ULTIMATE FLAVOR TOURNAMENT ROUND ONE: THE TEMPTING 32

Spring is upon us, which means two things: warmer weather and the start of the Turkey Hill Ultimate Flavor Tournament.

Now in its third year, the Ultimate Flavor Tournament is a six-week showdown to determine the best Turkey Hill ice cream flavor of them all, and it’s all based on your votes. In 2008, Vanilla Bean emerged as the victor. Last year, Vanilla Bean made it to the final round, but was upset by Light Recipe Moose Tracks, which took the title and claimed a victory for the entire Light Recipe line-up.

Here’s how it works: Each week will feature a different series of one-on-one match-ups, all voted on by you (see the polls on the right). We’ll start with 32 flavors (the “Thrilling 32”), or 16 head-to-head contests, with the winner of each contest advancing to the next round, until only two flavors remain standing. The winner of that final showdown will be declared the Ultimate Flavor Tournament champion.

Of course, there will also be prizes. At the end of the tournament, we’ll give away a one-year supply of Turkey Hill ice cream to one commenter chosen at random from all the comments left during the tournament. We’ll also choose 10 of our favorite comments during the tournament to receive some free ice cream.

As always, Turkey Hill’s “Einstein of Ice Cream,” Ernie Pinckney, will offer predictions and expert commentary on each of the upcoming week’s match-ups, starting with the Thrilling 32 of round one below. Check back each Monday for the new match-ups, and may the best flavor win!

THE COCO-NUTTY MATCH-UP – Light Recipe Coconut Almond Fudge vs. Dynamic Duos CocoNutz!

“Coconut is an unpredictable flavor, so there’s no telling what might happen in this match-up, but based on Light Recipe’s showing in last year’s contest, I have to give a slight edge to Coconut Almond Fudge.”

THE ONE-WORD NAME MATCH-UP – Neapolitan vs. Coffee (All Natural)

“Coffee is one thing I can’t do without in the morning, but I’m not sure if it packs the same punch here against an all time classic like Neapolitan.”

THE PEANUT BUTTER LOVERS MATCH-UP – Peanut Butter Ripple vs. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

“One thing I’ve learned during my ice cream making career is that peanut butter lovers are a very vocal bunch. I expect this to be a heated showdown and too close to call.”

THE TROPICAL FLAVORS MATCH-UP – Mango Duetto vs. Banana Split

“Ahh, the tropics. Many of us wish we were there right now, but we’ll settle for a taste of the tropics instead. I’m calling this race in favor of Mango Duetto, but that’s just a hunch.”

THE COOKIES MATCH-UP – Cookies ‘n Cream vs. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

“Wow, this is an impressive first round match-up. Both of these flavors are strong enough to make it into the final eight, but one of them will be eliminated in the first week. I’m just going to sit back with a bowl of each and let the votes decide this one!”

THE BASEBALL MATCH-UP – Phillies Graham Slam vs. Yankees Pinstripe Brownie Blast

“I’m very interested in seeing the results of this showdown. It really comes down to which team’s fans can get to the Ice Cream Journal and vote!”

THE NOT-QUITE-ICE-CREAM FROZEN YOGURT MATCH-UP – Honey Vanilla Granola Frozen Yogurt vs. Chocolate Marshmallow Frozen Yogurt

“Frozen yogurt is often forgotten in the frozen dessert battle because it’s not technically an ice cream, but I’m a big fan, so I definitely think it deserves a spot in this tournament. I’m predicting a come-from-behind win by Honey Vanilla Granola here.”

THE DUETTO MATCH-UP – Cherry Duetto vs. Root Beer Duetto

“I think this is the year for Duetto to make it far in this tournament. I don’t think it can win the whole thing, but it can be a contender. Look for Root Beer to eek out a win here.”

THE PINT-SIZED STUFF’D MATCH-UP – Tastykake Chocolate Cupcake vs. South of the Border

“Both of these flavors are great, but this looks like an easy win for Tastykake Chocolate Cupcake. But don’t take my word for it… register a vote and see what happens!”

THE LIGHT RECIPE MATCH-UP – Light Recipe Extreme Cookies ‘n Cream vs. Light Recipe Strawberry Cheesecake

“I know, there’s a Cookies ‘n Cream flavor in the Cookies Match-up, but this is EXTREME Cookies ‘n Cream, which means it’s made with chocolate ice cream and packs a little extra punch than its vanilla-based cousin. Everyone knows I’m an Extreme Cookies ‘n Cream fanatic, so it’s no surprise who I’m picking to win this one.”

