Today is snow day for pretty much everyone in Lancaster County. On Friday, parts of Lancaster County received 26 inches of snow and today, with a blizzard warning in effect, our neck of the woods is getting another 10 to 15 inches of snow. Needless to say, it’s a good day to stay indoors and indulge in your favorite comfort foods (which includes ice cream, of course!).

Below are a few photos taken here in Lancaster County over the past week.

I wouldn’t mind if it was ice cream either since original vanilla is my favorite flavor. Be safe and warm. :-)

  5. Emilia says:

Very pretty. It looks nice here in NJ, too….from inside!

  6. Linda says:

26″ is pretty good, as far as snow totals go, but I think our Nation’s capital is the winner> Last I heard they had about 42″ with more to come.
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!:)

  7. Ginny Miller says:

Very pretty! Not as much snow as we have here in Lower Pottsgrove Twp., Pottstown mailing address. Got 20″ Fri/Sat & supposed to get another 24″ today/last night. SOOO glad that I do NOT have to go out in this stuff anymore.

  8. John says:

With our sins forgiven, we are whiter than snow,
    Now thats white

  9. Bob jenkins says:

Yes, It snowed here in Buck’s county too! Plenty of snow but not enough to stop me from going to the grocery store for some Turkey Hill Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. Some days are just perfect for Turkey Hill!!!!!

  10. Jeffrey says:

Here in Columbus, we didn’t get quite that much, but enough that I’m already sick of it and wishing for summer. Summer, Turkey Hill ice cream weather!

  11. Esther Marie says:

WOW, I like the pictures and I like Turkey Hill Ice Cream.

  12. Elise says:

While it is not pleasant to drive through such weather conditions, I have taken some wonderful winter photos in Michigan through the years! My dad enlarged and framed one that I took of some pine trees in our yard, and it is hanging in our living room! I am eager to get outside and take some photos of the latest “Winter Wonderland”!!

  13. IceCreamFiend says:

Mmmmm…looks like ice cream weather to me!

  14. Ellen says:

Here in Winchester, VA. we’ve had about 32″ of snow since last Friday. Went to the store twice, forgot TH ice cream both times. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup would sure taste good after the Blizzard conditions today.

  15. marion says:

Looks like we are engulfed in vanilla ice cream–just gimme a spoon!

We’re getting battered here on Long Island with no let-up until the wee hours. It is so beautiful, unless you have to drive! Be careful out there!

  19. Quintin Reitzel says:

When I Retired from the Navy in ’87 I stayed in Virginia Beach instead of returning to Lancaster, into for good weather and last week we had the same

  20. DIANE RADFORD says:

THIS IS THE WINTER WITH THE WORSE SNOWFALL FOR THE PHILADELPHIA AREA EVER RECORDED! I AM ON THE JERSEY SIDE OF THE DELAWARE AND HAVE PROBABLY UP TO THIS HOUR OVER THE LAST 5 DAYS HAD 38 TO 40 INCHES OF SNOW! SAW ON OUR LOCAL NEWS CHANNEL 10 A WAY OF MAKING ICE CREAM FROM SNOW, NOT AS GOOD AS OUR TURKEY HILL THOUGH!

  21. Bert says:

Always look at the bright side of life.

  22. Loretta says:

These photos look very much like photos I have taken here in the Syracuse area over the years. Our normal snowfall is 111.9 inches. 192.1 inches is the record set in 1992-93. fiveroom74.6 inches have fallen this winter with many more weeks left to add to that number. Skiing, snowmobiling, college basketball games, ice skating, and others are great pastimes. Staying inside, watching the snow fall and eating Turkey Hill can not be beat.

  23. Caroline of Manalapan says:

Snow is pretty at the start of winter but after the December foot and Saturday’s foot and who knows what the total will be today I am tired if it. Out pine trees are losing limbs from the weight of today’s wet snow and it is still coming down at 10:30PM For desert I had my Raspberry while hubby was in the Box of Chocolate but he also has had it with the snow and now having to saw the falling limbs before blowing the snow. Can’t wait for spring.

  24. CAROL TRIANO says:

Beautiful pictures. Here in Western PA we have had record snowfalls, school has been cancelled for the entire week and we are in a blizzard warning. The only thing keeping me sane is my dish of Turkey Hill Ice Cream I enjoy in the evening.

  25. Lydia says:

Pretty in a picture especially in another state I live in Cleveland, Ohio so I know snow is and hate it

  26. Lauren says:

Nice pictures. Wish we had gotten a bit more snow up in the Boston area… Somehow, this storm missed us!

  27. dabruner says:

Looks to me like an old fashion snow storm, like when I was growing up in Central Penna. I wish I was there, miss it. Also miss TH ice cream, I cannot get it here in the peidmont of N.C. Please TH considering us that grew up on it!

