WOULD YOU EAT IT?
Posted by: Turkey Hill Team
We’ve profiled weird ice cream flavors on the Ice Cream Journal in the past, but we thought we switch things up a bit in a segment we call “Would You Eat It?” Today’s “would you eat it” flavor is Corn Ice Cream With Edam Cheese. That’s a photo of it below.

Just like the name implies, this ice cream is flavored with corn and edam cheese. Edam cheese is described as a very mild cheese, with little or no smell and a slightly salty or nutty taste. In other words, not a bad cheese to add to ice cream. And before you say “What?! Cheese in ice cream?!”, remember that our very own strawberry cheesecake ice cream tastes like its namesake cheese-based dessert. As for where this corny concoction is from, we’re not exactly sure, but we do know that the photo above has origins somewhere in Asia.
And there you have it — Corn Ice Cream with Edam Cheese. So the question remains: Would you eat it?

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

I’d try it once. Twice if I liked it!

November 9th, 2009 at 8:40 pmSure, I would try it!! I’m up for anything!!
November 8th, 2009 at 2:23 pmdo not like the sound of cold corn flavor
November 4th, 2009 at 5:42 pmmaybe apple with edam,
pineapple,or even pear but not corn
Yes, corn icecream rocks!
November 1st, 2009 at 10:52 pmI love cream of corn soup and grilled cheese sandwichs but this flavor of ice cream ( my favorite food) doesn’t grab me. Perhaps a butter flavor base and some buttered toast crumbs would entice me to eat it.
November 1st, 2009 at 5:08 pmIs it sweet(like ice cream). I think I’d try it.
October 30th, 2009 at 10:43 amWe have a local Philippine brand of ice cream that makes Mais Con Queso, which literally means corn with cheese. I liked it a lot but now I developed milk intolerance, I miss eating it. It’s actually good.
October 30th, 2009 at 2:57 amNope – this one’s not for me!!!!
October 29th, 2009 at 8:07 pmNO THANK YOU! I LOVE your Ice Cream
October 29th, 2009 at 7:59 pm“BUT” that is just stretching it!
no thanks ,not my cup of ice cream
October 29th, 2009 at 5:05 pmlets be like the qween EAR YOUR CREAM AND LIKE IT
October 29th, 2009 at 3:32 pmI like cheese with apples so that may be a good combo, corn with cheese….sounds interesting, I would try it – hey it’s ice cream for goodness sake!
October 29th, 2009 at 2:35 pmwould I? absolutely, its ice cream, its sweet and I am sure delicious
October 29th, 2009 at 2:25 pmWell, it doesn’t thrill me, but I would give it a taste. It might be interesting to serve with pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.
October 29th, 2009 at 1:59 pmAbsolutely!!! although I’m not sure its as appealing as the other seasonal flavors like southern lemon pie!
October 29th, 2009 at 1:27 pmI would not buy it since no one in my family liked the popcorn in the Duo mixes.
October 29th, 2009 at 1:26 pmYes! I would try it. A small sample first would be good. Corn is sweet. I don’t think you could sell it to kids unless you gave it a catchy name. Veggies just seem to scare kids away but it would be another way to get some veggies in them.
October 29th, 2009 at 1:05 pmI sampled corn ice cream at the PA farm show last year and it was pretty good!
October 29th, 2009 at 12:59 pmHi turkey hills fans, like the cheese not the corn in my ice cream. I make cream cheese ice cream all the time. But to add corn…no way.
October 29th, 2009 at 12:35 pmIt actually looks okay but it just doesn’t sound yummy. I guess I’d try it though. Can’t hurt. Now, if you replaced the corn with candy corn and had cream cheese instead of edam…that would probably be good.
October 29th, 2009 at 12:02 pmWould have to sample it before buying it.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:35 amI would at least give it a try. You shouldn’t base taste on looks. This is not that outlandish or gross. If you like corn and edam cheese adding ice cream shouldn’t alter the taste that much.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:04 amDefinetly. Same ingredients in ice cream but in different proportions.
October 29th, 2009 at 11:00 amWould not eat this ice cream. YUK
October 29th, 2009 at 10:56 amDefinately NOT!! GROSS!! I’ll take Moose Tracks or Chocolate, now thats ice cream!!
October 29th, 2009 at 10:23 amcorn – maybe – cheese – only if it’s cheesecake!
October 29th, 2009 at 10:07 amNo thank you, I will stick to eating my cheese and corn seperately from Turkey Hill Ice Cream!
October 29th, 2009 at 9:58 amNo way! It would ruin ice cream.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:53 amYeah, I’d eat it. I bet it’s amazing, and would be even better with some dark chocolate! YUM!
October 29th, 2009 at 9:48 amI would try a spoonful, just to see how it taste. It looks good, I thought it resembled pineapple with vanilla icecream. Getting past the looks is just as important as to how it taste.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:45 amI don’t think so. I eat ice cream because it sounds and looks sweet and delicious. Keep trying.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:24 amYes, I would try it. I just can’t imagine a Turkey Hill flavor that I wouldn’t like although anything minty is on the bottom of my list but the corn and cheese combo sounds very interesting.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:01 amNo, I would not like it at all. You don’t see people eating ice cream with crackers, do you?
October 29th, 2009 at 8:50 amI went to college in the midwest with Wisconcin, “America’s Dairyland” and Iowa Corn. Corn and Cheese in Ice Cream, I would try it in a, shall I say, New York Minute.
October 29th, 2009 at 8:30 amGo Phillies.
Maybe if I microwaved it to melt the ice cream and then pretended it was creamed corn…..oh! that might be a good side dish for Thanksgiving dinner…mmmmm
October 29th, 2009 at 8:04 amIt’s still ice cream isn’t it ? Of course I’d eat it!
October 29th, 2009 at 6:13 amThat’s just gross!
October 29th, 2009 at 5:44 amI think I might try it because it sounds creamy and delicious with a lot of savory flavor.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:07 amKetchup sherbet – now that’s the ticket!!!