THE CREAM MATCH-UP – Strawberries ‘n Cream vs. Orange Cream Swirl

“Gotta go with Orange Cream Swirl here, but that’s just a personal preference. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Strawberries ‘n Cream win, though. Decisions, decisions!”

THE FRUITY MATCH-UP – All Natural Cherry Vanilla vs. Black Raspberry

“People forget that fruit was one of the first inclusions added to the earliest ice cream recipes, which is what makes this match-up one of the most underrated in the bunch. I expect both flavors to fight it out to the very end, with Cherry Vanilla taking this one by a stem.”

THE HOLIDAY FLAVORS MATCH-UP – Egg Nog vs. Ginger Snap

“Ginger Snap is a relatively new holiday flavor in the Turkey Hill line-up, but people really seem to enjoy it. Still, nothing says yuletide cheer like egg nog, which is why I think this flavor is going to skate by with an easy victory.”

THE LIMITED EDITION PARTNERSHIPS MATCH-UP – Gertrude Hawk Box of Chocolates (January) vs. YORK Peppermint Pattie (August)

“I know, I know. YORK Peppermint Pattie is a brand new flavor and no one has even tried it yet since it won’t be out till August, but I think the candy’s reputation speaks volumes for the power of this flavor. Gertrude Hawk also packs a punch, though, which makes the winner of this match-up hard to predict.”

THE FLAVORS WITH TWO WORDS THAT BOTH START WITH “R” MATCH-UP – Rum Raisin vs. Rocky Road

“Rum Raisin used to be a holiday flavor, but it was so popular that we started making it year-round. Can its popularity help it get past Rocky Road? Maybe, but I’m guessing Rocky Road will win this one.”

THE MINTY MATCH-UP – Choco Mint Chip vs. Light Recipe Skinny Minty

“This one is truly a coin toss. I’ve looked at this match-up from every possible angle and I still can’t come up with a winner. I’ve even eaten bowls of both flavors and I still have no idea. Maybe I should go back for another taste of each.”

  1. Richard Gainey says:

The Ultimate Flavor Tournament begins again. May the best ice cream, which naturally is made by Turkey Hill Dairy, reign supreme!

  2. Carol Triano says:

Mmm, two of my favorite flavors, banana split and rocky road are in the contest. Although, we think all Turkey Hill Ice Cream flavors are winners !!!

  3. Denise says:

    I love tournament time!

  4. millie buzzone says:

i love black rasberry sending my vote to it

  5. David L says:

Anyone who doesn’t pick Light Recipe Coconut Almond Fudge has obviously been bribed or intimidated by the Dynamic Duos CocoNutz lobby. We’ll keep an eye out to see if the fix is in.

  6. Deborah Leonardis says:

Turkey Hill ice cream is very good.

  7. Cortney says:

hmmmm….it seems as though Everyone likes the opposite ice creams then myself!

  8. David L says:

Are you kidding me, Rum Raisin shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as Rocky Road, much less pitted against it in a head to head match-up. I almost pity poor Rum Raisin, but not enough to give it my vote.

  9. Nancy N says:

Can’t wait to see who wins. A lot of my votes this time around turned out to be for the underdog!

  10. barbara degroat says:

Gertrude Hawks Box of Chocolate would be number one for my taste buds. Can’t get enough of it. Everytime I go shopping & find this flavor, I buy whatever amount I find, because I know it’s a limited edition. Sounds like I’m greedy but if you tasted it you would understand my obsession.

  11. Ray Sanderford says:

I’ve always loved vanilla peanut butter AND chocolate peanut butter, eating them alternately, so they both are #1 with me. Unfortunately the store that stocked them is closing this Saturday and Walmart dictates (as with everything else they sell) the 5 varieties of Turkey Hill they keep in stock. At this rate I wonder how many flavors T.H. will have in 10 years.

  12. Joan Hylinski says:

I am so glad you came out with the Cherry Vanilla flavor. I just LOVE IT!!!!!

  13. Don Gaus says:

I don’t know what South of the Border tastes like, but it sounds good.

  14. Gloria Springer says:

I just love coconut so my 1st and top vote goes to Coconut Choc. Fudge. Of course we try all the flavors so we can vote with confidence!!

  15. gianna says:

Let the games begin! (and may the luckiest ice cream flavor win – I can’t say ‘may the best ice cream flavor win’ because ALL Turkey Hill ice cream flavors are the best…to one person or another!) My preference all natural chocolate! :) (I know it’s not in the contest this year, but it’s still my favorite!) Thank you Turkey Hill for producing superb ice cream!! xoxoxo

  16. jilly says:

my oh my, i’m so mad …lol i gave up ice cream for lent…sounds so tempting….