  28. Edie says:

Looks pretty but oooo all that shoveling. We had enough in southern NJ too.

  29. Jacqueline Seewald says:

Yes, we too had quite a bit of snow although not as much as you did! Didn’t stop us from having our Turkey Hill last night. I had Neapolitan 3 flavors nonfat yogurt. My husband had the vanilla fudge nonfat frozen yogurt. It capped off dinner quite well! We contentedly stared out at the frozen tundra from inside our nice warm apartment.

  30. Keely Hostetter says:

Kids make snow extra fun. We enjoyed making snow ice cream yesterday. Thanks!

  31. Ken says:

    I love your ice cream!

  32. jeannine leonard says:

We are in pa also, with the drifting, I cannot get out my back door and thanks to the road plows, I have enough snow out front to have a private snow fence. The drifts are very high but beautiful at the same time. It kinda of reminds you of mounds and mounds of vanilla ice cream.

  33. Jonibee says:

This has been a long winter..anyone for “snowcones”?

  34. Sara B. says:

It is gorgous outside!! Isn’t this what winter is to be like? Talked to my son in Alaska and it is sunny, warm 33, and they have less snow than we do. Happy shoveling.

  35. icecreamaholic says:

such beautiful pictures! I am in NE Ohio and we have much the same. Awesome!

  37. Marcy says:

The Snow looks pretty and everything so bright and clean, hate when it melts and gets ugly and dirty!

  38. Judi says:

Surprisingly, for a change, here in upstate NY we didn’t get all that much snow. Guess Mother Nature wanted to spread the wealth!

  39. Russ says:

It was pretty at first, but enough is enough. I’m ready for spring!

  40. Christine McKnight says:

I think I’ll just stay home eating Turkey Hill ice cream and praying for spring.

  41. gianna says:

  44. Bob Kessler Jr says:

I live near Washington DC. We just set a one season record of snow with 55 inches. The record has existed for 111 years. Everyone has cabin fever. I certainly don’t mind getting out and shoveling snow. Too much snow is bad but it makes for great scenic pictures.

  45. M. Morgan says:

Maybe the amounts of snow in other places will make Buffalo look good! Ever since we had the Blizzard of “77 everyone thinks that we have that all the time. This year is the mildest winter in a long time and most winters we get a couple of bad storms and that’s it but even then, not as bad as the other places are getting it now.
I still need my Turkey Hill to get me through the cold nights though!

  46. Karen says:

We also got hit with lots of snow yesterday. It’s beautiful to look at but no so much fun to try and shovel out of.

  47. Norma says:

Snowbound and housebound, but with a freezer full of Turkey Hill, who cares!

  48. karen says:

SNOW AND ICE IS JUNK! bring on turkey hill ice cream and teas!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  49. Andilu says:

Whew! That is just how I like my snow…in a picture! Makes me extra glad to live in California ;) The lack of snow almost makes up for the lack of TH :(

  50. Jim in SOMD says:

Been there done that. I have been shoveling snow since Saturday. Then, because I live at the bottom of a hill, I have to wait for the plows to come by and then shovel out the front of the drive again. Too much snow. That is why I left Buffalo, NY.

  51. sandy c from Corry,Pa says:

looks no different than my house or street. We have that much snow all winter. All you have to do to make it thru the winter is order a case of TH and sit in front of the fireplace to eatit.

  52. Mary says:

We live just outside of Washington, DC–now a winter record breaker–and the mayor of DC called the mayor of Buffalo, NY for advice!

today I was out in the snow too and my neighbor said that when she was a little girl, they used to make ice cream with the snow. I’ll guess that it was never as good as turkey hill, but it was a good memory for her

  55. Donna says:

The snow and the photos are beautiful. Thank you snow much for the pics. My husband and I have been outside enjoying the snow with our snowmoto sled. It is snow much fun!!!! I could use a nice bowl of Turkey Hill about now. By the way, the Turkey Hill frozen yogurt is marvelous. I have the chocolate swirl kind. I could eat the whole box.

  56. ida says:

snow is good for making homemade ice crean. but it still doesn’t beat turkey hill ice cream.

Snow is nice even if you have to shovel it.

  58. Debbie F says:

Had enough of the snow already…time for spring!

  59. Jane M says:

No big deal for us here in Western New York.

  60. Mary says:

This is the time of year when I REALLY want to be retired! (Of course I always want to be retired.) I would love snow if I could sit inside and look out at it.

  61. Joseph says:

    we got about a foot

  62. Harriet G. says:

Snow is pretty on the lawns. I do not like it on the driveway because I do not like to shovel it. We were lucky yesterday in Schenectady with the dusting of snow that we got.

  63. Lois Sidelnick says:

Hope the sun melts enough so I can get my car out by Monday. I’ve had enough here in Etown.
