Today marks a new era in the history of the Ice Cream Journal. After three-and-a-half years, 534 blog entries and 36,768 reader comments (seriously, there have been that many!), we are proud to announce the new-and-improved Ice Cream Journal design. It’s hard to believe that the old design was the very first one and lasted this long, but it did!
We hope you like the new design. The much wider blog header graphic gives us more room to play with some nice imagery. The old design used only two scoops of ice cream at the top, but the new one has SIX (now that’s our kind of sundae) AND a nice background image of a farm, which evokes our Lancaster County roots nicely. To give you an idea of just how big the difference between the old and new design is, below is a shot of the old Ice Cream Journal header. You have to admit, six scoops are definitely better than two!

Let us know what you think of the new design and if you think anything should be be fixed or added. This is your blog too, so your comments are crucial to making it as great as it can be!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
this looks great!

MMMM Turkey Hill Ice Cream, I’m in love with their Mint Cocolate Chip, because unlike other brands the chocolate chips melt in your mouth!!
Mmmmm much more enticing and makes me want to try all the featured flavors RIGHT AWAY!!!
Good riddance to those pesky captcha symbols, but I do have a question. What is supposed to go in the box above labeled Website?
Verrryyyy NNNNNNiiiiiiicccccccceeee!
The scoops along the bottom of the bucolic green farmland remind me that heaven is probably loaded with ice cream! Yummy:) Nice to have a blog that connects me back to my little kid and away from the cares of the world, for now.
Love the new header! 2 of my favorite flavors made the center. Chocolate and mint choc. chip! How cool is that!
Prefer Turkey Hill to any other brand. Amazing!!!!!
I love the new format. The picture is making my want some ice right now but I am at work!!!
I can almost see each scoop beginning to drip…mmm…delicious… I want to lick it right up!! I think I’m headed for the grocery store after I enter this comment!!
This new face made me hungry so I just ate 1/4 gal of Turkey Hill coffee ice cream and it’s only 11AM. Love your ice cream!!!!!
Like it!
Is it wrong to consider Turkey Hill Ice Cream our family’s fifth food group? We say nooooo! Keep up the good work!!
I love turkey hill ice cream I buy it every week
I love hearing from Turkey Hill and now feel I have Ice Cream cousins! Your name in the freezer case seems so familiar and friendly – like picking up a “family” product. I especially love all your distinctive seasonl flavors — like LEMON MERINGUE PIE. IT’S HARD TO PICK ONE BECAUSE I LOVE THEM ALL (BUT MAYBE THE COOKIE DOUGH RECIPES WOULD BE THE LEAST FAVORITE.) Turkey Hill has a definite edge on the ice cream market because you are always coming up with something new. THANK YOU
Seems very nice, easy and change is always good.
nice
Now if I was going to farm…that is just what I would grow. Six different kinds of ice cream. Looks great…easy to use…and yes…still love the ice cream!
neat and tidy, just like your ice cream.
My favorite is the Dutch Chocolate. You can stir it until it is good and soft and it takes just like the Soft Serve ! Stir a little longer and it tastes like a milk shake ! Love your design by the way..:)
My whole family looks forward to when i go shoppping, they know i’m coming home with a turkey hill ice cream. I like to buy a different flavor everytime so that we can try them all. My four year old son, zacary goes to your website and we play alot of your onlime games, he’s crazy about the pinyata game. So thank you for your great ice cream and entertainment.
Please come out with a basic chocolate chip if you don’t have one. I know I haven’t seen it in our local store! Yeah – turkey hill!
Love the new look and Bronx Bomber Sundae….and the commercials!
Love the new look!!! Makes my mouth water for some of your delicious ice cream…..Mint Choc. Chip, a family favorite!!
The new look is great just like your ice cream. Went grocery shopping today and stocked up on Turkey Hill ice cream for the big 4th weekend. It will be a Happy Fourth of July for us.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Coconut cream has got to be the all time best,Vanilla Moose Tracks is 2nd but GOOD ice cream is always great.I found Turkey Hill at Krogers and I am 63 yrs.young so I do have experience at tasting.
Very Yummy And Appealing – Just Bought 2 Containers of Turkey Hill Ice Cream Last Night. Didn’t Get A Chance To Eat Any Last Night, After See The Scoops Of Ice Cream I Can’t Wait To Get Home Ane Eat Some.