  17. jonibee says:

I find that the different season offerings are unique but some do “spill” over to the next season, I’m still on rum & raisin. Being a “Gemini”, I like the duo flavors, one for each of my personalities. Hard to choose!

  18. Russ says:

I GUESS I’LL GO HAVE SOME ICE CREAM NOW AFTER LOOKING AT ALL THOSE FLAVORS!

  19. Bob Kessler Jr says:

It will take a connoisseur of Turkey Hill ice cream to cast a knowledgeable vote. Unfortunately, I have not tasted all the flavors that make up the 32 starting flavors. I will have to ‘sense’ what I feel will be good candidates down the stretch. (But maybe this is a good time to try some of those flavors I’ve missed.)

  20. Deb says:

Well, I see Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is in the running……….YES!

  21. Kim says:

Lots of good matchups. I’m not familiar (first hand) with all the flavors…Maybe in the future Turkey Hill could provide a brief product description with each matchup. That way, those voting on items they’ve never tasted would have a better idea of what exactly it is that they are voting for or against!

  22. Robin Ames says:

Rum Raisin vs Rocky Road? That’s completely unfair! Rocky Road will blow Rum Raisin away!!

  23. Aileen says:

The best flavor right now is the Yankee Pinstripe Brownie Ice Cream! I love that stuff!! Turkey Hill definitely makes the best flavors of ice cream!!

  24. Greg M says:

Oh, some of these are so tough, and then there’s the no-brainers, there’s no way I can vote for a “Yankees” flavor, even if the ice cream itself sounds good. I had to guess on some of these, since I haven’t tried all the flavors.

  25. Janet Pereira says:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is my favorite.

  26. andrew proch says:

Need to keep Rum Raisin year round

  27. Fred V says:

I hate voting , they`re all winners to me !!!

  28. MIKEY says:

i think i picked the leading ice cream in each poll!

  29. Peggy M says:

As usual, this is very hard to do when two of your favorites are against each other. The best part is you can’t go wrong with any flavor of Turkey Hill!

  30. Judi Dudley says:

Go Duetto… I love all of these great creamy combinations!!!!

  31. Christina says:

YUMMY. I think some of these flavors sound outstanding, and wish I could find them all in my area!! Good luck to all the competitors!

  32. Tom says:

Coffee ice cream in the morning, that may just have become a new habit ;-)

  33. jennifer says:

Poor, poor pitiful rum raisin… delicious but has no chance of winning that battle.

  34. john carrabino says:

I like coffee ice cream. Maybe you should make coffee and cream, sounds like a winner

  35. Steve says:

Where’s the EAGLES TOUCHDOWN SUNDAE??? I think that is seriously the best ice cream I have ever had!

  36. john carrabino says:

I like coffee ice cream the best. Maybe you should make coffee and cream, sounds like a winner.

  37. Pam says:

It’s not fair to choose between chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies and cream right off the bat…they’re two of the best flavors..topped only by Yankee Brownie

  38. Pat says:

May the best ice cream win!

  39. Van says:

    chocolate marshmallow rocks!

  40. Carey says:

I really wish I could get all these flavors here! I’m working on the grocery store corporation…

  41. Jacqueline Jeffrey says:

Choco-Mint Chip is my all-time favorite–although Rocky Road is a close second!

  42. Chris Taylor says:

Good Luck to all yummy flavors!

  43. icecream aholic says:

This has to be my favorite sport challenge of the year! The TH Olympics!!

  44. Chris Taylor says:

Good luck to all yummy flavors

  45. Carol Y says:

Any mention of the word chocolate and it gets my vote!

  46. Lynette monchinski says:

Where’s my favorite coconut cream pie? It would have won hands down againts coconutz and coconut almond fudge. Since it was not in the running I would have to choose coconutz it has a smooth taste and you can taste the coconut; I’m just not a big fan of nuts in my ice cream what can I say?

  47. CHRISTINE says:

THIS IS A FUN CONTEST. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHICH FLAVOR WINS.

  48. Phillies Phan says:

Great Phace-offs for another Phantastic tournament. Of course only the most Phenomenal will make it to the Phinals. Phillies Phever from Philadelphia: Let’s go Phillies Grand Slam– the world’s Phinest, Phunnest, most Phinger-lickin’ Phlavor around!!!

  49. Paul Fiumara says:

Tastykake Chocolate and Root Beer Duetto are headed for the BIG DANCE!

Where is The Party Cake Ice Cream? I Especially Hope The Chocolate Peanut Butter Wins!!!; Though! :0) Mmmmmmm…..

  51. brenda says:

Ilove them all. I can’t make up my mind.

