Almost everyone loves ice cream and almost everyone loves lobster. So it would stand to reason that almost everyone would love lobster ice cream, right? Okay, maybe not, but that’s what the folks at Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium in Bar Harbor, Maine are hoping. Though they’re known mainly for their chocolate and candy, the gang at Ben & Bill’s also makes lobster ice cream. That’s a picture of it below. According to their website, “we buy cooked lobster meat from a local lobster pound, chop it up, butter it, and fold it into the ice cream.” Sounds simple enough, but is it simply delicious? And the question we have to ask is: Would you eat it?

I know I’m in the minority, but I’m not a big fan of lobster so this idea is Yucckk!
I think I would try it.
How about just putting strawberry Turkey Hill into a lobster shaped mold and calling it a day. That’s the only kind of red hued boiled lobster ice cream that I would eat.
I’d try it if I were in Maine. Probably not otherwise.
No. I keep kosher, so Lobster icecream would be a definite no no
I love ice cream but I don’t like
lobster therefore this would be a
big NO !!!!!!!
I love Lobster and also love any flavor of ice cream, but I don’t think I’d like Lobster icecream. I think icecream was meant to be a refreshing snack or dessert. leave the lobster out of it!
I would try it since I love lobster. Would probably be very interesting.
I would try it since I love lobster. Would be interesting.
I don’t like lobster but I like crab meat which does have a kind of sweet taste so maybe I might try it if it were crab!
ewwwww !!!!!!
Due to religious reasons I can not eat shellfish or pork. Maybe if lobster works maybe pickled herring next? Or is this lobster ice cream really a prank? Oy vey!
I’ll try anything…once!
i’ll take all the no’s n pass me my bib, lol
yes I would try it. and if I thought it was good I would buy it. As the saying goes try it you will like it lol lol
I think that I will pass. I’ll take the lobster hot with melted butter and the ice cream for dessert.
i think i would i tried hot pepper in cherry ice cream and it was good
Love Lobster…..Love Ice cream…
I’d definately tyr it!
I love both but I don’t think that I would like the two because I like butter with my lobster!
I’ve had it from there and it’s delish! My sister sent it to me for my birthday a few years ago after we saw it on Al Roker’s show on the Food Network. The butter swirls and chunks of lobster in the ice cream base were decadent and divine. It sounds unusual at first, but if you like ice cream and lobster, it’s worth trying! YUM!
I have absolutely no desire to adulterate my ice cream.
I love ice cream and lobster but I wouldn’t want to mix them together. It would take something away from both yummy tastes. Do we know it tastes good? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I would try it.
No thanks. The only way I would eat it is if it was regular ice cream molded to look like a lobster. No lobster meat involved.
Just a few of my favorite things…. Yes, I would eat it!
I agree with the couple other people who said they don’t like lobster to begin with – I’m not a fan! So I wouldn’t want to eat the lobster ice cream!
I love lobster smothered in butter and I love lobster in a cream soup, but some how this is ice cold lobster in ice cream; yes I would try it but am skeptical about how much I would like it, maybe with some hot pepper.
in one word, NO!
I don’t think so, I don’t add seafood to anythi.ng I like seafood cooked alone
I would try it. There nust be a reason why others like it!
It sounds like it could be good…just think of lobster with a creamy sauce, it’s probably similar
I guess the saying should be “try it–you’ll like it”..I’ll have to try it to see if I like it.
Definitely ! Sounds interesting .
I wouldn’t try it as I don’t like lobster. Just give me any flavor of Turkey Hill and I am a happy camper. Linda
Yep, sure would!
I would gladly eat it being a lover of both lobster and Turkey Hill ice cream.
I LOVE LOBSTER BUT NOT IN MY ICE CREAM JUST GIVE A BIG BOWL AFTER I HAD MY LOBSTER DINNER SURE WISHED IT COULD PINEAPPLE MAYBE SOME DAY WE WILL HAVE TURKEY HILL PINEAPPLE ICE CREAM
Don’t think so! Give me good old vanilla!
I would not eat it. What next?
I love your ice cream!
No thank you!
I believe lobster should be eaten warm and dipped in butter. Let it be an appetizer or entree. And let ice cream (preferably Turkey Hill) remain as a dessert minus the lobster bits.
Lobster’s good; ice cream’s good. Why not?
I don’t think so.
When we were stationed in Maine I learned I was highly allergic to shell fish from eating lobster. So a definately no and it doesn’t really sound good to me. I have or am willing to try some of your flavors but this is NO.