The new Ice Cream Journal looks “Delicious”.
I remember years ago, I drove about 50 miles to another state to visit the Turkey Hill Ice Cream truck. I left with a box of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream cups, and had so much fun finding people to help me eat all the ice cream! One of the easiest things I’ve ever done! Thank you, Turkey Hill, for more delicious flavors of ice cream!
Looks really neat here, and love the ice cream
The Ice Cream journal looks delicious… “Ice Cream, Ice Cream we all scream for Ice Cream”!
I love the new blog page! The 6 scoops of ice cream at the top are so welcoming and inviting, I think I will eat some right now! Turkey Hill rocks!!!
Prior to 2001, Turkey hill used to sponsor their ice cream products in Battery Park City, Near the World Trade Center on weekends. One of these days, the kids kept on going back to buy more ice cream. Probably we had used over 10 cone. It was time for the seller to leave and my kid was on line for more ice cream, the seller gave him the left over of the whole bucket (may be more than a gallon) for the price of a cone.
Good memory or am I getting older. Delicious to last drop.
Those scoops of ice cream are making me drool!
I look at that photo and think – why am I here in work when I can be having an ice cream break! Look at all those yummy flavors, how can you pick! I know I love the taste, the texture and variety of flavors that Turkey Hill offers. Thanks for a great product.
I have to admit that I never used to buy Turkey Hill but one day our store had it on sale for $1.99. So I bought 2 Butter Pecans and could not believe the size of the pecans. Well I’ll tell you, I am hooked on Turkey Hill. How many flavors do you have that has nuts in them? Page looks great!!
love you guys cause your products rock. Miss you out in California better get cracking and expand.
This a great opportunity for myself and my wife to stock up on all our favorite flavors of TH ice cream, that is if we win the contest or our blog is selected. Our budget since retirement and our cutting back on the sweets has meant a reduction in purchases of all sweets. We do indulge a few times a week, but the grandkids are over often and wipe us out. To have their choice of flavors to choose from would be absolutely mind blowing for them. Of all the ice cream they have with us and at their home, the flavors and quality of TH ice creams are their favorite and the best. Dedicated grandparents and TH ice cream lovers.
I have to say Turkey Hill has the best ice cream.. Here are some of my favorites 1. rocky road, 2. vanilla fudge 3. cookie dough 4. butter pecan 5. cookies n cream. 6 banana split. We done Turkey Hill. I love you Ice Cream.

Hi there! I was never an icecream lover but one night my husband was eating turkey hill pistacio and I tasted a bit of it. Well all I can say is turkey Hill is the BEST ice cream I ever ate!!!! Thank you for all the delicious flavors that you make!
Sincerely,
Jo ( Josephine)

We’re celebrating in our household because our daughter just returned from a study abroad semester in New Zealand. Therefore, I stocked up on – what else – Turkey Hill at the grocery store today. There’s no better way to celebrate than capping off a delicious meal, thanks to my husband’s talents, with Chocolate Nutty Moose Tracks, or Extreme Cookies n’ Cream, or Skinny Minty, or Strawberry Cheesecake or…well, you get the idea.
I don’t know if it’s my fondest memory but it’s ceyoung chirtainly one my sisters and I still talk about. When we were small children and were allowed to get ice cream cones, our mother would never get one. BUT she,d take each of ours to just lick a little off the top so it wouldn’t fall out. When we got them back there was NO scoop of ice cream on top! Only the ice cream inside the cone was left! We complained but to no avail. Maybe that’s why, to this day, ice cream is my most favorite food in the world and Turkey hill is the best!
,
Couldn’t celebrate national ice cream month without Turkey Hill! You guys are the best.I don’t think that I can choose just one favorite flavor though.Love everything about you.The website is cool too.I have fun playing the games.I look forward to your emails and seeing what new and exciting things are happening.Keep up the good work.
Wow, oh wow, oh wow! Enough said? Turkey Hill ice cream, Wow! The best-tasting ice cream ever! Wow, the flavors, the limited edition flavors! This ice cream must come from the best fed cows in the world! Wish I lived by the farm, I’d be there every day licking up that frozen deliciousness!
Just remember Turket Hill Ice Cream soothes a sore throat and helps the medicine go down.
Don’t know how the old journal style was, but this works for me. I buy T.H. for my family, but I’m left out being lactose intolerant. Any chance they might make some even if it’s in the small pint-sized containers? Would rather buy T.H. than the other brands.
