SPRINKLES!!!
Posted by Turkey Hill Team on September 28th, 2009

Aren’t sprinkles great? They don’t add much extra flavor to ice cream, but somehow they just make it better. That’s my opinion at least. Of course, some of you may refer to sprinkles as “jimmies.” The jimmies vs. sprinkles debate is a topic we wrote about a while back here on the Ice Cream Journal. Are they sprinkles? Are they jimmies? Are they really necessary? Who knows. I do know I’m a fan of them. Are there any other sprinkle fans out there?

I love sprinkles on my Turkey Hill Ice Cream and so do my grandkids. They seem to make the ice cream just so much more festive and special.
I put sprinkles on our TH ice cream. We like sprinkles but I think the jimmies the little round balls are to hard. The sprinkles are soft especially the chocolate ones. Linda
I LIKE CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES WITH CHOCOLATE SYRUP OVER MY VANILLA AND CHOCOLATE TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM. YUMMY!
Chocolate sprinkles are yummy, but I hardly ever have them. The colored sprinkles are so pretty, but I won’t touch them…(have to stay away from artificial coloring).
The topping in the picture looks like little round beads, which I would be okay with calling “sprinkles.” However, I wouln’t normally think of these as an ice cream topping. Instead, I would use the small oblong bits that some may call sprinkles but I have always called “jimmies.” Only very rarely do I think to put these on my ice cream, though. They don’t add much in terms of flavor, just dress it up a bit.
oops – I meant to say “wouldn’t” in my last comment, not “wouln’t”
I pretty much only use sprinkles on plain-ish ice creams… like plain vanilla or chocolate (which I rarely eat ’cause I’m one of those folks who loves lots of mix ins in my ice cream!). I also use sprinkles when I decorate cookies.
We love all kinds of sprinkles. My son who is 4 years old eats sprinkles without eating any ice cream.
not more additional flavoring, but oh such pretty colors, I vote for more and more sprinkles. TH never needs anything on it, it’s sooo good by its self.
Not a “sprinkle”or “jimmy” fan…I love lots of Stuff in my Ice cream not ot top of it
it depends if they are round then they are sprinkles, if they are oblong they are jimmies!! Not a big fan of them on Ice Cream my self though I keep some on hand for those who enjoy them
I prefer my ice cream without the sprinkles. We always called them jimmies. I tend to think of the round balls as sprinkles and the oblong shaped ones as jimmies. Anyway, my grandkids LOVE sprinkles on theirs.
No sprinkles for me–they would just get in the way of the ice cream!!
I prefer dip to sprinkles.
aww, ihave a friend who work’s @ mcCormick’s he makes the jimmies n sprinkles, hes got a great job, lol jimmies are oblong , and sprinkles are round. Thank’s turkey hill manic monday trivia !!!!
When I was a kid and ice cream cones were 5 cents I always had chocolate sprinkles on my chocolate cone. I waited until the one man that worked at the store was in because he really gave me alot of sprinkles! Oh those wonderful memories.
Hi Turkey Hills fans, Please do not put any sprinkles on my turkey hill ice cream. If I wanted sprinkle on my ice cream then I would buy another kind of ice cream to put it on. But NOT TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM. I like my turkey hill ice cream just the way it is. Thank you turkey hill for not adding any sprinkle on top of anyof your ice cream.
i do not like sprinkles on my turkey hill ice cream, ijust like it plain. also i had the eagles ice cream and it was great
I prefer my ice cream plain, but as a child I use to get sprinkles on very rare occassions (only on soft serve ice cream though).
Here in Western NY, sprinkles are multi-colored and jimmies chocolate.
Personally, I skip the sprinkles, but they are pretty.
I think Sprinkles are great…I’m a big Sprinkle fan
Of course, I may be prejudiced…
Unh-unh, no sprinkles on my Turkey Hill butter pecan. My granddaughter looooves sprinkles, but then she is only 5.
I love sprinkles or jimmies on my ice cream seem to taste better. It may be all in my imagination but that’s how I feel.
Sprinkles are great. They add the finish to ice cream.
No sprinkles or jimmies for me. Crushed peanuts and hard chocolate syrup on my ice cream, in a dish covered with whipped cream. Don’t eat cones anymore, get a lot more in a dish.
I love sprinkles or jimmies on my ice cream! I have been eating them on ice cream since I was a kid, and now my kids love them too!
I always thought jimmies were the chocolate rod shaped pieces and sprinkles were the multicolored balls.
Whatever, I like my TH straight or with traditional sundae toppings, like chocolate syrup, nuts, caramel or whipped cream.
I agree with Sarah. I think of the long chocolate ones as Jimmies. They are the only ones I like. The little ones, like in the picture, are too hard and don’t add anything to the ice cream. However, a little whipped cream never hurt.
Jimmies are great! They give you that visual stimulation.
I go with Lois, hard chocolate syrup and crushed nuts. Sprinkles look nice but do not enhance the flavor of the ice cream and if you have it in a building they make a small mess on the floor.
I love the little balls (sprinkles) of sugar bliss on my vanilla ice cream sometimes. I have always thought as sprinkles as the hard crunchy balls and jimmies as the oblong soft ones. Although I use the term sprinkles for both. Like the chocolate jimmies aka sprinkles on chocolate ice cream.
Only sprinkles could make Turkey Hill taste better.
I don’t put sprinkles(multi-color hard
balls)or jimmies(chocolate oblong shape)
on any of my Turkey Hill ice cream.
I want to taste just the Turkey Hill flavor of what I am eating!
I’m w Sarah and Emilia on the debate…but I am just as happy eating TH ice cream without the additions.
These are jimmies, my family always referred to the long oblong pieces as sprinkles
We have sprinkles at home. The only time we use them is to decorate cupcakes. I prefer my Turkey Hill plain right out of the carton.
At my neighborhood ice cream party this year I put sprinkles on my ice cream cone shaped rice krispy cake…but not on my ice cream. The children of all ages loved the look of the cone with sprinkles/cake…only a few of the smaller children put sprinkles or jimmys on their ice cream.
see this photo, these are sprinkles. Jimmies are longer. these are dottish.
both are fun. does Ice Cream need them?
no, it is just for fun. they are also used for toppings on other items like in a cup of yogurt.
SPRINKLES my all time favorite!
The kind of sprinkles I like are tan(Twinkle Coat) and yes, I had a cone before the seasonal ice cream shops closed this year.
Great picture. Sprinkles or jimmies, they just make ice cream look even more enticing. Happy food made a little happier.
Keep the sprinkles coming. I love them!
i call them jimmies because that is what my parents called them!
me and my girl love eating sprikels off ech other then fun starts
