PUTTING A WORLD RECORD IN PERSPECTIVE
Posted by Turkey Hill Team on August 12th, 2010
In Tuesday’s post about competitive eater Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti and his world record of 1.75 gallons of ice cream eaten in eight minutes, loyal Ice Cream Journal reader Karen requested (with a comment) a photo of what 1.75 gallons of ice cream looks like. It’s a good question, Karen, which is why we put together the graphic below.

No that’s a BIG brain freeze!
i can’t image eating that much ice cream at one time!
wow, hope the belly could take it all….lol
I do not know how he could eat ice cream that fast and not get a brain freeze!
I think these record contestants are weird!
good luck eating all that ice cream hope you don’t get sick
He had to eat each of those full Turkey Hill containers in less than two minutes to finish all the containers in 8 minutes. You have to let it melt first to do it. The ice cream would be soft and not as cold. Is it worth it? To Pat – yes. To me – no.
a little too much for me
On these Hot Humid Days..that sounds refreshing!
Holy Cow!
It said he was a student. The 8 minutes is fast but the 1.75 gallons for a teenage male does not phase me. I remember when my son was a teen the amount of food he ate and never gained weight could have put him in the 2 gallon class. Hubby told me in his teens and early 20′s he would eat a 1/2 gallon but not 8 ounces is enough.
DOUBLE W O W !!
How ambitious.
When I have “brain freeze” I wish i could blame it on Turkey Hill!
Thats alot of ice cream!
Not very good for the arteries if done frequently.
Melt it and I will gladly drink that much, but make it chocolate.
I’m in awe and having a vicarious brain freeze.
Wow that’s a lot of ice cream!
I might have gotten through the two-thirds carton, maybe. What a stomach Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti has. MMMMMMM good ice cream.
OMG – I get a headache just thinking about it!
Sounds risky and daringly delicious! Did the young man survived the brain freeze?
I just can’t understand speed eating anything. Food should be enjoyed..especially ice cream.
Wow, I couldn’t imagine eating all that ice cream in 2 minutes.
I wonder what hurt more–the brain freeze or the big thaw afterward?
I prefer to savor the flavor and enjoy my ice cream, eating anything this fast is just foolish.
Glad I told him to practice, practice, practice…….forget to tell him to wear mittens LOL!
That graphic really puts the amount into perspective. Amazing!!!
I think the little dog wanted some of that icecream!!!!
As much as I love ice cream, and I eat it everyday, I cannot imagine eating that much in 8 min. I hope he enjoyed every ounce of the ice cream. I only hope it was Turkey Hill. Linda
I love eating ice cream. However, not that much and not that quickly!
