WILD AND WACKY ICE CREAM NEWS!

It’s time for another… WILD AND WACKY ICE CREAM NEWS! Just like last time, all of these stories are true, except for one (which we totally made up). Try to guess which is the phony by leaving a comment!

softcone1. FILE THIS ONE UNDER “EWWWWWW!” — A Frederick, MD woman in need of a quick summer treat did what many of us do while on-the-go, she made a pit stop at a drive-thru for some soft serve ice cream. After getting home, and after already eating most of her treat, the woman was horrified to find blood on her cone! The culprit was a restaurant employee who had cut his hand and was not wearing gloves. The restaurant manager ordered the employee to the hospital for tests (all was okay) and offered to pay for the woman’s medical expenses too.

2. HAVE A SEAT! (OR NOT) – Researchers at the Queen’s University Belfast in Ireland have discovered that there might be a deeper reason for our frosty cravings, and it has nothing to do with those delicious swirls of peanut butter. In studies of more than 100 ice cream indulgers, the researchers found that people who ate ice cream while standing up consumed a whopping 25 percent more ice cream on average than people who snacked while seated and 37 percent more than people who ate while lying down.

3. A THRILLER OF A MILKSHAKE — Michael Jackson’s sister, LaToya, found a way to pay homage to the late King of Pop by honoring his memory with a milkshake. LaToya concocted the treat while visiting a popular West Hollywood ice cream shop. The unnamed shake will be available through October 31, and contains strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, skittles, mixed nuts, caramel, whipped cream and a Cadbury flake. All proceeds will be donated to the AIDS Project Los Angeles.

4. GIMME A DOUBLE SCOOP AND ALL YER MONEY! — The notorious “Ice Cream Bandit” of Morristown, NJ has been caught! The man who held up five ice cream parlors throughout New York and New Jersey this summer — including three in one week — was nabbed by authorities and faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. When police searched the bandit’s apartment, they learned that the outlaw did his homework when they discovered a notebook with a list of all the local ice cream shops. Ice cream shops he won’t be visiting for a long, long time, we hope.

  1. Mary says:

    I vote for #3.

  2. Mary Kruhm says:

Queen’s University surely has more to research than how much ice cream people consume in various positions.

  3. Jonibee says:

    I think it’s also #3

  4. Brenda says:

Hi everyone, I think it is number 3.
I know number 1 is true. but any way. I love all of them. You need a good laugh and all three were good. I feel sorry for number 1. I would be upset too. I hope she will be ok. Turkey hill may be you can send her 1 or 2 free coupon for turkey hill ice cream. Once she try turkey hill ice cream. She will never go back to that kind of ice cream. She will love you for that.

  5. Janny says:

I also vote for #3. What is a Cadbury Flake? How could you NOT name it?

  6. Elise says:

    I think number 3.

  7. Evan Thomas says:

Haha, weird stories. I would like to think number 1, just because that sounds so awful, but who knows

  8. Linda Barnes says:

It can’t be #1, because the blood would have been frozen.

Not #2 because Weight Watchers proved that you eat LESS standing up.

Not #3, because LaToya would have given it a name with her brother’s name in it.

So it must be #4–I can say that because I live in NJ and it sounds like something someone from here would do!

  9. Jacqueline Seewald says:

How truly wild these stories are! But fascinating to read. That’s for going to the trouble to collect them.

  10. Ken says:

I vote for story #3. Also,I love to eat my Turkey Hill Ice Cream “STANDING UP”
at my kitchen counter.Maybe that is why I can go through(2)two half gallons a
week! I REFUSE TO SIT DOWN.

  11. jilly says:

    i’m voting for #3,good luck ever1.

  12. Pauline says:

    I vote for #3.

  13. jeannine leonard says:

no 2 who eats icecream lying down?

  14. Jeffrey says:

I’m going to guess No2. Numbers 1 and 4 sound beleiveable and I’m hoping number 3 is true.

  15. Cheryl says:

#3 gets my vote but #1 is just plain sick!!

  16. Andilu says:

The bloody cone incident happened at mcdonalds…ew!!

