After an ice cream shop owner (right) in Kent, England learned that what kids dislike most about Christmas is brussel sprouts, he set out to change their minds about the leafy veggie by creating a brussel sprout flavored ice cream. It should be noted that the concoction also includes chestnuts and cranberries. It sounds like a good way to get your daily serving of fruits and vegetables, but the question reamains: Would you try it?
TODAY’S PRIZE: No, it’s not brussel sprout ice cream, but you could probably put brussel sprout ice cream in it. It’s an ice cream tote bag, and it’s made by Katie Gariepy on Etsy. One comment chosen at random from those left on this post will take home this prize.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
What a cute tote!!
I say leave 2 good things alone — brussels sprouts are good and ice cream is great, but putting the two together would probably be a disaster. Never heard of brussels sprouts being a tradition for Christmas–you learn something every time you come to the Ice Cream Journal. Nice tote bag.
I actually like brussel sprouts so I’d give it a try.
The real question is would my kids try it. I hate to say – I doubt it.
I almost forgot – my husband would also be a NO.
What a wonderful tote to go shopping for my icecream with LOL!
I don’t like brussel sprouts and wouldn’t care for brussel sprout ice cream even if I did. I like broccoli but wouldn’t want broccoli ice cream.
I would give it a taste but I won’t promise I would like it! Bag is cute.
I might try Brussel Sprout ice cream as I like the vegetable itself it’s just something about the mix that my brain would have a hard time with. I do love the tote and would definitely use it…
I love veggies, especially brussels sprouts. And I love ice cream. But I have to draw the line somewhere and say NO to brussels sprouts-flavored ice cream. YECCH!!
nasty
I would try it, but I probably would not order seconds.
I’ll try anything in ice cream form.
I think I would try brussel sprout ice cream. Maybe not a lot, but at least I would try it.
I’ll try anything ice cream-wise.
Well, I’m serving both brussel sprouts and ice cream at Christmas Dinner so why not live it up and mix the two? Cute bag ~ I’ll take it!
I would definitely try it. It sounds delicious!
I’ll try anything once! Vegetables and desert, you can’t beat that!
I love brussell sprouts, sounds good, and I’ll try anything once!
NEVER!
GREAT looking tote bag!!!!!”BUT”…….
brussele sprout ice cream is a bad idea!
maybe if I was hungry enough.
I’m always open to trying new things. I love brussel sprouts and would try the ice cream without hesitation. One time anyway…
no, i wouldn’t even want to try it.
Nice bag!
I would buy this ice cream flavor just because it sounds healthy and a good excuse to eat the ice cream.
I’d rather not.
Brussel Sprout Icecream? At first glance I would say no but with chestnuts and cranberries – it just might not be too bad.
I sure would prefer the cute bag though!
While the rest of my family hates them, I love Brussel Sprouts. So I would love to taste this ice cream and the bag would be great to carry all my Turkey Hill ice cream home from the store!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not for my taste buds. Vegetables belong with my meal and ice cream is dessert. It’s what I look forward to after a meal.
Cute tote bag.
My family would laugh me right out of the house with that one, although that’s one way to get out of doing the grocery shopping.
Actually, I like brussels sprouts.
One thing I’ve found is that you should never knock it until you’ve tried it. I’ve had garlic ice cream, squid ink ice cream, green pea ice cream and various other odd-ball flavors. This doesn’t sound as bad as some of the concoctions I’ve had, so, I would definitely try it.I’ve liked some of the others. This one might turn out to be one of the better ones.
your prize is nice, would come in handy for careing my turkey hill ice cream home
I would give it a go.
Since I am probably one of the few people that I know that loves brussel sprouts, I would definitely try it. Mmmm good
I think brussel sprouts ice cream sounds good too. I’ve had red beet gelato, and it was amazing!
I am not sure about Brussel Sprout icecream, but I do like H-D ginger ice cream. It actually tastes good and is really refreshing. So I would be up to testing the leafy green ice cream as well.
BTW, the bag is totally adorable.
Terrific tote bag!
10th day of ice cream already?!?
No, I wouldn’t try the brussel sprout ice cream, especially since I don’t think I would like chestnuts or cranberries in there either.
The bag is cute. Etsy seems to have a lot of interesting and unique goodies.
