Tomorrow is officially the first day of fall. Which means time is up on all those things you wanted to do this summer, but never got around to. Hopefully you got lots of other things checked off your summer fun list. If not, you’ve got one day left!
But the fall isn’t such a bad season. In fact, there are lots of things look forward to. Like cooler weather, the leaves changing colors, sweaters, soup, back-to-school (whether you’re a parent or a kid will determine how much you look forward to this one), pumpkins on doorsteps and, of course, football.
Those are just a few things the fall season brings our way each year. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
it’s the most wonderful time of the year; it sure beats the heat of summer, the ice of winter and the rain of spring. I compost my leaves so they are not a problem to me.
I cannot wait for all of the fall ice creams! Pumpkin, apple pie, maple, YUMMY!!
Apple picking and some delicious apple desserts!!!
It was the best of times and it was the worst of times. Looking at the leaves changing color is great. Mother nature sure knows how to paint a picture. However, in your own yard, those leaves turn color and must be removed when they litter your lawn.
I just love the cooler weather!
This one’s tough for me as I love the summer and the heat that comes with it. I’ll have to agree that apple picking is one of our favorite fall activities and the kids just love Halloween.
Indian summer, sweatshirts, I love everything about fall except knowing the next season is bringing snow and ice!!! Oh, one other thing, ginger snap and egg nog ice cream are other good things that happen in these two seasons.
I love apple picking and all the pumpkin desserts! Which is slightly silly since canned pumpkin is available all year long
I just love Turkey Hill rum raisin ice-cream that usually comes out during the holidays. The grocery store I shop at finally got the rum raisin ice-cream in. I am loving it! This time of year I look forward to Thanksgiving day also.
I also like to pick apples in the fall. The only trouble is; the orchard that I picked apples at closed down this year. I also like to pick out a pumpkin at a farm near us.
I can open the windows and turn off the A/C. Its the same for spring but the “turn off” is the furnace. We like Lee also compost the leaves but the gathering to us is a problem
Fall to me means: FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL……..Go Bengals!!!!!
Love to see the colors of the leaves and trees, and watch them drop down, the beauty of it all brings freshness and love the air in the fall the change of it, how your feel it. The beauty of different scenes from a distance when travling is great, the colors, and to see the earth change is great, just love it///////
I love EVERYTHING about fall, but especially the painted landscape – we take a scenic trip to see leaves every year. Then there’s football (GO PENN STATE!), cider, apple and pumpkin festivals, garden harvesting, fall flowers…..lovin’ all of them. Rum-raisin ice cream would be a blessing, also, but we can’t get it in western PA. For those with leaf problems, please consider composting – you’ll love the rich soil to use in the spring. Happy fall, y’all!
i love going up-state pennsy , n helping family snitz apples n make apple butter , yummy.
Ah, Fall.
A new season, a new beginning. Breathe in that crisp autumn air, love the falling leaves which bring back childhood memories of jumping into piles of them, fireplaces, pumpkins, mums, and time to look for last year’s gloves.
Nice crisp air, apple dumplings baking in the oven, Turkey Hill ice cream on them, yum. The beautiful colors of the leaves and sweater time, yea. Linda
I am not that big of a fan of Winter, But, As Far as Fall, Summer, & Spring…I am So Sad, Alway’s To See Summer Go.; I Miss The Colors Of Spring Flower’s & Plants Also, As They Grow. But, Fall is So Crisp, With The Air, The Wind & More, That I Love Fall Everytime it come’s around year to year, knocking on my door. The Gorgeous colors of Pumpkin, Mellon, Brown’s, Tan’s, Orange’s, & More….Are So Catching to One’s Eye, That I hate to See Fall Go!
Love this weather! It starts off chilly but warms up – still nice days for the beach!
Fall is beautiful outdoors and of course Nittany Lion football in Happy Valley. What tops this off is Pumpkin Ice Cream which is the cream of the season!!
Fall is my favorite season. Usually lots of sunny, crisp days that can be spent taking long walks. And yes, I love the beauty of the changing leaf colors. I think we all feel more alive in the fall.
Fall is the best time of year. Feels like all new beginnings. The colors, the temps, the smell of fresh crisp air at night. ahhhhh
My favorite thing about fall is going apple picking, baking a made-from-scratch apple pie, and teaming the pie up with some Turkey Hill vanilla bean ice cream!!!!!
I like fall for all the reasons you mentioned!
you can sit on the porch ,with a dish of turkey hill and it will not melt so fast this time of year. enjoy enjoy
We are farmers, so Fall always means harvesting the crops on cool, crisp days. Fall also is gorgeous and I love to watch all the beautiful colors in the country. I especially love pumpkin ice cream.
I agree with all of you.
The first fire in woodstove and the smell of woodsmoke, pumpkins & gourds, apple picking, walking in crisp crunchy leaves, flocks of geese flying over, the Harvest Moon and of course The World Series!!! Go Yankees!!
I love the colors of the leaves, burning outside and slow cooking meals on the stove.
i love all the things everyone else does about fall. but, to be honest, my favorite things are a decrease in the electric bill, no air conditioning. no gas or oil bill, no heating needed. mosquitoes are gone so i can enjoy my porch more. tho my kids are all grown, i enjoy the school year attending functions with my grandkids. baseball winding down and football starting up.the fun of halloween and the family vibes at thanksgiving. fall is my favorite of all seasons.
