We’ve profiled weird ice cream flavors on the Ice Cream Journal in the past, but we thought we switch things up a bit in a segment we call “Would You Eat It?” Today’s “would you eat it” flavor is Corn Ice Cream With Edam Cheese. That’s a photo of it below.

Just like the name implies, this ice cream is flavored with corn and edam cheese. Edam cheese is described as a very mild cheese, with little or no smell and a slightly salty or nutty taste. In other words, not a bad cheese to add to ice cream. And before you say “What?! Cheese in ice cream?!”, remember that our very own strawberry cheesecake ice cream tastes like its namesake cheese-based dessert. As for where this corny concoction is from, we’re not exactly sure, but we do know that the photo above has origins somewhere in Asia.
And there you have it — Corn Ice Cream with Edam Cheese. So the question remains: Would you eat it?

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
Naw I’ll hold out for bleu cheese ice cream with a hot sauce swirl
LOL Evan my husband would go for that one. I don’t know about corn ice cream. I guess I would try it.
Oh yeah!!!…I’d give it a try love all the elements anyway…
I DONT THINK I WOULD LIKE IT I LIKE MY CORN ON THE COB ONLY
I would try it as I love corn and cheese!
Well, I would try it, maybe a little reluctantly. How bad can it be? What about garlic ice cream? Hmm.
Sure. Why not? Haven’t we all tried things we thought we would like…then did not, or tried things we did not think we would like and did. It’s like dating…you just never know!
I might try it, but I don’t think I would like it.
Hummmm….interesting. I like cream corn, so I guess I would like ice cream corn w/ cheese! Hummmmmm!
I think it looks delicious!!
I guess we can try it once and see if it deserves a second chance.
I don’t think so. I’d rather have RUM RAISON or DULCE DE LECHE.
OK, I’d try it but I’m not promising anything further than that. TH Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, now that is a flavor I’m going to try soon.
Cheese? OK. But, corn??? Never!
I’ve had creamed corn ice cream in Rehoboth Beach, and it was good. Add cheese and I think it would be even better. I would love to try some!
Never in a million years, sounds gross. Why not something tasty and delicious like pineapple, coconut, your competition makes a delicious pineapple coconut. Try it you might like it
I’d give it a taste being somewhat adventurous. But I don’t think it would be a strong seller.
I’m pretty open to tasting new flavors but this one does not sound very good. I could be wrong. Let me know what you thought if you get to try it.
ALWAYS OPEN TO NEW TASTE AND ESPECIALLY NEW FLAVORS IN ICE CREAM. RIGHT NOW I THINK I EAT SOME OF THE GOOD OLE VANILLA TURKEY HILL AND THANK MY STARS THAT SOMEONE IS NOT HERE WITH A SPOON FOR ME TO TASTE TEST.
I would try it, but please Turkey Hill don’t make it, because I don’t think it would sell to well.LOL Linda
I wouldn’t eat it. Sorry. The corn ruined it for me. Not that I dislike corn, I love it – just not in ice cream!
A homemade ice cream maker up north in Bar Harbor, Maine makes or made Lobster Ice Cream and I tried a very tiny wooden spoon of it and said YUCK! Frozen lobster in french vanilla ice cream. How pukey is that!
Yes, I would try it. I have had corn ice cream in the past, but found it much too sweet for my taste. Cheese ice cream might be very good all on its own.
Fall is here ! Turn over the Garden, Save the Corn for Shepards Pie !!Try “Snowball Ice Cream”, T’is The Season.
Yes, I would try this. I did try a sweet corn ice cream (don’t remember name of co. but it was sold at Wholefoods) and found it fairly good. There is an article at The Food Channel on the new trend (though it is quite traditional in many cultures, esp. Brazilian cuisine) to use sweet corn in desserts.
My husband and I both agree this would not be one for our taste buds. I have to be so careful of what I eat to sweet can not do. Nice idea but I just don’t believe this would be a seller and definately not lobster ice cream I am deathly allergic to seafood. Where do people get these names from and weird types of ice cream. Just the name sounds awful.
Sorry, don’t think I would try it.
I would try it !!!!! How about carrot cake ice cream ????? Yummy !!!! Ice cream everyday !!!!!
I love your ice cream!
It sounds rather disgusting to me.
I would try it… can’t be all that much different than creamed corn, which I love!
Sure would!
Oh, sure, I’ll try it!!
You better believe I’d eat it.
Yes, I would – I have eaten other “odd” flavors of frozen confections. why not?