I vote for #2 being the faker

  17. John Wenger says:

    I say # 3 is the fake,

  18. Linda Leffler says:

I would have to say #3, I know #1 happened already. Linda

  19. John's wife says says:

The 3rd. is the fake one.

  20. BILL says:

    No, 3 gets my vote!

  21. Lynn says:

It has to be #3. Yik!!! Too many things mixed together, doesn’t sound very appetizing to me….

BTW…who lays down to eat ice cream??

  22. Sue Russell says:

Definitely Number 2. Who cares if you are sitting or standing. An ice cream is an ice cream and you will eat all of it no matter what. Besides that study would have been done in England and not America. Why do you think Americans are overweight.

  23. Caroline at Manalapan says:

I know #4 is true since I read about the ice cream bandit in the papers. #1 sounds like it could happen. With Hollywood anything can be true so that takes care of #3. I go with #2 being false since its hard to eat your way thru a tub of TH standing up. I prefer to eat mine sitting but I also do it lying in bed watching TV.

  24. Mary H. says:

#2 and #3 are the least believable but I’ve seen some rather odd research studies, so I’m going with #3 as the fake.

  25. Awiii says:

I think #4. I know # 3 is def. true thanks to perez hilton!

  26. Pat says:

    I think #3 :)

  27. Carol says:

I know #4 is correct because our Carvel store in Madison NJ was “hit” by the bandit. In this case the store owner, a young woman, ushered him out the door and told him to never come back again!

I don’t believe #3. Seems too frivolous for La Toya.

  28. Nancy says:

I think #3 is the fake one.

  29. Susan says:

    I believe # 2 is False

  30. Deb V. says:

I’m going with #2 to be the false one. Who eats ice cream while laying down (and who would want to)? Although I probably if I could right now, eat ice cream no matter where I was. Cheers!

  31. gloria says:

LaToya was too preoccupied with MMichael’s death and events related to this to have time for something like this.

  32. Marion says:

    #3–strictly a guess.

  33. ell says:

think and hope #1 is the made up story

  34. Bert says:

    #3 Easy.

  35. Ken says:

    I love your ice cream!

  36. christine says:

What great stories:) #2 is the false one.

  37. Joni Roller says:

I hope #3, it sounds somewhat gross.

  38. gianna says:

Believe it or not #1, #3 and #4 are all true (did a bit of research)….so the false story is #2!

  39. Sarah says:

I think it is #3. Somehow I cannot believe the LaToya Jackson would visit an ice cream shop just for this purpose. As to #2, which many thought was incorrect, there have been many more ridiculous studies done in order to waste tax payer money.

  40. Susan K Lapp says:

Ah Sweet & Tricky! But, I Think I Will Pick #3 To Be The Not So True Story. :)

  41. Marcy says:

I would say #2 is false.

  42. Fran W says:

I agree with most – #3 has to be made up. I can not believe LaToya would go for an ice cream tribute. But then again, I don’t know if she’s ever had Turkey Hill …

  43. Carol Triano says:

#3 is false. I cannot believe this to be true.

  44. Alexa Bafunno says:

On July 17 I was notified I won 2 coupons for ice cream. Although I have sent 2 emails, I have never received the coupons nor any acknowledgment of my correspondence, so I thought I’d try this venue to get my coupons.

  45. Mary Gropp says:

I think #3 is fabricated. There has never been a public connection between ice cream and the Jackson’s.

  46. Karen says:

I’m going to cheat and trust the person whose blog entries says it’s number 2 based on research. In the past I’ve searched the net to weed out the false story but don’t have time today. Thanks for doing my homework.

  47. Lauren says:

I was leaning towards #1 myself, but after reading the comments and thinking about it a bit more, I realize it’s #2!

I used to live in Madison, NJ (right near Morristown), so I’m glad the ice cream bandit wasn’t around when I was there (as far as I know)!

  48. Yvonne says:

    I’ll say #2…….it doesn’t quite sit right.

  49. Leah says:

I’m going to guess that #2 is the made up story.

  50. Jane Moslow says:

I’d say number 2. Who eats ice cream laying down.

  51. christie says:

    I think/hope 1 is phony

  52. Jean says:

    can’t imagine #3 is true.