Nope>
I really love ice cream and I do enjoy lobster but I think I’d pass of the combination of the two.
No Way..this doesn’t appeal to me at all…besides I’m allergic to shell fish.
Absolutely NOT !
I heard Mrs Jaqueline Kennedy tried it at a shop on the East Coast years ago–
Probably not. Lobster is lobster and not an ice cream. I like fresh mash potatoes but I doubt I would eat mashed potato ice cream.
I do not think I would even try it.
Ernie, If you recall I sent uou an article with a receipe foe oyster ice cream from the colonial days. So why not lobster ice cream?
I love ice cream, but I wouldn’t eat this!
I love ice cream, lobster & Maine. However, I don’t think lobster ice cream is in my future. I’ve had blueberry ice cream in Maine that’s really good& I’ll probably stick with that.
As much as I like lobster and ice cream, the two together do not appeal at all.
Maybe,if it was a free sample.
Well, I don’t think I could swallow lobster ice cream. If it didn’t smell, maybe I could try to get it down.
No thank you. I agree with Linda. I also keep kosher and I do not eat lobster.
Absolutely Not!!!!, but one Great things was the Turkey Hill Strawberry Cheese Cake, served it Valentines Day, using a heart cut out, so they were perfect hearts. What a hit!!!, That is Turkey Hill!!!!!!
I love New England lobster all ways. Ice cream and lobster sounds good.
yuck
No way!!!
I LOVE LOBSTER AND I LOVE ALL TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM BUT NOT MIXED TOGETHER. I WILL HAVE THE ICE CREAM AFTER I FINISH THE HOT LOBSTER DRIPPING IN BUTTER!
Good luck to the folks at Ben & Bills. I have to say this flavor does not appeal to me whatsoever !!!! I would like to know how many gallons they go through in a week…
I would try it but it must be pretty nasty.
EW, no, lobster is gross!!
No, I don’t think so.
Sorry, but not at all appealing to me. Now if you said chocolate that would be different.
I would try it, as I like to try new foods. I also love ice cream and lobster!
no ,thank you, I do not like fishy ice cream,it is not up my stream
gotta love it bring it on
I would try lobster ice ream, as I like lobster and also I like ice cream.
No, I don’t think I would like to try it.
I would not try that combination because I do not like lobster. I don’t think there is a flavor of Turkey Hill ice cream that I don’t like so they don’t need to do the weird add-ins.
I would give it a shot. Might not eat alot, but would atleast try it.
I’ve had lobster in cream sauce; lobster ice cream couldn’t be that much different. Yeah, I’d try it, sure!
Well, sure, I’d try it. Probably just once though!
i would eat it. just don’t butter up the lobster before it goes into the ice cream. i wouldn’t think it needs it. may cover up the lobster taste?
Sure. Who knows, it might be good. Lobster certainly is.
Lobster and ice cream…..not a good mix!
They say never eat seafood then eat ice cream because it will get you sick!
Thanks a new one, but thanks no thank you////
No thanks…I’m hightly allergic to shellfish but just the thought of that combination is yucky! LOL
no thank yhou separately, but not together!!!!!!
That is one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard of. I don’t eat fish to begin with but I am a lover of ice cream… GROSS!!!!
NO!!
Usually, I don’t like to mess around with my ice cream with weird/unusual combos. But, I think I would melt the ice cream with lobster & try it……I think with a rich vanilla ice, it might taste like a good lobster bisque….much of the same ingredients.
They maybe on to something!
It would certainly be worth a try. I love ice cream and I love lobster – what’s the down side? I would try it cold and if I didn’t care for it I would warm it up and eat it like soup. I’m sure, one way or the other, I will like it.
Definitely would try it…lobster is dipped in sweet, creamy butter…why wouldn’t sweet, creamy ice cream be a good substitute!
I don’t think I could do this one.
THANKS BUT NO THANKS. I LOVE LOBSTER BUT ONLY SMOTHERED IN BUTTER.
DOUBLE YUCK!
No, as much as I love a good steamed lobster, I would have to pass on the ice cream. But, I would love it if you come out with a pistachio ice cream that was laced with cherries instead of nuts like the one you get at Chinese restaurants.
Allergic to lobster..not going to eat it.
I love lobster and I love ice cream, but I do not love the idea of them being served in the same bowl. So no I would not try this combination.
I would not try this as it sounds kind of disgusting. I don’t think lobster and ice cream were meant to be together. However, I would like to try a pistachio ice cream with pistachio nuts and cherries – I think that sounds yummy!
