WARNING: The following image may cause uncontrollable drooling and extreme hunger. Please view only if freezer is well stocked with ice cream.

We warned you! Now you have to deal with the consequences of viewing such a delicious photo of chocolaty goodness. Okay, now here’s the bad news: The ice cream in this photo is fake. That’s right, fake. Turns out, “ice cream” used for photo shoots is often not really ice cream, but a concoction made to look like the real thing so it doesn’t melt under the hot lights of the studio.
We talked about it before on the Ice Cream Journal (here). Hopefully you have some real ice cream in the freezer though. And if you don’t, go get some to enjoy with family on this Christmas Eve!
TODAY’S PRIZE: On the 11th day of ice cream, my true love gave to me…a cute little monkey ornament made by emgrace on Etsy! Mr. Monkey looks like he can’t wait to dig into that ice cream cone — or share it with a friend. One comment chosen at random from all the comments left on this entry will get to monkey around with this guy.

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
That ice cream sure looks real!
I love monkeys!!
Not a fan of chocolate, but I do have coffee and cherry vanilla in the freezer.
Cute Monkey… better looking ice-cream …lol HAPPY HOLIDAY’S TO ONE AND ALL.BE SAFE
Now that you say the chocolate ice cream is fake, it does not look nearly as good as it did at first glance!
Right down my alley!!!!!!!!!!!!
the monkey is adorable and the turkry hill ice cream cone only makes him more desireable. however, i think the ice cream should be bananna making them a great pair. My monket collecting daughter would be delighted with this.
I’d take the monkey over the fake ice cream anytime…..although the fake ice cream makes me want to go spoil my lunch with TH ice cream first!
LOVE YOUR DUTCH CHOCOLATE WHICH THE PHOTO REMINDS ME OF.
CUTE MONKEY.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.
That ornament–too cute!
I want the “real” thing! I love the “Lil Monkey” too!
Monkeys are cute, color of ice cream in his cone is fake. Put in good old butter pecan. That color would look better suited to the monkey. Merry Christmas to all.,
Wow, I am so hungry – haven’t eaten lunch yet today – and that picture doesn’t help!!
It’s cool how many ice cream-related gifts you have found!
Merry Christmas!
haha – ice cream scoop “enhancements” – like cone implants!
That monkey is fantastic! Love it, and the fake ice-cream is also fantastic looking.
The monkey should be eating a banana ice cream not strawberry.
He can monkey around with me and my Turkey Hill anytime. I’m sure he would love to share my Banana Split.
Don’t monkey around!!!!
There is no such thing as a chocolate overload! Don’t monkey with my chocolate, little simian.
The one advantage of fake ice cream? No calories.

My son really loves this monkey almost as much as I love ice cream.

Thanks for not telling us what all is used to make fake pictures, ti might ruin someones day, love the monkey.
The ice cream does look pretty real but it doesn’t compare to the Turkey Hill that I have in the freezer. The monkey is very cute, I’ll have to check out what else they hhave on Etsy.
Is the monkey real?
Even if it isn’t real, it looks real enough to make me want the real thing! The monkey is adorable – he could monkey around at our house anytime. Merry Christmas everyone – and a Happy, healthy, full of ice cream New Year!
Not Monkeying around here are we Merry Christmas to all Have an extra scoop
You have to believe the ice cream in a photo shoot is fake. Real ice cream wouldn’t last under those hot lights. Give credit to those people who create the fake ice cream. If they get you to drool then they have done their job.
Merry Christmas to all and to all an ice cream delight!
VERY cute monkey ornament……if your into monkeys!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww, he is so cute and would look great on my Christmas tree.
Awwwwww! He is SO cute! but why is the Icecream pink? Shouldn’t it be brown ( Chocolate theme?)
Are you up to Monkey Business? Would be great on my tree.
What a coincidence…I love ice cream, Christmas, and monkeys!!
what a cute monkey, but i would rather have the chocolate ice cream.
If it were real, forget the lights, it wouldn’t make it past the photographers.

There is no such thing as chocolate overload. Death by Chocolate yes but plain overload no. (Lol) How could you guys tempt a stressed out chocoholic with such a lucious picture then say….it’s fake. Now I have to go down and personally eat that Philly style container of Chocolate just to calm down the Chocolate Police then I can have some for myself & hope that I can sneak out tomorrow early & buy 2 more! Oh & the monkey ornament is cute & looks very chocolatey too!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YA ALL.
THE PRETTY MONKEY LOOKS LIKE THE ONE I HAVE CLIMBING UP THE TRUNK OF MY PALM TREE, I’M SURE MY HOLLY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM TO KEEP HER COMPANY.
I GOT THE TREE IN FLORIDA A FEW YEARS AGO AND IT HAS RED LIGHTS ON THE TOP AND GREEN COMING UP THE TRUNK.
I’d name that monkey Eve, as in Christmas Eve.
I love chocolate ice cream AND monkeys. The only thing better would be monkey flavored chocolate ice cream.
Sock monkeys are my favorite! This one is not quite a sock monkey, but I would adopt him into my family. Good-looking fake chocolate ice cream though.
Chocolate peanut butter in a waffle cone is my favorite.
See, even monkey’s like ice cream.
What a great little ornament! Monkeys are cute and ice cream is delicious…a perfect combination.

Christmas is even merrier with ice cream pictures like that, however the best thing to do, and I already did this, was to go out and get the real thing and have plenty on hand anytime. So when I saw the picture, I just went and got my bowl of TH IceCream and life became much better, love the monkey
It’s after midnight, and we just finished hitting up the real deal!
Ahh, everyone loves monkeys and wouldn’t he look great on the tree. Thinking of Turkey Hill chocolate ice cream, with chocolate fudge sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles….. Merry Christmas
