The dessert above is, as the title of this blog entry suggests, a savory concoction known as Candied Bacon Ice Cream. The treat is the work of author David Lebowitz (The Perfect Scoop), who concocted the frozen feast using light brown sugar, cinnamon and lots of bacon (recipe here). The combination of everyone’s favorite early morning snack and everyone’s favorite late night indulgence seems like a match made in heaven, which begs the obvious question: Would you eat it?

Sorry, not for me! I will pass
I love bacon BUT I think I`ll stick with Turkey Hill on my waffles for breakfast!!
With sooo many other ingredients why would anyone incorporate greasy bacon in delicous ice cream? Definely not for me.
NO I don’t think so. I’ll take my bacon with eggs.
We have an ongoing conversation at work that fits this post… What food is not made better by either chocolate or bacon? Now we originally paired chocolate with plain vanilla ice cream but I bet if I brought this for lunch one day, every one would try a spoonful just to see if our ongoing question could work both ways!
Not for me!
NO WAY!! I love ice cream, But thats DISGUSTING!!!!
I for one love my bacon and sausage with a little maple syrup on it, so I’d totally try it in ice cream! Why not? Give me a spoonful and I’ll let you know what I think
.
Sweet and salty is great, but no keep the bacon for breakfast. I’ll stick to salty pretzels and ice cream.
I AGREE WITH DEB. BACON IS BACON AND ICE CREAM IS ICE CREAM AND SHOULD BE EATEN AND ENJOYED ON THERE OWN.
Why not? It’s worth a taste!
Love bacon, leave out the brown sugar
Yes I have had chocolate candy with bacon and while it might sound strange – it was good.

I don’t think so. as much as I love bacon and ice cream–the combination just doesn’t work for me.narking india
Yes, I would! In the last three months I’ve eaten Chocolate Bacon Cheesecake and fudge made with cheese and both were yummy. So why not ice cream?
I might try it.
you know what I said before about taste testing, well I am available to taste test this ice cream for anyone who is making this
Sure!
Why Not?
I like bacon as much as the next bacon fan but I don’t think it belongs in ice cream. Just seems off to me. But my curiosity would get the best of me and I probably would at least give it a try, if there were a sample around. If it were one of my brave days anyway. I’d never make/buy a whole container of it without knowing for sure if I liked it or not though!
Aah … bacon. Of course I’d eat it — or at least Try it.
I can’t imagine cold bacon!
I would try it
That just kind of turns my stomach, even though I am an ice cream and bacon lover…but at separate times!
Well at first I was inclined to turn up my nose, I think I would try it just to make up my mind. Usually those things that don’t sound good together turn out yummy!!
My first inclination was to turn up my nose, but I probably would try it just to see. Those things that don’t usually sound good turn out to be yummy!!
I love Bacon, and I LOVE ice cream but somehow the two of them together does not seem like something I would like!
I would DEFINITELY give it a shot!! Not only do I love bacon, but, after reading the recipe ingredients (brown sugar, cinnamon, rum, etc), I expect that it might be really good!
CANDIED bacon? I sure would try ice cream with sweetened bacon
IF COWS AND PIGS CAN LIVE TOGETHER HAPPILY ON THE FARM WHY CAN’T THEIR PRODUCTS BE HAPPY IN THE ICE CREAM BOWL? I SAY GIVE ME 2 SCOOPS
I watched a show about mixing sweet with strange flavors. Id give any ice cream a try. They were even talking about a pickle ice cream…weird but maybe fun!!
EEEwww Yuk! Bacon, cold, all that fat chewy, it is supposed to be crispy and warm! Not Frozen, sounds like a stomach virus twirling, yuk!
I would not eat the bacon candied concoction, as it sounds like something a person might open refrig and take out what’s left, mix with what’s open in cupboard snack area,
–and come out with a stomach ache plus a few other things!!
Sorry-I am a pure bred chocaholic from wayyyyy back and I will stick to anything Turkey Hill chocolate and yummy.
Make my bowl of ice cream minus the candied bacon, please!!
Sounds like the perfect breakfast to me for the summer !!! bacon and ice cream… how cool would that be ????
No I couldn’t & wouldn’t try it!
Your ice cream is the most fantastic in the world. The fact that it is certified kosher gives many the freedom to try tasting and enjoying ALL the marvelous flavors
Mixing the ice cream with bacon, which is not kosher deprives many of enjoying another flavor
Any of the ice creams anytime, with bacon in it no way.
TO BE EATEN OR NOT TO BE EATEN…THAT IS THE QUESTION…….to be devoured or not to be devoured that is a question………TO BE ENJOYED OR NOT TO BE ENJOYED…THAT IS..THE LAST QUESTION………SOME LIKE IT “HOT” SOME LIKE IT “COLD” SOME WILL LIKE BACON AND ICE CREAM TWELVE DAYS IN A ROW……………
I don’t think the question to the consumers is ‘would you eat it’. I think the question should be asked of you…”Why would you even think about selling it?”
I’m game. Bring it on!
Yes – I love everything in it and would definitly try it! I’m sure my son would too!
One of the best things. I’ve ever eaten was chocolate covered bacon, so I would try the bacon ice cream without hesitation.
I would try it. I love brown sugar, cinnamon and crunchy things.
Sure. Why not?
Yes, I would try Bacon Ice Cream but not buy it!