  52. Jacqueline Seewald says:

    Fun voting! Send samples.

  53. Ed says:

My New Year’s resolution was to try as many different flavors as possible this year. Peanut Butter anything is still my favorite.

  54. Bev P. says:

Coffee and Cookies ‘N Cream are my family’s all-time favorite Turkey Hill flavors. We almost always have one or the other in our freezer. Right now it’s All Natural Coffee. This one is a winner in drinks, too. Yum!

  55. Faith says:

There hasn’t been a flavor made yet that I don’t LOVE!

  56. NEIL P. LINDEN says:

Shame on you Turkey Hill for leaving out one of the top two flavors you make!!! How can you leave The Yankees Bronx Bombers Sundae Light Ice Cream out of the contest? It’s made with chocolate light ice cream & chocolate crunchies with a fudge cookie swirl.

It’s the second best ice cream you make right after Extreme Cookies ‘n Cream. At least you were smart enough to leave that one in. My guess is that you wanted the Phillies to beat the Yankees so you had your Philly ice cream go against the weaker of the two Yankee ice creams knowing that there is no way that Phillies Graham Slam is going to beat The Yankees Bronx Bombers Sundae Light Ice Cream. Play fair! Put The Yankees Bronx Bombers Sundae Light Ice Cream in your contest!

    NEIL P. LINDEN
    NEW YORK

  57. joseph says:

all i can say is,i hope you never go out of business.butter pecan & original
    vanilla.

  58. Maryanne s says:

And may the best flavor win……coffee!!!!

  59. Ellen says:

What fun voting for my favorites. I also agree with Jacqueline about sending samples. We should have had all these flavors to sample while voting.

  60. Joe Longo says:

There is no need to even have a tournament since Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is the best by far. I go into withdrawal when I don’t have any at home.

  61. Michele says:

Ok, now you have me craving ice cream after reading the polls. All Turkey Hill flavors are the best and the only ice cream found in my freezer.

  62. Evan Thomas says:

    Ernie makes good predictions!

  63. E.Hummel says:

    May the best flavors win!!!!!

  64. Sharon says:

My son says party cake is one of the best you make! My daughter totally agrees. I think it is tasty, but my favorite is chocolate peanut butter cup.

  65. Jim in SOMD says:

Many of my favorites are in the tournament.

  66. Andrea J says:

I love chocolate peanut butter cup!

  69. Ed Johnson says:

    Whew !!!!! All that voting …. Whew…
Now I need some Turkey Hill to recover…

  70. Heidi says:

Oh, have I been waiting for this!! I’ve been working hard to try as many different flavors of TH as I possibly could, so I would be an informed voter. No guess work at the polls for me! (except, unfortunately, when some of those delectable sounding flavors don’t make it all the way up here to NY)

  71. Jan Cis says:

last year for Lent I gave up ice cream, but this year I just knew I wouldn’t be able to do it with voting for all those flavors. You have to taste each one before you can cast an intelligent vote.
Glad you took out the last year’s winners.

  72. Ken says:

    I love your ice cream!

  73. Gisele Phipps says:

OK I have voted and NOW I have to go get some Turkey Hill in several of these flavors to make sure I voted correctly. It is a Spring-like day here in Maine and that makes my cravings for Turkey Hill even stronger. I think I’ll stock up because when the inevitable blizzard comes to snow on my parade, I won’t have to go out to the store (if I can keep from eating it all too fast).

  74. Mike M says:

Would like to see a berry flavor win this time!

  75. rebecca says:

Oh my, how could you pair Peanut Butter Ripple against Choclate Peanut Butter Cup? It’s not a fair fight! You could at least spot PBR some votes…. ;)

Chocolate peanut butter cup is the sure winner ! Hope it takes it all!!

  81. Bert says:

    Cherry vanilla for me.

  82. Becky Gainey says:

The limited edition Coconut Cream Pie is the best. Just when you think the limited editions can’t get any better, they do.

  83. Kim says:

I’ve loved your ice cream since I was a kid. chocolate peanut butter is by far my favorite, just can’t get enough of it. I also look forward to your limited editions collection. Especially around the holidays!!

  84. Gloria Jacobson says:

I love your pictures of the snow.
We could give you a run for your money since it snowed for 2 weeks straight. Fresh fallen snow looks great.
I just made a delicious ice cream sundae with vanilla
ice cream, fudge sauce, candy chocolate peppermint pieces and some marachino cherries. Yum!

  85. Brenda Stringer says:

I can’t wait to try light recipe Coconut Almond Fudge. Yum- coconut, nuts and chocolate- what else could you want?

