In honor of the Statue of Liberty’s 125th anniversary, Turkey Hill Dairy has created a Limited Edition Lady Liberty Mint Premium Ice Cream flavor, on sale throughout the year wherever Turkey Hill ice cream is sold. We’re also posting a different Lady Liberty fact every day for 125 days on our Twitter feed. Today’s featured fact is:

Following a fundraiser to raise money to build Lady Liberty’s pedestal, “The World” newspaper printed the name of every contributor, no matter how small the amount.

Today’s fan photo is an example of a clever way to reuse an empty Turkey Hill ice cream container. It was sent to us by Delores K., who noted that she loves Turkey Hill ice cream, “and so do our feathered friends.”

all of the stories from the “journal” are great–but the ice creams are better !!!!

  3. Jacqueline Seewald says:

Wonderful idea for a bird feeder! Very creative.

I just went to our local A&P. Turkey Hill ice cream was on my list. There was virtually no Turkey Hill in the freezer case.
When I protested to the manager, he told me that they had sold
out all their Turkey Hill. So I can only assume that Turkey Hill
is the most popular ice cream in the store.

  4. sue says:

how nice that EVERYONE was recognized–no matter how big or small the contribution…that’s just how it should be!

  14. Caroline of Manalapan says:

I remember the World-Telegram which was the merged paper. It then merged with The Sun and later with the Herald-Tribune thus 5 old NY papers became one. That later folded. The World’s office might still be standing near City Hall. If memory is correct just Southeast of City Hall Park. I also think its editor (can be wrong since NY at that time had many papers) was Joseph Pulitzer thus that could be why all donors were listed and not Randolf Hearst of the American. This I learnt from reading since I am not that old.

  15. Amy says:

  27. Heidi says:

I like to know the number of names that newspaper therefore had to print; because nowadays a newspaper couldn’t possibly print a very large number ( most likely the case) of names.

Hi everyone, I love the picture, but I was thinking if I made a bird huse…I can’t put it outside..since all the aminals would eat the foods not the bird. I could make it and set it inside the house. I would have to put the turkey hill ice cream, eat the ice cream then make the bird house.

  54. Richard Klag says:

Good idea,i hope they ate the ice cream first, because i wouldn’t want to spoil the birds.