  53. Dani says:

I’m gonna say #2 — I think it must be very hard to eat ice cream while laying down. If it was me, I wouldn’t EAT 37% less, it would just be the 37% that landed on the floor instead of in my mouth…

  54. Sue says:

i believe it is number 2 that is the false story…

  55. Rol D says:

I think #3 is not right..It sounds yuck!! I guess it`s everyones taste but it does not sound right…

  56. Ronald F says:

    Number One doesn’t sound right.

  57. joseph says:

i think #3 is the fake one.

  58. Norma says:

Number 2 with this caveat: If you are standing up in front of the freezer with your spoon in that container of Turkey Hill all while talking on the phone, more is not less!

  59. lee carr says:

I truly believe that the fake story is about the people who ate ice cream while standing up but I hope that the fake story is the first one,ewwwww.

  60. Lorraine says:

That choc. icecream cone is making me hungry/Ha/////

  61. Judi says:

Don’t really care but just to be different I’ll say #4 becausew it sounds most likely. Figure that out! But when will we know for sure?

  62. CHRISTINE says:

I THINK #3 IS THE FAKE STORY.

  63. Janet Smith says:

I’ll go with #3. If it were true, it probably would have been in the news.

  64. Sue says:

    I think #3

  65. Jim in SOMD says:

    # 2 has to the false story. It is very hard to eat ice cream lying down, so that number would have been much higher. Also, I believe that they would have asked how do consume your ice cream, and so the answer would have been that 25% more people ate ice cream while standing than while sitting. If that was in fact true, which I doubt.

  66. Lynn says:

Hey Alexa! I never got my coupons either…but I’m still buying & eating my T.H. faithfully!

  67. Fred K says:

I vote is that number 2 is false but does make for good ready.

  68. sandy c says:

Those are really some crazy ice cream stories, one nevers knows what will happen.

  69. lucy and laddie says:

We think its #2. Thought you’s would like to hear this one. Its true. In our neighborhood we had a small mom and pop store. My sister, got acone and in it was a bobby pin!!!! Yuk! You never knew what you would get. That was back in the 60′s.

  70. Robbin L. Netz says:

I never, ever seem to pick the right answer, but I keep trying. #2 is my choice. But what is a Cadbury Flake? Is there really such a thing?

  71. Jay says:

I say #4, the guy sounds to smart to be a hold up guy

  72. Anne King says:

Story #1 is absolutely awful! We usually buy Turkey Hill in our supermarket;today bought Black Cherry and Strawberry Cream. They do not have enough sugar free. How about it?

  73. Ellen says:

I think #2 is false. #1 is gross. The other 2 sound believable. The MilkShake sounds delicious if it’s true. #4, he got his just desserts.

  74. Bill F says:

I believe (and hope) number one is false!

  75. Betty Henny says:

My vote is that #3 is untrue! Just doesn’t sound like something she would do!

  76. h. tina says:

that is disgusting, aren’t they surpose to be wearing gloves? i would be weary every time i would buy from a ice cream stand. also i think it is #3

  77. JACQUELINE AREIAS says:

i think its #3.LATOYA is to busy shaking her boody on stage to think of ice cream. and ice cream is fatting but ohhhhhhhhhh do i still love it and still eat it.

  78. Ruth Fourney says:

I really believe no. 1 is untrue. Why wouldn’t she see theblood from the get go.

  79. Donna says:

i think number 2 is not right.

  80. Ann says:

#3 has to be false, first of all it would have been on every news cast for days, second Latoya doesn’t seem like that type. At least I hope she isn’t so that I am right!

  81. BETTY says:

    4 is untrue

  82. Bob Kessler Jr says:

After researching it I could not find any information on #2 so I would vote it for being the false story. Of course some of the others are hard to believe but that’s why they are wild and wacky but true.

  83. Stefanie Schmidt says:

These are some crazy stories. I believe number 1 is the untrue one.

  84. Suzanne says:

    I think it’s #3.

  85. Anne says:

My Magic 8 Ball says #3 is untrue.

  86. bill says:

    I say number 4

  87. Dee says:

I think # 3 has got to be false – otherwise, we’d still be reading about it in the news !

  88. Isolde says:

4 is untrue, all the others are too random to be made up while 4 is the classic story to end wacky icecream as its general and funny.