You Bet, I would try it! Just don’t put any oils in it and make the ice cream ( I assume vanilla)FAT FREE. I love brussel sprouts. I have them once a week. BRING IT ON!!!!!!
Nice bag, but sorry, I don’t go for brussel sprout ice cream. I like my veggies as a side dish next to the main course of my dinner, not on the dessert tray. Call me conservative or old-fashioned. And I do eat brussel sprouts.
They’re in the frig right now!
I like brussel sprouts, and I like ice cream, but together …….. I guess I’d try it.
very cute bag.Would be great for summer.
I do not think I would like that ice cream-
Brussel sprout icecream topped with chestnuts would be festive!
I would try the brussel sprout ice cream- trying new things is what makes life interesting and fun! Also, cranberries and nuts together are one of my favorite combinations!
very cute tote.
um, I guess I would try brussel sprout ice cream. However, I am sure that the ice cream tote is very cute!
I like brussel sprouts, I like ice cream, but the two should never meet in a cone.
I would definitely try brussel sprout ice cream. When I lived in London 50 years ago, it was sprouts boiled once, boiled twice and then boiled again, so veggie ice cream would be a real improvement.
No thank you on the BS ice Cream. If TH had it as their flavor of the month, they would probably get most of the cartons returned by the stores as unsold.
I like brussels sprouts, but it is the cranberries and chestnuts that would convince me to try it!
I would try it. Cute bag!
Would probably taste the ice cream. Taste, mind you. The cranberries and chestnuts would be good additions…
I would try the Brussel Sprout Ice Cream. I may or may not like it. The ice cream tote is cute.
No Way
Maybe Sweet Potato
Maybe if it was served with butter ice cream; maybe not. Love the tote bag.
I would try it if Turkey Hill made it…….The tote is great for bringing home a lot of half gallons of Turkey Hill for the family.
I would try any ice cream flavor once, and I would love to see what flavors Turkey Hill could come up with. This tote bag would be perfect for grocery shopping!
Probably not — I cannot stand brussels sprouts. Ick! Adorable tote bag!
I’m not too crazy about brussel sprouts but I live the bag!
I don’t eat brussel sprouts to begin with–seems like a contradiction to make ice cream flavored like them anyways.
Damned right I would try it. Turkey hill can make anything taste good when they make their ice cream flavors.
I love brussel spouts so I would try the ice cream. Turkey Hill can make anything taste good. They make the best ice cream in the world.
There are just some things that absolutely do not belong in ice cream, and one of those things is brussel sprouts! Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy brussel sprouts with my dinner, simply not with my desert! Merry Christmas!
I love your ice cream!
First I will give brussel sprouts ice cream the sniff test and then I may try it …as long as there is that delicious peppermint torte featured the other day.
Well, I don’t much care for Brussels Sprouts, but how bad could they be in ice cream? Yeah, I’d try it, just to say I did. Who knows, maybe I’d even like it???
i’d try it….but i’d prefer the ice cream tote!
Brussels sprouts ice cream? Mmmmmmm, no thank you.
I will eat any flavor as long as it’s Turkey Hill ice cream.
Honestly, no thank you on that flavor but the tote is good for replacing plastic bags at many shopping stores!
Well, the tote is cute & I wouldn’t mind winning it, BUT not if I had to eat Brussel sprout ice cream! The tote’s not that cute!
The ice crean doesn’t sound good but the tote is really adorable.
Love vegetables, but brussel spouts one of my least favorite—-wouldn’t try
brussel sprouts are my favorite veggie and i would try it anytime, i think it would make agood ice cream, who knows
I like ice cream, and I like brussel sprouts. Never thought of trying them together, but okay.
Psst – the tote bag looks a little chilly.
What’s next? potato, carrot, cabbage, and all good eating vegetables. I would try anything except onions and garlic. Take the hint, Turkey Hill.
I would try it. I don’t really like zucchini but zucchini bread is great. So maybe the same is true for brussel sprouts ice cream!
SheilaC
Hmmm…I think it sounds good…I would love to try it!
Ice Cream sounds So good right now …
Brussel sprouts with chocolate chips would be OK. It’s got to have chocolate in it!
No matter how good Turkey Hill’s ice cream is, they can’t make brussel sprout ice cream taste good. I know eating vegetables is a good thing, butthat ides is a bad one.