I contacted you the beginning of the year since we did not recieve “Ginger Snap” at our local grocery. I did as you suggested and talked to our frozen food manager and in just a few days we had the flavor in our store. We love it and it flys off the shelves.
Thanks for making so many great flavors. We love them all.
Marsha Iddings
Your ice cream is the finest i have ever tasted . I look foward to trying your limited edition flavors each year .I would rather have a dish of turkey hill ice cream than any other desert.Keep making this perfect ice cream and i will keep eating all of it you make . I am in Ice crean heaven
4th of July wouldn’t be a special holiday without family, friends and TH. To commemorate this holiday, we will celebrate with red, white and blue – vanilla TH ice cream with blueberries and strawberries. Not only will we enjoy this refreshing dessert but we will be eating healthier with the fruit. The possibilities with your ice cream are endless. It makes eating dessert more enjoyable knowing we made a wiser/healthier choice. Thank you for so many good years!
I just returned home with two cartons of Turkey Hill Ice Cream. One is never enough for me and my husband. He eats his in a bowl and I eat mine on a cone. I buy no added sugar fat free chocolate and light flavors, like butter pecan. We love ice cream and this is our dessert almost every night. Turkey Hill is our favorite. We have tried many companies and still go back to TH. Thanks for a great product. (On another note, I purchased two half gallons of TH diet iced tea, and WOW. It is delicious).
MY WIFE AND I ARE BOTH 75 YEARS PLUS IN AGE AND WE STILL THINK TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM IS THE BEST ON THE MARKET.
WE DISCOVERED TH IN MIDDLE AGE AND HAVE BEEN ENJOYING IT EVER SINCE.
OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN HAVE BEEN WEENED ON TH THANKS TO CARING GRAND PARENTS.
WITH AGE COMES WISDOM AND WISDOM (AND THE PALLET) DICTATES WHAT THE BEST ICE CREAM ON THE MARKET IS.
AND ANOTHER KUDO TO TH FOR MAKING THEIR ICE CREAM THE OFFICIAL ICE CREAM OF THE NY YANKEES, MY TEAM
I love the new design. The hillside in the background is just wonderful and does make me think of Lancaster County and the good times I spent (and will continue to spend) in that area. It is definitely one of the nicest places in the world.
Well what can I say but thank goodness for Turkey Hill,Love it.
Not too many Flavors of your wonderful Turkey Hill I do not like. At 77 I think back to when I was a child and we were taken to Producers Dairy in Massachusets where I grew up and it was the thrill of my young life, but I found that one cone would not do it for me and kept begging for more. Needless to say that my Mother was not amused, she stopped the car put me out on the side of the road and started down the street. Well I was thankful to her for coming back , but I must tell you it did not change my great love for Ice Cream and I am still at it. PS My Husband may be putting me out on the side of the road soon!! I still love it love it! love it.
I have to say I get really sad when some months end and its mostly because that means the feature flavor is going to change…is that normal?
Love Turkey Hill ice cream and just bought two kinds this week, lemon pie and choc chip ( my most favorite)!
I love Turkey Hill ice cream!! I eat it 4 or 5 days a week because it is so good!!
My husband and I are Ice cream-onistas!! We eat it all year long. My husband puts a little in his coffee instead of creamer—he says it flavors the coffee. I think its just an excuse to eat ice cream for breakfast! We love all the products TH comes out with. It is so refreshing to have a company that you honestly trust and can try a new product with confidence. The fact that this company is right here in Pa. makes me especially proud!! The Dido song keeps going through my mind “I want to thank you”
Thank You TH!!
As I have sent messages to you at the turkey hill website I decided to do the blog thing. I am such a creature of habit.
every night I have Turkey Hill vanilla and chocolate ice cream on a cone. I mean a big jumbo cone. That one box of ice cream lasts maybe 4 days. My husband on the other hand has turkey hill cherry vanilla or butter almond, occasonially he will have coffee flavor. I just left for a long week-end at the shore and before I left I went to our local supermarket and bought 2 boxes of turkey hill ice cream. I wanted to be sure it would be there when I got home from the long holiday week-end. Oh yes, I already have some here at my little shore trailer. There is a saying don’t leave home without it. Well I make sure I don’t leave home unless there is some there for when I get back. My favorite ice cream has always been turkey hill. How ironice that my great freinds down here at the shore are from Lancaster county where the turkey hill ice cream is made.
