? Keep sodas simple. But keep providing us with the various selections of Turkey Hill ice cream.

  85. Tiffany says:

Not a soda fan so the idea of pepsi ice cream doesn’t really do anything for me. I love the operation hometown hero work that you do for our troops overseas! Way to go!!!

  86. Ruth says:

Nah, just bring on the ice cream! :)

  87. lee carr says:

  95. Peg says:

I don’t even want to try it. Both root beer and Pepsi taste nasty to me. I’m a Coke Classic drinker.

  96. Lorraine says:

I’ll take my vanilla in Turkey Hill Ice Cream please!

  97. Ann says:

Since you can’t send them the TH ice cream, nor the pepsi ice cream, why not send the rival. Vanilla coke? I am sure that they would enjoy that almost as much!

  98. Stephanie says:

at Penn State we have an ice cream called brown cow, which is root beer flavor ice cream and vanilla ice cream, which is delicious. I think it would delcious if Turkey Hill made this coke or pepsi (im not biased) product.

  99. Marion Leszczynski says:

I’ll stick with a root beer float.

  100. Margaret M says:

I am a true Pepsi and Turkey Hill fan, have been making my own floats with Vanilla bean and pepsi for a long time. I also put a dab of vanilla bean in my cup of coffee….delicious!

  101. Sandy says:

My first thought was “An ice cream float in a can? How do they do that?!”

I like ice cream floats – but much prefer the ice cream without soda!

  102. Sandy says:

My first thought was “An ice cream float in a can! How did they do that?!”

Ice cream floats are good – but ice cream without the soda is so much better!

  103. Barb says:

Pepsi Vanilla was very good and I’m sorry they discontinued it. I haven’t had an ice cream float in so long, all the comments are certainly making me thirsty for one. That may be the perfect dessert for tonight!

  104. CMC says:

It reminds me of “Laverne & Shirley,” when they’d make milk and Pepsi! I loved that when I was a kid – haven’t had it in ages!

  105. Robbin L. Netz says:

I checked out the whole list. When I saw Pepsi Mojito it reminded me of the Turkey Hill Diet Mojito Ice Tea I purchased last week. It is awesome! I only bought one because I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. I’m now addicted to it. Anyone who drinks diet tea out there, please try this.

  106. Emilia Napoleon says:

Vanilla Coke is great. Try to mix coke with milk, over ice. Also nice.

  107. Ellen says:

Never was adventurous enough to try Pepsi Vanilla. I stick with tastes I know like TH ice cream. MMMMMMM still on the lookout for Peaches ‘n Cream, hope my grocer gets it before the Limited Edition is over.

  108. Bruce Kiel says:

Those are some weird Pepsi flavors; they do NOT appeal to me at all!

  109. Debbie L says:

    It sounds like a float.

  110. Ann R. says:

Makes me wonder…If you folks at Turkey Hill were to market your ice cream abroad, what “culturally influenced” flavors would you create?

  111. Sarah says:

I agree with Robin, TH’s Diet Mojito Ice Tea is the bomb!

  112. Frank says:

    One word…ewwwww.

  113. Mrs says:

I have been to the World of Coca-cola in Atlanta where I got to sample coke products from different countries.

  118. karen says:

  119. bill says:

A pepsi float with Turkey Hill French Vanilla Yum!

  120. Nicole says:

Pepsi Ice Cream…what an interesting idea. But, I agree with a previous comment: Turkey Hill Vanilla and Pepsi would make a great float. I like both of the separately – Pepsi when I want a drink – ice cream when I want a treat!

  122. gianna says:

i’m not a soda drinker….but i make up for it by eating more than my share of T.H. ice cream!

  123. Cinda F says:

I like coke products better anyhow! Those different flavored pepsis from different countries do not even interest or sound appealing to me. I will just stick to eating Turkey Hill icecream at separate times than when i drink soda.

  124. Marion says:

    That was a tease!

  125. Faith says:

Ice Cream in a can, just let it melt and drink it. You can hold the Pepsi, just put the Turkey Hill Ice Cream inside.

  129. Joyce says:

When traveling overseas, it’s always interesting to visit a grocery store and check out the products that are so different from what we have at home.

This post also brought back childhood memories. At the drugstore where my mom would get her perscriptions, they would always give us coupons to enjoy a free Coke float while we waited for the perscription to be filled. I was so disappointed when they eventually did away with their lunch counter and thus, the free Coke floats.

  130. Dan says:

  135. Douglas says:

    I’d try it.

  136. Jen says:

I think if Pepsi brought this back to the US with this name and made it ACTUAL ice cream, people would buy it. Better yet, just have Pepsi come out with their own ice cream. I think that would be interesting.

  137. mary says:

this not up my alley, moo over for better flavors

  138. C "Outen says:

Wow…maybe Pepsi should have used that terminology in the US:)

  140. dee says:

Root Beer Float is great. We also love (and can never find) “Purple Cow” which is grape juice with vanilla ice cream. I used to make my own when I made grape jelly and had the leftovers which we put over vanilla ice cream. The kids loved it, and still talk about it even though they now have kids of their own.

  142. peanutjake says:

When I was a kid, 50 years ago, the local soda fountain would serve Chocolate Coke.
They mixed Coke Syrup with Chocolate Syrup. Delicious!