  86. Tom Wright says:

Tough choices. I’ll always go with the Duetto and All Natural flavors.

  87. Kathleen Gad says:

All our family and friends choose Turkey Hill over any other brand. In our house, Chocolate Marshmallow rules! We can’t get enough!

  88. Tom Wright says:

Hard choices, but I’ll always go with the Duetto and All Natural flavors

  89. Carol says:

This is alot of fun! Sure do wish Turkey Hill would come out with Peppermint ice cream!

  90. Alicia says:

I believe neopolitan is the best!! You get three flavors in one carton.

  91. Victoria C. says:

Wow, they all sound like good choices to me! Hmm… maybe I should taste each flavor before I decide….

  92. robin wright says:

Phillies Graham Slam is the favorite flavor in our house. I know its a regional flavor, but fortunately we live in Phillies territory and get to enjoy it!

  93. Mr says:

We like Turkey Hill Ice Cream in our house.

  94. Tim Shannon says:

Phillies Graham Slam vs. Yankee Pinstripe Brownie Blast? No Contest! Philly against NY? Fergeddaboutit! Brownies over graham crackers any day of the week!

  99. Andilu says:

    Hahaha…this was so much fun!!
Can’t wait to see who makes it through to the next round!! Go PB go!

  100. Marilyn Adams says:

As I once heard a little fellow say while the family was getting an ice cream,it don’t matter they are all good! I agree but still chocolate wins all the time with me….great game…I’m game hope to win some of the ice cream giveaway….yeah! Marilyn

  101. Dan Richards says:

I like a lot of the flavors you have in your polls. Another pair that I wish had made it, in the frozen yogurt category, are Graham Canyon and the new Peanut Butter Pie. Those of us, who are lactose intolerant, feel left out. We like treats as much as anyone else. But have fewer choices, due to food allergies. I’m glad that plain vanilla didn’t make the cut this year. :-)

  102. Ann Chapin says:

The “peanut butter” in peanut butter ripple is always harder than the Ice cream, which takes away from the flavor merge. Work that out and you might have a new winner.

  103. Tina Beam says:

I love Coffee, Cookies and Cream, Black Raspberry, Peanutbutter Ripple, Strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Covered Pretzel. My husband loves Cookies and Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookie dough, chocolate peanut butter cup. We love all icecreams of yours. Keep up the great work.

  104. Angie says:

After voting on all of those scrumptious flavors, now I want some ice cream!

  105. Mary Anne Funk says:

I love the chocolate peanut butter cup and chocolate covered pretzel. My absolute favorite was the plain vanilla I used to get fresh out of the machines many years ago when my dad was a Turkey Hill milkman. That was THE BEST ice cream ever. I even took my 1st grade class there for a tour of the dairy and ice cream samples. Things were so different in 1962 :) .

  106. susan lyons says:

Thank you Bethany and Turkey Hill. I’m looking forward to more peanut butter flavors.

  107. JACKIE AREIAS says:

  112. Patty says:

    I want two of everything!

  113. Bill Wilton says:

I fill my gigantic Ice Cream Bowl half full of Gertrude Hawk Box of Chocolates, and the other half with Philadelphia Style Vanilla. It doesn’t get any better that this! Try it!

  114. Tam says:

I love the Tasty Kake Kandy Kake ice cream…..2 of my favorites in 1 product!!!

I love your Black Raspberry ice cream. It takes me back to my childhood when I would hear the sound of the Jack and Jill truck several blocks over and I would stand at the curb with my brothers and sisters just waiting to buy a Purple Fink bar (black raspberry ice cream with a candy coating) Yum. Thanks for the memories and the most delicious black raspberry ice cram EVER!

  120. Karen Koval says:

  127. Stephanie Reissner says:

Where’s the Eagles Touchdown sundae? It’s a sports theme and you only have two sport flavors (representing one sport) to choose from!

  128. Loretta says:

It’s too bad I can’t taste each pair before I make a final decision. That would be so much fun.

  129. Joseph says:

I wish I could eat all these each round to determine the winners.

  130. Regina says:

Wow, decisions, decisions, so many flavors but I’m rooting for Black Raspberry and now I’m off to the freezer.

  131. Linda Hemphill says:

VANILLA BEAN ALL THE WAY! Imagine a chocolate with that rich Vanilla Bean smothering the entire brownie. Add rasberry syrup, a spoon, and hey!!! a bit of Heaven with each bite!

  132. barbara degroat says:

Turkey hill ice cream is delicious;but hands down gertrude hawks box of chocolate is the best flavor ice cream I have ever “experienced”! Everytime I find a box at the local store I scap it up like its gold!!!! Bravo Turkey Hill.

  133. Mary says:

Lancaster’s my home, but I go to school in New York. Whenever I’m homesick, I always get Turkey Hill ice cream! Eating a bowl (or three) of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is way more comforting than a visit from mom and dad! But don’t tell them I said that.
Now, I’m studying all the way in Santiago, Chile and was shocked to find Turkey Hill ice cream in the grocery store! Now I can’t wait until my first pangs of homesickness, so I can put the power of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup to cure missing-Lancaster-itis to the test!

  141. Leah Gluchoff says:

While Neapolitan has a fine tradition, it makes me snooze in the versatility department. Yes, you can throw some flavored sauces and a banana on it and pretend you have a poor man’s banana split, but often the flavor that seems wonderful with one of the stripes, say peanuts, has a certain ‘yuck’ factor with another, say the strawberry. Now Coffee has a mystique all its own, yet melds tantalizingly with a huge variety of flavorful add ons. Think about every dessert coffee flavor you have every had in a fine restaurant, in an exotic locale, and you can make it happen in a ‘chillier’ and more refreshing way with coffee ice cream. The old standby of hot fudge-a soda shop favorite with a ‘Happy Days’ diner thrown in. Crave a candy bar-add toffee chunks, or peanuts. Feeling European tonight? Grab some dulce de leche and go Spanish, or some cold Irish cream and make yourself one heck of a milkshake with a ‘punch’. Want tropical? Sweetened coconut milk makes a cooling tropical smoothie. The list goes on. But, sometimes, just old school will do-a scoop of plain, but never boring, always comforting-coffee!

  142. Uncle Cheapo says:

Without a doubt the best Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream on the market is the Turkey Hill version! The shredded chocolate is awesome and the mint flavor is second to none. This should be this year’s best flavor winner!

  143. Brenda says:

i think it’s fun “putting ice cream flavors up against each other”.some of them you really have to think about before you can answer which one you like better.

My hardest decision was between cherry vanilla and black raspberry. These are two of my very favoritest flavors ever. A couple of flavors I have never tried so I just went with the one I thought would be tastiest.

  149. Vicki Spokes says:

Family favorite is Mint Chocolate Chip

  150. KEN says:

I can’t be tested to select “ONLY ONE”
    flavor!

  151. rob says:

Mmmmm Duetto’s! The vanilla reminds me of childhood trips to the soft ice cream store.

  152. Donna Lukenbill says:

I loved participating…finally, a voting experience that made me smile. I love, love, love Turkey Hill ice cream, its flavor and creaminess tops all others. My all time favorite isn’t in the running this year (Moose Tracks, lite recipe) because it won last year. So now I have to go out and try new flavors…touch job, but I’m game. :)

  153. Don says:

  157. JL says:

These are better choices than my local elections

  158. Craig Kurtz says:

hard decisions but the best part is the tasting to decide and if it ends in a stalemate one must taste them again. The TH ice cream experience is a “good” thing”

  159. Jennifer says:

why not try some tea berry ice cream

Anything with peanut butter and/or coconut just is divine!

  165. ges918 says:

Cherry Duetto needs to get the proper respect.

  166. Aaron says:

Why no chocolate marshmallow (standard ice cream, not the yogurt which can’t compare)? This is clearly the best and most underrated flavor. I guess it could use better PR. In its place, I’ll continue to vote for the 2nd best Turkey Hill flavor, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup. Actually, it looks like most of my favorites are out of this group. Those would also include Black Cherry, Party Cake, Mexican Fried Ice Cream, and plain old Dutch Chocolate. Oh well, maybe they’ll have a better season next year.

  167. Chris Janson says:

Coconut almond fudge sounds fantastic, but I’ve never seen it on the shelves…I’ll be hoping Coffee can go all the way.

  175. Kerri says:

Yay for another tournament and lots more reasons to wash off the old ice cream scoop. My bet’s on Peanut Butter Ripple with its creamy vanilla base and chocolaty-peanut buttery goodness all mixed in. Still that won’t stop me from trying the others too!

Hopefully a Graham Slam victory can make up for a World Series Loss.

  177. Dan says:

    Tournament time, yummy.

  178. Sam Idler says:

So many great flavors and only one winner! Who will be Cinderella this year? Maybe Banana Split or Rocky Road? I am rooting for some 28 out of the 32, I love almost all of them. Was there a play-in game to get into the Tournament? Talk about March Madness!

Where’s Chocolate Covered Pretzel? It’s my favorite flavor by far.