The proportion of brussels sprouts to ice cream would have to be 1:100!
If Ernie and the T.H. team are willing to try it…so am I!!!
I’d have to say “bah humbug” to the idea of such an ice cream flavor! Those people “across the pond” need to get a taste of Turkey Hill and they’ll know what “real ice cream is”! Thank goodness, for the “goodness” of our Turkey Hill! Just another reason why its great to be an American!
No way!!!!!! I tried tomato ice cream at our local tomato festival and that was gross also, and I like tomatos. I can’t imagine brussel sprouts being any better.
Ew No way!!!
I would love to have the tote, but not the brussel sprout ice cream.
I’ll try anything once!
Very cute Tote Bag, wouldn’t mind winning it. I’m sorry, I like ice cream and brussel sprouts but not together.
As the saying goes….I’ll try anything once
not a fan of brussel sprouts, but love the tote bag. Sorry, don’t think I would even try this ice cream
The tote would be great to carry home my ice cream in! My husband would probably like the brussel sprout ice cream-me not so much.
Don’t think I would like brussel sprout ice cream, but I love the bag! Merry Christmas everyone!
I’d use that tote to carry my Turkey Hill treats in!!
:)
I don’t think I would try Brussel Sprout ice cream. Some things just don’t go together. I love Brussel Sprouts but as a vegetable, not in ice cream. Turkey Hill has enough amazing flavors to choose from.
A nice little bag to hold my pint/quart of ice cream for home.
<3 you too, Ice Cream.
YESSSSS!!!!!
I guess it could be like a savory ice cream – kinda like a cream sauce!
I would try it. It might taste better than it sounds.
No sprouts for me!
My children and I love brussels sprouts. I’m not sure we would like them as ice cream but we also love the chestnuts and cranberries. I would try it!
I like brussel sprouts !!!
Gross would never buy it hope you don’t ruin your good ice cream and make that flavor but then my husband would eat it he loves ice cream and brussels sprouts he says it goes to the same place I would never try it.
I don’t like brussel sprouts and disguising it in ice cream wouldn’t help. You shouldn’t mix vegetables and ice cream anyway. Fruit – yes, vegetables – no. Stick to The Turkey Hill flavors and you can’t go wrong.
I don’t think I’d like brussels sprouts ice cream, but i’d like to try belgian waffle ice cream (with strawberries), if you’re looking for a belgian theme.
Merry Christmas all.
I would try it, just don’t tell me what it is first.
well any kind of ice cream will do!
Brussel sprouts are terrific in butter and parmesan cheese! Don’t know if they would fly in ice cream, but if Turkey Hill made it, it would be good!
love these bags use them all the timeneed more hope i win
I tried asparagus ice cream when I was in MA last summer. It kind of tasted like pistachio! Not too sure about brussel sprout though.
COOL! Wouldn’t I be the life of the party if I showed up with that bag full of Turkey Hill Ice Cream.
I love Brussel Sprouts but am not crazy about nuts in my ice cream. I would try it after picking out the nuts.
Cool bag, a smiling ice cream cone.
I very much like the veggie, but chocolate is my very fav in ice cream…neat bag Marilyn
Brussel sprouts!! Yuuuuukkkk!!
My daughter loves brussel sprouts, but I think she would draw the line a ice cream.
I don’t think I’d be trying this ice cream!
Love the bag, but I wouldn’t be toting any brussels sprouts ice cream around in it!
I definitely prefer ice cream over broccoli most of the time, but I could actually use this bag to carry both home from the store!!
Any other vegetable would be preferable to Brussels Sprouts. You either love them or you hate them, and I am in the hate them group. It would take a lot of disguising plus some chocolate to push me into trying it. The prize tote is adorable, will they be for sale?
PROBABLY TASTES GOOD. I HAVE HAD MUSHROOM ICECREAM IN KETTET SQUARE, PA. IT WAS ALSO GOOD. WHO SAYS THERE IS ONLY VAN, CHOC & STRAW???
CITY SHOULD BE KENNETT SQAURE, PA…TYPO
of course I would try it; it has to be better than the brussel sprouts that my mother made me try when I was little.
Cute and practical.
practical and cute.
practical and cute
I want that bag!!
I love this bag and I love icecream(:
