We asked Delia L. of Little Rock, Arkansas the question, “If you could give an ice cream cone to five people in the world, who would you choose?” She happily responded and her answer — at least one of them — will make everyone very happy! Speaking of happiness, as we enter the final days of National Ice Cream Month, don’t forget to celebrate with a big bowl or cone of your favorite flavor!
If I were magically able to give ice cream cones to five people, I would use them to highlight people who brighten my day and to brighten the day for other random people. Here we go!
I first started watching him on Late Show with Conan O’Brien during the writers’ strike from a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I was disappointed when he left Tonight Show, but soon after, he joined Twitter and has been cracking me up every day in 140 characters or less. Look out for his TBS show coming later this year!
Jen Yates
She founded Cake Wrecks just for kicks, but the blog has developed a huge following of people who love hilarious cakes and commentary that has led to the bestselling book Cake Wrecks: When Professional Cakes Go Hilariously Wrong. Beyond the humor, though, Jen and her husband John are kind, generous people who featured various charities on the blog during the holidays last year to raise awareness for important causes.
A distance runner
I love the endorphins from running races, but the large selection of food and drink waiting at the finish line is most definitely motivating too. Ice cream is always a welcome treat but especially after covering miles upon miles. Let’s give it up for running and physical fitness!
A small child
Kid + ice cream = joy and cuteness combo
.
Last but not least, YOU!
This choice is sort of like when Time named “you” Person of the Year in 2006, but in my perfect world, I would want to bring delicious ice cream and happiness to way more than five people. Happy National Ice Cream Month, everyone!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.

I’ll take it! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the ice cream cone offer, but I’ll take a double serving in a dish
Why waste calories ona flavorless cone when you can just substitute in more ice cream instead! And since I am a distance runner, would I get too? And I do feel like a kid at heart, and am just graduating from college so I feel like I could try and negotiate out 3 of those cones. Not bad…and Turkey hill did encourage me to celebrate the last week of ice cream month with a bowl for myself…so that is like 4 servings all in one day. Unfortunately I am still at work now just dreaming of ice cream that awaits me in my freezer when I return home tonight. Who knows…maybe I’ll shake things up and eat my ice cream BEFORE dinner tonight instead of after for dessert like I normally do.
thanks for the cone, I hope it is vanilla. when I give out mine, I will include you
I love your ice cream!
Thanks! I’ll have a chocolate chip mint.
I’ll have Chocolate Peanut Butter.
My 5 would be my 5 grandchildren who do so much for me. They refuse money, so ice cream is their wish for payment. Double dips to them all.
Thanks for the cone, but I prefer mine in a bowl with lots of room to spoon, swirl, and slurp!
make mine a triple dip
What a wonderful woman to think of you! I hope included included herself in you. I hope to have the new peanut butter ice cream cone, I’d better get it soon since it is only a feature special.
Did we recently have this before? The first three would go to my grand children and the other two to 2 people (child and/or adult) who is sad and needs cheering up
Delia L thought long and hard about the five people to which she would give ice cream cones. I don’t think she left out anyone. That would be a lot of cones filled with Turkey Hill ice cream. Wouldn’t that be a photo opportunity!!
Thanks for the offer of ice cream!
For my part I’d give the 5 cones to myself (and barring that, friends and family, but no celebrities or strangers).
I’ll have the Chocolate Chip Mint also.
Thanks Delia and here’s a cone from me to you. Hope you’ve eaten lots of ice cream during this National Ice Cream Month.
Thanks I will have Moose Tracks!
I think I would give cones to the homeless and elderly that have no family and would cheer them up.
Thanks Delia for a great blog. My cone choice is black cherry.
This was hard one to do. Thanks! Coffee please.
Wow, that’s a interesting and motley assortment of people…
Sorry, but CONE-an O’Brien wouldn’t be on my list – not that I dislike him, but I wouldn’t waste a cone on someone who makes a trajillion dollars a year more than anyone in my family. He could buy his own dairy.
My 5 cones would go to people who live in unfortunate circumstances, in parts of the world where they’ve never even had ice cream before.
Good choices, Delia! I would not have specific people in mind to receive cones. Random acts of kindness would surely bring happy smiles to five faces of folks I don’t even know.
Nice selections, a little random but well thought out. For me, it’s a no brainer. I have 5 people in my family so I would give an ice cream cone to each one of them. Ice Cream = Love.
I would find five kids who had no money and treat them
Okay five cones….. ..someone who saves peoples lives..firefighter..police..doctor armed forces… nurse etc…someone who saves animals…..Okay really my mom an dad for dealing with me as a teenager an President Obama he has one of the hardest jobs!!!!!
I think my husband would eat my 5 cones before I had a chance to give them out to people who deserved them more. He is an ice cream-aholic.
Whoever you pick to give the 5 icecream cones to am sure it would make them happy. Mine would be to my immediate family my support systems. For this occasion we would use cones but we prefer dishes of icecream as it is easier to make sundaes. By the way the july feature flavor chunky peanut butter is awesome with lots of thick PB chunks which I love. Keep it forever not just as a feature flavor!!!!!!!!!
It has been a good, hot ice cream month. I know it is hard to keep my freezer stocked!
my pick would be 5 poor children who never get ice cream
I’ll have raspberry. Thanks for you thoughtfulness.
Make mine a double scooper…..one chocolate, one party cake. Thankss
Hi Turke Hill Fans, I would give the first one to God Our Father, if he was lived, one to each of my grand son, last one will go to me. I love to share my ice cream with everyone.
My family, first my three sons, then my husband and then me.
Thanks for the cone–the ice cream was yummy! Either my son or my dog would get the cone.
Thank you for the cone — I Never refuse food … especially ice cream!!
What kind of ice cream is Conan supposed to be eating? It looks like he is not very happy with it. You probably needed to give him a flaovor of his own choosing. I’ll take Peanut Butter Chocolate please.