Yes, it is finally Ice Cream month my favorite month of the year. Thanks Turkey Hill–keep on making the best coffee ice cream ever!!!!
I love your ice cream! But I especially like all your specialty changes with the different seasons. There are some that have “gone away” but your teams always come up with another recipe that makes me forget how much I missed one of your seasonal ice creams. Thank you so much for the high quality and your exciting changes!
I’m always amazed at the various flavors of Turkey Hill Ice Cream. I’d love to try the new “Double Dunker.” But, alas, no Turkey Hill Ice Cream here in the San Francisco Bay Area!
One of my favorite summertime memories was when my mom would cut a cantelope in half, scoop out the seeds and fill the hole with ice cream. My cousins and would grab spoons and dig out sections of the melon with the ice cream. Of course, money was always a little tight so sometimes my mom bought the “on sale” ice cream. We would still eat it….let’s face it, it was still ice cream, but we used to fight when it was Turkey Hill. You could see the difference in texture and the taste was beyond compare!! I still love my Turkey Hill ice cream. I stick with simple flavors like vanilla & chocolate or fudge swirl. My absolute favorite was Butter Brickle. I miss that one lots. Maybe it could come back for a little while? Noboby does ice cream like………TURKEY HILL!!
Although Turkey Hill ice cream is great to eat all year long, Being July is National Ice Cream month, I now have a great excuse to induldge everyday.
My daughter participates in the Special Olympics summer games in NJ and every year we look forward to the Turkey Hill stand. The sign of the cow makes our mouth salivate as we stand in line and enjoy the newest flavors of that famous Turkey Hill Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt, not to mention the yummy drinks. I enjoy the Diet White Peach Tea and Diet Green Tea with mango. For our family, ice cream and frozen yogurt are our special (almost daily) treat during the warm summer months. For our family, summer = ice cream and Turkey Hill is our favorite. Thanks for tempting us for those new flavors. Can’t wait to try them.
I look forward to the calandar each year with the listing of various flavors for the coming months. I use the coupons that accompany it. My favorite dessert has always been ice cream, but now I choose turkey hill. It’s very creamy, especially the butter pecan flavor. When my mother lived with me, she enjoyed the frozen yogurt flavor, but I can’t recall the name. It does bring back pleasant memories though. Thank you
Here at my house we started our National Ice Cream Month off with rootbeer floats made with Turkey Hill vanilla bean ice cream. Yum!
I love Turkey Hill Ice Cream. Since July is National Ice Cream Month I am going to try a different flavor every day for the month of July. Keep up the good work, your products are wonderful.
Dear Turkey Hill family,
Each July my sister & I look forward to “National Ice Cream Month”! Hallelujah, it’s finally here!!! We used to go to the local ice cream stands to get our fill, BUT since Turkey Hill has come to Johnstown stores, it’s “THIC” each day. Yours is the smoothest, creamiest and most flavorful of any we’ve tried. Thank you and your staff for the delicious products you constantly give us “Ice Cream Lovers!”
There is only one…It has to be…Turkey Hill Ice Cream! All year long, but especially the month of July. And not only ice cream, everything you make is better- iced tea, milk. I shop at Turkey Hill at minimum twice weekly. I’m working on trying all the flavors but it’s going to take a while! Keep up the great work!
No matter which kind of Turkey Hill ice cream I have, I just love all of them. I don’t have a favorite.
I love the home page. Especially since it shows some of my favorite ice creams!
Do you think you could change the flavors of the header graphic as the seasons change? You could feature the flavors offered during that particular season. Also, it looks like you have 4 double scoops and two single scoops of ice cream for a total of ten scoops of ice cream instead of the six that you claim. Nevertheless, ice cream is what Turkey Hill is all about.
Some random and personal biographical facts:
I was born in Richmond, Va., in 1923. By 1930, ice cream became
special to me and Southern Dairies was my favorite brand. Of course, I didn’t know what “brand’ meant at the time, but I knew what “good and creamy” meant.
My first job, at 15, was at the neighborhood drug store – making deliveries on a bicycle and clerking and “soda-jerking” inside. Behind the counter I made milkshakes and served dishes of Southern Dairies ice cream, usually sundaes and banana splits. Wow! What a place to work! That set the stage for my love of Turkey Hill, which began for me – and my wife – about 20 years ago. Now widowed and living alone, I still find that Turkey Hill has a short shelf-life in my refrigerator’s freezer. Currently, three flavors are in there!