I love all things about the fall. & NW PA is the best place to enjoy the foliage & the Grand Canyon of the east!
Also, the Harvest Moon!
Fall is my favorite time of year. The things you mentioned were all great. Also, all the Apple, Peach & Pumpkin Festivals our local farmers markets have. Plus Halloween and Thanksgiving and all the fun associated with those days. Isn’t Fall wonderful?
Hi Turkey Hill and fans I love all the season. Fall make me wanted to play in the colorful leave, drink hot cider on a cold fall night. Take long walk thur the forest on a fall afternoon, have a lunch with turkey hill tea to drink, nice fall salsds, with wheat bread and Turkey hill ice cream after. I love to canned fruits also
I love the fall gatherings with family and friends, especially around halloween.
The air is crisp, cool, and refreshing.
Our family enjoys the farm tours in our area, along with pumpkin patches and corn mazes. Pumpkin spice coffee with a scoop of vanilla turkey hill ice cream hits the spot. We also want to try rum raisin ice cream.
everything that comes with fall
We love everything about fall. Especiallly “Halloween” . Also pumpkin pie, ice cream and pumpkin cookie, candy corn, creme pumpkins. Get the picture?
My birthday!
Penn State Football
Eagles Football (even after yesterday)
Phillies playoffs and another World Series (I hope)
And Turkey Hill vanilla swiss almond.
I look forward to cooking some good hearty meals that we don’t eat in the heat of summer with Turkey Hill ice cream for dessert, of course.
It’s the best season: The changing of the leaves, the cool crisp nights, apples . . .
I love the beautiful picture you chose. I’m so glad I live in the Northeast where I can enjoy the Fall colors. Thinking about food, how about a fresh slice of apple pie with some vanilla ice cream?
We ejoy picking apples at a local orchard and then comng home and baking apple pies and apple crisp and applesauce–then there’s the apple cider and then there’s the local pumpkin patch to take the grandchildren too and the pumpkins to pick and hay rides to go on and…………..I love this time of the year and so does my family
The best thing is the fall arts and apple festivals….and halloween…but fall means that winter is not to far behind… and winter is my least favorite season
I love living in Pennsylvania. Each season has a bounty of blessings, and as a new season approaches it always gives us new and wonderful things and activities to look forward to. I would never want to live in a place where the climate is the same year round.
Have any coupons to send in the mail?
PUMPKIN ICE CREAM!!!!
PUMPKIN ICE CREAM!!!
I love the fall! All the holidays start to come, starting with Halloween. Fall is the best!
My birthday in October.
The cool but not cold air.
Less bugs.
Winter squash.
..and of course, those beautiful leaves.
I agree with the others,, Fall is beautiful but it also means winter is close behind & I HATE winter! I love PA’s beautiful seasons, the leaves are beautiful,, the pumpkin & apple festivals are great,, the bounty of the harvest,,, and this year, I’m hoping my local store gets the TH pumpkin ice cream in!
I love the colors and the wonderful smells!! To have a warm sunny day, and sit out back and have some pumpkin coffee with a scoop or 2 of vanilla ice cream!! barbara
turtlenecks and sweaters…
pumpkin pie…
hot apple cider…
I just love the change of seasons!
Fall is the most beautiful time of the year. Bright orange leaves falling, cool breeze in the air along with a soft woodize smell. Of course a sweater to wear when picking out a pumpkin and picking apples puts one in a great mood. Especially looking forward to enjoying any ice cream flavored pumpkin or apple/walnuts on top afterwards.
personally, I love summer and I miss it most when I have to cover my pool. I loved having the kids home for the summer and hated when we had to go back to early nights to bed and early cold mornings taking them to school. I miss the softball games, sitting in the freezing cold watching football isn’t my thing. I do love the apples and especially vanilla ice cream over warm apple crisp. Yum
I HATE THE WINTER!The only thing that I look forward too, about the fall,is the Turkey Hill Pumpkin and Apple Pie Ice Cream.
I love the scenery and the sweaters! I’m a teacher, so I go back to school too. I love the kids, but not the paperwork. I don’t like winter, but it makes spring and summer so much more special.
The smell of the crisp morning air through my open windows at dawn…
Long-sleeved t-shirts…
and TH Limited Edition Baked Apple Dumpling!!
I can think of the church dinners, getting exercise by raking leaves, and new ice cream flavors from Turkey Hill.
Love Autumn, making apple pies and topping one slice with some TH ice cream, hmmmmm!
well i love the fall because it’s not hot and muggy also the air smells so fresh. and once fall arrives you know the holidays are just around the corner
Its just cool enough but not too cold to open all those windows that you had closed to keep in the air conditioning working to cool the house. Now you can open them and let the fresh air clear the closed in smells of summer. Because I have lung desease, I can not be in the humidity but now, since it will be cooling off, I will be able to go for walks. I love spring and fall. But I also love Christmas. Also, my husband, son and I love Turkey Hill Ice Cream…..
pumpkin Ice Cream comes out with the fall leaves yummy!