Since I an allergic to white cheeses, I would not try it. (Corn flavored ice cream does not thrill me either).
I would try it to discover if I like it or not.
NO WAY WILL I EAT CORN ICE CREAM. WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT,LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE. JUST TO THINK OF CORN IN ICE CREAM MAKES ME SICK…
Sure I’d try it!! I like the ice cream base, love sweet corn, and Edam cheese. The combo would be creamy and crunchy, all at the same time.YUMMY!!! Like my corn pudding, but w/ added cheese, and chilled. My very most favorite TH ice cream is Choco Mint Chip. Little fine shreds of chocolate ALL THROUGH THE ICE CREAM!!! Scrumptious!!!
Yeah, it actually looks pretty good.
Ketchup sherbet – now that’s the ticket!!!
I think I might try it because it sounds creamy and delicious with a lot of savory flavor.
That’s just gross!
It’s still ice cream isn’t it ? Of course I’d eat it!
Maybe if I microwaved it to melt the ice cream and then pretended it was creamed corn…..oh! that might be a good side dish for Thanksgiving dinner…mmmmm
I went to college in the midwest with Wisconcin, “America’s Dairyland” and Iowa Corn. Corn and Cheese in Ice Cream, I would try it in a, shall I say, New York Minute.
Go Phillies.
No, I would not like it at all. You don’t see people eating ice cream with crackers, do you?
Yes, I would try it. I just can’t imagine a Turkey Hill flavor that I wouldn’t like although anything minty is on the bottom of my list but the corn and cheese combo sounds very interesting.
I don’t think so. I eat ice cream because it sounds and looks sweet and delicious. Keep trying.
I would try a spoonful, just to see how it taste. It looks good, I thought it resembled pineapple with vanilla icecream. Getting past the looks is just as important as to how it taste.
Yeah, I’d eat it. I bet it’s amazing, and would be even better with some dark chocolate! YUM!
No way! It would ruin ice cream.
No thank you, I will stick to eating my cheese and corn seperately from Turkey Hill Ice Cream!
corn – maybe – cheese – only if it’s cheesecake!
Definately NOT!! GROSS!! I’ll take Moose Tracks or Chocolate, now thats ice cream!!
Would not eat this ice cream. YUK
Definetly. Same ingredients in ice cream but in different proportions.
I would at least give it a try. You shouldn’t base taste on looks. This is not that outlandish or gross. If you like corn and edam cheese adding ice cream shouldn’t alter the taste that much.
Would have to sample it before buying it.
It actually looks okay but it just doesn’t sound yummy. I guess I’d try it though. Can’t hurt. Now, if you replaced the corn with candy corn and had cream cheese instead of edam…that would probably be good.
Hi turkey hills fans, like the cheese not the corn in my ice cream. I make cream cheese ice cream all the time. But to add corn…no way.
I sampled corn ice cream at the PA farm show last year and it was pretty good!
Yes! I would try it. A small sample first would be good. Corn is sweet. I don’t think you could sell it to kids unless you gave it a catchy name. Veggies just seem to scare kids away but it would be another way to get some veggies in them.
I would not buy it since no one in my family liked the popcorn in the Duo mixes.
Absolutely!!! although I’m not sure its as appealing as the other seasonal flavors like southern lemon pie!
Well, it doesn’t thrill me, but I would give it a taste. It might be interesting to serve with pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.
would I? absolutely, its ice cream, its sweet and I am sure delicious
I like cheese with apples so that may be a good combo, corn with cheese….sounds interesting, I would try it – hey it’s ice cream for goodness sake!
lets be like the qween EAR YOUR CREAM AND LIKE IT
no thanks ,not my cup of ice cream
NO THANK YOU! I LOVE your Ice Cream
“BUT” that is just stretching it!
Nope – this one’s not for me!!!!
We have a local Philippine brand of ice cream that makes Mais Con Queso, which literally means corn with cheese. I liked it a lot but now I developed milk intolerance, I miss eating it. It’s actually good.
Is it sweet(like ice cream). I think I’d try it.
I love cream of corn soup and grilled cheese sandwichs but this flavor of ice cream ( my favorite food) doesn’t grab me. Perhaps a butter flavor base and some buttered toast crumbs would entice me to eat it.
Yes, corn icecream rocks!
do not like the sound of cold corn flavor
maybe apple with edam,
pineapple,or even pear but not corn
Sure, I would try it!! I’m up for anything!!
I love corn, cheese & ice cream, hummmm, I might give it a try!
I’d try it once. Twice if I liked it!