Having good ice cream on hand is one of the things that continue to bring me joy.
Oh what memories these short stories have stirred up in my mind..now our grandchildren will have their memories of having Turkey Hill IceCream.
With a name like “TURKEY HILL”,
you have to be make delicious ICE CREAM.
I LOVE MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP. IT’S MY FAVORITE. ONLY TURKEY HILL WILL DO. IT HAS THOSE TINY SHAVED CHOCOLATE BITS. MY MOUTH IS WATERING JUST THINK ABOUT IT. MINT CHIP IS MY FAVORITE AND TURKEY HILL MAKES THE ONLY ONE I LIKE. I ALSO HAVE MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER THAT ARE CHOCOCHIPOHOLICS. WE CAN GO THROUGH A CONTAINER IN ONE NIGHT. WE ONLY EAT TH. NO OTHER COMPANY MEETS OUR STANDARDS!!!!!
When I think of good ice cream, I can only think of Turkey Hill. It is so creamy and natural tasting and it doesn’t get rock hard in the freezer so it’s easy to scoop out of the container. I conducted a survey among all my friends and Turkey Hill won hands down as the best icecream. I especially love chocolate marshmallow and mint cookies and cream which satisfy my cravings.
You guys and girls do a great job. I love your ice cream. I was away last week and came home to my fridge/freezer being off due to a blown circuit breaker. My husband was sad to have to get rid of all the beef and sausages, I was more sad to throw out all my TH ice cream.
I need to go to the store this weekend. I can’t believe I have NO ICE cream in my house. I may not have bread or milk in the house, but I always have your ice cream. Well, before this week.
Keep up the good work. xoxoxo
Best ice cream for all seasons especially in the winter. I like the season and natural ice creams but want even more flavors.
ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS MY FAMILY LOVES TH ICE CREAM BESIDES THE FLAVOR, AFFORDABILITY, WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS AND TERRIFIC WEB SITE IS THE INNOVATIVE FLAVORS THAT YOU GUYS COME UP WITH. IT’S SUMMER TIME AND IT’S HOT AND I HAVEN’T SEEN FLAVORS LIKE WATERMELLON OR HONEYDEW. HOW DOES THAT SOUND FOR A HOT SUMMER DAYS TREAT? KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
I was hesitant the first time I tried “Turkey Hill” ice cream but one creamy bite and I was in love! Love the new banner, it makes me want to try every flavor!
In June, for my most successful writing students, I offered an ice cream social luncheon for students who scored 10, 11, or 12 on their persuasive writing. These are the high scores for the CT SAT’s. Thirteen students won that award and it was a plesure to serve them their favorite flavor of TH ice cream, as it is mine, as well…mint chocolate chip. I put out waffle cups, in which to serve the ice cream so that they could eat their dish, as well as the ice cream. My students shared how much they all loved TH and had it in their own freezers at home. We had a discussion on flavors and favorite ways to serve it. I offered them serveral different toppings such as hot fudge, bananas, jimmies (colored candied shots), whipped cream, etc. Many of them just enjoyed the ice cream in their waffle bowls with a little hot fudge. Rewards are always intrinsic, but when the are extrinsic rewards they should always include incream, TK, of course. Sharon L
Love all your light flavors as well as regular ones.
love all of your light flavors of ice cream as well as the regular ones.
i like the new design a lot! The wider format looks great!
But the footer is SO BIG. It cuts off quite a lot of blog. Othwrise I love it!!
Oh I just realized that the bottom moves up! That info and search could easily be move to the side or top That is really annoying to have it po up like that – and cover even more of the blog!

The luscious line of Turkey Hill Scoops at the top of the new Ice Cream Journal page looks so totally tempting!
It’s all I can do to keep from LICKING my Computer Screen. SLURP !
Six scoops are definitely better than two!
For the July 4th celebration we made Patriotic sundaes using Turkey Hill Vanilla with fresh strawberries and blueberries on top. Everyone agreed that Turkey Hill makes the best tasting and creamiest vanilla ice cream! THE BEST!
love ice cream any where anytime
Cool about the new design! As for improvements – my preference would be to be able to read all of the comments on one page, and I agree with others about the footer being cumbersome.
Six scoops is always better than two.