I love lobster, but I don’t know about putting it in ice cream. I WOULD have to try it, though. You never know until you try.
Try, yes. I like lobster hot/warm in melted butter, so ice cream doesn’t really fit how I like to eat it. But, I would be willing to try a sample.
I would not eat lobster ice cream. The thought of pieces of congealed butter in frozen ice cream are not appealing. I am an ice creamaholic. Have to go to meetings–My name is Millie I’m an ice creamaholic. Haven’t made it to Step One yet!!!!
my first thought was that i would pass with just reading the email, but in viewing it, i might taste. paula deen would probably say, “don’t hold the mayo”.
I adore lobster with melted butter and I adore Turkey Hill BUT NOT TOGETHER!!
love turkey hill dont like lobster
Try, yes…Buy, no.
My first thought was ‘NO’. But then I thought of the many lobster recipes that use white (cream) sauce. Now I gotta go with maybe. But not a lot!
Cold, frozen butter…not for me!
I WOULD DEFINITELY ENJOY IT. NEAR MY HOME IN KENNETT SQUARE, PA WHICH IS THE MUSHROOM CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, THEY MAKE MUSHROOM ICE CREAM. I WAS CURIOUS AND HAD SOME, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME !!! VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE. THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN V-C-S…
some things just dont belong in Ice cream Maybe Ice, but not Ice Cream
If we could receive a sample–I’ll bet it would be a good seller–Must be like a lobster in cream sauce! Very rich!
it sounds crazy but i love lobster and ice cream so i think it would be worth a try especially if it was in a good rich creamy chocolat ice cream. after all if you can put chicken and pine apple on a pizza then i see no problem in trying lobster in ice cream!!
Lobster and cream!! Delicious. Would warm up the ice cream. What a great combo!!!!
I’d definitely try it! I like to try everything atleast once. You should send out samples to those of us who are signed up for your e-mails!
I think I will take mine seperate however I will try anything once! LOL!
I would try it just to say that I did.
FIRST I SAID NO
THEN I SAID I LOVE ICE CREAM AND LOBSTERIS GREAT
Should I have this with Melted Butter on the side ?
As a bonafide “ice-creamaholic” and
collector of ice-cream memorbilia, I
had to try the lobster ice-cream when
I was in Bar Harbor, last fall. I’ll
stick with any/all flavors of Turkey
Hill and will pass on “seconds” of
lobster ice-cream!
LOVE LOBSTER. LIVED IN NH FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THIS ICE CREAM SOUNDS YUMMY, DOES IT COME WITH A BIB?
Yes!! I simply love living on the edge
NO! NO! N0! That is the worst idea ever! Of course, I do not like lobster; however, I believe that seafood should not ever be an ingredient in ice cream.
I love Lobster with melted butter and garlic! I would try it as an ice cream flavor just out of curiosity.
Oh no, that just sounds disgusting. I could barf when I even think of it.
I would try it, but not expecting to like it. I had garlic flavored ice cream at the garlic festival in Saugherties, N.Y. and it wasn’t bad.
Sounds delicious. how do I get some in NJ?
I agree with a number of others ~ would try it for the fun of it, but I wouldn’t bother buying it ~ not with all the really great other flavors to eat!
Sounds very strange but very intrigueing
Dinner and desert in one bowl. Great for a person on the run. I’d would try it.
I don’t even want to think about it!
Just hand me a spoon and a bowl of chocolate marshmallow frozen yogurt!
The only thing I want with my lobster is melted butter and a bit of salt and pepper. The only thing I want with my bowl of Turkey Hill is another bowl.
I think I would try it my wife I eat anything… I also try anything once..
I would definitely tried this strange ice cream. After all, Dolly Madison was famous for her Osyter Ice cream, as the story in Philadelphia, PA goes. Lobster ice cream can’t be too bad. I’m a Philadeldelphian. So I am willing to try any of Turkey Hill’s Ice Cream. (you can even make it frozen yogurt.
I would try it… I have tried it. It was interesting to say the least. I think it is just a novelty to get you in the store to sell the plethora of their other delectable treats. If you go there, just try a sample. It was sweet and buttery… but also a little salty.
I have tried it, after being pressured into it by a former girlfriend. It was by far the foulest thing I ever tasted. The worst part about it was that I couldn’t get the aftertaste out of my mouth until late that evening (over 12 hours later) when I finally got home to brush my teeth.