October 29th, 2009 at 1:36 amYeah, it actually looks pretty good.
October 29th, 2009 at 12:53 amSure I’d try it!! I like the ice cream base, love sweet corn, and Edam cheese. The combo would be creamy and crunchy, all at the same time.YUMMY!!! Like my corn pudding, but w/ added cheese, and chilled. My very most favorite TH ice cream is Choco Mint Chip. Little fine shreds of chocolate ALL THROUGH THE ICE CREAM!!! Scrumptious!!!
October 29th, 2009 at 12:32 amNO WAY WILL I EAT CORN ICE CREAM. WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT,LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE. JUST TO THINK OF CORN IN ICE CREAM MAKES ME SICK…
October 28th, 2009 at 11:18 pmI would try it to discover if I like it or not.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:01 pmSince I an allergic to white cheeses, I would not try it. (Corn flavored ice cream does not thrill me either).
October 28th, 2009 at 10:56 pmYes, I would – I have eaten other “odd” flavors of frozen confections. why not?
October 28th, 2009 at 10:38 pmYou better believe I’d eat it.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:26 pmOh, sure, I’ll try it!!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:12 pmSure would!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:10 pmI would try it… can’t be all that much different than creamed corn, which I love!
October 28th, 2009 at 9:39 pmIt sounds rather disgusting to me.
October 28th, 2009 at 9:36 pmI love your ice cream!
October 28th, 2009 at 9:14 pmI would try it !!!!! How about carrot cake ice cream ????? Yummy !!!! Ice cream everyday !!!!!
October 28th, 2009 at 9:14 pmSorry, don’t think I would try it.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:51 pmMy husband and I both agree this would not be one for our taste buds. I have to be so careful of what I eat to sweet can not do. Nice idea but I just don’t believe this would be a seller and definately not lobster ice cream I am deathly allergic to seafood. Where do people get these names from and weird types of ice cream. Just the name sounds awful.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:40 pmYes, I would try this. I did try a sweet corn ice cream (don’t remember name of co. but it was sold at Wholefoods) and found it fairly good. There is an article at The Food Channel on the new trend (though it is quite traditional in many cultures, esp. Brazilian cuisine) to use sweet corn in desserts.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:34 pmFall is here ! Turn over the Garden, Save the Corn for Shepards Pie !!Try “Snowball Ice Cream”, T’is The Season.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:24 pmYes, I would try it. I have had corn ice cream in the past, but found it much too sweet for my taste. Cheese ice cream might be very good all on its own.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:12 pmI wouldn’t eat it. Sorry. The corn ruined it for me. Not that I dislike corn, I love it – just not in ice cream!
A homemade ice cream maker up north in Bar Harbor, Maine makes or made Lobster Ice Cream and I tried a very tiny wooden spoon of it and said YUCK! Frozen lobster in french vanilla ice cream. How pukey is that!
October 28th, 2009 at 8:08 pmI would try it, but please Turkey Hill don’t make it, because I don’t think it would sell to well.LOL Linda
October 28th, 2009 at 8:03 pmALWAYS OPEN TO NEW TASTE AND ESPECIALLY NEW FLAVORS IN ICE CREAM. RIGHT NOW I THINK I EAT SOME OF THE GOOD OLE VANILLA TURKEY HILL AND THANK MY STARS THAT SOMEONE IS NOT HERE WITH A SPOON FOR ME TO TASTE TEST.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:01 pmI’m pretty open to tasting new flavors but this one does not sound very good. I could be wrong. Let me know what you thought if you get to try it.
October 28th, 2009 at 7:42 pmI’d give it a taste being somewhat adventurous. But I don’t think it would be a strong seller.
October 28th, 2009 at 7:35 pmNever in a million years, sounds gross. Why not something tasty and delicious like pineapple, coconut, your competition makes a delicious pineapple coconut. Try it you might like it
October 28th, 2009 at 7:19 pmI’ve had creamed corn ice cream in Rehoboth Beach, and it was good. Add cheese and I think it would be even better. I would love to try some!
October 28th, 2009 at 7:19 pmCheese? OK. But, corn??? Never!
October 28th, 2009 at 7:04 pmOK, I’d try it but I’m not promising anything further than that. TH Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, now that is a flavor I’m going to try soon.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:58 pmI don’t think so. I’d rather have RUM RAISON or DULCE DE LECHE.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:57 pmI guess we can try it once and see if it deserves a second chance.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:56 pmI think it looks delicious!!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:56 pmHummmm….interesting. I like cream corn, so I guess I would like ice cream corn w/ cheese! Hummmmmm!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:46 pmI might try it, but I don’t think I would like it.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:40 pmSure. Why not? Haven’t we all tried things we thought we would like…then did not, or tried things we did not think we would like and did. It’s like dating…you just never know!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:40 pmWell, I would try it, maybe a little reluctantly. How bad can it be? What about garlic ice cream? Hmm.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:32 pmI would try it as I love corn and cheese!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:30 pmI DONT THINK I WOULD LIKE IT I LIKE MY CORN ON THE COB ONLY
October 28th, 2009 at 6:25 pmOh yeah!!!…I’d give it a try love all the elements anyway…
October 28th, 2009 at 6:22 pmLOL Evan my husband would go for that one. I don’t know about corn ice cream. I guess I would try it.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:03 pmNaw I’ll hold out for bleu cheese ice cream with a hot sauce swirl