Hey, I was willing to try the Lobster Ice Cream, so ANY of these flavors would be Wonderful in my opinion.

what a great contest–i enjoy it each year!! only trouble is that my mouth waters with each vote–and i hate to drool at work!! but i look forward to trying each and every flavor they are all delicious

Turkey Hill’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is the best ice cream ever! Love all the flavors but for anyone that is a peanut butter/chocolate fan it is fantastic!!!!

  185. Diana says:

  192. Jen H says:

I’m voting now…hope to win the free ice cream!

  193. gloria says:

In case you haven’t already tried the light recipe coconut almond fudge, you don’t know what you are missing. It is absolutely delicious. Tin roof sundae was always my favorite in the past, but I think this new flavor wins out from now on. If you love Almond Joy candy bars, you’ll love this new flavor. And it has fifty percent fewer calories. Can’t beat that! I hope it remains on the market.

  194. Karen says:

I haven’t started the selection process yet but this first round is always very time consuming. I love to read about each and every flavor (the ones I’ve never tries of course) and go from there. I must admit reading the descriptions definately puts me in the mood for ice cream (which isn’t too hard to do in the first place).

  195. Karen says:

I was in a store with my husband a few weeks ago and two of the clerks were talking about lunch. One of them mentioned ice cream and the other one said “I don’t like ice cream”. I nearly fainted. I can’t get his comment out of my head. How in the world can someone not like ice cream? I literally can’t go a day without it.

  196. Kathy says:

There were some tough choices to make but, I did it. With the warmer weather this week, the idea of having ice cream is more inviting. But, Turkey Hill ice cream is good any time of the year.

  197. Cat S says:

I LOVE this! Now I have a real reason to try all the flavors I havent tried yet, instead of just sticking to my favs. I NEED to know which I prefer,so I can cast my(informed) vote.(well this is what I tell myself as I leave for the store to go get a new flavor to try!) Thanks for this contest! Any excuse to eat more great flavored ice cream is a great excuse!

The race between some of the flavors looks pretty close, though one will win in each category…to me they’re all winners..I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream…

  200. jo says:

just voted, even without tasting all the flavors (mostly through no fault of mine because stores didn’t have them) but have had many of them. i’m thinking about how hard it would be to choose a winner with every flavor in front of me, tonight, after eating a soft, heaping, creamy spoonful of every one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!

  201. jo says:

sorry ernie, i forgot to mention in all the exitement reviewing the delicious flavors, your predictions were great!!!!!!

  202. stac says:

What happened to strawberry shortcake (not cheesecake) AND what about a nice dairy free dessert?!? Anyway, anything strawberry tops the charts in my book.

Mmm, Light Recipe Coconut Almond Fudge sounds delicious!

I love your ice cream way too much!

  208. Kim Gilroy says:

Like i say like I say Like I say!!!

  211. Barbara Curtis says:

Peanuttin’ But Net! Peanut Butter Ripple vs. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup – how can you pick a winner? Ummm peanut butter!

Alas my dear southern lemon pie is not a contender…*weeps* I suppose I will have to console myself with a pint of chocolate peanut butter cup..

  213. Maria Mead says:

I love all your flavors which makes it difficult to choose. However, I do not see my very #1 favorite – Turkey Hill Black Cherry – loaded with luscious large black cherries nestled in cherry ice cream?

  218. dmh says:

My newest favorite combo cone is Dutch Chocolate and Light Recipe Coconut Almond Fudge – 100% Terrific and only 50% guilt……

  219. Eileen Berk says:

I pride myself in trying a different flavor each time I shop..Yes. My name is Eileen and I am an ice cream addict. So this voting is very hard on me!

  220. Judy says:

Pick just ONE flavor??? NO WAY!! :) I’d love to see Peppermint Stick … and not just around Christmas! Love the “spicy” ones … cinnamon, ginger. Still love good old Vanilla!!

  221. Ann says:

impossible to choose just one ice cream as my favorite! I love anything with coconut, chocolate, and black cherries. Then I also love all of TH ice creams, so far I haven’t found one that I don’t like!

  222. Paula F. says:

They are all winners in my book!

  223. Barry Kauffman says:

  224. Annie says:

When I die I want to go to turkey hill ice cream heaven. What more could anyone ask for.

  225. Chris says:

Oh my–the discovery of Turkey Hill Ice Cream at my local Kroger store a couple of years ago made me totally change my mind about “grocery store” ice cream! I used to think you could only get really good ice cream if you went to an ice cream shop! No I am completely addicted, and try something new every time. My favorites so far have been the Lemon Pie and Cookies and Cream, but honestly I have liked every flavor I have tried.

  226. Chuna says:

Oh My, Oh My, Oh My, I Love Turkey Hill period. I think my favorite ice cream is Neapolitan. Im very curious about it, how do they separate the flavors in the ice cream? It seems like the lines that separate the flavors are perfectly straight. Ive emailed many companies and never got an answer back. Turkey Hill could you please solve my curiosity?

  227. Cheryl W says:

Having discovered Black Raspberry last year, it is my absolute favorite ice cream. This stuff is to die for!

  228. Ed S says:

Wow, you guys are making my taste buds tingle with this tournament! This first round may be easy, because there are sooooo many favors to choose. But over the next few rounds, it’s gonna be really tough. But I’m pulling for that “melt-in-your-mouth” delight… Choco Mint Chip!

  229. Patti Sherman says:

Every flavor tickles my palate! I love coffee with hot fudge–Yummy!

  230. Andrea says:

Can I do the taste testing, that would be the best……job! I LOVE ice-cream and now that there are so many great “light” choices, that helps too, although, it really doesn’t matter to me, as long as it’s Turkey Hill Ice Cream! I love them them all!!!! or would…if I can get a chance to taste them all! :) (only I’m not really a rum raisin kinda person :( , but if that were the only ice cream left, I would gladly consume it!

  231. Pamela DeLorenzo says:

Holy Dairy Cows Batman! There’s only one way to know which ice-cream is the best; Coconut Almond Fudge or the Dynamic Duos CocoNutz. To find out, stay tuned….hint the Dynamic Duos CocoNutz packs a POW!erful punch.
(Boy, did I just date myself.)

  232. Jen says:

Hands down, Phillies Graham Slam. It is the BEST!! I find myself looking in every store even after the season ends to find the last few cartons hidden in the back of the freezer. And still as good as eating it at Citizen’s Bank Park in the summertime!

Felt like I won the lottery a couple of weeks ago when I found the last Gertrude Hawk Box of Chocolate container at my Shoprite!

  241. Cindy says:

Black Raspberry is an underappreciated flavor! I urge you all to try it. It pairs especially well with all things chocolate: brownies, fudge sauce, etc., but it’s also beautiful with other fruit flavors, like Mango Duetto.

  242. Kathy says:

At Christmas I made an ice cream cake with white cake and ginger snap ice cream. It was a hit.

Ok,so sometimes I might feel guilty about eating too much ice cream but now I also feel guilty about having to choose between some of them. However, if you could mix up a coffee/coconut/chocolate combo I would gladly stuff the ballot box!

  249. Warren - Cherry Hill, NJ says:

It’s no surprise that the biggest landslide of the first-round is the Rocky Road’s trouncing of Rum Raisin by a 79/21 margin. After all, Rocky Road is a universal favorite and always the top choice of my poker buddies when they my fridge (which has 4-6 flavors stocked at all times). What is surprising is that one of my personal favorites, Skinny Minty, is losing badly. I guess that just leaves more for me — yum, yum!

  250. Melanie says:

I can’t rant and rave enough about Extreme Cookies ‘n’ Creme! It’s so good it almost makes me angry. I love it love it love it! Unfortunately I love it so much that I had to give it up for Lent in order to spend more time with Jesus and less time eating ice cream. But come Easter, I’ll be back!!!

  255. Julia Geiger says:

I’m in love with the Limited Edition Gertrude Hawk Box of Chocolates ice cream. I had some last year and I’ve been hooked since. It’s just the right combination of flavors and you’d think from the name and description it would be too much chocolate, but it isn’t. It’s just the perfect blend of everything. I’m so obsessed with it in fact that I looked in 5-6 stores for it this year and even had people looking for me also until I found some. I don’t care if it’s on sale or not, I scoop it up when I see it because it’s so good!

  256. Meg says:

This is fun! What a great idea!
I have to say, we love our Light flavors in my house, and guests never even notice – that’s what is so great about Turkey Hill!

  258. Bruce Schmeck says:

    Looks like they’re all winners.

  259. Elizabeth says:

Oh my … if spending all day every day for the next 6 weeks voting would win me ice cream for a year, I may forgo sleeping, showering, eating and otherwise caring for myself just to vote over and over for EXTREME COOKIES AND CREAM! Who is the genius who created this wonder, and just happened to make it as a light recipe?

  260. Jess says:

Some weren’t even a contest for me. Sorry, but I can’t stand raisins.

Now chocolate vs vanilla will be tough! There is so much that can be done with them; and so much can be said about their simple elegance!

  280. Judy Cole says:

Let’s see…we need to choose our favorite flavor in all of these categories. Of course, to pick a favorite we have to make sure we try at least a scoop of each. Sounds like a tasty contest that it will be a pleasure to participate in!
